Overall a terrific property. Very clean, very cool vibe and great location to walk the Main Street. The room was smaller but had everything we needed. Loved the decor (we were in gothic room) and the soap/lotions in the bathroom. We did not eat there but the restaurant looked great. Parking was super easy. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is the internet and TV channel selection is not good. I will say, internet IS spotty in the entire PEC area but the wifi at the hotel is really not existent. Then there was only about 4 channels we could get on the TV. That really should be improved - a decent selection of TV channels should be fairly standard at all boutique hotels.

Loved the comfiness and homeyness of this inn. The service was great and felt very safe. Loved the touch of the sauna outside as well. I just wish there was a front entrance instead of walking all the way to the back everytime. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay!

Although we enjoyed our stay, we did not feel it met expectations, or was worth the price. The food was amazing, and setting was lovely. But some of what they had to offer was not available (cocktail lounge) and service was great but not always available. Our room was on the cold side despite turning the heat up, but I suppose part of the experience staying in a heritage home. Again, a nice experience but fell short of our expectations, and not reflective of cost.

Merrill House was superb from start to finish. I called ahead to ask if they could store two of my coolers in their freezer(a truly over the top request) and it was accommodated without hesitation. They even printed my Sandbanks parking pass for me. The house itself is gorgeous and unique. Our Dreaming suite was beautifully appointed, and the bathroom had lovely amenities. They even scented our pillows at night after giving us a choice of a variety of scents. The parking was fantastic and the property was large—it felt like we were in a park. Best of all, we were within walking distance of downtown Picton. We were minutes away from bistros and top notch restaurants. I highly recommend The Royal for dinner and Vic Social for breakfast. All in all, if you want the perfect place to stay while enjoying the County, Merrill House is it.

Our stay at Merrill house was lovely. The staff are friendly and very helpful. There is good parking at the back of the inn. We had a smaller room and bed was slightly soft for our liking, but we slept well. We had a delicious dinner in the dining room and I recommend if you are staying there to book at least one night for dinner. There is a lovely bar downstairs where residence of the Inn can have a drink before dinner. Good choice of wines and spirits. Overall, a wonderful stay

Had a great stay Rooms are clean and wonderful Staff are friendly however being a slower time Restaurant was not open the times we were there and breakfast did not include the price ever? Only major problem was the internet which they they acknowledged but it really needs to be resolved in this day and age. Especially because the TVs are only used with a fire stick provided but without proper Internet never worked . Fire pit was not allowed to be used and I would suggest more comfortable seats in the garden as it’s beautiful . Otherwise a lovely unique hotel! Make sure to ask For main floor if stairs do not work for you.

The interior decor was superlative. A combination of eclectic Victorians, modern extravagance all in the best of taste. The quality of the details- soft towels, warm and cool bathrobes, great bed linens and an amazing selection of bedside reading made us want to stay for a month. The breakfast was copious and delicious. A real delightful experience.

Perso elle très accueillant et bon service! Endroit propre et tranquille. Seul petit bémol, l’adresse de l’hôtel dans le courriel de confirmation de Expedia, est erroné! Donc perdu du temps à trouver l’hôtel… mais à notre arrivée ils nous ont offert le déjeuner gratuit pour les inconvénients. Et l’internet sur la télé de la chambre ne fonctionnait pas. Et ils nous ont offert des drinks dû à ce petit inconvénient. Mise à part ces deux petits détails, c’est très bien! Très gentil, courtois et serviable. À 20 minutes de la plage Sandbanks. Je vous recommande la plage Outlet. Vous devez imprimer votre permis pour une voiture et de cette façon vous pouvez aller directement au stationnement de la plage et éviter les files d’attentes.

This was an excellent place to stay. Staff were very friendly and courteous. Room was clean, beds very comfortable. Within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Shuttles/bus service nearby as well. Would highly recommend!

We had an amazing stay, Merrill house was stunning, artsy, chic and a had very unique decor. Our room was like nothing we’ve stayed at before. Comfortable bed and attention to small details in the room and in the hotel that make the experience special. Staff was very friendly and the breakfast was so delicious and unique. Strawberry cheesecake French toast is what I had. Would definitely stay here again!

Le bâtiment en lui-même est très beau et décoré avec goût. Nous avions cependant une chambre au rez-de-chaussée, qui s’est révélée petite, bruyante (entre les allées venues des occupants de la chambre du dessus qu’on entendait marcher dans arrêt et les discussions des clients avec le réceptionniste, qui avait manifestement décidé d’élire domicile à proximité des chambres pour discuter), et qui n’avait qu’une moitié de fenêtre pour tout éclairage naturel. Le sauna proposé est à l’extérieur et vu que l’hôtel ne dispose pas de piscine ou de douche à proximité pour se rafraîchir, il n’est pas utilisable. Au final, très décevant et trop cher pour la prestation et l’hébergement proposé.

Merrill House was superb from start to finish. I called ahead to ask if they could store two of my coolers in their freezer(a truly over the top request) and it was accommodated without hesitation. They even printed my Sandbanks parking pass for me. The house itself is gorgeous and unique. Our Dreaming suite was beautifully appointed, and the bathroom had lovely amenities. They even scented our pillows at night after giving us a choice of a variety of scents. The parking was fantastic and the property was large—it felt like we were in a park. The property is gorgeous and the room nice. The big drawback was loud outdoor parties going on at Merrill and next door too. Noise made it hard to go to sleep and then woken up at midnight by someone banging on our door. People should be warned that event space is being rented out and that it will be loud until late.

This hotel is okay - we had a comfortable stay but it was nothing remarkable, and for the price point we expected MUCH more. A few things advertised online were not received, and the concierge services weren't particularly helpful. There are better places to stay in the County that offer similar amenities and better customer service, for less. We will not be staying again.

Our stay at Merrill house was lovely. The staff are friendly and very helpful. There is good parking at the back of the inn. We had a smaller room and bed was slightly soft for our liking, but we slept well. We had a delicious dinner in the dining room and I recommend if you are staying there to book at least one night for dinner. There is a lovely bar downstairs where residence of the Inn can have a drink before dinner. Good choice of wines and spirits. Overall, a wonderful stay

The interior decor was superlative. A combination of eclectic Victorians, modern extravagance all in the best of taste. The quality of the details- soft towels, warm and cool bathrobes, great bed linens and an amazing selection of bedside reading made us want to stay for a month. The breakfast was copious and delicious. A real delightful experience.

As a fan of gothic novels, I was obsessed with this hotel. It's old, yet renovated so everything feels clean and modern. The restaurant was top-notch and served my favorite tea brand, Rare Tea. Being able to text the concierge for reservations or sauna scheduling was extremely convenient. This was one of my favorite hotel stays ever!
