Ramada by Wyndham Birmingham Airport

The only good thing was the price, but you get what you pay for. Ice machine on my floor (2) didn't work. I went down to the first floor and that machine didn't work either and was leaking. The carpet was squishing under my feet. Wi fi didn't work in my room. The pool which looked fine had a sign that said open from 10am-7pm was "Not working" according to the front desk. Building was in horrible condition. Obvious neglect over time. I could keep going. Ramada used to be a great brand. They need to keep a closer eye on hotels baring their name.

It’s typical of a independently run hotel, understaffed and dirty, you wait for a room even after it’s check in time at which point they tell you that the in house restaurant is closed on Sundays even though they advertise a restaurant on site. The elevator felt like a death trap, the hall rugs are dirty, you get to the room and there are no entryway lights and a jury rigged bathroom light, photo included, good luck finding that in the middle of the night, the tv channel selection was difficult to navigate and limited on channels, to top it of is the first airport shuttle is at 04:30, good luck with your 5am departure, I ended up taking an Uber. This is the first time writing a hotel review, stay at your own peril.

Most of the time ice machines didn’t work. Microwaves were community in the hall next to those faulty ice machines. No phones in the room to ring up the desk who didn’t answer much of the time anyway. Breakfast was a joke. No eggs, muffins, English muffins or danishes. They had bagels but no cream cheese for them. Also noisy. If not people in the halls it was blared Latin music in the parking lot. They did address that when I brought it to their attention. All in all if I had to find a room in Birmingham I’d find another place.

When checking in, they tried to give me a double when I booked king. The elevators got stuck with people inside twice while we were there. Food was not ready when we srrived for breakfast even though way past start time. Had to ask for it to be made each morning. The room was clean though.

Waited 45 minutes for the free airport shuttle that never came. I even called twice and was told they would be coming

This is a conveniently located, well priced option for those using Birmingham Airport. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. The room is clean. There is a new restaurant / bar open on site- which is very helpful because there are no other options close by. The hotel itself shows age and wear and is isolated by itself at the edge of the airport and industrial area. You can park and leave your car there for half the cost of economy parking at the airport. The hotel provides a shuttle.

This place should be closed by the health department. Run down dirty and not operating properly. I got stuck in the elevator twice. Breakfast was below poor and the house keeping was gross to say the lost. It opens 20 minutes late. Did not eat there of course. Left after I saw what was all about. I would not suggest to anybody at any price. Surprised hotels.com can suggest such a place. Worst place I have ever stayed after 34 years of traveling. A real disgrace. Place should be demolished.

Pool was closed the whole weekend. On site resturant was closed 2 of 3 nights. Those are the reasons I chose this hotel.

I would stay here again if I was flying in/ out of airport and just needed a place to sleep. Otherwise I’d find a different hotel. Older building, average furnishings, but it was clean. I needed shuttle to airport for 5am flight but shuttle only runs after 4am.

First of all there was only one person working and that person was also providing transportation to the airport, so the front desk was shut down during transportation rides. The place just looked worn down and tired. The elevator light did not work some of the time and the door was stuck once when I was on it. The room a/c was turned off so the room was hot and took awhile to cool down. The small coffee maker in the room did not work. And the worst part was that I got bit by Bed Bugs during the night. This property should be shut down and redone. Very disappointed in Wyndham.

Stinky carpet, broken bed, dirty linen .The smell was awful

Gross, dirty, didn’t even want to touch anything. There were stains all over the bed and the room smelled horribly of cigarette smoke, so I had to move rooms and it all is still so dirty

There were roaches crawling around, the floor felt dirty. it smelled bad. Do not recommend.

Found a live roach by the AC unit. Toilet hardly has enough suction to flush. Hotel room door had a large gap under it.

This hotel was nasty when we arrived. We had dirty towels and they only gave us one face towel, but there were three people in the room and it was a double bedded room also when we requested for fresh towels the next day, they stated that they did not have any towels. There is no vents in the bathroom toilets wouldn’t flush. We had to flush them three times. The handle in the tub was broke. We had to make the broken handle work to cut the water on and off. Phones would not work at all. Hallway was hot tried to cut on the air conditioner. It would not work in the hallway. No ice machines worked in the entire building. Had to go to customer service. We were actually miserable the whole time we were there and ready to come home.

Bed bugs found in room 328, got bit.

There was a dirty thong in my couch

It smelled like smoke upon entry into the lobby. One of the elevators does not go to the correct floor when you press the button. The furnishings look outdated. The sheets in my room were stained and the man at the desk did not have anymore so he switched my room. The first room also did not have any batteries in the smoke detector. One of the walls was filthy in the second room. I chose this hotel because it is literally right at the airport, but I would not return again.

For an airport-adjacent hotel, this property is nice-ish, but leaves a lot to be desired in a hotel overall. All plugs should be working in a room, furniture should be sturdy and stable, WiFi should *always* work, and vending machines should accept credit cards (products in them should clearly display their prices). All that being said, this hotel had an almost unbelievably low rate via Expedia, so I’ve adjusted my expectations accordingly.

Beds were ok. Our shower didn't work. Didn't know til next mor ing and too late. 1 of the 2 elevators worked half the time. Felt like it was about to give. Inspection cert was 2 yrs expired. "Breakfast" was juice and funky looking sausage links I think they were. Packaged cereal. That was it. Lame. Room outlets went dead when you turn the lamps off, which made charging devices difficult.

No hot water...Shower head was in the middle of the wall instead of being up top...First hotel that I have been in that didn't offer cable tv...Wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone...

Only the front door was open but you had to park in the back and come back to the front for entrance. The room had no ice bucket. Also no ventilation or fan in the bathroom. The floor was uneven tripping hazard

Clearly the photos used for promotions are not this hotel. Very out-dated. You can smell stale cigarette smoke walking down the halls, despite “no smoking” signs on every door. We had to walk to the front desk to get an extra towel. Phone in room didn’t work AT ALL. Signs in the parking lot say “Park at your own risk.” Bathroom: towel rack falling off the wall, exhaust fan doesn’t work, and shower head mounted at about 48 inches height (I’m 6’ 4”). Only entrance/exit of the hotel not labeled as “Emergency Only” was the main entrance. This may have been a “nice hotel” in about 1990, but not this century. Only nice thing I can say is that room was clean.

Whoever is doing all the 10/10 ratings has not stayed at this hotel. The ceiling was caving in, the tile was not level in the room, the blankets had stains on them, the wall air conditioning unit was barely attached to the wall. This hotel is in desperate need of repairs. The lady at the front desk was nice, but I felt dirty and unsafe - thankfully we only stayed one night. Oh and the elevator- not sure if it’s ever been inspected -

This hotel is super close to the airport, but it’s run down and overall dirty feeling. Definitely in need of a remodel.

Service was good room smelled like smoke that they tried to cover up unsuccessfully. There were no tissues and not enough towels. The shower curtain rod was falling off and the curtain would keep sliding to the middle of the rod. Shower head was really low and dripped continously. Towel hook was falling off the door. TV was small but had a good variety of channels. Beds were clean and relatively comfortable. Breakfast wasn't very impressive but they did bring out freshly cooked eggs and sausage that was good. Pool was closed.

AC was not on when I went into the room, then it never really cooled off. They did get my into another room that was also hot due to AC being off. It cooled down in a few hours.

The staff here really care about their guests. They helped me with directions and even recommended great restaurants nearby. My room was quiet and peaceful!

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Rooms were nicely kept. Everything was clean and convenient. Breakfast was cooked perfectly. We just stayed the night but there was definitely a lot to do around the town.

I did not like anything about this hotel. I was locked out of the room, I was told they had no more rooms.available, another room mysteriously became available, and when we went to move into the room, the room was filthy. I don't know if tgere was a service charge for being a third party provider, but I would like my money refunded. We had to find another hotel to stay in.

To start with. This may be advertised as a Ramada by Wyndham, but those days are long gone. Looks like this property was purchased by an independent operator who has very little idea of how to run an american hotel. 1. The elevators are very dangerous. The safety certificates have not been renewed since May of 2023. I was stuck temporarily on the 1st floor with closed doors. Then the elevator took me back to the 3rd floor, but the sign inside was showing that I was on the 2nd floor. After a few frightening moments, It finally dropped me off again on 1. Checkin, checkin was a disaster. The front desk staff looked like temp hires. No uniforms, one was wearing a t shirt, and only had feeble excuses about housekeeping as to why I could not get into my room, for which I had a confirmation through expedia. They did not even know how to look up a reservation. Rooms were supposed to be ready at 3, it was 5:30 before we went to ours. They also insisted on a 50 dollar deposit, which I have never been asked before. Not even in a motel. The pool was closed because obviously, no maintenance. There was one towel in the room, we were 4 people. Take a shower, no hot water. Breakfast. A person who spoke no english, greeted us by asking for a ticket. When I reserved, the hotel said free breakfast. The breakfast room had a jug of milk and some toast. The "ticket" was some kind of paper, from a bingo night. from which they gave us one egg and a sausage link.

Check in with staff very un helpful. Barely spoke and went back to work as we stood there waiting for them to let us know our check-in was complete. Never told us where room was, or elevators. Never told us where to park, never told us where restaurant and bar was or where breakfast would be. Very poor communication between BOTH people working behind the desk. Will not be back!

They cancelled our reservations at 6pm the day of check in that we had booked weeks in advance & we had 3 rooms booked. We were 3 hours away when they emailed a cancellation notice! I called them & they said the manager cancelled everybody that wasn't checked in by 5-6pm & they were fully booked now which doesn't make sense if you just cancelled everybody's reservation! I looked online & there were rooms available for around $300 when ours were booked in advance for $75. They are running a scam there! DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE! You could drive all the way there to find out you don't have room anymore! It didn't show cancelled on my Expedia app either so you won't know until you get there or you check your emails often.

Can’t really comment on comfort. Didn’t make it past reception. Started by booking and paying for a king bed. When I arrived I was told it wasn’t available. Rebooked at La Quinta (worth every extra penny). Reception was beyond rude, argued about the booking. Apparently the customer isn’t always right. The cleanliness I can comment on. Just look at the state of ill repair in the lobby. Dirty and grungy. I did see the staff moving a bed mattress to a room. And honestly I was in shock. Pretty sure it was the mattress I passed on the highway side on the way to the hotel.

Hotel itself was fine, and my room seemed pretty clean. I left very early in the morning, and there was a key drop off box, so I just left without checking out with the front desk person. Fast forward a couple of days-I realize that my driver’s license was missing. I realize that the last time I had it was when I gave it to the person at the front desk. My fiancé calls and I’m listening to the conversation while I check all of my bags and search my car. It was so frustrating because we couldn’t even get the person we got ahold of to look. Instead, my fiancé was basically having to explain why they would have my license (even though giving your license at check in is very normal at hotels, and a thing they did). She told us that we could go back

This is an airport hotel and the most convenient for BHM. It is an excellent value for an overnight stay and we would stay there again, but be aware that the BHM airport is not in a good part of town and there are limited options for dining. It's great for an "overnight" before an early flight, but not as a destination spot for exploring Birmingham.

Convenient location right near the airport with a free shuttle. The hotel is nothing fancy, but my room was clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly.

The hotel was conveniently close to the airport and the shuttle was on time. On site restaurant had a great steak and other options. Had a great nights sleep and caught an early flight in the morning. Room was clean and very quiet.

If you missed a flight or your flight is cancelled, it's a convenient stay. Otherwise, expect no water in the vending machine, or food. It's an old hotel, smells old, rooms need upgrades, bathroom simple cocking around the bathtub. Its independently owned, therefore, it's not operated as a Ramada. Thankful, it was a stay for about 5 hours.

This is a very nice hotel. Yes, it’s an older property. Yes, the location is a little sketchy after dark, but in reality that’s pretty much everywhere in downtown Birmingham. That said…it’s very well maintained and secure feeling.

The hotel was nice overall. Obviously and older property with bar and restaurant on property, but well maintained. The continetal breakfast was lackluster at best, and the dining area didnt seem to have A/C.

There were several issues wrong with this hotel. But lets start with what I did like. I liked the fact that it was 5 minutes from the airport and the hotel lobby was clean. And these are the things I did not like, starting with worst to least worst. The elevator. Going from level 3 to level 1, the elevator had me stuck on level 2 for quite some time before eventually opening its doors and let me out on Level 2. I took the stairs after that and I will probably never ride another elevator ever again. Next, even though the website states they offer airport shuttle, they only have airport shuttle on select days or whenever they have drivers working that day. I was only able to get a ride to the airport (and not from the airport). Next, the website states they offer free daily breakfast. Breakfast was not available on Monday labor day. Front desk guy said it was because it was a holiday. Again, misleading on their website. My room did not have any bugs in it, but the comforter/top sheet had cig burns on it, the floor was sticky and both the pillows & mattress were not comfortable. I am not sure if this was a me problem or a bed problem but I hardly got any sleep. All in all it was not worth the price I paid for 1 night with all the things they were supposed to have but didn't have. I will not be staying here again.

Needs renovation. Breakfast is terrible, and there’s a lady whom polices the “restaurant” area asking for tickets. She was extremely rude to some other guests.

Very poor breakfast. Don’t advertise this then not provide it. No juice and space choice and space amounts of the food there was available.

Nice staff. I love thai food at restaurant. It was delicious. My kids loved swimming pool.

Breakfast was an absolute joke. I know I dont expect much but there was stale bagels. dry sausage and no beverages at 7: 15 AM

This place is wonderful! Staff is very sweet and helpful! Complimentary breakfast was delicious and had various choices. The room was amazing and bed was Heavenly comfortable with plenty of room. Pool was open and we got to enjoy it ourselves. Plenty of parking. Shower was clean. Everything was clean!

Restaurant had great food and the staff was very nice.
