Great location, right next to the Hakodate JR station. The hotel is popular, that makes it crowded. The room is small, it has a dinning table which takes up a lot of space. The public bath is nice but full of people at all time. The 12F lounge area provides free coffee and tea which is very nice .

全体的に清潔感があり居心地のいいホテルでした。 12階の展望ラウンジからは函館山まで見渡せて、無料サービスの美鈴珈琲をいただきながら優雅な時間を過ごせました。大浴場はアメニティが充実していて、化粧水や乳液はもちろんですが、ヘアウォーターやボディクリームまであリました。ドライヤーがダイソンなのも嬉しかったです。函館駅直結で土産屋や飲食店もたくさんあるので、とても便利でした。

Very convenient if coming from JR Hakodate station since the hotel is accessible without having to go outside at all. The facility is new and modern. The pillow selection area is interesting but need to pick one early, as they run low as the day goes on. The public bath and lounge on the top floor is a nice touch.

Very close to the JR station, so it’s very easy to access. The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The female public pool felt slightly unclean. Other than that, the room is comfortable, no bottled water given but you can boil the water yourself.

The hotel is directly adjacent to the railway station; super convenient, you don't even have to step into the rain or sun. It is clean and efficient and good value. The room we booked was however tiny, and the "bathroom" consisted of a shower box (may 1.9m high), a with the sink in the room hallway itself. Staff barely speaks any English, but that is normal in this part of Japan. It's a very short walk to the fish market, with a great selction of seafood for breakfast and lunch. The hotel breakfast is quite good, though I'd avoid it and go to the market which is better. Overall, it is clean and efficient, though rather basic. The location is terrific though.

I had a wonderful stay at JR Inn Hakodate, and would absolutely recommend it—especially if you’re arriving by train, as the hotel is directly connected to the JR station, making it incredibly convenient. I booked a higher room category, and the room size was noticeably larger than the usual standard in Japan. If you’re traveling with luggage or simply want more space to relax, I can’t stress enough how important it is to upgrade to a bigger room—it really enhanced my comfort. Check-in and check-out were smooth and efficient, and basic amenities like a fridge and kettle were provided. Tap water is safe to drink in Japan, so that’s a big plus. While there’s no in-room coffee, I brought my own instant coffee. Alternatively, there’s a lounge on the 12th floor offering green tea and basic drip coffee—what it lacks in strength, the lovely view makes up for. The tram stop is just outside, giving easy access to major sights, but I also walked a lot and really enjoyed exploring the area on foot. Lastly, a small detail: I kindly pointed out some dust in the A/C vent to one of the housekeeping staff, who was very sweet and receptive. It’s clear the staff takes pride in maintaining a welcoming and clean environment. A peaceful, well-located base in Hakodate—great value, comfort, and convenience.

Very clean and modern hotel right next to the station. Fantastic view over central Hakodate from our room on the 11th floor. Friendly and accommodating staff who kept our luggage before and after check-out so we could go sight-seeing. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Hakodate. The best place we've stayed at in Japan so far.

Stayed one night in a twin room in between long travel days. Super conveniently located attached to the JR Station (and the shops there). Friendly and helpful staff. The staff at breakfast were especially lovely. Clean and well-stocked rooms. We had a nice walk along the waterfront to the Kanemori Red Brick Warehouses to stretch our legs and take in some sights.

I loved this hotel! It was located right in the JR station which was so very helpful when it took me a very long time to travel from Haneda airport in Tokyo to Hakodate via shinkansen. I was soooo relieved when I realized I didn't have to figure out where the hotel was, it was literally just right there! I lost my phone charger and cord in transit and they were kind enough to lend me one and give me directions to the nearest electronics store. I know a little bit of Japanese so that helped with the communication as they didn't know too much English. One super cool perk of this hotel is that they had what was called the pillow corner. In a part of the lobby there was an area where if you wanted a different pillow from the standard issue you could "shop" around in this super cool little pillow library. There were signs and labels indicating the softness and hardness level and displays showing what material was inside the pillow. It was soooo amazing! I like a harder pillow so I was happy to find one that fit my preferences. The hotel is so perfectly located right across the way from the morning market. Very convenient! And I could see Mount Hakodate from my window. I only stayed two days in Hakodate, it was my first time in Hokkaido and I split my trip between here and Sapporo. I really super enjoyed it and wish I had scheduled more time on my trip from this area. If I ever return I will definitely stay again at this hotel. Highly recommend!

We had a great holiday staying at JR Inn Hakodate. The location is perfect! The clean, new and stylish building is adjacent to Japan Rail Station. Hakodate’s famous morning markets and seafood restaurants are also just a few steps away. The rooms and facilities are very functional, too. “Hot Spring” public baths are available on the top floor together with free coffee services. Also, there are coin operated washing machines available for the guests. But the most impressive thing about this hotel is their friendly and sincere staff. In fact, after we flew back to Tokyo, Mr. Miyazawa of the hotel called us about the coin purse my husband left in the room, and he kindly sent it to us. Mr. Miyakawa’s act just shows their sincerity and hospitality. Would love to go back to the hotel soon!

Located within Hakodate JR Station, just across the Seafood Morning Market and all other fantastic restaurants. A few steps from the Tram station. Our view from the 8th floor BR gave us full view of the Hakodate Mountain and the Observatory and of course, the famed Morning Market.

Very very near and besides Hakodate train station. 3 minutes walk. Superb breakfast. Well planned room and toilet with segregated shower. 5 minutes walk from seafront and restaurants. Train station 2nd floor have nice dining options.

This was a return visit to the hotel. The room is compact but very well presented. The staff were excellent. The only downside for some would be the breakfast buffet which is a magnificent Japanese spread. It is unashamedly for Japanese guests or those that enjoy this cuisine. There is a total lack of western choice. We enjoyed ourselves.
