I've stayed many times at this hotel, and other Holiday Inn hotels in Australian and overseas, but this was easily the worst check-in experience - more than 20 minutes of waiting. Ignored the pre-booked parking as part of the booking and made us book via a QR code on the counter. Then when we returned from dinner it took 20 minutes to get into the room because the lifts were barely operating. No answer of the phone or the call button downstairs.

Advertised as 4.5 star hotel, when I asked for room service at 7 am in the morning staff replied “there is no room service you have to come down and get it ”. It’s normal that you expect room service when you stay in 4 star Hotel, pathetic never again stay with holiday inn

The carpet was dirty and had not been cleaned before we arrived. After the first night we put the room service sign out for it to be cleaned. After we came back the floor still hadn’t been vacuumed. The surfaces in the room were dusty and the walls were dirty as well. On a positive note it’s in a great location.

Our room wasn’t the cleanest it could have been. I wanted them to do housekeeping one of the days but all they did was turn the sheets over. I knew this because there was a stain on one of the sheets that had been on the outside and was now on the inside. There was also something very sticky on the bedside table giving me the idea they didn’t wipe any of it down between guests. That’s my only complaint.

Only thing I didnt like was how the Bathroom was made. I really feel like the shower could have been made better, than a door that lets water out onto the floor every time you get out of the shower. Also the fan didnt seem to work at all. Other than that was good stay.

Great Location - easy walk to the city centre. Lovely accomodation only problem for me was the room set up not good for privacy if you are sharing with anyone . Wall between the shower/ bathroom and the bedroom was only a tinted glass ! not great if you are sharing with a family member or someone you dont want to see you while showering etc. I do not know if all the rooms are like this but ours was.

The hotel is conveniently located close to Southbank and the VIC Arts Centre, 15-20 minutes walk to Melbourne Park. We had a lovely view over the gardens from our twin room on level 18. The room was reasonably small but as expected with twin single beds placed very close together. The beds were comfortable apart from a plastic-topped pillow top on the mattress that was reminiscent of a hospital bed and noticeable when you moved around. Shower pressure was reasonable but the bathroom, which was separated from the bedroom area by frosted, patterned, translucent glass, had an unusual design with one door used to close off either the entire room or just the shower. It was good to have a tiled entry for wet umbrellas and an open wardrobe with room for a suitcase at the base, as well as a kettle in the room. The breakfast buffet of hot and cold offerings was reasonable but you need to get there before 9 am if you want a full selection of items.

The service is horrendous. Turned up and they didn't have my booking. Once that was sorted I waited over an hour for some arancini balls. This isn't my first stay here and something similar happened previously. When I asked for a copy of my invoice the person behind the counter said that I didn't get one because I didn't ask. I directed him to the sign on the desk that says an invoice would be emailed as part of the check out process. I will not stay here again.

Great value for money, great location, great breakfast but the line for check in was ridiculous and the worst I’ve struck. If heck in is at 2pm and your full or close to then why don’t you roster staff appropriately. The check in line was back to the elevators ( about 14 people in front of me )and 2 people on reception. The 2 staff were also on the phone, sorting out peoples internet and keys not working issues and it took over half an hour. Apart from that it was good .

Quite scary when after check in another group given our room also and walked in on us not once but twice (two different parties), made my wife quite anxious and nervous about getting undressed or leaving the room as who would be there on our return, finally got onto the duty manager who was apologetic and offered a bottle of wine compensation but when I went to get it I was unable to get back into my room as the access cards cancelled. Just a bad start to a nice weekend.

I have stayed here a few times and have normally loved it. Not sure if they have had a change of staff but their service was really poor. Front desk staff were really not friendly. House keeping didn’t clean our room, they just pulled out bedding up and took our towels and left us with none. Had to go to the front desk to get more as they would not bring us up any. There was one guy collecting dishes from the breakfast who was very nice.

We stay here each time we are in the city. Convenient location to trains, food and entertainment. The breakfast buffet is a bonus. The rooms are always clean and comfortable with everything you need. Check in this time was a bit of a mess. Having booked a room with a queen bed for our anniversary weekend we were told we had only booked 2 singles. Having checked my booking while at check in, I saw it was a queen bed reservation. The young man went on to "find" a queen room for us and then acted like he had done us a huge gesture. He then was unsure as to whether we had paid for our booking and had to go through many screens to confirm. It wasn't the best start.

Lights and aircon in just my room turned off in early hours of the morning (4.30am) and woke up suffocating as there was no ventilation in the room. Called reception and was told to wait until 8.00am when maintenance staff come to work. Did not bother calling in an emergency electrician. Then I insisted to speak to the manager on duty and they tried to reset the power. After few attempts luckily the power came back. Offered to change the room at that time of the morning when my sleep was already disturbed with the whole episode after a long day of work and travel. Very unprofessional in handling the problem. Next day at the check-out no sign of remorse or apology. Not staying there in future.

Check in was really bad. Booked there deluxe room shown as Queen bed when arrived was too single beds queen bedroom was unavailable after run one hour discussion and venting my frustrations. I went back online to book another room elsewhere and found that that hotel had six rooms left with queen beds. They made me upgrade and pay an extra $90 which I did very disappointed that what if would allow our hotel advertise and picture queen size bedrooms and then on arrival give you a room with two single beds in it. The lady at the counter was rude and unhelpful. I will be booking with stayscom from now on not happy.

We travelled to Melbourne for a concert at the Rod Laver Arena which was about a 20 min fairly easy walk. The hotel was also within walking distance to tram and train and Southbank. Great location and great breakfast with lots of variety. I would stay again, good value for money, nice room and friendly staff.

Check in was easy but we got to our room and it had been allocated to someone else Another room given to us and then I had a shower and went to use the dryer and it was broken so I had to go out with wet hair as the new one took too long to arrive Get to breakfast and the staff were run off their feet and I get my plate but no cutlery available A gentleman who had been waiting for it jokingly said “I dont think they want us to eat as I’ve been waiting ten minutes for a fork” Finally get cutlery to eat Breakfast not good Bacon was undercooked and there was no butter Overall breakfast was poor Given our stay happened to be at the start of the Australian Open, I would have to say that the hotel should have been better equipped to deal with such a busy time Will not be going back in a hurry

Typical IHG property, clean good service. The only thing that I have concerns with are the breakfast. The bacon is never cooked properly, it’s obviously just thrown in a backing pan to half stew and never get the chance to be crispy

Unfortunately our stay was not good at all. It started with us ordering room service to find that our order ( which was a process in itself) was not actioned and after a 45 minute wait for buffalo wings and fries and a glass of wine, we had to pick it up from reception and the wine did not materialise. Breakfast was ordinary with bad service . My husband walks with a wheel walker and we were jammed into a space when the staff closed the sliding door marking “ the end of breakfast”. Staff generally unhelpful and quite rude. Bathroom in our room had a n awful smell and the aircon couldn’t be altered. I also couldn’t contact hotel beforehand as Phone connection never worked.

We stayed here for five nights and it was a perfect location close to walk to the Yarra museums shrine of remembrance china town and 20 min walk to queen Victoria markets the room although small was of a good design making it feel bigger Hotel is clean and tidy The bed was uncomfortable The shower offered plenty of hot water with reasonable pressure Breakfast was included and there was plenty of choice We utilise their car parking within the hotel grounds on levels 1 to 3 at $35 per day The check-in reception is on level 7 all rooms are above that We use the cafe which offered a small selection of food we tried the pizza and it was quite nice, but they could not sell us a soft drink as they didn’t have any We would stay here again
