The staff was kind and sweet, highly recommend. But there was a very loud party on the roof deck until 1am. When I asked for another quieter room none were available and I was told to use ear plugs. Ear plugs don’t help screaming. So be aware of the noise. Also, I got nickel and dimed for everything, indulging a latte that was apparently not part of breakfast and a few pieces meat for my dog. That’s so sad. After paying $50 a night for her (25% of the room cost), and paying for every little thing while I was there less than 12 hours. You should work with your guests a little bit more.

Lovely gem in the center of historic Oaxaca. Renovated old Oaxaca family home with beautiful gardens and a pool. Beautiful attention to detail in rooms, balconies and patios. Staff amazing. Strongly recommend

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this stay was disappointing from beginning to end. The problems started before I even arrived. There was a major festival with road closures around the hotel, yet no one informed us in advance. We arrived with luggage only to find ourselves stranded in large crowds, with no guidance on how to access the property. A simple email or text would have completely avoided this. After checking in, I mentioned to the staff that better communication would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, the communication issues continued. The next morning, I was awakened very early by loud construction immediately next to my room. Once again, there had been no warning. For a hotel charging premium rates, this is unacceptable. The final straw came on the second night when the air conditioning stopped working. At around 2:00 a.m., I had to pack all my belongings and move rooms. What was presented as an “upgrade” turned out to be an even noisier room, making it nearly impossible to get a good night’s sleep. The hotel offered only a small credit for the inconvenience, but there was little effort to truly recover the experience or make things right. For the prices this property charges, guests should expect proactive communication, a quiet room, and everything to function properly. Instead, we experienced poor communication, construction noise, and a room change in the middle of the night. If you want to enjoy a vacation, I would stay away from this place!
