The office allowed us to check in early since our room was available. Hotel is very clean and comfortable. Parking below our room under a carport was also convenient for protecting our bicycles. River dock was perfect for enjoying our morning coffee.

We will definitely be back. Very nice pool and "beach" area by the river. Location is just a half a mile or so from downtown. The room was great. We didn't want to leave!

The room was clean and spacious. The bed was a little soft for my liking, but still comfortable. The area of Southport was nice. The check in lady was helpful and gave us a list of local food spots to try (which we did!). All rooms are accessed by stairs since elevator was not working which was inconvenient. I am not sure how people who rely on the elevator would do. We would stay here again.

Loved that they have daily housekeeping. It’s completely renovated so everything is up to date. The private pier was a great place to hang out. Will always live Southport for this experience despite my boyfriend and I breaking up during our stay. Or maybe because of it?

The place was really nice and we enjoyed our stay alot and we would definitely go back. The staff was great in accommodating our needs to be close to the river. The water pressure was great, the beds were comfortable, and loved how it had a mini kitchen with everything you need to cook. The elevator was great as well with having luggage. The only thing I suggest with room 105 is to have the trees cut more so we could of enjoyed the view more then what we had.

We had a wonderful time during our stay! The staff was pleasant, the views were lovely, and we really enjoyed being just a short half-mile walk from great restaurants, shopping, and a beautiful park area. The only downside was a musty smell in our room that seemed to be coming from the AC. Aside from that, everything else was great, and we appreciated the overall experience.

I wanted to love this place and hate leaving a negative review. If not for one giant issue this would be a 5-star review. But that issue is a deal breaker (at least for us) -- as soon as you walk in the room, you are overwhelmed by a terrible smell. It's a moldy, musty smell. And there's no way to make it go away -- it's so strong that our clothes smelled like mold when we left the room. The staff was very nice -- I explained the issue, they had me check several other available rooms in case they were better. But sadly the other 5 rooms I checked (different floors, different buildings) all had the same smell. It's really sad because these buildings look new, I don't know what is causing it or how it could even be fixed. But, it's a bad smell. Like black mold bad. There are positives. If you don't mind smells (or aren't sensitive to that) -- the buildings are new. The room itself was 100% spotless -- the cleaning crew is doing a great job (the smell must be coming from inside the walls or under the floor, or maybe the AC units). The view of the river from our room and little porch was absolutely beautiful. The location was close enough to downtown that we walked home after dinner at Moore Street Oyster Bar. And it's a really close location to the ferry, which was why we stayed there. Parking under the building was a nice perk and very convenient. So this would be a 5-star review, if not for the moldy smell. I hope the hotel owner can figure out the mold issue and fix it!

This hotel was one of the cleanest I have ever stayed at and the beds are so comfy. View of the River was amazing, you can see both the Bald Head Lighthouse as well as the Oak Island Lighthouse. Very peaceful and quiet yet close to shops and restaurants downtown, walking distance if you chose to walk! The private little river access and swing on the beach was a nice bonus. We will definitely be back.

The room was meticulously clean. They had a regular size refrigerator, a stove top and a microwave with a full kitchen sink. Open clean space everything looked freshly painted and cleaned. Parking was simple and there was plenty of it. The Riverview was amazing and it was only a couple minutes to the main road where they had shopping the river and dining.

It was like a herd of elephants was above us just running back and forth all morning and night. You can also hear every time anyone showers or flushes the toilet on either side of you. We never heard a TV or any noise like that however. It didn’t make the hotel undesirable- just keep it in mind or request to be on the second level if noise bothers you.

I chose a river view deluxe studio king room. It had a view of the river over an abandoned junk yard. The balcony was so small that two people could not pass one another to even sit down. When you sat in the provided chairs, you could not see the river due to the railing. There was sand in the bathroom and if you need a firm mattress, this is not the place for you. I was expecting so much more for the price I paid.

The River Hotel is a very clean and tidy complex, and the rooms are the same! That is always a top priority for me. We really liked the pool area facing the water and the beautiful new pier that you can walk out on and look at the sunrise and set. It was really nice to have a small kitchen in the room for snacks and drinks and you could even cook in there if you wanted to. My only negatives would be that it was extremely humid in our room, causing it not to get as cool as I would have liked for it to because of how the air felt. Also, the TV had no app choices so that we could not log into our Netflix or Prime accounts to watch a show that we wanted to watch at night. Although we could sit in the chairs at the table and watch a show the couch back was to the same wall as the TV so there was nowhere to really watch TV except for the bed. It’s a really nice place and a great place to stay if those things are not a bother to you!

I paid for a River View, Well, I got one, but I had to look over all the trash, plastic bins, spools and over growth. I cant say I am satisfied with my stay 100%. The staff was nice and informative. The room was nice, However the AC was slacking. The room stayed damp and not enough cold air blowing from the unit. IT NEEDS ATTENTION. Was difficult to sleep due to high heat and dampness. I would have left, but there was literally NO WHERE ELSE to go! Hotels were booked up!

The room was great! Large room, large bathroom. Decor was nice and updated. Clean. The full sized fridge was THE BEST! We loved the pool and the little beach area was nice. Will stay her the next time I’m in Southport. I would recommend you do as well.

The property itself and the service was wonderful. Our room was advertised as river view, and we could see the river lol but there were large amounts of debri and trash dumped right outside our balcony, so that was unexpected and an eyesore. Besides that, it was great!

Although I didn’t take advantage of them all, I liked the private pool, beach, and pier beside the river. It allowed a different kind of peace than that on an oceanfront. Also, the staff called me at home and sent me the sunglasses I left in the room.

This is our second time staying here and we love it. Ladies at front check in our so friendly and accommodating. Condos are so clean and have all the needed conveniences with the very nice kitchens. Beds and pillows are the best...like sleeping on a cloud :)

When we arrived both garbage cans in the room were overflowing. The receptionist was rude. The advertised “private beach” seemed more like undeveloped marshland to me. Housekeeping staff seemed friendly just not the receptionist. She had an attitude when we called and asked for directions due to a road closure. She was insistent that other guests were able to get to the hotel despite the road closure which we didn’t dispute we merely asked for directions.

We had a wonderful time during our stay! The staff was pleasant, the views were lovely, and we really enjoyed being just a short half-mile walk from great restaurants, shopping, and a beautiful park area. The only downside was a musty smell in our room that seemed to be coming from the AC. Aside from that, everything else was great, and we appreciated the overall experience.

This property was exactly what it said it was. We enjoyed our stay. Unfortunately the food truck and live music got rained out but that was OK. Our room was clean, the staff could not have been nicer and the location was perfect for us. Loved watching all the boats going by and having everything so close by.

A wonderful hotel in a beautiful setting on the River. Heather was wonderful with many recommendations for dinner and so much information. The room was very beautiful and comfortable. We LOVED the elevator as my husband had just had surgery! We enjoyed sitting on the "river beach." My one and only complaint is the gnats that come out in the evening on the beach and no one can fix that! lol! We just loved our stay and will be back!

It is a private area where you can relax and enjoy your stay. The pool and private beach area are well maintained. There was also a 2 piece band that played one night and a food truck! We had a great time!

Good location, very nice room. Very comfortable bed and super clean bathroom. Extremely friendly staff. Just be aware it is small hotel. It does not offer 24hr services (up to 9 pm) nor any facilities (restaurant, business center, …) Still, it’s a very nice hotel.

Nice place for a fun weekend in Southport! Nice rooms, updated and clean. Nearby cute little beach with tons of shells for kids to shell hunt. Nice pool area and patio for eating/sitting by the water. Friendly staff. Walkable (a little far but less than a mile) to most places in Southport town. Close to ferry up to Fort Fischer or Bald Head Island.

The location and accommodations were excellent! This is our second stay and would most likely stay again. I know that musical preferences vary, but I do not like the live music on Thursday. Though some nights we may not return to our room before 8:30, there are times when quiet is appreciated after 7. We were in room 109 and could still hear the music. Perhaps 5-7:30 would be a better time for live music.

The property is great. Clean and friendly staff. Although unused, the pool area and the room’s kitchen appeared to be clean and well stocked. The little town had maybe 10 shops, a few restaurants, and an ice cream shop. We toured the old town cemetery and since the little old jail was closed we looked through the windows. We swung on the swings along water. The recommended restaurant on the water Oliver’s we determined you have got to love Cajun seasoning. Summary the hotel was very nice and good price. The little town it sits in can be done in an afternoon. We even swung on the swings.
