I like that the resort was not too far from things to do for my first time in Arizona. Especially, the commute from the airport. Very convenient location. The staff and service was amazing. Cleanliness superb, couple of dining options available & bottled water to stay hydrated always offered & readily available. This resort does offer massages but does not have a spa. The price is not worth it for a massage only. I went to The Phoenician Spa for a massage instead and had so much more available to me for the same price. Access to spa tubs, suanas, showers, relaxation beds, water & snacks, rooftop pool, etc. until closing. If Mountain Shadows added a spa onto their resort, definitely would be a 5 for me on amenities.

The entire hotel is beautiful and the views are wonderful. There are a lot of amenities included in your resort fee including multiple pools, a gym and free daily classes. We don’t golf but the course looked well kept.

Amazing property; my only chief complaint is regarding pool service hours. Supposedly until 5pm however, last call close out was done at 3:45pm. As well with pool access closing at 10pm. A LOT of people staying on the premises indicated the same concern. I would recommend this place as it’s extremely, clean, amenities, and accessibility to fine dining. A suggestion would be for a day club DJ 😊

This resort was absolutely fabulous! The property is gorgeous, the food was divine, the water aerobics and early morning walk gratis and great, the pools were perfect. I will definitely be making Mountain Shadows my go-to place from now on.

We loved the hotel and had a great stay but the fitness center’s air conditioning was broken (in the heat of the summer!!) for our entire 3 night stay. When I explained it was a main reason why we came to the resort, we were brushed off.

We ended up having a great stay. If you are there on the weekend and DONT want to stay up until 11 make sure they don’t give you a room near the restaurant area. The first night was a rough one, our kids are little and we couldn’t sleep until they stopped playing at 11pm. The next day we asked to move rooms and they happily accommodated and gave us a little upgrade as well. Enjoyed the pool the rest of our stay and room was clean and comfortable. Wish there was some kind of coffee shop in the lobby for quick to-go options though as I was usually off in a rush in the morning. But it’s a nice quiet spot in paradise valley overall. Also enjoyed the EV chargers. Would stay again.

I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel - beautiful surroundings, very clean pools and delicious restaurants. Also, the old-fashion drink at the bar is AMAZING! Couple minor notes for management: 1) I found 2 used plastic drink cups in one of the drawers in my room. They were not messy but please make sure your house-keeping checks all the drawers. 2) Other hotels around the area offer complimentary van ride service within 2 miles. I found this service to be very useful in the past. Finally, your hotel staff are wonderful - friendly and helpful. Thank them for me.

We had a wonderful stay, the room was really nice with the balcony and super large shower The dinner on property was absolutely delicious as was brunch the following morning. Our only complaint was the pool was green, truly unpleasant to look at and extremely disappointing considering it was 105 degrees and all we wanted to do was be in the water. We would expect a property as nice as this one would have maintenance on this immediately but it was green again the following morning. It did not ruin our stay, but did share with the pool attendants who stated it was the storm the night before which didn’t make sense as we are locals and our pools are blue/same storm then we shared at checkout and were told the decking causes a green glare? There’s clearly an issue that needs to be resolved.

The rooms were very comfortable, clean, and modern, with beautiful views. I slept really well! The food at the restaurant was delicious, and everything we tried was fresh and well-made. The staff were super friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. The DJ by the pool wasn't great-the music felt loud and out of place, and it didn't really match the relaxing vibe of the resort. On the other hand, the live saxophone player was a really nice touch. It would've been great to hear more music that blended better with the saxophone, like drum tracks, world music or softer, rhythmic tracks. The other downside was the pool-it wasn't as clean as it should be. The resort has a narrow pool area as it is, so cleaner water and area surrounding the pool would definitely help. It didn't ruin the trip, but I expected a bit more.

Mountain shadows, the ultimate resort. I booked the studio suite, which was a 1000 sq. Foot. Lots of room, really upscale all around right down to the motorized blinds. The views , straight out of a magazine.

Wonderful hotel with unbeatable views. The rooms are well designed and spacious and have everything you could think of! The bed is super comfortable and the gym, pool, and fitness classes are great. I really enjoyed my time here. Kevin at the pool was great. Abby who taught reformer class (included!) was great. The housekeepers and room service were also lovely. Good drinks and food at the resort. I had one experience where staff was rude when I ordered breakfast on my first day there but otherwise it was great and I’d recommend!

Everything was wonderful, except location of the room. It was just above apart of the AC system that made a constance hum. But I figure that's why the rate for the room was only $148. Next time I would upgrade.

We liked everything except the configuration of the room. There was only one chair on the balcony and one chair in the room which meant no seating for the other person. We repeatedly asked for another balcony chair but it never appeared. Also, the glass wall on the shower is interesting but should not face the window over the pool area - very awkward.

Super cute resort. Love the art gallery vibes and how they incorporated lots of history and pictures of the Original Mountain Shadow Resort into their decorative atmosphere. Rooms are spacious, clean, and very modern. The balcony and mountain view are a nice bonus. :)

Nice resort, nice facilities, but the service is very lacking. I was either ignored or staff seemed “put upon” with the few requests I made like ordering food and a drink at the pool. The worst part was that I forgot my insulin in the mini fridge that I paid to rent. It was absolutely my fault for forgetting it. However, when I called back a second time to inquire if it was located, I was yelled at by Sydney and blamed for forgetting it. I have traveled extensively across the world and this is one of the worst stays I’ve had. Not that they care, but I will not be back.

Everyone who works here is amazing. The valets, the servers, bartenders, the front desk people and the breakfast and lunch host Don! Just all great people! I loved the room, pool area and gym. The grounds are also beautiful and the views too!

Unable to give this hotel a five star rating because on the day of our arrival the front desk clerk gave us the wrong key to enter our room -twice!! This was after arriving at the hotel extremely tired from our flight at almost 1:00 am 😞

Enjoyed hotel though the price point didnt equal experience. Hearth 61 has a limited menu but the food selected was very good and service was terrific. Front desk personnel was hit and miss. Bartender was friendly, pool was seemed indifferent

Wonderful stay at Mountain Shadows Resort. The resort is beautiful, pools are great and nice dining options as well. Well located and easy to drive or Uber to nearby locations. Gym which also offers different classes everyday which are worth a look. Took a yoga class one morning and highly recommend taking part of a class or two if possible. If you are an Expedia VIP ensure you get your perks. We had a voucher for drinks and had to mention it at check in.

My family and I absolutely loved our stay! Marissa the manager was great! Melissa and Brooke were absolutely amazing waitresses. They went out of their way to help out our kiddos! The pool was so clean and the staff were so friendly!

We were so grateful the front desk allowed us to check in early so we could start enjoying the amenities. We headed straight for the pool where we stayed for the afternoon. We ordered food pool side, the club sandwich and French fries were delicious! We also had a few drinks before we headed in to get ready for dinner. We ended up eating dinner at Hearth 61, the onsite restaurant. The ambiance, food, and service were great, although it did take a bit to get our drinks. We also paid for late check out so we had time to get breakfast at the bar at Hearth 61 and go enjoy the pool for a few hours before we left. Overall, very satisfied with our stay and would highly recommend it to my friends and family

Customer service was amazing from arrival to check out. Pool staff kept checking in restaurant staff was super friendly and attentive. Rooms were so clean. I pull certainly stay here again. The only item I would mention is to possibly have staff advise at the time the bill comes for food and drinks that gratuity is already included as we double tipped twice but again service was amazing so we did not take it back.

I love this property. Beautiful grounds in a nice area. Awesome view of camelback and the surrounding hills. Not very walkable to any shops or stores so be sure you have a car or be prepared to Uber/Lyft. I kind of like that about the property however because its quiet.

Very clean resort and attentive/kind staff. Bed was much firmer than I prefer and the resort food was average. The food also seemed expensive. I’m sure it’s a little overpriced due to convenience. For example my husband and I spent $100 for breakfast which included 2 glass of OJ, 1 cocktail, and 2 entrees

This is a gorgeous property and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We stayed for 2 nights. We ate dinner one night at El Chorro (just a block up the street, highly recommend) and one night at Hearth 61 (also recommend). We had drinks at the bar a few times and ordered breakfast from there both mornings. We also had drinks at Rustys twice and enjoyed the view of the golf course with the mountain in the background - so peaceful. We spent the day at the pool which was lovely. We were there on a weekday in early May and it wasn't crowded at all. Service at the pool was a little slow, but I think that's because one of the 2 employees was brand new/in training. Our room was clean and comfortable and we appreciated the minbar with very fair prices on some items (chips - $1). We were on the 2nd floor and had a balcony with views of the mountain. The chairs on the balcony aren't super comfortable, but we just loved having an outdoor area to sit and relax at times. The hotel has been nicely redone and decorated beautifully in mid century modern decor. There are tons of nice places to sit and relax or hang out with others if you are traveling in a group. We had a a really nice time and if we are ever back in the area, we would absolutely stay here again.

We love Mountain Shadows and have mostly had great stays here. On this visit, my only gripes were that the menu was almost nonexistent for plant-based eaters, and the guy who answered the room service line sounded like he couldn't have cared less that we wanted to place an order, and that lackluster attitude was consistent across our stay. We have had to order from a food delivery service while here, which is fine given the number of options around the property, but we were a bit frustrated to find so much meat and cheese and very little we could order at the hotel. Oh, and we could not order a latte until 7 a.m., which is frustrating for anyone who gets up to start working as early as 6 a.m. Otherwise, even amid the summer heat, we have enjoyed the beautiful property, well-appointed room, and mostly friendly team here!

We had an amazing stay at this resort! As a Hotels.com member, they gave us a nice upgrade with a lovely room overlooking the fabulous pool! The restaurant was top notch and the view from the pool is fantastic. This resort has a wonderful location and a chic, luxurious vibe.
