A little hostel type inn near the train station in Hakuba, walkable distance from many shopping and dinning options, as well as close to the bus stop to take you to many hill in the area. The inn is as charming as the Seiko the owner, a sweet lady who treats you more as family than a customer. A very affordable option for the area.

This is an airbnb/ hostel style. But the service and cleanliness and level of the people that book here are nothing like most hostels. The host is AWESOME! She does everything to make her guests feel good and welcome. Breakfast is simple but efficient and good. The room was cozy, clean and all amenities worked great. I would stay here again but truly, it’s the host that makes this place excellent. She truly cares for her guests.

Traveling on a budget, don’t plan on spending a lot of time in your room (other than sleeping), this is the place for you. West coast inn was just a short walk from the train/bus station and the late night shuttles. The bathrooms are shared with other guests but they were very clean and we never had to wait to use the facilities. The host is so sweet and more than happy to share her restaurant recommendations. The breakfast was simple but perfect fuel for a day of snowboarding. Would stay again.

Good find for last minute in winter high season. It's basically a hostel. The common area and kitchen could be spruced up. The heater in the room was either too hot or had to be turned off. I opened windows and left it on to find the sweet spot. The bathrooms were down the hall and in a very cold hallway. Location was close to train station, close to shuttle to some resorts, Happo was 20 minutes away by walking or ¥800 on the infrequent bus. I walked. There are some decent restaurants close. Not as many as happo or Echoland, but you can walk or taxi to those places, if you have a reso, as most of them get booked out in advance in high season.

The host Seiko, an mature Japanese lady is extremely hospitable and friendly. She makes you feel at home. The property is a little old but reasonably clean. Simple breakfast is provided. The room is spacious by Japanese standard. The facility is homely but not hotel standard. Bathroom and toilet is shared.

Location is convenient for train but the shuttle bus does not always stop at the near by station. They turn off the heat to the rooms during the day and you have to ask to have it turned back on. We were freezing after skiing for a good hour. The shower maxes out at below optimal temperature. The bathroom was dirty with pink mould in the shower and cobwebs in the corner of the room. The carpet was gross, and bedside lights did not work. You must bring your gear into your room if you want it to dry out overnight. The breakfast is bread coffee and cornflakes. The final night the bed frame collapsed and we had to fix it. The place seems run down and tired. The female owner speaks English and is lovely.

Wow! The property owner was super lovely and very helpful to pointing out things to do in Hakuba. Our room was very comfortable and the free breakfast was great. Very clean and tidy and only a 4 min walk from the train station. Highly recommended

We had 5 nights here for a snowboarding trip. It's not the ritz, but was warm, clean and comfortable. The inn is a 5 minute walk to the JR station, which is good for the valley shuttle buses and a few resturants. The host Seiko was also very helpful. Would stay here again.

The host was good to talk to and provided us simple vegetarian breakfast.But the house was not as good as in the pcitures. The room was not at all ventilated and the AC was not working at all. Even one of the 2 fans provided was not functional. We spent a restless hot night sweating .we tried to call the host twice but she was not available . Even though bit cheaper it was not value for money and i will not recommend this place.

The best thing about West Coast Inn are the owners who are very kind and helpful. The accommodation is hostel style, basic but with everything you need. The room was warm and cosy. The breakfast simple but enough, with decent coffee a bonus.

This is honestly one of the best places I've ever stayed. The host is amazing and incredibly friendly. The room was really cozy and clean. The included breakfast was a lifesaver! There are timetables and phone numbers available for the various buses and taxis that can take you to the different resorts and stores for snow sports equipment rental. All in all it was a great experience. Would stay there again any time!

Everything about my stay was welcoming and warm. The owners take great pride in making sure you are well informed and happy. Very convenient to the bus station and all ski shuttles. The primary town and restaurants are best to uber to. If you are in town to ski, and that’s your primary focus, then this will serve all your needs.

We had 5 nights here for a snowboarding trip. It's not the ritz, but was warm, clean and comfortable. The inn is a 5 minute walk to the JR station, which is good for the valley shuttle buses and a few resturants. The host Seiko was also very helpful. Would stay here again.

A little hostel type inn near the train station in Hakuba, walkable distance from many shopping and dinning options, as well as close to the bus stop to take you to many hill in the area. The inn is as charming as the Seiko the owner, a sweet lady who treats you more as family than a customer. A very affordable option for the area.

Everything about my stay was welcoming and warm. The owners take great pride in making sure you are well informed and happy. Very convenient to the bus station and all ski shuttles. The primary town and restaurants are best to uber to. If you are in town to ski, and that’s your primary focus, then this will serve all your needs.

Traveling on a budget, don’t plan on spending a lot of time in your room (other than sleeping), this is the place for you. West coast inn was just a short walk from the train/bus station and the late night shuttles. The bathrooms are shared with other guests but they were very clean and we never had to wait to use the facilities. The host is so sweet and more than happy to share her restaurant recommendations. The breakfast was simple but perfect fuel for a day of snowboarding. Would stay again.

Good find for last minute in winter high season. It's basically a hostel. The common area and kitchen could be spruced up. The heater in the room was either too hot or had to be turned off. I opened windows and left it on to find the sweet spot. The bathrooms were down the hall and in a very cold hallway. Location was close to train station, close to shuttle to some resorts, Happo was 20 minutes away by walking or ¥800 on the infrequent bus. I walked. There are some decent restaurants close. Not as many as happo or Echoland, but you can walk or taxi to those places, if you have a reso, as most of them get booked out in advance in high season.

perfect for a couple nights while snowboarding at the ski hills nearby! the lovely lady, who i’m assuming is the owner, was just the sweetest lady. she was more than happy to help us sort out transportation around town and to the ski hill, make dinner reservations for us, and drive us to the shipping outlet to ship our bags to the airport. i would absolutely recommend, and i will definitely be back!
