The Penn Stroud, Stroudsburg - Poconos, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Clean, comfortable room. Front desk staff was friendly and efficient. This is a very nice hotel with ample parking.

The Penn Stroud is a nicely appointed hotel. The beds are very comfortable. It is a downtown property with adequate parking. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping in walking distance.

Greatly improved with renovations. Awaiting pool completion.

Great location, close to lots of bars and restaurants. Plenty of parking.

Would have been nice if the pool and hot tub were operational.

On way home to Ohio from New Years in NYC. Wonderful non chain hotel. Updated and clean. Very quiet. You enter through the parking deck off 7th. No front door!

We really like the location of the hotel. Parking in the rear of hotel was great. Many restaurants and pubs within walking distance. Very clean rooms. Breakfast was continental.

Close to main street and other area attractions. Lots of pillows, bedding was comfortable, gym was spacious, breakfast area was nice.

Nice little hotel. Bathroom is new and modern, good amenities, nice little gym on premises, quiet, free breakfast— what more do you need really?

This is one of the cleanest hotels we have ever stayed in.

Most of our stay was great. The only negatives were that the smoke alarm was dangling from the ceiling (it was attached by wires) and there were a couple spots of unpainted spackle. Otherwise the property was clean and very nice.

Waited 2 hours to check in (after check in time). room was not clean. Stayed for a week. Maid came once to clean, never came back.

It’s obviously a newly renovated old building but the work wasn’t very neat. There was construction dust in the hallway and I was initially put in a room with a hole in the bathroom ceiling with spackle all over the place including the floor and doors.

When I got in the room, there was dried urine on the toilet seat. Also curly hair in my bedsheets near the foot of the bed. I went through the room with my own Lysol wipes before I could relax.

Staff was amazing ! Andrew and Heavenly were so pleasant and accommodating! Left my son a cupcake with a card for him for his birthday in the room which was so nice . Beds were comfortable .Town was great ! Only issue was housekeeping when cleaning rooms on floor would leave all dirty sheets and towels in hallway next to each room which was disgusting to walk past down hallway and see and smell . I actually gagged . Every room had their sheets and dirty towels outside their doors at once . Also when they cleaned my room they just made bed quick didn’t put clean sheets on . Otherwise hotel really was great right in heart of town .

This hotel is so clean, rooms,hallways, elevators, everything! I stayed 1 night, front desk staff friendly & the neighborhood is great.

I think this might be a 4 star property however our room was so cold due to construction below our floor that we’re had to ask for another room. And then in the morning there was no hot water due to some pipes freezing. Not the best stay. All the water from the burst pipes was running onto the sidewalk and immediately freezing so it was dangerous on the street side Will try again because the staff was so friendly and helpful and the location is great. .

Everything was good during my stay. I especially like how convenient it was to downtown. The only things I didn't like was my room was on the main street and was noisy at night.

Heater had a mind of its own. Great location and the staff was great!

The lightning in the room was very harsh for people with light sensitivity. The hotel is a bit gray and dark.

A great location on the heart of tien with lots of local pubs to walk to. Very clean and comfy beds. The accessible room is as very spacious with a sitting room.

It was nice staying at this hotel. The room was clean. There were no drawers to keep shoes. I got a two-bed room, but it too small for two people.. like where to put your stuff and the like. No iron, but I guess if I asked they’d have given it to me. The bathroom has no fan so warm water fogs everything, and God forbid if you do number two everything comes back to the room. The continental breakfast was not my favorite as it was all processed foods. The only thing I could take was the green apples. Coffee was too light for me. If you like Dunkin coffee you would be ok. Anyhow.. I didn’t benefit from the continental breakfast. The wonderful part is the staff. They are simply a delight.

The room was enormous with really good lighting. The location made walking around Stroudsburg easy.

The room was nice and clean. Bright white clean bedding. The bed was quite comfortable. The pillows were too soft for my liking but that's the same at most hotels. The staff were pleasant and professional.

The ac was in an alcove, which made it a bit less effective for the bed area and bath. Breakfast was very basic at best. Perhaps more selection of fruit, maybe a waffle maker.

We had a wonderful stay. They had our name up on the wall wishing us a Happy Anniversary. Our room was beautiful & had a card and cupcakes for us in celebration of our anniversary and it was very very cozy and we had a great view. We will definitely be back!

Although the hotel itself is nice and clean everything else was quite disorganized. We arrived early on Saturday 8/26 for our stay and were told at 1:45 that check in was 3pm and we needed to return. When we arrived at 4:45 or so we were told due to the fact they were short handed our room would not be ready for 15 minutes and if we could wait. The girl at the from although very polite and nice continued to help others as we sat an waited. 30 minutes went by and now it was 5:20 and she hadn't mentioned anything so I asked her and she was like oh the room is ready. We finally checked in and were heading to an event where we needed to be at 7. When we got to the room I attempted to take a shower and the shower head was squirting everywhere thankfully my boyfriend is a plumber and was able to fix the issue so we can get ready. Finally as we were getting ready we noticed the AC was not working and at this point we were going to be late for our event so we hoped for the best. I told the woman at the front desk my issues the next morning and she spoke to the manager Mr. Patel and we were able to get $100 back which was nice. But for making us wait for the room and the shower head not working and the AC not working and no windows to open I think the full amount should have been refunded. There were several others at the hotel that dealt with the delay at check in and were sitting frustrated in the lobby. Hopefully they can get more staff to service their hotel.

The staff called several times to confirm my arrival and was kind and courteous. I had to check out a day early and they were very accommodating. Would recommend.

Spent the day skiing and looking forward to a nice warm shower and place to stay at the end of the night with my significant other. Had my room booked well in advance. Upon arrival to my already disappointment the parking lot was atrocious. It is like a makeshift lot that used to be someone’s yard but that was the least of my worries for the night. I checked in like normal and was given our room keys. We hauled all of our luggage on a bellhop cart to our room. The keys didn’t work. Went back down to get the keys set up. They did not work again. Another trip back downstairs and the worker came up with us and confirmed the keys weren’t working. After waiting 10 minutes in front of a room we thought was ours it turns out someone was already in there. My girlfriend had to see a stranger in the doorway in nothing but his boxers. We now haul all of our stuff back downstairs yet again. The woman working there then spent the next hour trying to figure out what was going on. For one full hour we sat in the lobby in our soaking wet clothes with no solutions. We find out they put someone else in the wrong room. They could not figure out which room was available still. EVERYTHING WAS WRITTEN ON PAPER. This should be as simple as checking a computer to see what room is not taken. The food we bought was ice cold at this point and we were left shivering in the lobby until midnight. ZERO COMPENSATION was given for the inconvenience. If the hotel wasn’t clean I’d give this 0 stars

I’m very happy with my stay. This is a low frills, older property that they have breathed life into. They do everything possible to make it comfortable and enjoyable. Service is fantastic. They had something special for our anniversary. I look forward to staying here again. It’s in walking distance from all the coolest stuff. I also highly recommend Farmhouse Main Steet, a farm to table restaurant around the corner that we visited twice in our 24 trip!

We made a last minute reservation and had a pleasant stay at the Penn Stroud. Its a kid friendly hotel and great casual place to stay if visiting Stroudsburg area. We were celebrating a family birthday over the weekend. The management went out of its way to send a personalized birthday card and gourmet cupcakes to the room on learning about the occasion. Thank you so much and we will re-visit on our next trip to the area.

Our state started off great from the second. We walked in and were greeted by staff. The check-in process literally took seconds and we were in our room in no time. The room was clean and spacious. The staff was courteous and friendly I made you feel welcome. I highly recommend the Penn Stroud to anyone who’s planning to stay in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.

We had never been in this area, but I must say staying at the penn Stroud was great! It was clean, friendly , updated, the breakfast was great, and the staff extremely helpful! Vanessa in the breakfast area was super sweet and kind. She always made sure my needs were met. Kept the breakfast area, super clean and neat. It’s a place you feel very safe in every aspect I left my coat at the hotel and they were so kind to call me, and let me know the options for me getting my coat back I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone and would really like to thank Penn Strous for the wonderful three days spent at their hotel! PS. the beds were very comfortable which is very important for us!

First night was awful. Room next door was loud until after 2am. Made complaint to front desk, the came up once but that was it. I got three hrs of sleep and had to be up early to attend training for work. I had to move to another room the following night to avoid the same issue due to individual in that other room also stating another night.

The property and staff were nice. The location seemed like a good idea - on the Main Street, great for walking after dinner. Unfortunately, the Main Street wasn’t very pleasant after dark. Just a few bars open, with drunken patrons hanging out on the sidewalk. Late into the night, locals revving their engines as they race up and down the main drag outside the hotel. That was a Wednesday night. Overall, the hotel was nice. Too bad about the location.

very nice hotel, however we opted for the city view room which was not the best choice. The hotel is on a very busy and often loud street. The interior rooms would have been a perfect choice.

Great location right on Main Street in Stroudsburg. Many restaurants and bars within walking distance. Hotel is recently remodeled, clean rooms,beds are comfortable and staff is very friendly. Between 15 to 30 minutes drive to camelback ski area and blue mountain.

Our stay was better than expected. We were just looking for a place close to The Sherman Theater to sleep. We were greeted by a very friendly employee when checking in. Got to our room it, was spotless and had everything we needed. Including shampoo! Our bedding and beds were extremely comfy. The free breakfast and dining area were excellent as well. We would definitely recommend this hotel. They also have free parking and wifi. Great comfortable and extremely clean stay with a perfect location.

Nice little hotel! Beds were very comfortable and room was clean. Breakfast was underwhelming but it was free! In walking distance to many restaurants/bars/shops. Close to mountains.

All of the positive reviews baffle me. My room smelled like cigarettes. My city view was of "Smoke Land", the breakfast had only bread based items and zero hot food. The location was in the heart of the downtown but was so loud outside all night long for a Monday night (loud voices and cars with loud mufflers), the overall feel of the hotel was dingy. I know the hotel is old and historic but I had the ick the entire time. I will probably stick to chain hotels in the future. Front desk staff was very nice though

Breakfast could have had more protein. Perhaps either boiled or scrambled eggs or Greek yogurt with a higher amount of protein. Some kind of fruit would be great. We arrived at the hotel a bit late in the evening, so we appreciated the mid afternoon phone call to check to see if, given the snowy weather, we were still going to be there.

Weekend stay , nice hotel with nice location lot of restaurants and bar in walking distance. Bed are clean and very comfortable, breakfast was simple with no meat no eggs, only dry stuff , one issue with this hotel is the breakfast room is on second floor and faraway from elevator, you have to walked and may i suggest if you have someone with problem walking dont try to go for breakfast asked your family members to bring for you. This is the only issue with this hotel otherwise everything is 9 out of 10
