Hotel Magdalena

Interiors could use some touch up. Toilet, sink faucet fixtures were loose, duvet had yellow stains, cleaners took toiletry items and returned the next day? Strange. Mornings are loud with blowers and power washing. Just a couple things but enjoyed the location and design of hotel minus the elevator. Very slow and couldn’t walk down stairs to leave hotel.

Beautiful hotel, great location, friendly staff, comfortable beds, vibey pool and great food at the restaurant. Would definitely stay again! 10/10 would recommend. Fun hotel to stay at with friends!

This could be a great hotel if they get their act together a little more. The property is lovely and conveniently located. For the price I would have expected better customer service. The restaurant listed several gluten-free menu items that turned out not to be gluten-free. The in-room hotel info mentioned complimentary coffee in the lobby, but this is not the case—other than the in-room coffee pods you have to buy coffee at the restaurant. Most of the time I was there the elevator wasn’t working and the only way to get to and from my room was the long way around the pool—very scenic but less convenient with luggage. It’s a real design flaw for a multi-story building to have only one elevator. I think there may have been another staff-only elevator somewhere, but nothing accessible to guests. This hotel is in a category where I would expect better.

Wonderful modern hotel tucked away in a quiet street behind South Congress. The rooms were very nice - bed was super comfortable, had a balcony. The pool was unique in that it’s salt water and lightly chlorinated. Nice touch. We enjoyed the pool everyday given how hot the weather in Austin was during our stay. We also took advantage of the yoga mats available through the front desk. The only feedback we have is there aren’t enough power outlets in the room. It was odd that a modern hotel didn’t have more places to plug in our phones and iPads. Also the sink has no towel rack. Other than these two details, we loved our stay.

Pool was closed for maintenance. That happens, but I specifically picked the hotel for the pool. Carpet in room had significant water damage by bathroom. The property is pretty new & this should be fixed. It is ncongruous with the vibe of the space

The hotel is terrific and in a PRIME location. Oddly no elevators were working for guests, which seemed unusual for a hotel of this caliber.

Upon check-in, one bed didn’t have any pillows. No on brought luggage to my room even though bellman unloaded my car for us. On day of checkout, I requested my car via QR code given. I went downstairs twenty minutes later to be told the app isn’t working…took 35 minutes for valet to bring my car. Also, I was told the bellman was super busy when I called to inquire where he was to collect our luggage, but when I went to valet I saw a luggage cart in the corner so decided to go scoop my own luggage again.

Great grounds and location on South Congress. We had a "studio" room. It was compact but comfortable. Bathroom was very small. Valet parking was unsatisfactory. Only one valet on duty at a time. We encountered a problem with one valet having to deal with 7 vehicles at the same time. Also Austin is a late night town. We arrived back at our room on Friday night at midnight only to find that valet service had shut down for the night. The desk clerk instructed us to lock the car, leave it in the street with the flasheers on and bring the key to him and someone would eventually take care of it. I want to stress the individual valets were very helpful. This is a management and staffing issue. I would not return again if I had a car with me.

We will definitely be back, the room was extremely clean, bed sheets had no smell compared to other hotels. We fell in love with this place. I will say the parking is very tricky, you will have three options, pay valet parking with hotel magdanela for $55, garage parking $70+ per day or street parking but you have to be lucky.

We found a small piece of glass in one of the beds. On Saturday afternoon we got back to the room around 4:00 pm, and the room wasn’t cleaned yet. The cleaning lady told me I have to ask the front desk for cleaning service, otherwise they don’t clean the room. The guy at the front desk told me it wasn’t necessary to ask for cleaning, that it will be done after they finished cleaning the rooms that were reserved directly at the hotel page, because the app reservations go at the end. Also it cost me around 30% more with Expedia than directly with the hotel. For more than $500 a night is an overvalued hotel.

I used to love this hotel; however, this experience wasn’t as great as previous ones. The staff was friendly but not very effective at solving issues. Breakfast was disappointing—Two Hands and Soho House are nearby, and we recommend going there instead. The guy at the pool was exceptional: attentive, efficient, and high-quality service. Housekeeping was also great—everything was very clean. However, the minibar was incomplete, and I was left waiting for hours for items I had to request at the front desk, which never arrived. My Hotels.com benefits weren’t honored, and overall, it was clear they were short-staffed.

Very cute and well designed property, however after switching rooms due to broken lights, the new room having flickering lights, broken wifi/data services, terrible pillows, no hand towels(only 2 bath towels in the whole room), and blowers starting outside at 7:40am, it was not the restful and relaxing hotel experience we had hoped for... Neighbor hood is great, valet attendants very nice, and pretty design.

The hotel property was very nice. But we were very underwhelmed by our room. The room wasn’t thoroughly cleaned before we got there. There was still trash in the trash pail when we got there. There were old trays of food outside our room from the previous guests’ room service. The shower had very poor water pressure and was hard to control the temperature. Some days it came out really hot and others it never warmed up. We will not be staying here again.

We had a nice 3 night stay. Hotel is super attractive in trendy, Instagram-y way, The location is really excellent Parking was expensive so we opted to find an on street spot and mostly ventured out on foot. We also had some nice evenings in the bar which had great service. The room was clean, we loved the shower and the bed. Aesthetics rule over practicality; for example no reading lights around the bed and washcloths would have been nice! Overall, would probably go back as it fits an Austin adventure nicely.

The hotel was very lack luster. Our room was never cleaned despite staying for 3 nights and removing the do not disturb magnet. Layout and lighting of our room was not the most comfortable. With limited clothing storage options a drawer or small dresser would make more sense than one single long drawer shelf under the bathroom sink

I just stayed here three nights solo on business. It's really good-looking, fun spot with super friendly staff. Unfortunately, it's not as comfy as it is cute. The room was tiny, dark. and filled with too much stuff. Very tasteful choices, just no room to move around. Two of the four light sources in the room weren't working. (They said they could have maintenance investigate but I just wanted to relax at that point.) There was a single-serve coffee maker in the room but only decaf pods. I asked the desk for more and they sent up... more decaf. There's also no staircase on one side of the building, so you need to take the (one) elevator even if you're on the first floor, which makes coming and going kind of tedious. None of these things were awful but it's a pricy stay for those sorts of details not to be worked out.

My hotel room window faced a back alley area where trash is stored and on Monday mornings at 6:30 am - you can hear the garbage trucks right out your window dumping the trash out. I mentioned this to the hotel and they called them "delivery trucks" which was off-putting. I saw the garbage trucks.

Great location, very nicely designed hotel with almost all the amenities you could want. The accessible room was lacking a bit in storage and hooks, but the room was fine.

Great property and vibe but probably won’t stay there again/ did NOT like the room. Very small room, tiny bathroom- felt like a small studio- we prefer more space and privacy. A balcony would also be nice.

My only real complaint would be that the pillows had no support at all which made it very difficult to sleep and get comfortable. There were a lack of outlets for phone chargers near the bed and the TV was hidden behind the curtains so we thought there was no TV until we found it in the morning. We both had a very hard time sleeping due to the bed being uncomfortable so we sadly ended up leaving our stay around 3am to go home so we could get better sleep. Otherwise the Hotel is beautiful and very accessible and very cool treehouse vibe. Staff was very friendly.

The location and the property itself are both great. Lovely landscaping, pretty pool, nice restaurant, and helpful staff. Our room was cute, but the bathroom situation wasn't the best. The shower/toilet space is separate from the sink, which is in the room itself. Privacy is a little lacking. Probably not the case for all rooms, so I'd ask when booking. Also, I'd suggest a room on the side of the property with the pool. The side with the event space got pretty loud at night when there was a live band playing until midnight. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but would book a different room next time.

On a noisy street with trucks, no air conditioning, bathroom glass doors next to pillow on bed, sink in the middle of the room, tv partially covered by curtains, lamps only on headboard so no use if someone is sleeping. Highly don't recommend this hotel.

What a beautiful hotel! The room could use more powerful AC, but we live in Austin so heat is a norm, but the stay was still nice.

Great property/location! 5 starts across the board. Only comment is that staffing was not the most responsive when I reached out on a question- it took multiple e-mails before I finally heard back.

Beautiful courtyard to relax in, a little oasis in the city. The beds and rooms were very comfortable and stylish! Everyone who worked there was friendly. Look forward to staying again.

We had an exceptional experience at Hotel Magdalena. The staff was attentive and welcoming, and the amenities exceeded our expectations. Our room was thoughtfully designed, combining comfort with aesthetic appeal. The on-site restaurant was also excellent, offering high-quality dining in a relaxed setting. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and look forward to returning in the future.

Definitely far from a 4 star hotel at this point the grounds, staff & rooms have seemed to be unmanaged if you can find staff they seem unmotivated the best part was when we asked for bathroom towels since we weren’t getting room service the person said sorry were out of towels and handed us 2 wash cloths ????? At the pool there was NO one picking up old towels the entire 3 days we never seen anyone dirty towels old drink cups then upon picking up our car there’s a dent on the door I can go on and on

Stayed for the F1 race. Was a great location for taking Ubers to the track. Great vibe. The area has great coffee, food and shopping. Would definitely stay again.

What a wonderful, quirky hotel. It’s my first time at Hotel, and I will be back. It’s perfectly located at South Congress to go and explore the very cool area, full of great shops, restaurants, music venues, and bars.

Cleanliness and in room service was excellent. Very nice cool hotel (decoration and ambiance) We felt that all was quite good with the exception of the restaurant, even though food was good, waiters are poorly trained and/or lack experience. Still they were polite and friendly.

The hotel was fabulous, very Austin cool. The staff was amazing. The tv in one of the rooms of our suite had a software issue. It was late at night so the staff gave my husband a key to the room next door so my husband could watch TV without waking me. The pool was awesome and food delicious!!! We will return!!!!!

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Magdalena. It's in a good, walkable area with plenty to do nearby, if a little generic and touristy. The staff were always pleasant and helpful when I had a question and the room was comfortable and well appointed, I especially loved the Sferra bed linens and the Fruta de Sangre bath products. The restaurant menu was a little limited but the food was delicious and the service was, again, great. The only negative thing that prevents me from giving the place an all out positive recommendation was the surprising amount of noise I encountered during my stay. I was on the 2nd floor in a room that located just over the restaurant area and the music they played was incredibly loud in that area. It wasn't too much of an issue when I was gone during the day, but it would start at 7AM and go well into the evening which made sleeping difficult. Also, on both mornings of our stay there were landscapers running leafer blowers at 8 AM and maintenance workers working on various parts of the property. I understand stuff happens sometimes but I do think a hotel claiming 4 stars should be more thoughtful of guest comfort, especially when it comes to hours when people normally sleep. I would recommend to anyone thinking about staying here to possibly see if they can get a room away from the restaurant to at least mitigate any issues with the music in the courtyard.

I loved the decor and treehouse vibe. Room service from the restaurant downstairs was fast and delicious. Love the noon checkout and coffee maker. Super friendly and helpful staff. Bed and sofa were very firm. No steamer.
