Palmerston Luxe Hotel

Stairs with mo elevator so hauling luggage was a pain but good amenities, clean, comfortable, convenient. Some thongs a it worn but not am issue for me. Would dtsy there agson as first choice.

We booked a private room not a dorm: Pros: very helpful friendly staff, private bathroom, mini fridge, kettle boiler, coffee maker, airconditioning, area is nearby to all essential amenities, walking distance to shopping, Loblaw, Dollarama, public park, coin laundry across the street, convinient code access Cons: older building, small room, shower is not isolated from rest of bathroom, very small sink, surrounding area may have noisy people at night, not sure about parking/didn't use a private car, no elevator but staff are ready and happy to help in luggage. Overall, it was satisfactory for our stay of 6 nights in Toronto

Close enough to parking options with parking garage about half a block a way. Decent area. Had minor hiccup with dying battery on door lock but other than that good stay. Staff were real friendly and excellent to me the whole time.

Don’t expect much. This isn’t a luxury hotel. Also paid parking is required constantly in the area.

We received an address for public parking and had to find for ourselves. Room very small and had glass walls for bathroom. Located right on Queen st. The entrance was a door in the wall with zero signage and the room was located upstairs on top of A&W

Good price for Toronto. I booked a private room, but there are dorms available as well. Clean room, unique decor… mine was very dark wallpaper, that was unexpected, but not in a bad way. It’s located on Queen W, which has a weird mixture of bars, Cannabis shops, and barbershops around it. I didn’t feel unsafe in the area, but some might. This is probably more suited for a younger demographic. There’s no front desk, in fact, I never saw a staff member during my stay… you get a code for the door and your room after an online check in, and that’s it… I’ve run into the same in Europe a couple of times now… not sure how I feel about it yet. Would I stay again? Maybe, if I can’t find anything more central for a reasonable price in the future. Overall a good stay.

This was a solid placs to stay. Property owner keep the rooms clean and there is a mini-fridge & micdowave in each room. There is a flight of stairs to the first floor of rooms, and the fewest people in each room is 4 ppl in bunk beds. Bring your own towel, as they are not provided. Really safe thoigh, separate front door codes and individual room codes. Great for a budget stay!!

There was no tv. I didn’t like that

This convenient location provides a good bed and a toilet and shower in each room. There is internet access that is reliable as well. The price is right and leaves money for fun on Queen Street anf downtown !

The wifi would never kick in at all always said get closer to the area so wasted my own data every night

All the people that complained they didn't have a room when they arrived, is because they didn't fill out the info requested after your reservation. The staff was incredibly friendly, explained how to use the keyless locks & was prompt at helping me with the keurig machine. I am a professional cleaner & the place was CLEAN. It was also low scent which is very important to me

For the price the hotel is quiet good, great location, clean and quiet, only complaint was the air conditioning was not that good, but I saved a pile of money staying here so I would stay again

There’s bedbugs on the bed and blankets!!!!!!

Place was absolute littered with bed bugs. Will not be staying again. Do not recomment.

For the price of the stay, it's good for the price, the mattresses are thin foam and the pillow was thin and lumpy, the shower looked gross, and the rooms were kind of dusty, but there were enough plugs, a microwave and a mini fridge, the soundproofing is good, I didnt hear other rooms, didn't see any signs of bedbugs, the rooms were pretty secure, although fair warning the pictures show safes, and there were none in my room so I'm not sure if they're in all the rooms. But it's a super convenient location to spend the night, especially if you're catching an early flight. You get what you pay for here, for better or for worse

Excellent and clean

The room was cozy and clean. The layout included a functional sink and small kitchenette. The staff was very friendly and helped us carrying our luggage up the stairs. They also allowed us to store our bags after check out while we explored more of the city until we left to the airport. One area to improve is the window and shades, they were difficult to shut close. Despite the noise, we were able to sleep fine as we are not light sleepers. Overall, very nice stay, I'd recommend.

The soap in the room had a very unpleasant smell, and since I had forgotten to bring my own soap, it was quite bothersome. The lighting in the room was also very dim. However, overall, considering the price, everything was clean and decent. The bathroom, in particular, was very clean and had a pleasant scent upon arrival.

2 flights of steep and small steps. The back of my legs are scratched up. My shower was dirty, floor in shower looked un washed. Mold on the shower curtain. No where/shelf to put soap etc in the all in one wet room shower/toilet/sink room. The air conditioner kept not working and it was 39 degrees and mid 20s through the night. The secondary lock wouldn’t work. The area was very sketchy. A lot of dirt, homeless people. Our doorway smelt like sewage every day. I could keep going. I have pictures of you need to see them.

I didn’t like the way the bathroom in the suit was, it was a glass shower with a toilet, sink and shower all in one, the floor being wet and dirty every time I went in was gross, plus they had a tiny shower curtain over the glass doors so no privacy at all.

Daughter stayed in a private room which was excellent with good air conditioning and then spent last night in female dorm which had no ac and it was extremely uncomfortable.

Convenient location, but wooden bunk beds are shaky and might collapse; No AC, I left after 2 hours from heat exhaustion; Please put free liquid soap for shower and shower slippers

I expected some discomfort because of its price, but it was so uncomfortable to stay night. Fan of air-conditioning is so loud; I couldn't sleep very well. Air quality is so bad because there is no ventilation. Location of this Dorm is also not great. Only good thing is that it is in the downtown area.

No bathroom sink in the bathroom is very inconvenient, rather it is in the main dorm room with sleeping guests. Lack of heat is a major issue, and the one small space heater provided in the room does all but nothing. No discernable central heating. For the amount guests are paying to stay, the only reason for not keeping the rooms at an adequate temperature in the dead of winter is greed.

'Hotel' feels like a big word for this. It's really more of a hostel, which is fine, but should be advertised as such. Our room was FREEZING when we arrived, the window ac unit was blasting. There was no heat, luckily it was ok once I turned the ac off. The window also wasn't really sealed, so we could hear some activity outside, but it's a city location so that's to be expected (kind of, the window really should be more sealed). There were no extra blankets, which was disappointing, and only two towels (no extras). This is a fine place to spend the night, but it's not a 'boutique hotel'. The neighborhood is great, lively and very 'local' feeling. Overall it was fine, but expensive for what it actually is.

All and all this was a good spot to stay. It is very clear once you walk into the building that you are getting what you pay for. I was in town for the Taylor Swift Eras tour and I didn't want to have to pay a fortune. The room was small and you do not get to choose which bunk bed you get. I was on the top bunk which was hard to get on and off of. not to mention awkward when your roommate is sleeping. The blinds in our room did not go down so there was a lot of street light coming into the room. I also felt like every 5 minutes emergency response vehicles were flashing by. The bathroom was VERY small. It felt like the toilet was in the shower and there was no room to change. The bathroom sink was outside the bathroom in the main room which was good for getting ready, however there was no paper towel or hand towel. I was told ahead of time that you would need to rent a shower towel, but a hand towel should be provided. The mattress is very thin. I would say it was half the depth of a crib mattress. They also had a very thin pillow. There was 1 little blanket provided for each bed. I also didn't like that when you turn the main light off the ceiling fan turns off as well, and you were unable to control the room temperature and it was very hot in the room. If I was coming again for an event where the whole city was sold out and I had no other option I might come again, but I would bring more things to make my stay comfortable.

Jamal was an excellent host. He was always on site and at our beck and call. Contact was provided before our stay with clear concise instruction. Recommended, excellent location for seeing downtown Toronto.

I'm not sure if the place is under new management or just has new staff, but every other time I've stayed here has been great. This time, I never saw anyone when I came in; the guy working walked into the WOMEN'S room on my second day with no regard as to the fact that someone (me) was in the shower; and when I checked out, I left a few minutes after 11 am and still hadn't seen the cleaning staff. The floor seemed to have not been cleaned in a couple of days either, since my socks had a layer of dirt on them from walking around while I was packing to leave. Definitely not a good stay this time.

Booked for 2 ppl for 2 nights, showed up and were told only one person per room and that they’d only booked us for one night, but we could “most likely” stay in the hostel part of the building for the other night. Only thing staff told us was “they are all booked up”. While looking for a new accommodation we heard another group of girls come in and have the same conversation with the man as us, same promise was made to them that something “should” be available for our second night, website says no refunds but that’s now at least 4 people who never even checked into rooms and were told to not cancel by the front desk man. The service we received was hostile and put us in a potentially dangerous and unanticipated position as a result of the hotels lack of ability to book.

Il n'y a pas une reception accueille disponible, il n'y a pas un service disponible, tres compliqué pour y arriver, je suis arriver a 10pm et la porte etait fermé jai entendue 20 minutes dehors pour pouvoir comprendre quoi je dois faire puisque il n'y a pas un reception quand on arrive pour expliquer, mon experience terrible, le prix n'est paa d'accord avec la qualité.

The staff have a really bad attitude towards people who stay there

Terrible experience! Sink outside the bathroom - very unclean. Two bunk beds in one room. Noise disturbing my sleep. Worst part is the staff. There is a male Italian looking manager who mistreats guests. I had two trolleys he came down and started complaining and complaining right in front of my face to one of his colleagues saying “How do those people think” and using really disrespectful body language. He carried one trolley and yelled the f word. He then checked my booking and told me that I already booked with my friend - why does she not come and help instead with the bags. He later complains that I left my trolley bag inside the room open and starts a lecture with a smirk on his face threatening to make me leave. Terrible experience!

I didn’t find anyone. Didn’t get any key to get in and couldn’t stay. I want my money back. Please

Very good location. No staff after 10pm, no emergency office phone number if something unexpected happens after 10pm.

It was my first time staying there and genuinely its best if you are looking for a cheap, safe and centred in downtown Toronto! Its location I'd say is the best, near everything and you have a streetcar statiom literally in front of the hostel. Highly recommend it if you wanna get the maximum of enjoying outdoor activities and just wanna just the hostel for sleeping over and relax.

Parking! Oh did you want to park near the hotel? Not here I’m afraid. The have three parking lot options that are all over a mile away and a 25-45 min walk!! After a long day of traveling- to check into your hotel and find out you have to carry your luggage a half an hour to the hotel, and then back first thing in the morning. God forbid you would forget something!! Another hour round trip hike! I actually asked the hotel about the parking and they LIED saying it was only a 5 or 6 min trip. But they quoted us the DRIVING time!! Which - ofc so shady! Wouldn’t refund money. Difficult to work with. Stay elsewhere unless you like hiking with your luggage and leaving your car in strange, dark, small parking areas in not the best neighborhood.

Prime location, there is street parking if you’re lucky. Staff is friendly and nice. I would stay again. Worth the price

We did an overnighter in the spring to see a concert at the garrison. It was super convenient for location from union station as well as Billy bishop! Would recommend. Check in and checkout were super efficient. The only thing I’d recommend is double checking the doors lock behind you (esp your room. If the latch isn’t turned the right way your door is unlocked.). Absolutely not an issue at all though. Great value for price to be in downtown Toronto.

Had everyhting we needed. Close to wvryhting.Check in was easy. There was a crackhead scremaing outside for one of the nights till 4am. But not the hotels fault, just somthing to considee

Bad neighborhood..

I've stayed at the Palmerston in the dormatories several times for work and wanted to check of one of their suites. I was pleased to get a cozy room with a kitchenette, hot shower and a soft cozy bed for the weekend ! A concert within fifteen minute walk Saturday and I finished a novel on a peaceful Sunday. A great cafe across the corner ( and an A&W downstairs as well) and parking close for an early getaway. The Palmerston is a good deal.

The Hotel Palmerston was a reasonably priced affordable stay in downtown Toronto. Located at Queen & Palmerston, this old house converted into a small hotel was simple, but comfortable. The double room with one queen bed was clean, but small. The European style bathroom is literally a large shower stall with a toilet and tiny sink right inside the stall. Room included mini fridge and Keurig coffee maker. Wi-Fi worked well. Bed was comfortable. Room was overly warm, and could not turn down the heat, had to prop window open a little. After online check-in, door codes were sent for the front door and for the room. Did not see or communicate with any staff while there, though they did respond to my email, about parking prior to the visit. Central location, access to many attractions. Downfall of the location, very noisy. No extra amenities, for example, no pool, no breakfast, no workout room, etc. Would only recommend if looking for a very low price. Sufficient but not luxurious, you sacrifice the extra amenities, extra space and peace and quiet for location and low price!
