Great little hotel right on the water. Manager Jim was fantastic, friendly, and attentive. Fairly close to good restaurants. Parking is very small and tight, if you have a mid size or larger vehicle, good luck parking here. You will have to park across the strret. Pool was clean. Water pressure is low. Overall, great place, would stay again.

Gorgeous ocean EXPERIENCE! All the rooms have a lovely sheltered lanai. Our room was on the 3rd floor and we never closed the door once. Loved the breeze and the ocean waves crashing on the sea wall below. Parking is TIGHT as stated. so do get a small rental car. Ali'i Drive is very busy so the car and motorcycle sounds were a (slight) downside. Fortunately the 24/7 ocean waves more than made up for it. We loved that it was a small property, not a big high-rise, and adults only. Our room was clean and comfortable and the whole property is well-maintained. Rooms have a kitchenette which is helpful as every visitor to Hawaii knows, meals are expensive. We fixed breakfast in our room every day (coffee maker, microwave and toaster; no stove) and a few lunches as well. Fridge was good size; no freezer though. Beachcombers should know that the closest beach is a brisk 5 minute walk away. Overall, would definitely recommend!

We very much enjoyed the view the view the view. 15 rooms and everyone has a great ocean view. Clean relatively quiet rooms even next to busy road. WIFI but no TV which was refreshing. Appeared to be recently remodeled..great mattress. Half dozen steps to the Lanai to the low seawall and a small ocean cove is right there at foot of a 12ft high lava rock embankment. Friendly staff and efficient housekeeping. Nothing fancy but pretting much everything we needed. Great value for the price. Only minus is there are 15 rooms but only 12 parking spaces. First come first serve otherwise you are parking on shoulder of a busy street.

The hotel is in a good location and was everything We wanted. Really clean and steps from parking lot. Staff was really helpful and nice. They have snorkeling, beach chairs, coolers and umbrellas that you can borrow. The bed was really comfortable and not having an A/C wasn't a problem. You sleep with patio door open and hear the waves. Does not have a TV and wished it did to watch in the evening while relaxing. We would stay there again if we went back to the Island.

This hotel is such a gem. We loved having coffee on the lanai each morning with the ocean crashing on the sea wall below. Just beautiful. It was quiet at night and we were able to walk into town for dinner/shopping. It’s a great base for the west side of the island—we stayed for a week and did so much but always enjoyed returning to the hotel for a dip in the wonderfully refreshing salt water pool or just to relax on the lanai. Highly recommend!

If you are on the fence about this hotel…..do it!! Staff is extremely kind and helpful. You can lay on the bed and watch the surfers riding the waves and watch so many crabs just hanging out. The sunsets are breathtaking from the pool. Open up the windows and listen to the waves all night long. Just wow!! Yes, there is no tv or ac…..but who cares when you can feel the ocean breeze all night long. Definitely recommend having a smaller vehicle as the parking lot is small but it is FREE.

Great surfer hotel (even if you’re not a surfer). Each room has a view of breaking waves and the hotel salt water pool looks out on the ocean. The hotel is simple yet nicely decorated and adequate free parking. We really enjoyed our stay.

Amazing views from all areas of this property, if your looking for an air conditioned stay (this not for you) no air con. Please mindful there is no lift provided for higher floor levels and the carpark area is very restrictive. A good walk to nice restaurants if you are fit, staff very polite.

The first few days were ok. The place was situated by the sounds of the ocean but very cramped and small. No room in restroom for any items on sink. When we retired for the day the room smelled. Bad but better when opened sliding door. Turned in towels to receive new ones but this never happened. We were left with no towels and no one to talk to. That night we had a gigantic roach in our shower area! My husband killed it! When we asked for some compensation we were left with silence! Definitely no Aloha at this place! So sad because this place had a great location!

I wasn't sure what to expect, but I shouldn't have been worried at all. Super cute boutique hotel with EXCELLENT amenities/landscaping. My room was decorated with vintage Tiki prints and linens. Everything was sparkling clean with attention to travelers needs - local insights, pool towels, beach equipment, ice for coolers and more. Harris gave me a quick tour of the property and as a solo, older woman traveler, I felt at home. The pool was so refreshing. Parking was tight, but not an issue. The property/mt room was on the waterfront with seawall views of the sunset. Waves crashing all night, the sound was magical. I will be back! Thank you Kona Tiki Hotel, I'm a fan.

Absolutely wonderful location overlooking the water. Quiet, clean and comfortable. Beautiful room layout and amenities provided. Convenient check-in process. Lovely pool area to lounge and hear the crashing waves. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing atmosphere. I believe there are only 16 or so rooms available so we really didn't see any other guests during our stay. No A/C but the fans kept the room comfortable. The constant sound of crashing waves were soothing. A 10-15 minute walk to restaurants and small convenience stores. We would definitely stay here again. Mahalo!

This little gem was a great place for us to relax. Our room was steps away from the ocean . We could hear the waves crashing against the rocks and feel the ocean breeze. Not a big or fancy place. There is no ac or tv in rooms, but we didn't need it. We watched the beautiful sunset from the pool area. Needs a bit of updating. There was some bubbled and peeling paint in the bathroom. Our stay was only one night in this small quaint place, but we enjoyed our time there.

The good- *location- close to Hon’l Beach, Kailua-Kona, right on the water in a small inlet, comfortable beds, decent amenities, had some chairs and snorkel available to borrow, good vibe, people were friendly (staff and guests), The not so good- no AC (didn’t think this would be an issue, but it got pretty uncomfortable to sleep), bugs- ants on patio and a huge cockroach flew into our room while we had the screen open so we made sure to keep it closed at all times after we were able to shoo it out, the whole facility is a little dated but the pool area was nice (I never saw anyone use the pool tho) Summary- Nice rustic boutique style hotel that kinda throws you back to ‘old Hawai’i’ style vacations with minimal amenities (definitely not a resort). I would stay here again as I am good with that.

I enjoyed my stay as the Kona Tiki is right by the ocean and I felt at home in this smaller hotel. Michelle was friendly and helpful. My room had been updated so it looked clean and fresh. I had a microwave and fridge as well as a kettle, toaster, coffee maker and crockery & cutlery. Although there is no a/c, there is a ceiling fan and breeze from the sea plus a plug in fan which I didn't need to use. There is no tv however there is free wifi so I streamed some shows on my ipad, with headphones as there is a quiet time after 9pm. I didn't use the pool but it looked very clean as did the surrounding terrace. There is currently some building work being done on the upper floor but it didn't disturb me too much. I would definitely rebook the Kona Tiki as it felt like a home from home

We booked without realizing there was no air-conditioning. Thats on us. It did get muggy inside but with fans at night it was doable. We killed 3 roaches and there were a lot of gnat type insects. I think they are common in the island. Pool and view is incredible. Rooms were clean and very nice. Landscaping, pool, grounds all very nice. Price was great. Next time would opt for something with AC and no roaches.

First of all, all rooms in the hotel are within a few yards of the Pacific Ocean. No need for fans or white noise generators; you fall asleep to the sound of actual waves crashing against the seawall right in front of the hotel. There is no phone or TV, but good wifi. The room is simple, and unpretentious. It looks like a classic 1950s hotel, but with the kind of upgrades that make the most sense (new floor, bathroom door, and shower enclosure). The bed is comfortable and the room decor is dominated by sliding glass doors the full width of the room. Gorgeous ocean EXPERIENCE! All the rooms have a lovely sheltered lanai. Our room was on the 3rd floor and we never closed the door once. Loved the breeze and the ocean waves crashing on the sea wall below. Parking is TIGHT as stated. so do get a small rental car. Ali'i Drive is very busy so the car and motorcycle sounds were a (slight) downside. Fortunately the 24/7 ocean waves more than made up for it. We loved that it was a small property, not a big high-rise, and adults only. Our room was clean and comfortable and the whole property is well-maintained. Rooms have a kitchenette which is helpful as every visitor to Hawaii knows, meals are expensive. We fixed breakfast in our room every day (coffee maker, microwave and toaster; no stove) and a few lunches as well. Fridge was good size; no freezer though. Beachcombers should know that the closest beach is a brisk 5 minute walk away. Overall, would definitely recommend!

An older hotel close to the ocean, about a 20 minute walk to Kona. It is very close to the ocean so, indeed, the waves are crashing outside your window. We loved watching the kids surf and the crabs walking up and down the wall. We enjoyed sitting on the patio! No A/C so we had to have the windows open all the time. This also let in the street noise but often it was drowned out by the ocean. With our windows open and being on the ground floor (and without a safe in the room), we were worried about safety but nothing happened. Parking is an issue and while the owners asked people to rent small cars, people don't so the few spots there are even more crowded with jeeps and minivans. Street parking is available but it means crossing a street/highway that is often very busy. Others reported excellent wifi but we did not find that the case and it wasn't strong enough to support one device. We did report this to the owners so hopefully they can resolve it. This place is perfect. It's small, quiet, right up to the ocean, has a salt water pool, and the room is bright and welcoming. Sleeping with the sliding door open to the sounds of crashing waves on the rocks is sheer heaven. It's close enough to downtown Kona that you could walk to the restaurants and shopping. Lovely staff, too.

This tiny hotel is in a good location right on the ocean and about a 15 to 20 minute walk into town. It has a very tiny parking lot. There is no air conditioning so you hear the sound of the breaking waves at all times the bathroom is tiny and for us was a major problem because we could barely get any hot water And the water pressure was really bad. The pool is OK and we did use it every day for a quick swim, so there are pros but some cons as well.

Karen is a responsive welcoming property manager. The hotel sits on the Kona coastline and we had a beautiful view! There is WiFi and no TV only the sounds of the waves which was amazing! The kitchenette is small but very functional and they have a nice Weber grill by the pool. Excellent location, close but not too close to the busy area of larger hotels. I highly recommend this lovely place!

Really enjoyed my time at the Kona Tiki Hotel. Convenient to many shops and restaurants, I often opted to walk rather than deal with parking. Staff was very kind and helpful. Great pool, especially considering the size of the property. Beautiful views and sounds of the ocean.

What a gem in Kona! My wife and I were evaluating our options between a large hotel or the Kona Tikki and we decided to stay at the Tikki. You get a great ocean front view that’s unbeatable and great value for money compared to larger hotels and what they charge for an “ocean view”. There are no TV’s or Air Conditioning but it was just fine. There’s plenty of ocean breeze to keep you cool and the lack of tv is nice, it allows you to focus on the trip, your spouse/travel partner. The staff was friendly, welcoming and helpful with anything we needed. They are very diligent about maintaining the property at the highest level. We will be staying here again and you should too!

This place was absolutely perfect! The first day of our stay, the road was blocked off for the Ironman race, and I’ve never been happier to be trapped somewhere. The suite had a perfect view, comfortable bed with ceiling fan, well-stocked kitchen and lovely Oceanside pool. The manager was so friendly and helpful!

This hotel is such a gem. We loved having coffee on the lanai each morning with the ocean crashing on the sea wall below. Just beautiful. It was quiet at night and we were able to walk into town for dinner/shopping. It’s a great base for the west side of the island—we stayed for a week and did so much but always enjoyed returning to the hotel for a dip in the wonderfully refreshing salt water pool or just to relax on the lanai. Highly recommend!

This is such a great place to stay!!! The view of the ocean is unreal!! You're close enough to town to walk anywhere. The owners actually do care!!! Slight ding for a very tiny parking lot that can be a bit of struggle to get out of (but I'm a bad driver). I would happily recommend this place!!!

Amazing views from all areas of this property, if your looking for an air conditioned stay (this not for you) no air con. Please mindful there is no lift provided for higher floor levels and the carpark area is very restrictive. A good walk to nice restaurants if you are fit, staff very polite.

A nice room. It is just a text to check in and out and we had no problems during our stay. We enjoyed the ocean view from our lanai and watching the crabs play on the sea wall. We also enjoyed seeing the birds and lizards around the back garden area and would stop to see them every time coming and going. The full sunset can be seen from the steps of the building or pool area. The no air conditioning wasn’t a problem for the most part. It was a little on the warm side during the day, but nothing over whelming. We kept the lanai doors open as much as possible to keep the room cooler, but had to close them at night due to the noise because I am a super light sleeper and even with ear plugs the ocean and traffic noise was too much for me. We used the ceiling fan and provided floor fan while sleeping and it was comfortable. It is not really walkable to anything, but we really enjoyed the small size of the hotel and that it was less busy around us. We were the only ones in the pool everytime we used it, which was nice. There is a fridge, microwave, coffee pot and a few other small cooking appliances that we didn’t use. A few dishes and silver wear available. Just FYI they supply one pot of coffee, but no cream or sugar so make sure you bring extra coffee with you and any add ins needed. It is a regular coffee pot, no k cups or anything of the sort. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Such a cozy boutique hotel. Everything was set up and ready to go by the time we landed-so we were able to go straight to the room. The ocean view lanai was my favorite part. No AC but with the ocean breeze and fans we didn’t need. Small hotel pool with patio lounge chairs perfect for relaxing. They provided beach towels. Gorgeous ocean EXPERIENCE! All the rooms have a lovely sheltered lanai. Our room was on the 3rd floor and we never closed the door once. Loved the breeze and the ocean waves crashing on the sea wall below. Parking is TIGHT as stated. so do get a small rental car. Ali'i Drive is very busy so the car and motorcycle sounds were a (slight) downside. Fortunately the 24/7 ocean waves more than made up for it. We loved that it was a small property, not a big high-rise, and adults only. Our room was clean and comfortable and the whole property is well-maintained. Rooms have a kitchenette which is helpful as every visitor to Hawaii knows, meals are expensive. We fixed breakfast in our room every day (coffee maker, microwave and toaster; no stove) and a few lunches as well. Fridge was good size; no freezer though. Beachcombers should know that the closest beach is a brisk 5 minute walk away. Overall, would definitely recommend!

Karen is a responsive welcoming property manager. The hotel sits on the Kona coastline and we had a beautiful view! There is WiFi and no TV only the sounds of the waves which was amazing! The kitchenette is small but very functional and they have a nice Weber grill by the pool. Excellent location, close but not too close to the busy area of larger hotels. I highly recommend this lovely place!

I have been a Marriott member for years; thought that the chain provided the best service so stuck with it for years. Over the last 2 years I have been using hotels.com to find small, quaint hotels to stay at and found this one for a quick couple trip in early May 2023. Found some good tickets from SJC>KOA and so was searching for a place to stay and the Courtyard wanted ~$350 a night and this place wanted around the same prices but it was heavenly. 1. no tv's, so you enjoy the view, the sounds and the pool 2. quiet and only 17 rooms 3. had the pool to ourselves the 3 days we were there with the exception of the 2nd day where we shared the pool deck with a couple who stayed for 5 minutes then left. 4. The rooms are decorated nicely and very clean. 5. Easy to get to and nice couple owns the hotel. 6. They have fridges and light dishes in the room so you can easily hop to the store and grab breakfast food. 7. shop locally (not safeway) and try HiCo coffee, so good, and serves alchohol. We will be back for sure, it's the perfect place for us and glad we found it.

This is such a great place to stay!!! The view of the ocean is unreal!! You're close enough to town to walk anywhere. The owners actually do care!!! Slight ding for a very tiny parking lot that can be a bit of struggle to get out of (but I'm a bad driver). I would happily recommend this place!!!

Absolutely wonderful location overlooking the water. Quiet, clean and comfortable. Beautiful room layout and amenities provided. Convenient check-in process. Lovely pool area to lounge and hear the crashing waves. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing atmosphere. I believe there are only 16 or so rooms available so we really didn't see any other guests during our stay. No A/C but the fans kept the room comfortable. The constant sound of crashing waves were soothing. A 10-15 minute walk to restaurants and small convenience stores. We would definitely stay here again. Mahalo!

I enjoyed my stay as the Kona Tiki is right by the ocean and I felt at home in this smaller hotel. Michelle was friendly and helpful. My room had been updated so it looked clean and fresh. I had a microwave and fridge as well as a kettle, toaster, coffee maker and crockery & cutlery. Although there is no a/c, there is a ceiling fan and breeze from the sea plus a plug in fan which I didn't need to use. There is no tv however there is free wifi so I streamed some shows on my ipad, with headphones as there is a quiet time after 9pm. I didn't use the pool but it looked very clean as did the surrounding terrace. There is currently some building work being done on the upper floor but it didn't disturb me too much. I would definitely rebook the Kona Tiki as it felt like a home from home

Hidden gem! A quick walk (less than a mile) into Kona to experience fun restaurants and shops. The salt water pool was clean and refreshing and gave a view of incredible sunsets. No AC but the ocean breeze provided plenty of cool air. Small kitchenette was very useful so we didn’t have to dine out for expensive breakfasts. Would highly recommended!

A nice room. It is just a text to check in and out and we had no problems during our stay. We enjoyed the ocean view from our lanai and watching the crabs play on the sea wall. We also enjoyed seeing the birds and lizards around the back garden area and would stop to see them every time coming and going. The full sunset can be seen from the steps of the building or pool area. The no air conditioning wasn’t a problem for the most part. It was a little on the warm side during the day, but nothing over whelming. We kept the lanai doors open as much as possible to keep the room cooler, but had to close them at night due to the noise because I am a super light sleeper and even with ear plugs the ocean and traffic noise was too much for me. We used the ceiling fan and provided floor fan while sleeping and it was comfortable. It is not really walkable to anything, but we really enjoyed the small size of the hotel and that it was less busy around us. We were the only ones in the pool everytime we used it, which was nice. There is a fridge, microwave, coffee pot and a few other small cooking appliances that we didn’t use. A few dishes and silver wear available. Just FYI they supply one pot of coffee, but no cream or sugar so make sure you bring extra coffee with you and any add ins needed. It is a regular coffee pot, no k cups or anything of the sort. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Ocean was visible from our veranda. View was great. No AC, but the morning and evening breezes were great. Room is compact, but well planned.... you want to get out most of the day anyways (you're in Hawaii), and just crash at night.
