We stayed for a week and while we loved the buffet breakfast variety and the pool activities every day, we felt as though we were constantly being hounded by sales staff to buy something on property either a time share, excursions, massages, or sunglasses- we could never fully relax without being asked to buy something either on the beach or at the pool. If you want a to hang out by the beach you have to claim your lounger at 6am as there are nowhere near enough for the amount of guests on the resort. It took three days for maintenance to fix our broken shower which only produced cold water, and halfway through the stay housekeeping staff just stopped restocking the mini bar. We loved how the variety of things there were to do on resort and the daily activity calendar within the app. The gym is incredible and the spa is beautiful and relaxing. The staff we interacted with were extremely friendly and kind and truly love the work they do which helps the experience.

Place is great! Was a last minute trip and I’m not disappointed. Getting around is very easy with the help of all the carts around, I was just very surprised that the pools closed down at 6pm/1800hrs still plenty of daylight and energy to go around.

Beautifully resort beach and pool side was clean and very comfortable. Only cons I’d say wish the transportation around the resort came around a bit faster most of the visit we had to walk a lot whether if it was to eat breakfast in the morning or for dinner. Also would be nice if there was a schedule of which restaurants were open and not maybe in the lobby or something.

This was our fifth visit to an Iberostar resort in Riviera Maya. The resort grounds are always beautiful, the staff is friendly, welcoming, and professional, and we always feel like family when we come. The restaurants, buffets, and even the beach food is delicious and fresh with great variety. The Spa was incredible. We feel at home at Iberostar and will be visiting many more around the world because of our stays at Paraiso Maya and Paraiso Lindo.

The resort grounds are always beautiful, the staff is friendly, welcoming, and professional, and we always feel like family when we come. The restaurants, buffets, and even the beach food is delicious and fresh with great variety. The Spa was incredible. We feel at home at Iberostar and will be visiting many more around the world because of our stays at Paraiso Maya and Paraiso Lindo.

Our stay at Iberostar was good but I would not book here again. Here are my reasons why: they don’t have any elevators for the hotel buildings, the food for the restaurants and buffet was alright nothing memorable and not enough shuttles or we would be denied a ride (due to wristband color, a full shuttle, or ignored) so expect to do a lot of walking if you are looking to explore the resort. Last thing, which was very inconvenient you had to make reservations for the restaurants that require reservations the DAY OF specifically in the morning if you want secure a spot. This does not make sense especially when you want to relax and enjoy your vacation.

Our stay was ok and we weren’t very satisfied. There was no poolside service of food or drinks. Pool was not clean. There were so many Coati’s. We first thought it was cute seeing them around but then it became too much. They were running all around, in the garage cans, stealing food and drinks. The staff was average compared to other places we have stayed. We won’t ever return to this hotel. We did spend a day at their other resort, Lindo and that was very nice. If we do return to the area, we will stay at Lindo.

Pro: Hard working staff. Con: Staff is overworked, especially at pool bars and the Mexican Restaurant. Pro: Family room was nice, great for my family and two teens. Con: Beach is very small, believe the reviews!! They do a great job of managing seaweed but its very small, and reserving seats IS NO JOKE! I had to get up at 7 to get 4 seats. Con: Pool is just as bad, reserve seating is SERIOUS here..I realize I visited in July but the water is warm, almost hot. Felt like a hot tub. Con: If you expect a waiter or waitress to stop by your pool or beach chair and take your drinks, LOOK elsewhere. I have been to other resorts and its a common thing, YOU GET UP AND GO TO THE BAR for your drinks here.. Con: Mexican restaurant was the biggest disappointment. short staffed, waited over an hour to be seated and over 35 minutes to receive food. Other: The buffets were average, nothing special here. The resort is BIG, with them using a major paved "sidewalk" for golf carts to pick up and drop you off. Lots of walking. Again, I am not a picky person and have visited many resorts, this Iberostar was a disappointment, and will not return. Did I mention how overworked the staff is? The women and the bar and restaurants should be applauded.

Some of the staff was amazing, but most of them want to sell you on their timeshare the hotel offers (they don’t consider it a time share but it is). They are very pushy on it and feels like a scam. To get around the hotel you have to wait for a golf kart which will sometime take up to 15 minutes. Or you can just walk to your room which is not convenient at all. Was the biggest inconvenience. The food made me have the runs 4 days into the trip, the cups were always dirty. The biggest issue we had were BED BUGS. We let the manager know on the second to last night and they didn’t have a room they could swap us to so they offered to fumigate the room which I felt super uncomfortable after since it’s chemicals. This place was the worst trip I’ve gone to vacation at Forsure.

An excellent hotel, which is very well maintained and super clean. Rooms are slightly out of style, but are super clean, with perfectly white sheets and nice firm beds. The area is a mix of preserved jungle and all the niceties of an all inclusive resort. Great staff with a special shout out to Arís our concierge who took excellent care of us. Drinks are good, family friendly, beach has plenty of pure sand sea entries (if you have been to Riviera Maya you know that rocks can occur) where you do not need water shoes and it's fairly shallow at the beginning so little ones can play

ZANCUDOS A MORIR!! entiendo que hay que mantener el ecosistema, pero la cantidad de zancudos que hay en el lugar es exagerado!! No puedes desayunar comer o cenar a gusto aun con repelente, podrian fumigar para mantener la poblacion de zancudos controlada, fue de lo mas incomodo y desesperante estar rascandonos y corriendo por todos lados para que no nos picaran porque parecen inmunes a los repelentes incluso al que te dejan en la habitación del hotel. En cuanto a limpieza no se si me toco que la persona que limpiaba mi habitación no le gustaba su trabajo pero si no era lo mejor. Incluso llegamos a ver cucarachas dentro de la habitación y las sabanas sucias de recién que llegamos. La propiedad es algo antigua pero pe dan buen mantenimiento. Todo el personal es amable. Las bebidas no son lo mejor pero la comida si esta muy rica.

We were here for 9 days and would definitely stay here again. The staff was great, the grounds, restaurants and our room were SO clean and well maintained. Nice variety of restaurants to choose from as well.

Although the rooms we kept fairly clean there was 1 giant cockroach about 1inch long in our shower, the pool needed allot of attention, dirty pool, entertainment was 3 out of 10. At the beach, the Coati animals were everywhere making it impossible to sit and eat peacefully, we always had to stand and eat, some were somewhat aggressive and would not hesitate totale your food right out of your plate. At checkout staff refused to honor our hotel certificates.We will not be returning to this resort. There are many others in the area for less money, and better quality food, entertainment and cleanliness.

Beautiful and lush grounds with pools that meander throughout the expansive property. Very clean and well maintained. Great family destination with an outstanding kids club. Dining choices were endless and varied. Beach was not as pristine as it used to be, with some sargassum and numerous jellyfish.

The property was beautiful and well kept. The property was also HUGE!! If you have ANY problems with walking, don’t count on the golf cart shuttles to help you very often. (They are rare to catch) The rooms in Del Mar are as basic as they come. (Borderline yucky and definitely not luxury) The shower had little to no pressure, the toilet was on the fritz, the lights turn off every 20 minutes because it’s on a timer, there are only 3 channels in English. If you want to use the gym or the water slides, that’s extra. Any don’t fall for the whole $300 resort credit per room per stay. It is just a bunch of useless coupons. I believe that I booked the wrong hotel because I stayed here 20 years ago and I was so impressed!! (Definitely not this time) The food was ok, the staff was great. I am disappointed that I booked at the wrong resort. If you are going to stay with Iberostar, don’t stay at Del Mar!! I will probably search out a new chain from here on out when I visit Mexico again. I kept raving about how nice this resort will be and it was a disappointment.

We enjoyed our week at Iberostar Del Mar. It was a wonderful family vacation. The staff was incredible! Everyone was super friendly & service was always great! Pool area had activities going on daily. There were a couple of things we weren’t happy with. 1st & biggest issue were the beds. They are awful. It was by far the worst bed we’ve ever slept on. It was like a slab of wood. We had 2 rooms & both were the same. The 2nd issue were the resort credits. Any all inclusive we have stayed at we can use the credits towards spa, excursions & as a whole. They broke the credits down, $25 to the spa, $50 towards a water activity. That was very disappointing. We stayed at the Hard Rock a few years back. We had $600 in credits. We were able to use the credit to cover the cost of our dolphin excursion. Of course Iberostar didn’t disclose this in the booking information. Another area we were disappointed in was how they set up dining at the restaurants. The all inclusive restaurants were limited. For every 2 nights stayed you received 1 dinner at a restaurant. We received 3. The other evenings were a buffet. Again other resorts we have stayed allowed us access to the restaurants every day of our stay. The buffet food was good. Not great but good. Definitely a large variety. The wild life that live on the resort were awesome to listen to & watch. Even though there were things we weren’t happy with we still had a great vacation! Not sure if I would book with them again.

Everything was hot; *the room’s electricity turned off automatically when you locked the door/left the room, which made the room hot upon return *the ac in all the rooms have a max cold temp of 80*F (27*C) *most dining options are outside in the heat *the lobby is outside in the heat *Golf carts are inconsistent, forcing you to walk everywhere in the heat Food and resort quality was a mixed bag; *a lot of the food tasted alike, with exception for the Japanese Hibachi and Mediterranean restaurant *the drink quality was wildly inconsistent, with some bars being great while others where bad *the vendors at the pop ups seemed irritated at any question or request *the rooms and resort have some signs of aging, but nothing too dramatic Very classist design; *you are given a bracelet to wear during your entire stay, and are assigned a color based on what hotel and level you are at. If you are blue, you are treated like trash and barred from a lot of the amenities. If you do insist on going to this resort, do yourself a favor and pay more for the mid or high class level. The Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar was such a great experience through and through! Check in was incredibly smooth, getting our room keys & towel cards, and an explanation of the whole resort and amenities. I would definitely agree with their status as an "eco resort", they are entirely single use plastic free when it comes to the customer experiene. When it comes to drinking water they provide glass water bottles and water & ice fill stations in every building. No single use plastic cups or cutlery. The shampoo, conditioner & body wash are in pumps in the shower, not tiny bottles. The food was incredible - this was my number one requirement when picking a resort and they did exceptionally well, the buffet always had a great selection. You also get a free "a la carte" dinner for every 3 nights that you stay, we went to the Japanese & Mexican restaurants, and both were fantastic. We never had a hard time finding chairs & an umbrella at the beach, no matter what time of day we went down there. The wifi was another INCREDIBLE surprise! Completely free, and it reaches the entire property, we had no problem streaming music all the way down at the beach, or watching videos in our room. There's multiple resorts that you can walk between, and there is just so much to see, can not recommend this resort enough!!

Pros: The breakfast buffet was beyond delicious! The rooms were clean and the staff was extremely helpful. Cons: This property is older. Rooms where average. Room amenities are average at best. Flat screen TVs are not Smart TVs. No 24/7 room service. They share a compound but do not have access to all the pools. This is a 3.5 star resort. 4 stars on a good day only because the staff will do their best to accommodate each guest.

Stayed in building 11. It really needs to be painted inside and out. Staff were incredibly helpful and food at the Smokehouse and the Italian restaurant was amazing. Staff did push the Club several times but we just politely said no. The only improvement outside of the paint, would be to somehow control the beach trolls selling merchandise. At least 10 times a day we were approached to purchase goods.

Right when I checked in, I was met by Alejandro, the supervisor at the check-in desk. He informed me that since I booked through Expedia, I would have to pay an extra $560 for a child, since the child rate on Expedia and their website is different. After numerous attempts to explain that through Expeida, a child is from 2-17 years of age and that either way, a child and an adult were the same price, he did not want to check us in. Even went as far as saying that this issue wasn't his problem and that if we don't like it, we don't have to stay in the hotel. Rather than trying to understand the situation and assist, he made us stay in the lobby for THREE hours, which doesn't have AC, and didn't even allow us to get lunch till I had to solve the situation with Expeida, which took another hour on the phone. Let alone, he and the rest of the staff were very hard to understand, and they didn't have a friendly way of interacting with the guests.

Some of the staff were very rude and the others were very kind so its hard to do ratings. My rating is based off of those rude staff and feel bad for the rest of them. Food quality in the open buffets were just fine, in the other restaurants were just terrible and mundane. Area is huge so you need transport shuttles. They're supposed to be there every 5 to 10 minutes which us very long already, and they take even longer to pick you up most of the time. Don't pick this resort if you don't want your vacation to get ruined.

Pros: our view from building 10 was beautiful. Watched the sunrise from our bed. Room was clean. Seaweed was an issue but the resort cleans the beach often so it never piled up. Con: reservations were limited. We are a family of 6 and we were only able to eat as a family once. On our arrival on Saturday- the first and only dinner we could reserve was Wednesday for 6 people. If you’re a large group - you have to eat at the buffet often since dinner reservations are limited and difficult to get. Con # 2 : they over charged us. We have a last min cancellation. So I called in advance made the change - received a confirmation email. At check in they billed me for the old price overcharging me $951 . I didn’t notice since it was in pesos. It took me 3 trips to the front desk to finally get it fixed. Con 3: pool chair war is real! If you reserve early in the morning and go to breakfast - someone will move your things. Happened to us 3 times. Annoying! Con 4: keep everything in a safe. A couple we were traveling with had their wallet stolen from the room. After the room was cleaned in the morning - he assumed no one would be in their room again for the rest of the day. After the pool, he left his wallet in his backpack on a chair and went to dinner. When we returned - wallet was gone. iberostar’s fake police filed a report but still out cash. Luckily credit company noticed suspicious charges and began declining them.iberostar isn’t safe when they allow thieves to work there

Properly and staff were great. Rooms are clean and quiet but the showers have low pressure and not very warm. Lots of walking to get from rooms to food options. Food was average and the drinks were the low spot for me. My booking was for all taxes and fees included but they still charged me some bogus environmental fee on check out… lame. Plus the front desk staff really wants to sell you some breakfast and sales pitch for their time share thing… lame. Beach has lots of seating options and the pools were very nice. The grounds are lush very well maintained. Overall a good place for a fair price but the drinks and food need some work. Many areas of the property are restricted depending on your booking status.

Beautiful property, entire staff was a pleasure to interact with from housekeeping to front desk. The only negative was the endless am calls to try to go to their one and a half hour timeshare spiel. Other than that, place is amazing.

We stayed Jan2-Jan 9. The resort was beautiful clean and for the most part staff was great. Until we got to the membership pitch. Since we weren’t interested we were dismissed treated with less importance because we didnt want the membership. we didnt get checked on after we turned down the membership. Kind of rude but sure we can over look that. But unfortunately we won’t be returning to this resort because of the infestation of “cuatis” or nasua animals. These animals are over populated on the property and walk up take your food and drinks with no fear of being shoed off or anything. I sat down at a picnic table that is right next to the restaurant and these animals came out from the trees and shrubs jumped on my table and took my food. Didn’t even flinch after I tried to shoe them off. Instantly I had over 15 of these animals on my table taking my food. There are garbage cans on the side walk next to the bleach but are locked. So patrons just put there garbage on top of the cans anyways because the staff told them to leave it there. And then they get these animals all over the cans. We even went golfing and were warned to not leave our wallets or phone in the golf cart because they will get on the carts. Sure enough during our round of golf they invaded our cart took our drinks and searched for food. This is very unsafe and not clean at all. They’re just over sized rats. Resort needs to control the population of these animals and keep them from invading eating areas.

You need an app to reserve (which everyone has everything reserved in advanced) or go early morning and try which by the time you go, everything is reserved. I couldn't eat at any of the places I wanted to eat at, and the walk-in places had long waits. Aside from that, it was a very nice stay.

This was our 10th time staying at an Iberostar resort and most likely our last. The glamour has worn off. 1/4 of the staff definitely were amazing and the other 3/4 made us feel like we were bothering them. We attempted to make dinner reservations 4 times with the concierge and were told to come back and talk to their partner. We finally just asked the front desk and they helped with one . However if we wanted to sit in a 3 hour timeshare meeting, the concierge could help us. We think this is their main priority now. Our room was dated, no comforter, curtains falling off and the bathroom sink counter literally fell apart. The pool and beach area were not very clean, we saw some trash that wasn’t picked up for days. Very little poolside service and bartenders were under staffed. We love Mexico and will be looking for different resorts!

Beautiful property with all kinds of natural wildlife. The staff is excellent. The beach is buried in seaweed right now, i don't think that's normal there, but it was unusable during my stay. The property is far from town, so if you like to go to Cancun, it would be difficult. No need to leave the resort. Absolutely everything you need is there. I loved it.

Beautiful property. Be ready to walk a lot as it is multiple hotels in one gated community. The restaurants span between them. Coffee shop dont open till 9. Pool spacious. Staff friendly.
Beautiful property. Be ready to walk a lot as it is multiple hotels in one gated community. The restaurants span between them. Coffee shop dont open till 9. Pool spacious. Staff friendly.

The staff were so nice, the room was great, and the facilities were nice! The kelp on the beach was a bummer but other than that the beach was beautiful and perfect. We were bummed that there was no windsurfing as advertised and that there was basically no snorkeling (we could use the snorkels but were told there was nothing to see because there were no good snorkeling areas nearby).

Property has lots of beautiful tropical greenery as well as local animals and is very quiet and peaceful. The distance from lobby to beach requires little bit of walking but it's very pleasant. The only thing is that lobby area was hot, it may needs bigger celling fans.

We had a fantastic vacation at this resort. The food was pretty good, with the exception of the Smoke House - that was fantastic! The bed was comfy, the pool was amazing. the beach was pretty rocky but that could have just been where we were sitting. We didn't wander down the beach to see if it got better. Highly recommend! There were so many wild animals living on the property it was a game of 'I Spy' every time we walked around the property.

Wonderful Stay at Iberostar Waves Paraíso del Mar! We had a fantastic stay at Iberostar Waves Paraíso del Mar! The resort was exceptionally clean, the food was delicious with plenty of variety, and the staff was incredibly friendly. Joe from the club stood out—he was so welcoming and made our experience even better. One of the highlights was the beautiful wildlife around the resort. We loved seeing peacocks, black and white swans, flamingos, and even chameleons roaming freely—it made the atmosphere even more special. The only downside was the drinks, which could have been better, but everything else more than made up for it. Overall, a great experience, and we would definitely return!

My stay was lovely the only thing I would complain about is the shuttles need to run a little more frequently. The property is large and walking or waiting in that heat or humidity is almost unbearable. However I would stay again and recommend this resort to family and friends!

Beautiful and lush grounds with pools that meander throughout the expansive property. Very clean and well maintained. Great family destination with an outstanding kids club. Dining choices were endless and varied. Beach was not as pristine as it used to be, with some sargassum and numerous jellyfish.

This is best resort for a relaxing and quiet vacation. The staff is courteous and professional, the grounds are manicured and expansive. The many restaurants are varied and the food is top notch. I will definitely stay here again in the future.

It was great the facilities were amazing. People were so friendly. The food was the only thing that keep us from giving it a 5. We went on august and most food is outdoors and with the heat the foods flavor is not as great: flies were near the fruit most of the time. Aside from that it was great

The property was pretty and the restaurants were good. The worst part was that some of the buffets were open concept and no enclosed with air conditioning. The blue line transportation that was supposed to come around every 15 minutes was no where to be found and we had to walk most of the time, and were already sweating on the way going, eating, and returning from our dinner, and breakfast.

Properly and staff were great. Rooms are clean and quiet but the showers have low pressure and not very warm. Lots of walking to get from rooms to food options. Food was average and the drinks were the low spot for me. My booking was for all taxes and fees included but they still charged me some bogus environmental fee on check out… lame. Plus the front desk staff really wants to sell you some breakfast and sales pitch for their time share thing… lame. Beach has lots of seating options and the pools were very nice. Check-in took about 20 minutes but that is normal, no complaints there. My biggest complaint was the food and reservation situation. You need an app to reserve (which everyone has everything reserved in advanced) or go early morning and try which by the time you go, everything is reserved. I couldn't eat at any of the places I wanted to eat at, and the walk-in places had long waits. Aside from that, it was a very nice stay.

Food was not very good at all. Very bland and my daughter and I ended up getting food poisoning one night. Beds were very hard and pillows were lumpy. Other than that the resort was beautiful and staff were very friendly. Lots of cool animals all around as well.

The Good: This resort is massive and definitely delivers when it comes to variety—plenty of pools, bars, restaurants, and activities to keep you entertained. We really enjoyed the wildlife throughout the property: flamingos, iguanas, and coatis were a delight to see up close. Most of the staff were friendly and professional, and our room was clean and comfortable, though the bed was a bit too firm for our taste. The Ugly Unfortunately, the experience starts on a sour note. As soon as you arrive, you’re pushed into booking a time share/vacation club presentation. Declining once isn’t enough—they ask again. Once you say no (for good), the tone from the concierge noticeably shifts. Speaking of concierges, you need them to make dinner reservations unless you want to constantly check your phone all day hoping something opens up. And yes, reservations are essential unless you’re fine eating at open-air buffets in the hot, humid jungle. That brings us to meals: breakfast is buffet-only and always outdoors with no AC. It’s steamy, sweaty, and frankly not appetizing when the food sits out for hours with flies coming and going. Lunch was best at the resort’s “Mall,” where you could grab freshly prepared tacos or burgers in air-conditioned spaces. For dinner, only the Japanese and Mediterranean restaurants had AC; the Smokehouse and Italian did not. We couldn’t get into the Brazilian steakhouse because, again, no reservation availability. $300 resort credit -misleading. Don’t plan on it

During my 7-day stay, we only managed to get a reservation at a single restaurant; the app almost always gave an error when trying to book, and the concierge would just insist that you had to use the app. The buffet and theater at the hotel where I was staying were out of service, meaning I had to walk to the buffet at the other accessible hotel for everything. Also, having a snack by the pool or beach was a struggle because of the raccoons—they wouldn't let you enjoy your food. Honestly, I expected much more from Paraiso Wave del Mar; if you're planning to go, you're better off choosing Paraiso Wave Beach or Iberostar Lindo—that’s just my humble opinion. Still, I did enjoy our stay—even if I expected more—thanks to the excellent staff, and because I don't let anything ruin my vacation, lol.

The positives: We went in low season so there were fewer people which was nice. There were many pools and it's very lush with lots of "wildlife". The buffet for breakfast was fairly good and dinner (we ate there once) was good but not enough variety/change at the lunch buffet. The staff was mostly friendly and helpful. The negatives: The beds are rock hard and although the room staff tried to help us, they didn't have the proper resources (foam mattress pads) to help make them more comfortable. I got very sick from the food/drinks on the third day so couldn't enjoy the food the remainer of our stay. I picked up parasites requiring medication and am still not well. It is a huge property so if you can't walk a lot, this isn't the resort for you. There were two (of the best restaurants - Italian and American) closed which was disappointing. A/C is not great in the rooms and the buffets don't have A/C which is difficult in the hot/humid seasons. Even though you say NO to the time share presentation, they continue to hassle you!

Staff was very helpful and friendly, rooms were clean and the property was beautiful. We loved seeing all the wildlife and they did a great job of cleaning up the sargassum grass off the beach every morning. My criticism would be with the restaurants and food. While you’re told there are 7 restaurants to eat at, 4 of them you have to make reservations for through the app. We were told we could book starting at midnight the day of. We tried numerous times at all times of the morning and the app just said “contact your concierge”. So we were only able to eat at one of the restaurants we wanted to. Also certain restaurants are only open certain days so it really limits you if you’re only there for a short amount of time. We also had to wait almost an hour to get our food after we ordered. Another complaint would be if you go to one of the other resorts pools, which we were told we had all access to, we were told we could not order drinks at the pool bars because it wasn’t our resort even though it’s all Iberostar. Also disliked being tracked down by the concierge any time we went to the lobby to sign up for their 1.5hr presentation for a timeshare.
