Mhontong Homestay

Me and my friend had an incredible stay at Mhontong. We were welcomed in and felt like part of the family. The location is in a quiet rural fishing town, the locals are all very kind and gave us lots of smiles as we explored the area. Our host went above and beyond to make our stay there the best it could be. We were given lots of reccomendations of what to do in the area and had a private boat tour arranged, taking us to all the less touristy places ! We were accompanied by one of the hosts who helped translate with the boat driver and looked after us on the trip. The view from the property itself is beautiful and right in the national park. Do not let the pictures screw you. This hotel is a dive. I wouldn’ recommended it to anyone. I wish I still had the pictures that I could show you. There was no hot water. There was no TV. there were large cracks in the wall. The worst was a smell. Right next-door there was a fish processing organization. You got to be kidding me The proprietor spoke no English when the tide was out. It was one great big mud bowl. The breakfast in the morning was reasonable, but not great. I would never go back. Also it is an hour away from Krabi

Beautiful national park

Loved my stay there. Located waterfront in the quiet local community. Sweet owner and her son. She lined up a great boat tour of the area. I highly reccomend!!

I am used to the dilapidated nature of bargain home stays but this was beyond that to actual neglect and disrepair. When we arrived the air conditioner was not working well and despite being the only guests there, we weren’t moved to another room. I can only imagine they were worse. They sent a repairman to fix it but it wasn’t fixed. There was rust all over, dangling wires, exposed holes etc. The shower had broken knobs, weak water pressure and was c very small. There are a couple nearby seafood restaurants that had fresh fish dishes that we enjoyed. There aren’t a lot of options in the area to visit the nearby temple and boat tours but I would try to find a different one from here. We stayed a couple nights and it got the job done but I wouldn’t recommend it.
