We stayed for 4 days at the end of March 2025, whilst work was being carried out, but we hardly noticed any disruption. We were a bit sad the rooftop terrace wasn’t open until April, but that was our bad luck. Staff are excellent and service was top notch. They are friendly, knowledgeable and super helpful. (We forgot our European plug, but they sorted us a fix for our stay.) The hotel is just minutes away from the Coliseum and a short walk from other amazing sites, we felt very safe walking around at night and found some lovely places to eat close by. Our standard double room and bathroom were clean and functional, but small. Breakfast was standard but the coffee is very good. I would definitely recommend for short stays.

The hotel has a lot going for it. It’s in a great location, just a short walk from the Colosseum and surrounded by tons of food and shopping options. The staff were really nice and the room was clean and comfortable. Having breakfast included in the package was also a nice touch and made mornings much easier. That said, a few things took away from the overall experience. There was no TV or fridge in the room, and the rooftop bar which was one of the features that drew me in was closed during my stay with no notice. Even the TV in the common area didn’t work, so there weren’t many options for relaxing onsite. If you’re mainly looking for a convenient, clean place to sleep in a central location, it does the job. But if amenities and advertised features are important to you, it may fall short.

VERY expensive for a tiny sparse room with a window with a view of a wall of windows with a/c units. Bathroom was also tiny-world’s smallest shower( hands on hips would not be possible) Rooftop terrace/bar closed for renovation. I was shocked at what we got for the price. Long walk to anything but colloseum.

Overall not a bad place. The people amazing, employees are amazing. When we came in our elevator was broken so I needed to walk 77 steps 3 times up and 3 times down in order to carry all the luggage. There is a public bathroom downstairs in the “lobby” but it’s horrible. You walk through a back alley with carts and tunnels. When you do your business, the bathroom is super small but that’s not the worst. There is a leaking bowl that drip drops “water” on you. (I don’t think it was water) the hotel is pretty small. Showers are tiny too. People great. Staff amazing. Clean place just old and rustic.

Well I asked Hotel.com to help me because there was jackhammers on the first morning of our stay at 8am in the morning and every day since and the last day they added hammering and did not tell us untill we left that the bathroom next door was broken. But the jackhammer never quit until 4:30/5 that day, so I am not sure that was the entire truth. It was extremely hot in Rome, so my daughter and I would try to avoid the hottest part of the day, but how do you relax with jackhammers above your head? Hotels.com said they would get back to me within 24 hours regarding a partial reimbursement, and it has been 5-6 days, but I have not heard about my partial refund. It was horrible, and the woman in the morning shift was not nice at all. When we checked out, she did not charge me for the morning breakfast, and then emailed me later to explain that it was to compensate for the noise from the hammering next door due to the broken toilet. I never heard back from the Hotel or Hotels.com about the noise we had to endure during our stay, and honestly, I am not very happy and extremely disappointed.

Amazing hotel and staff. It was our first time in Rome and the staff was kind enough to upgrade us to a room with a view. It’s in a walkable distance to the colosseum with made it very convenient. They have a lot of dining options around. Most importantly the hotel has an elevator.

Loved it especially the staff my only regret is that the terrace was close due to renovation I wish we knew prior to our arrival.. We were so disappointed we still love our stay but if we knew the disappointment would have able a bit less

Their breakfast was good. It was close to stores and restaurants. Our room was clean but unfortunately the smell from the sewer was very strong. I told the admin and they sent someone to fix it. It did not help. I had to place a cardboard on the shower drain and placed duct tape around it. I also blocked the basin drain at night and run the shower fan all day. It helped to reduce the smell so I could sleep.

Excellent location and a tasteful decor. Support services in the hotel were a little unreliable: both I and another guest found that towels weren't replaced one day, and rooms didn't seem to have many free sockets for electrical appliances. However, if you're just looking for a base for your stay in Rome rather than a fully-featured hotel experience, this place will fit the bill.

The hotel was modern, clean and conveniently located to major sites. The staff; mainly the sweet patient young lady at the front desk. She was very helpful, knowledgeable and thorough with assisting a couple ahead of me with scheduling and purchasing tours and activities. I was impressed as she was able to help me without batting an eye when it was my turn. Breakfast buffet was generous and delicious. I would absolutely recommend Casa Santa Sofia

They don't warn you that the hotel is under construction, and you can hear the noise early in the morning. For $210 a night, you could find better options. Think twice before booking, as you won't get your money back.

The location and price for this hotel was great. Only a few minutes away, walking wise, from the Coliseum and other venues. Lots of dining and grocery shopping options nearby. Breakfast was good. My only negative feedback was the absence of a TV and no fridge.

The hotel is in a fantastic location. Easy access from a metro stop, in view of the colosseum. The square outside is VERY busy including through the night, but my room was surprisingly sound proof. I was on the 3rd floor facing the square, and was surprised how noisy it was each time I went outside since I heard almost none of it. Lots of great dining right in the square as well. Small room, but clean. I would have like more of a blackout curtain, the sun comes in early. But otherwise, a fantastic place to stay.

Overall a really nice stay. My only complaints all be it very minor but valuable is that the rooms did lack some key facilities such as a television, kettle tea & coffee facilities and the bathroom was very dated and small. It Needed refubished. The shower was tiny I could only just fit in. The double bed was very small it was more like a large single than a double . Apart from the above everything else was great. Staff were friendly and lovely . Couldn’t do more for you if they tried they were amazing . Location was amazing . Colloseum on your doorstep and the metro 2 minutes walk away. They could have been more hot food options at breakfast for the price they charge but overall it was okay. Would I come back again? If the price was really cheap then yes due to what it lacks otherwise for the price I paid I would choose to find a hotel with better facilities .

The hotel is right down the street from the Colosseum. There are many restaurants closeby and all seem to be very busy/popular. The little piazza that is outside is often bustling, but I couldn't hear the people when in my room (and my window faced it). The staff at check in/evenings were very friendly and helpful. It was very hot outside, but the AC in the room was awesome! Some areas of the hotel seem to be undergoing some updates or, at least should be; however, I am very pleased with hotel. I would definitely recommend.

Hotel is situated in a great location, easy walk to Colosseum and other key attractions. Easy walk to Metro and one stop from Roma Termini. Staff were professional and attentive. Hotel lobby is very nice however the rooms do not follow same design and finish. Bed is comfortable and room has good A/C. Bathroom in particular needs a renovation. Lockable safe did not work, curtains did not close 100%. Some lights did not work. Easy to hear people in room next door. Hotel has restaurants and bars and shopping on its doorstep and is quiet despite being in a busy area. Good for a short stay.

Casa Santa Sofia was an excellent place to stay. There are so many places to eat in and around the area, and a stone’s throw from the Roman Forum and Colosseum. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.

The hotel was kind of hard to find but other than that, the staff was better than I thought they’d be. Received the best customer service than all 4 hotels we stayed at during our trip around Italy. They helped set up transportation, got us in our room early and were helpful any time we had questions. I would highly recommend and would stay there again.

This was a great hotel to stay at for our base in Rome. Check in was easy and Christine (front desk) and all the staff were very friendly. She provided us great tips on restaurants and they can help you book any tours. The hotel is walkable to shops, restaurants and many tourists attractions including the Colosseum. The room we had is nicely updated. It was clean with a comfortable bed and a desk. The washroom is small, but that is typical in Rome. They also had an option for a paid breakfast buffet, but we ended up eating at the many restaurants just outside of our hotel. They also have a nice seating area in the front with ice cold water that you can fill up your water bottle everyday. You do need to leave your key at the front desk when you go out for the day, but we had no issues with this. You can also safely store your luggage for the day if you have a later flight. Overall a great stay and would stay again.

Well I asked Hotel.com to help me because there was jackhammers on the first morning of our stay at 8am in the morning and every day since and the last day they added hammering and did not tell us untill we left that the bathroom next door was broken. But the jackhammer never quit until 4:30/5 that day, so I am not sure that was the entire truth. It was extremely hot in Rome, so my daughter and I would try to avoid the hottest part of the day, but how do you relax with jackhammers above your head? Hotels.com said they would get back to me within 24 hours regarding a partial reimbursement, and it has been 5-6 days, but I have not heard about my partial refund. It was horrible, and the woman in the morning shift was not nice at all. When we checked out, she did not charge me for the morning breakfast, and then emailed me later to explain that it was to compensate for the noise from the hammering next door due to the broken toilet. I never heard back from the Hotel or Hotels.com about the noise we had to endure during our stay, and honestly, I am not very happy and extremely disappointed.

This particular location shared my FAVORITE QUALITY of spending time in a "Neighborhood". The Quality of the residence, and AS Importantly, or MORE... the Staff, front of house, management, finances, info, booking..even Fabulous breakfast chef and attendents, avaiability for ANY help, amenities, data for seeking Attractions for art or Food.. Is the BEST...I have ever experienced in 50 years of travel. Rome can be "Tough" for visitors..even without my Art/culture/food experience.. I speak some Italian, much Spanish, French, but primarily English... EVERY employee went beyond Normal duties to be kind and communicative...right down to the maintenance and room supervision. I simply Cannot say How WONDERFUL..all the Staff at this Location...SOooo convenient, have been. I was even able to speak to one Manager..to Express my thanks for such a wonderful experience.. DO...yourself a favor..and Stay at "Casa Santa Sofia" if you want to experience the Best of Rome. It is mere blocks from The Collosium..and I was able today to even take a lovely stroll to the Borghese Gallery to see, again, my favorite artist's work.. Berninini.. I even stopped to get a new suit..tailored..just for Me.!! I can pick i up tommorrow by noon. Fantastic.!

The location and breakfast were good. That's where the positives end. The hotel double charged me for my stay. I informed the front desk about it, and the receptionist was completely unwilling to help. She kept insisting that I had not been double charged, despite me showing proof that I had been. This went on for a while - she was very stubborn. Given that I was getting nowhere with her, I contacted Hotels.com customer service, and they phoned her on my behalf. It worked! The hotel now promised me a refund. Shout out to Hotels.com customer service for solving the issue so promptly. I eventually received my refund, but unfortunately, there's $25 missing from it. I'm now back home, so I emailed the hotel management about the missing $25. The person who replied to my email writes in broken English (which is odd given that the staff at the hotel all spoke great English when I was there), so I don't have high hopes of receiving the missing $25. If they do eventually refund the missing $25, I will update this review. For thoroughness, I do want to mention that one of the girls working the front desk was very helpful, but there was enough bad service from others to sour my views of the hotel as a whole.

The hotel was modern, clean and conveniently located to major sites. The staff; mainly the sweet patient young lady at the front desk. She was very helpful, knowledgeable and thorough with assisting a couple ahead of me with scheduling and purchasing tours and activities. I was impressed as she was able to help me without batting an eye when it was my turn. Breakfast buffet was generous and delicious. I would absolutely recommend Casa Santa Sofia

Very central location, you can walk to colosseum 5-7 min. Roma termini only 15 min walk, so many food and shops around the hotel. I felt super safe to be here and be around. Staff is so great, nice and speak English as well. Perfect place for us to stay.

This property was very close to the Colosseum . It is very walkable also to Trevi fountain . There are several restaurants within 2 blocks for supper, gelato, souvenirs or alcohol . Loved the fountain area outside. Our room was clean and quiet and overlooked the fountain area.

Wow. It's on a sweet little square. You walk a few steps from the front door and can see the Colosseum. Many of Rome's treasures are nearby. The room is clean. The bedside lights are great: turn them upwards and they illuminate the room, turn them downwards and they're perfect for reading. We only stayed one night, but will return surely next time we're in Rome.

It was okay… I wouldn’t say it was amazing, but it served its purpose for two days, sleep & shower. The property is located in a tiny piazza with cafes, pastry shops and restaurants at just footsteps away. The colosseum can be seen from The sidewalk and you can walk to it in about 4 minutes. Most of the sites can be reached by foot and are no more than a 20 minute walk. There was some construction work going on in the hotel building, our room overlooked what I assume was a courtyard and we constantly heard the doorbell downstairs ringing. The room itself was very small and the shower was tiny. Look, it’s not terrible but I kind of expected something nicer.

The hotel is right down the street from the Colosseum. There are many restaurants closeby and all seem to be very busy/popular. The little piazza that is outside is often bustling, but I couldn't hear the people when in my room (and my window faced it). The staff at check in/evenings were very friendly and helpful. It was very hot outside, but the AC in the room was awesome! Some areas of the hotel seem to be undergoing some updates or, at least should be; however, I am very pleased with hotel. I would definitely recommend.

The location is absolutely perfect turn the corner and you’re greeted with a view of the Colosseum just a stone’s throw away. The Trevi Fountain and Pantheon are within a 15-minute walk, while the Vatican is about 25 minutes by car and Trastevere just 15 minutes. There are plenty of great little restaurants right out the front and all around the hotel. As a solo female traveller, I did notice some seedy people hanging out at the front on occasion, but they were largely harmless. The staff were very friendly and responsive, which made the stay more comfortable. If you’re looking for a hotel mainly as a place to sleep while exploring Rome, I highly recommend it. But if you want luxury or extra amenities, you may prefer elsewhere.

The hotel was booked last minute because of an Airbnb that wasn’t quite right. The staff were very helpful and let us keep our luggage there until check-in. The lobby is comfortable and nice to relax in while we waited. The water cooler was a very nice and welcome addition in the lobby. The rooms are basic yet clean and comfortable with a pretty spacious bathroom. Breakfast was tasty and enjoyable with a nice selection. My one small note for improvement is that the lamps in the room have cool lightbulbs instead of warm and so the light reminded me more of a hospital than a hotel. No other issues beyond that and I’d definitely stay again.

The hotel was very clean and the staff were warm, friendly and courteous. A small fridge and tv in the room would have been nice. It would be nice if the city of Rome could care a little bit more about the litter that is strewn everywhere in the section of Monti (absolutely no fault of the hotel). I would definitely stay again next time I’m in Rome.

The hotels location is amazing! We absolutely loved our stay! The breakfast we thought was great. We got a airport transfer and it was absolutely worth it. We loved the bar right next to the hotel also we were on our honeymoon so it was fun to go out there for a night cap.

Overall a really nice stay. My only complaints all be it very minor but valuable is that the rooms did lack some key facilities such as a television, kettle tea & coffee facilities and the bathroom was very dated and small. It Needed refubished. The shower was tiny I could only just fit in. The double bed was very small it was more like a large single than a double . Apart from the above everything else was great. Staff were friendly and lovely . Couldn’t do more for you if they tried they were amazing . Location was amazing . Colloseum on your doorstep and the metro 2 minutes walk away. They could have been more hot food options at breakfast for the price they charge but overall it was okay. Would I come back again? If the price was really cheap then yes due to what it lacks otherwise for the price I paid I would choose to find a hotel with better facilities .

Their information on your platform is a scam. I have booked this places because of two reason. 1. It was because they say in their ads that they have 24 hours airport shuttle but that is a lie. If I’m ever returning to Rome, I would not hesitate to book a stay at Casa Santa Sofia again. Kind, helpful and competent staff and perfect location. Even though the area is quite lively, you couldn’t hear it on the second floor once the windows were closed. I hope to visit again some day.

I felt so welcome at your property, I appreciate how nice and kind Gabriella, at the front desk, was with me and other guests. Everything clean and appropriate. Even I had a street view room, it wasn’t noisy at all. Great location. Excellent breakfast. I can’t wait to come back and stay again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I just hope next time I find a room with TV…. ☺️☺️

Very small bathroom, could barely fit in the shower. Toilet seat did not match toilet bowl and the flushing mechanism only worked half of the time. Somewhat unclean bathroom and uninterrupted construction noise from 8 am. Very small room in general, no tv. Positives: + Staff provided extra duvet when requested + Mini fridge in room + Good AC unit + Friendly staff
