We had a wonderful stay! The staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing, so much food to fuel you for the day. Room was nice and quiet. Bottled water is available, you just have to ask, as well as corkscrews and wine glasses if you fancy buying wine in town and enjoying in your room at the end of a long day touring. Location was fantastic. Cannot say enough nice things about the staff there - they were amazing!

Staff were wonderful! Very pleasant and helpful, giving useful advice on the area. The waterfront rooms are perfect, adjacent to busy cafes, tour boats, and with a beautiful view of the Port warehouses and shops. Breakfast was outstanding, with great breads and tropical fruit. Great view by day and by night. This is in a pedestrian only zone, but the recommended parking was a reasonable distance and not overpriced. Restaurants away from the waterfront are cheaper and much better food.

Great breakfast and wonderful staff. The hotel is in a good location but is not accessible by car so if you arrive by taxi you do have to walk a short distance of about 200 metres from the drop off point to the hotel. It was no problem for us but it could be a problem for people with mobility issues.

Lovely stay during the Sao Joa festival, we watched the fireworks from the bedroom! The breakfast was delightful & staff helped me with storing my bike box and also with organising taxis as a lot of taxis do not go straight to this area. Im sorry I couldnt remember the name of the person who helped us but I want to thank you!

Love the location! Parking advertised as nearby. Not very convenient. Would like a bit more information about it before booking. There is public parking but not nearby. Otherwise the included breakfast was amazing, the service was wonderful. The room and bed small but very comfortable! Great views.

The staff at Guest House Douro is amazing! Friendly and helpful, they went out of their way to help us enjoy our stay. We had a room overlooking the river which was very clean and comfortable but very small. Guests traveling with large luggage may want to ask about larger room options. Also, the hotel is off a pedestrian street which is not accessible to Uber drivers. Take a taxi if you don’t want to pull bags for a couple of blocks. Great stay! We wish we could have spent longer!

Desk clerk couldn’t have been more helpful. Showed us an excellent wine bar just around the corner and arranged early morning transport to airport. Room was tiny but immaculate and worked well. Highly recommended.

So the service from the staff is too notch and you can’t beat the location. Breakfast was amazing and help getting around as well. But the room we stayed in was super small, had scuffs on the walls and shower that would not drain properly. The room was super tight for two people.

I can’t recommend Guest House Douro highly enough! It was perfect! The owners and staff were amazingly nice. It was spotlessly clean, calming, and relaxing. Breakfast was a work of art, and wonderful.

The room was clean. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I cannot say enough about Ada, Luis and Luisa! The breakfast was unbelievable! It was by far the best breakfast during our entire visit throughout Portugal. And the location was perfect - walkable, view from our room and proximity to many restaurants.

Really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Guest House Douro! Amazing location, our room looked out on the river and Gaia but was still very quiet thanks to double paned windows. Staff were so friendly and helpful, made dinner reservations for us. Breakfast included a mountain of delicious tropical fruit, such a treat! Also yogurt, cheese, eggs, toast, granola and fantastic coffee. Just be aware that rooms are quite small—but cleverly designed to make the most of every inch. Highly recommend!

The hotel is located in the core of the excitement. The view over the Duero is breathtaking, you can walk and find very good food restaurants. The service is amazing, the breakfast is outstanding. The room is basic but very clean, it is too small but quiet. I will recommend it, I’m giving four stars because the entrance to the hotel is in a crowded pedestrian street where the antique area is.

Luisa and Luis were outstanding hosts throughout our five day visit. They went above and beyond what could be expected to anticipate all of our needs, including booking plane and train transportation when ours was unexpectedly cancelled. We have never received such fine service, from any lodging, no matter how many stars they’ve earned. Breakfast was wonderful and our bed was the best of our two month trip. This stay was the highlight of our trip.

We have stayed at Boutique Hotels in the past, but the Guest House Douro is in a league of its own. Amazing staff that went the extra mile for all our needs, an incredible breakfast and location in the heart of all the attractions and dining options. We had a great stay at Guest House Douro! It was in a great location, and the breakfast was fabulous. We ran into a few small issues, but Luis went above and beyond to rectify them right away. This little gem was a wonderful surprise! We absolutely loved the staff at this hotel! Luis and Philipe were amazing! Before our check-in, I contacted the hotel via email, and I received a complete, helpful response from Philipe. When we arrived at the hotel, our room was not quite ready. Luis made us coffee (with frothy milk--not plain coffee), and we sat and chatted with him in the lobby. He made several restaurant recommendations for us while we waited. We tried two of these during our stay, and they did not disappoint. The room was a typical European room, small, but it was clean and the bed was very comfy. The real star was the view from the room--we were lucky enough to have Luis upgrade us to a riverfront room for our stay, and the view was spectacular. Each morning we were served an amazing breakfast of fresh fruit, coffee, pastry, bread and cheeses/meats. One morning we asked Luis if he could arrange a blanket and corkscrew for a picnic later in the day, and when we returned to the hotel before heading to the picnic, Philipe had everything ready for us. These two were a great team. The hotel location is right along the river where there are plenty of restaurants and bars. I would stay here again in a heartbeat thanks to Luis and Philipe. In fact, we have shared our breakfast photos (so beautifully presented) with friends and provided them with the name of the hotel. Our stay was absolutely perfect.

We tried two of these during our stay, and they did not disappoint. The room was a typical European room, small, but it was clean and the bed was very comfy. The real star was the view from the room--we were lucky enough to have Luis upgrade us to a riverfront room for our stay, and the view was spectacular. Each morning we were served an amazing breakfast of fresh fruit, coffee, pastry, bread and cheeses/meats. One morning we asked Luis if he could arrange a blanket and corkscrew for a picnic later in the day, and when we returned to the hotel before heading to the picnic, Philipe had everything ready for us. These two were a great team. The hotel location is right along the river where there are plenty of restaurants and bars. I would stay here again in a heartbeat thanks to Luis and Philipe. In fact, we have shared our breakfast photos (so beautifully presented) with friends and provided them with the name of the hotel. Our stay was absolutely perfect.

We don’t normally leave reviews but Guest House Douro warrants a few words of praise. The whole team, including Louisa and Luis in particular, made our stay so enjoyable. When we needed help nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are spotless, breakfast service excellent, and the location is perfect to enjoy all that Porto has to offer. Thank you Guest House Douro, you are one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had. We hope to be back again soon.

Great breakfast and wonderful staff. The hotel is in a good location but is not accessible by car so if you arrive by taxi you do have to walk a short distance of about 200 metres from the drop off point to the hotel. It was no problem for us but it could be a problem for people with mobility issues.

This was a wonderful stay. Tight rooms as normal for the area but well appointed and nice bathroom. Location was extraordinary, right in the heart of Porto and next to the water. Excellent breakfast and staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. Would recommend highly.

Love the location! Parking advertised as nearby. Not very convenient. Would like a bit more information about it before booking. There is public parking but not nearby. Otherwise the included breakfast was amazing, the service was wonderful. The room and bed small but very comfortable! Great views.

ÖPNV ist ebenfalls sehr gut zu erreichen. Personal: Überaus freundlich, hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend! Zimmer: Wir hatten das Zimmer 401. Dieses war recht klein und etwas eng, sowie etwas „altbacken“. Für einen Kurzaufenthalt aber vollkommen ausreichend! Es gibt eigentlich alles, was man benötigt. Ein weiterer großer Spiegel sowie ein Mini-Kühlschrank wären allerdings super. Die Betten waren sehr gemütlich. Frühstück: Man meldet sich den Vortag für eine Uhrzeit zum Frühstück an. Achtung; schnell sein lohnt sich, teils sind Uhrzeiten „vergriffen“ (im Frühstücksraum gibt es drei Tische à zwei Plätze). Das Frühstück wird für jeden Platz täglich frisch zubereitet und zusammengestellt. Es gibt frisches Obst, Brötchen und etwas Aufschnitt, Kaffee/Tee, Saft, Joghurt, Gebäck. Sehr lecker! 20 steps from the walk around the River Douro to board boats, eat on the water, get to metro and walk to many of the sites. It is at the bottom of the hill next to the water. Our room overlooked the water with beautiful view. Breakfast was excellent with Fruits, Juices and pastries (Fancy Continental style). The staff was enjoyable to talk to and very kind and knowledgeable. Definitely a great place to overlook Porto and walk to most of the sites.

Our room had an amazing view over the river. Breakfast was great and all the staff were friendly and helpful. It was like staying with good friends. The guest house is located right in the center of the old town, and we walked to all the restaurants, port tastings and other central attractions.

The property is so conveniently located and right in front of the river. I recommend you get a river view room. The staff is super attentive. I didn't get all their names but kudos to Luis. The breakfast is superb. The young lady serving breakfast was outstanding.
