A guest in our group had their foot fall through the pool deck. The front desk staff checked on her multiple times that evening but no follow through past that. No compensation towards her or our stay. The room smelt of an old smoking room and urine. The beds were comfy and great for a night to rest between adventures.

Check in was fast and easy. We prefer the ground floor which was accommodated by giving us a different room when we checked in. The room is spacious with a desk to work at, microwave and fridge. The A/C worked well and they offer a decent breakfast. They have coffee available 24/7. If you need to do laundry the prices for their machines to wash and dry are less than pretty well any other motel we have seen charge. There were plenty of electrical outlets to plug into for my laptop and to charge our devices. The Internet was reasonably fast and reliable. They have a small Gym and a pool although we didn't use either of them. If in the area, we would definitely stay here again.

Stacey, Elaine, and Theresa were wonderful to us. The rest of the staff, not so much. There are not enough maids to clean, and the construction workers that stay there are horribly messy. The property is NOT ADA compliant. All they needed to do was save one or two rooms on the first floor for us with canes, but NO they gave all those rooms to the healthy construction workers. There was no elevator, so the poor lady at the desk with MS had to lug my luggage up the stairs since I couldn't since I was using a cane. I asked for a rubber bath mat for the shower so I wouldn't slip and fall, so they gave me a cloth towel...The tub was too high for a little old lady to climb over and there was only a grab bar on the wall farthest from the shower head. There should have also been one on the back wall and the wall by the shower head. They are just asking for a lawsuit when someone gets hurt and ends up sueing them. They need to get their act together, learn about customer service (when the TV went out and the message on it says if having problems see the front desk, so I did. The lady there basically told me it wasn't her problem, that she knew nothing about cable tv cause she didn't have it at home nor the internet (do I hear dueling banjos playing?)) No concern, nor saying that she would make inquiries. Customer service? What is that? Don't stay here, it is understaffed and the owner is basically a slumlord.

I called ahead and asked for first floor room which staff first said they couldn’t do. This was in late afternoon. However they did find one for us when we arrived for which I was grateful since there is NO elevator at this property. There is coffee and cold cereal in morning but plenty of other eating places around. Hotel room very dirty—clearly hadn’t been cleaned well—found trash on floor. However it was quiet and all staff pleasant and helpful.

The front desk staff was very friendly and very nice. Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable but the outside needs a little work. It was not very receptive friendly. It needs to be updated. We knew that they only supplied a continental breakfast but when I left at 7 AM there weren’t many choices left this needs to be better stocked.

We arrived late on a very cold, sub zero night. They had our room ready and waiting for us. In fact, they had already turned on and cranked up the heater in the room hours earlier so it was wonderfully warmed up and inviting.

There was a dirty wash cloth hung over the shower rod, dried and stuck. Used soap on top of the shower ledge. The shower was dirty with soap scum. You could see it all over the shower. Dried soap ring on the shelf. Moved a chair and was dirty behind the chair. Bed was clean and comfortable. Mirrors were dirty. You definable get what you pay for.

The staff was kind and helpful. The property itself, including the room, was dirty and unkept. I stayed three nights and there was no housekeeping for the room. The room and the hallway had a bad smell; the stairway you had to walk through to get to the hallway smelled hideous. I was in town for the dog shows and the hotel was very accommodating for me in this way. They have a limit of two dogs and allowed me to keep all four in the room which I appreciated very much. Everything just needed some major deep cleaning and updating.

Sadly, housekeeping was either non-existent, or both. Black and pink mold all around the tub caulk, the ceiling can in the restroom hasn’t been cleaned in a year or more, dust all around the edge of the room, and the counter with the TV had not been wiped with cleaner in some time, when whipped with a damp towel all the rings and dirt came up. The stairwells were … disgusting. Clods of dirt and unconsumed surfaces were everywhere in every staircase. The bead appeared to be pulled up but not made fresh. The light switch, which was tied to a light across the room had been disconnected, so you had to walk into a dark room. We finally figured out what light needed to be on for that switch to work. Screen windows hanging outside and visible disrepair all over the building. This place did NOT measure up to the chains standards. We didn’t even have breakfast knowing and seeing all these issues. Food was not happening. Though about pressing for a refund, but the prison at the counter, I am not certain they were all present to manage such a request. I don’t care to write poor reviews, but this was worth my trouble. I hope management addresses these significant challenges, or get replaced by someone who will. $85 isn’t much for a room these days, but NO ONE needs to stay in bacteria, dirt, and disrepair.

Rooms filthy upon arrival dirty tissues in night stand empty pop bottle next to bed used toiletry bottles dresser drawers all sticky. All around beds were food crumbs didn't looklike under sheet had been chamged in months. Huge stains on carpets bathroom outlet didnt work coffee maker didnt work microwave had huge burn from where it caught fire and stunk when trying to use overall filthy property. Breakfast was a joke if you weren't first 10 people down for breakfast you got cereal otherwise there were small amounts of dingdongs twinkies and honeybuns. But once they were gone they wouldn't get more out even with over an hour of breakfast left

The hotel smelled really bad, like something was rotting. My room was not clean, blankets were wadded and thrown up on the shelf in a heap, the bathroom floor was dirty, the tub had hair in it, and the screaming and yelling was the breaking point. I stayed for as long as I could but had to leave at 10:30 at night because it was so loud and uncomfortable. I really need a full refund because I had to go to a different hotel for the whole weekend.

Very uncomfortable, found mold in bathroom tub, very dirty and mold behind commode. Unusual odor in room. Staff answered questions but seemed to be uninterested in being friendly. There was a bench outside that the back was broken off and in 2 pieces creating an unsafe area for anyone. I did not eat there so can’t say anything about the food.

While the room was big and spacious , the property needs to be refurbished as it’s dated out of the 1970’s. The breakfast included cereal, tea, coffee, juice and pre packed buns, it was more like a snack not breakfast. I won’t stay here again.

I was in Ann Arbor one evening and in Toledo the next day, so Dundee was exactly halfway in-between. The American Inn and Suites is nothing fancy, but for the price (low $50), it was just fine. The room was outdated, but the bed was comfy and I slept like a log. Wi-fi worked well, good shower pressure. Not much of a breakfast offered (nearby restaurants fill that bill), but the 24-hour coffee was good. No complaints for what I paid; I would stay here again under the same circumstances.

Both air conditioners were not working, has to ask for clean bedding, and the tv was broken. The chairs in the "sitting area" were gross and covered in stains. The staff did bring clean beddings when asked, and checkingin and out was easy.

TL;DR - hotel cancelled my reservation and robbed me. The hotel called me on the day of my stay to inform me they were overbooked and had to cancel my reservation, but I would not be charged. However, I prepaid on Expedia. I called the hotel a couple days later to inquire about my refund. The manager said she would approve the refund and told me to submit a request through Expedia. Expedia later informed me the hotel declined my refund-request. I called the hotel again. The manager informed me that they recently had an audit which would "make it difficult to refund my money", so I did not receive a refund. The manager was very friendly, but I was robbed of $80. Don't stay here. You might get robbed too.

When we arrived we saw undated signs about a water disruption and active boil order on the door, so they recommended bottled water for drinking and brushing teeth but provided none. When we asked the desk staff about it, they said it was lifted and the signs should have been taken down, which was inaccurate and dangerous information since the boil order was still in effect. In the morning there was no hot water and no coffee or juice in the breakfast area. In addition, the doors to outside were also propped open with signs asking not to do that since it was against fire code, and the room was poorly maintained although reasonably clean. When we chose to check out early after one day of our three day stay, we found out that the boil order remained in effect so the night staff had misinformed us and the hotels water system was damaged by the disruption leading to no hot water. The hotel had already charged our credit card for the entire stay and denied our request for a refund made with the assistance of Travelocity staff of the remaining unused two days of our stay, even though they had unsafe conditions with inadequate accommodation for their guests and poorly informed night staff. We will never stay here again even though we had stayed before and found the hotel acceptable in the past.

It took almost an hour to get checked in and I still was unable to get into my room. I had to go up and down the stairs 5 times to swipe my key and it never worked. This place canceled on 3 other people and told someone they canceled on them when they never contacted them. I ended up never getting into my room and left the place. They were not accommodating and seemed to have no idea what was going on. I am still working on getting reimbursed since they are not answering the phone and saying the manager is not available. Expedia has been working with me on trying to reach them. But overall a terrible experience and would recommend any other hotel in the area.

I truly have enjoyed my stay at the American inn and suites staff all extremely friendly and miss pat was my first person at the front desk that day of my reservations and had handled everything accordingly and perfectly for me to also extend our stay.. her having the same name as my mother Patricia I told her I could never forget her smiling face and beautiful name Thank you for such a pleasant experience my dogs also loved the evergreens all around the property..

From the moment we walked in from doing a last minute hotels.com booking until extending our stay an extra day and everything in between- the staff were nothing short of friendly, acommodating, and offered amazing hospitality! Pat at the front desk and Hannah were both great - just to name a few! If an issue arose, they worked right away to fix it - no matter how small. For instance, our AC had went out last night - they switched us rooms right away and this morning they were already working to fix that one for the next guest!! I do not have one bad thing to say about this hotel! Thank you for evetything and next time we are back this way - we will definitely stay at American Inn and Suites!! These people really strive to make your stay remarkable!

This is an older facility, kept clean, with comfortable beds and bedding. The staff was excellent and friendly. Facilities are basic, breakfast is basic fare (with hot coffee!), and be sure to get a first floor room if you can’t manage your luggage upstairs. We were happy to be in 2nd floor, a bit away from road noise. Hotel is within walking distance of historic village and riverside park, as well as plenty of eating options, fast food or otherwise.

I knew when I booked this hotel, I was taking a 50/50 chance based on other reviews. But thought ppl were just being over critical. Not the case.... checking in they told me they were overbooked on the room i reserved, so they knocked me down a room and didn't credit anything for the downgrade. The room was very dirty, there was no way someone cleaned and vacuumed and left that much dirt. The sheets appeared clean, but had lots of strands of hair on them that were not mine. We all slept fully clothed. Bathroom was filthy, we all refused to take showers. Tv didn't work, and one wall outlet had wires exposed. Smell in the office/breakfast area was very overpowered, made you want to gag. Breakfast was just a couple packaged snacks and cereal. We were only staying the night, but couldn't wait to check out

The hotel was average, the room was clean, but our bathroom looked like it was in the middle of a remodel, and the toilet didn't flush easily. They did come and try and fix it. Breakfast was not at all quality just cereal, and a few fruit. The coffee machine made coffee that was less than good. overall for an overnight stay i would say its ok but not with a family.
