The building is three stories with rooms on the first and second levels. There is no lift but the friendly staff were more than happy to help bring the luggage to your room. The rooms were comfortable and cozy though they could do with a paint job. There is a rooftop bar that can get a little noisy on the weekend. Breakfast was continental but the yogurt, granola and pastries were all homemade and delicious. The building was just across the street from the Hop On Hop Off bus stop and a 25 minute walk to Circular Quay. Lots of dining in the area.

Daytime staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Assistance with luggage was appreciated especially since there is no elevator in this hotel. The staircase was narrow and winding and needs attention to restore to its former glory. The hyped Casbah/rooftop bar didn't open during our stay due to a lack of customers according to bar staff. Disappointing since we were looking forward to the Mediterranean style offerings. We were also told the kitchen was closing in 2 minutes when we attempted to order food from the bar. Didn't realize it closed at 9pm. This left very few options on a rainy evening. The room was clean except for the dirty marks all over every wall. A coat of paint would make all the difference! We enjoyed the neighborhood but wouldn't return to The Strand Hotel unfortunately.

While I liked my room and the general area of the hotel, I did not like that there was no accessible staff or help desk. Also, it felt unsafe to me because while there are keys required to enter the room floors, all doors were open without a key required. It felt like a hostel because it was very independent. Breakfast was offered but one day it was not served and then the other a whole spread was served with croissants, yogurt, coffee, pastries, etc. Also, the rooftop was not open other than on the weekend. It attempts to be a hipster and cool spot but there is no information on those spots being open only on the weekend. In addition, access to the rooftop requires that people go through the room floors which would also make it feel even more unsafe. While I really wanted to like this spot, I paid too much for what I got...

The hotel is quite unique and in a great location. Our room was lovely and the Nespresso coffee machine a very welcome surprise. The breakfast was also very good. There are a lot of stairs in this hotel so it may not be suitable for some. The rooftop restaurant was cool but we really enjoyed the pub.

This place is nicely done out. There is a gorgeous rooftop bar but we couldn’t go because there was a private function. I was suprised to find this was a pub and it is out of the main tourist sydney district.

I loved the location and the atmosphere. I particularly loved the library - breakfast there in the morning was such a great way to start the day. The fact that there's no lift/elevator is the one thing that could be a negative for travelers.

Property dose have a caracter and it was clean, but i dont think it matches the pictures. No lift and no receptionists. I think with that price i could have get somewhere better. I might be wrong. But overall no complain.

We enjoyed our stay in this lovely boutique hotel. Excellent location if you enjoy a bit of a walk. Hyde Park, Australia Museum and George Street a short walk away. Darling Harbour attractions less than a half hour walk away. The Big Bus Sydney stop was conveniently just across the street. We walked to the hotel from the cruise ship terminal early in the morning and were pleasantly surprised when we were able to check in early. Do keep in mind that the hotel is multiple stories connected by a narrow staircase and there is no elevator. It wasn't at all a problem for us since we're mobile and had minimal luggage. The staff offered to help carry the luggage up the stairs. If you have mobility issues or a lot of luggage this may be an issue for you. Our room was clean, beautiful and larger than I expected. The Nespresso machine in the room and the included breakfast was certainly appreciated! Also convenient was a Woolworth's grocery store across the street. I would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it (as long as stairs aren't an issue for you).

Hotel is above a pub but I didn’t hear any noise. But there is only stairs to use and carry luggage. The room was spacious but it felt it needs an upgrade. Walls are marked and chair in room had stains. It felt like the room could do with a refresh

The Strand provided a comfortable and convenient stay for the first few days I spent travelling around. The included breakfast was more of a holdover snack until I could get an actual meal, but was nice to have nonetheless. The room was clean, but worn. The bottom of the curtains and the area around the window were stained with water damage. The rooftop bar was nice, but required a booking. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was spacious. For the price paid The Strand was great!

Great Stay. The bed was extremely comfy, the service excellent, the included brekkie a great perk and the location couldn’t be beat. Only downside was the wifi was spotty for a teams video call for work, but to be honest, that’s pretty minor since they are a boutique hotel. The wifi was perfect for everything else.

Room is incredibly small, there is no wardrobe, not a single chair. Actually, no furniture in the room except the bed. Practically nowhere to go in the room except to sit on the bed or on the potty. There is no elevator, and you have to drag your suitcases up the stairs. Included breakfast is the joke of coffee and buns. The air conditioner blows directly onto the bed, making it almost impossible to use

This was quite the hidden gem! Excellent proximity to basically all main attractions. The charm here is access to all the local restaurants/hole in the walls. I stayed in the smallest room by choice and for two adults four pieces of luggage, it was more than enough space. Would recommend and stay again!

In a good area of Sydney. Walking distance to the CBD. The room was very clean and the staff friendly and helpful. Room was small for 2 suitcases and a lift would have made it a better star rating. Staff did help with luggage up the stairs. Not too expensive

We stayed at the Strand mid Sept. 2024 for 3 nights. When looking at the room pictures before writing this, I had to double check that I was looking at the correct hotel. I was. Our room ($300 per night) was TERRIBLE. Nothing like the pictures. It was an interior room (NO windows...just 2 fake windows with opaque glass and back lighting). Small room, tiny bathroom, and a shower difficult to enter by a reasonably-sized person. Sink was too small to fill a 500ml water bottle. Continental breakfast was average during the week. On weekends, there were no pastries or micro quiches. Gave it 1 star (vs zero stars) because they let us check in early (before lunch) and it is close (10 minute walk) to Museum train station. Would not recommend this hotel.

Arriving at 11:15pm I was welcomed + ushered to my room by the friendly bar staff. However when I returned back downstairs it took approximately 15 minutes before anyone came to my assistance. I also rang the night managers number but no answer. When a staff member finally arrived I asked whether I could take a drink to my room. They said “no, we’re closed”. It was 11:30. When a hotel says on their website + in their emails that their bar is open till midnight, it should be open till that time. No cutlery + no microwave if you’re ordering in. Just saying. Otherwise, had a good stay. Comfy bed, good shower, great aesthetic + the smart TV is set up to go! If they can step up the communication/hospitality I’d definitely rate it. Daytime staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Assistance with luggage was appreciated especially since there is no elevator in this hotel. The staircase was narrow and winding and needs attention to restore to its former glory. The hyped Casbah/rooftop bar didn't open during our stay due to a lack of customers according to bar staff. Disappointing since we were looking forward to the Mediterranean style offerings. We were also told the kitchen was closing in 2 minutes when we attempted to order food from the bar. Didn't realize it closed at 9pm. This left very few options on a rainy evening. The room was clean except for the dirty marks all over every wall. A coat of paint would make all the difference! We enjoyed the neighborhood but wouldn't return to The Strand Hotel unfortunately.

From the moment we walked into the Strand Hotel, the staff were there, smiling and going the extra mile for us. The room was simple and very comfortable-and best of all quiet. We were in the second floor below the rooftop terrace and not a sound came through. We slept so well. The bed a comfortable and the room and bathroom clean. For us, the staff are the highlight of this secret little hotel. They are just so kind and friendly, they even remembered us and our story the night after checking in when we ran into our check-in staff member at the bar. The breakfast is simple and they provide fruit and yoghurt for celiacs. We will definitely stay there again and recommend you do too.

While I liked my room and the general area of the hotel, I did not like that there was no accessible staff or help desk. Also, it felt unsafe to me because while there are keys required to enter the room floors, all doors were open without a key required. It felt like a hostel because it was very independent. Breakfast was offered but one day it was not served and then the other a whole spread was served with croissants, yogurt, coffee, pastries, etc. Also, the rooftop was not open other than on the weekend. It attempts to be a hipster and cool spot but there is no information on those spots being open only on the weekend. We enjoyed our stay in this lovely boutique hotel. Excellent location if you enjoy a bit of a walk. Hyde Park, Australia Museum and George Street a short walk away. Darling Harbour attractions less than a half hour walk away. The Big Bus Sydney stop was conveniently just across the street. We walked to the hotel from the cruise ship terminal early in the morning and were pleasantly surprised when we were able to check in early. Do keep in mind that the hotel is multiple stories connected by a narrow staircase and there is no elevator. It wasn't at all a problem for us since we're mobile and had minimal luggage. The staff offered to help carry the luggage up the stairs. If you have mobility issues or a lot of luggage this may be an issue for you. Our room was clean, beautiful and larger than I expected. The Nespresso machine in the room and the included breakfast was certainly appreciated! Also convenient was a Woolworth's grocery store across the street. We had a lovely stay at the strand; the staff were so friendly and inviting and it was so close to the city without being overly busy. When we unexpectedly had to stay an additional night after our flight home was cancelled, they looked after us very well again and made us feel welcome our entire stay. We will definitely return to this establishment, loved it!!

Stayed here for one night whilst visiting the city. A 15/20 minute walk to the CBD and lots of attractions nearby. The room was beautiful, giving Parisian vibes. Super clean and cosy. The bed was so comfy, I had a brilliant night's sleep. The Library was the coolest!! Loved how relaxed the breakfast environment was. Completed with a great mix of continental options, tea and coffee, I loved it! (Only criticism is that something a little savoury would be nice). The staff were so friendly and helpful. We also went to the rooftop bar and tried some of their cocktails. Super chill, with a great view of the Sydney skyline at night. I would recommend this place to anyone! Thank you.

Walking distance to the city centre and kings cross. Great restaurants around the corner in Stanley st. We were worried it might have been noisy when we arrived but this wasn’t a problem. The staff were helpful when we arrived.

Great central place to stay in CBD areas of Sydney. The hotel was great with all amenities including roof top bar. Breakfast was great served in library but needs to keep it topped up for guests who do not get up early. Miguel in the bar area was a great host helped us with local area knowledge and shared great places to eat with excellent pub downstairs doing good meals but does need to have a better selection for Vegan dietary. Most definitely recommend the hotel and will stay here again :)

This is lovely, quaint hotel. There are no elevators, but a maze of staircases! It was fun. Only 17 or 18 rooms. Gloria, at reception, was very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. I think we checked in around 11 a.m., and she asked if we’d had breakfast. When we said no, she offered to bring us up some breakfast! When we had breakfast the next day, it was lovely - a nice assortment of cold foods - banana bread, cookies, fruit, granola, yogurt and cold meats like prosciutto. Orange juice, too. Each floor had a water station, with cold water and hot water for tea. Eco friendly!

Hyggeligt hotel med masser af charme, beliggende centralt i Sydney. Værelserne er ny indrettede i god stil, men fx ikke med lydisolering til gaden og baren i stueetagen. Der er ikke reception som sådan men personalet i baren er super cool og hjælpsomme. Morgenmad mangler lidt, både i udvalg og kvalitet. Alt i alt en god oplevelse. Prisen var god og beliggenhed i top.

The reason I gave it 4 stars was because of the staff. Extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel itself while quite comfortable and some nice touches like the coffee maker. However we found it very noisey at nights due to a disco above us. The breakfast was a non event, in fact I went out to a cafe and had one there. We had a meal in the bistro, and while it was definitely bistro food it was very well cooked and very tasty. All in I would stay again but would want a quieter room.

The included breakfast was more of a holdover snack until I could get an actual meal, but was nice to have nonetheless. The room was clean, but worn. The bottom of the curtains and the area around the window were stained with water damage. The rooftop bar was nice, but required a booking. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was spacious. For the price paid The Strand was great!

Service was phenomenal. I arrived around 7.30am and I got a free early checkin. I even was allowed to do breakfast. Staff is super sweet. They have a bar where you can eat - roomservice is also available. It was a pleasant stay!
