Stayed 3 nights

Stayed 3 nites in early Oct '26. Overall the room was OK but we had a couple issues - later on that. Check in was ok and there is a old type caged elevator that was unique (we used it only for the luggage). Breakfast time has to be prearranged as the area is somewhat small so they need to make sure it is not overcrowded. The young fella helping in the food area was super friendly and helpful - kudos to him. Food selection was OK, coffee from a machine but there was no coffee in the room... The location is not too far from the train station and there are plenty of nice restaurants just outside the door. I have to report that the bath suffered from sewer gas smell a couple times and I even saw the floor plate raise up to vent the gas - we had to open the windows. The toilet seat hinge was broken so the seat slid about also. Oh, the in-room phone did not work so I had to use whatsapp to call for service (the toilet seat was fixed but the sewer gas returned some).

Stayed 4 nights

The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. The shower was not great… we had trouble with the hot water flow staying hot and the shower head would not stay upright….but it was usable. Breakfast was good… offering a large selection of choices including some hot food. Check in and out were both easy… we had no complaints with our service. We would stay again.

Everything was great about the Hotel Sonya EXCEPT no hot water in our room. Just cold. Spoke to staff twice, no change. Spoke a third time and had hot water for an afternoon only. Then back to cold water for our last day.

Stayed 4 nights

Clean sheets and bathroom but dusty in all other areas, AC barely worked, asked for new batteries for control and didn’t happen (no way to change settings) and next day it broken down and couldn’t be fixed until next day (bear in mind it was hot) fortunately the night shift maintenance was able to bring a fan, this happen before 11 but at 11 the receptionist left (didn’t wait to check if it could be resolved) so it was up to the maintenance guy to try to find a fan (he was very nice). Lastly we would shower at night and there was not hot water (you want just something slightly wat due to weather but not even that). I know is a 3 start hotel but some of these elements should be a given I think.
