The location of La Puerta Azul is wonderful! It is on the quite stretch of island, but a brisk walk it short taxi (golf card) ride to the center. There were constructions at the hotel near but that was not bothersome. At breakfast, on multiple occasions the butter knife on the butter/ jam dish was dirty which made me think we’ve been eating the butter/jam left over from other quests. The plastic braided lounge chairs on the beach were very uncomfortable. It was such a turn off! The towels (one per person) were too small to cover the chair and you really can’t lay on these chairs without covering. The pain in the hot plastic braiding pattern indenting your body is no joke. We asked for one extra towel and were told NO! :( another turn off… The hotels around (next door) were much more appealing, comfortable lounge area, great restaurants and beach bars. We would have spent the days at La Puerta Azul if we were given an extra towel. Please get some lounge chair cushions!! Small price to pay to earn returning customers and increase revenue from your bar/ restaurant! For our next time, we’ll try a different hotel in the vicinity!

I normally don’t leave a description of my stays but…. The hotel is good valie for the money. In detail: Location: If you want peaceful beaches and your plan is to disconnect (which was my goal) the hotel location is perfect! Rooms: The room is very clean, nice and confortable, beds are a little too hard (and i like a hard bed) could use a topper or something. Beach area: Is perfect to relax, but the sun beds REALLY NEED a cushion Pool: Dont look inviting at all! And you can’t lay there as there is no sun beds Food: Great breakfast Food was good Staff: It seems like they are trained to say NO. Definitely not friendly AT ALL with solo travelers Not helpful Makes you feel completely unwanted Not the right people to work at hospitality specially the front desk staff Extras: Breakfast opens at 8:00am so it would be great if rooms had coffee machines or coffee available a bit earlier

We spent a week at this property. Unfortunately rained most of the days there, but in general the property is well located and safe. This property is closer to Playa Cocos and a good walk to the main city (15-20 mins walk). It is about an hour walking to Playa Mosquito. The property is rustic (plain and simple). No major amenities, except a pool in the middle of the property, and a tiki bar that it is open throughout the day until after sunset, where you can get drinks while at the beach. Front desk personnel were very informative, and helpful providing details about the area, the property, and the island in general. Our special thanks to Francisco, who was in charge of the breakfast area every single day, and to Manuel, who covered for him while he was on days off. Both guys are super. Breakfast choices very good, and delicious. We noticed that portions were a bit small, and no option to ask for more. All very much measured. Property is beachfront, but the "ocean view rooms" have limited view of the beach, and not a full clear view as other properties do have. Expect to see a couple of iguanas wondering around as part of the island/beach life. In general, a good place to stay.

El hotel está bien ubicado, no está en el pueblo sin embargo puedes llegar a él caminando, lo que sin duda es bueno si quieres estar alejado pero cerca. La atención del personal es inigualable, la comida muy buena y el espacio en general muy agradable. Lo único que mejoraría es la limpieza de la alberca, necesita mantenimiento, el agua nunca estuvo cristalina.

Excellent séjour dans cet hôtel bord de plage. Chambres spacieuses, serviettes de plage fournies. Très bien arboré et décoré avec goût. Le seul bémol concerne la plage, il y a un petit restau ouvert à tous. Les clients de passage prennent les transats de l’hôtel. Il n’y a pas de distinction qui permet de les empêcher de squatter. Personnel très agréable

Great hotel ! Very quiet and relaxing place to stay. Was located on one of the nicest stretches of beach that I saw. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There are a few great options for food very close by. The hotel restaurant on the beach did a great job as well. Delicious margaritas that were 2 for 1 all day :) I would definitely stay here again. It is a bit far from town, about a 20 minute walk or a 200 pesos cab ride. Really difficult to walk the beach into town because some of the hotels are built to the waters edge. I did enjoy being away from the crowds.

Wir hatten einen fabelhaften Aufenthalt hier (4 Nächte). Der Strand mit eigenen Liegen war algenfrei und sehr gepflegt (auch Bioluminiszenz sieht man im Dunkeln). Erst haben wir das als normal empfunden, aber als wir nach rechts und links mal spaziert sind, sah das bei den anderen ganz anders aus. Die Lage war für uns perfekt. In ca 20Min zu Fuß ist man in der Innenstadt (inkl. lauten Golfcarts; vielen Touristen; Bars mit lauter Musik, sodass man sein eigenes Wort nicht versteht) - wenn man mal mehr Action haben will. Die Bar an „unserem“ Strand hat uns gut gefallen: die Cocktails waren lecker und das Essen super. Deutlich besser als in den umliegenden Hotels (und preislich auch viel besser). Die Klimaanlage war (endlich mal) sehr leise. Das Frühstück ist a la carte (mal wählt aus ca 10 Gerichten) und alles hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Wir können das Hotel nur empfehlen.

Es mi segunda visita y seguramente mi lugar seguro para volver, los espacios son limpios y muy cuidados. Los chicos de la playa muy atentos,.la comida rica. La limpieza excelente. Solo por desgracia la isla está haciéndose más grande, hay construcción cerca que empieza 7am aún en domingo, no tiene nada que ver con el hotel pero si despierta. 10000%recomendado si deseas tranquilidad, playa limpia y hermosa y reconectar.

El personal es sensacional, desayunamos y comimos ahi es muy fresco y rico ...solo dos observaciones las almohadas son malisimas y aunque no fuimos a ver la tele en la villa que rente que es una de las amenidades no hubo señal. La regadera le hace falta una buena limpiada para que salga bien el agua !! Me dieron LCO lo cual agradezco...y espero regresar todo lo demas es increíble...soy repetitiva y nos vemos pronto

We absolutely loved our stay at La Puerta Azul. The property was beautiful and clean. The staff were very kind. The food and atmosphere at the beach club was great. This hotel was on the quieter end of the island but the walk into town was easy. Would definitely recommend- can’t wait to return!

Es sumamente limpio, no se si es nuevo o renovado pero es verdaderamente limpio, en perfecto estado, bastante luz en los espacios, frente al mar con sus camastros y sobre todo un lugar para disfrutar de paz y tranquilidad si es lo que estás buscando. Me encantó y seguramente regresaré Muchas gracias. También tienen atención pre-arrival lo cual es top.

I would recommend to stay here in Holbox! If this place would implement a couple of tweaks to its service culture it could easily be a 10/10. Pros: - best location in holbox (best beach, close to punta coco and more quite and far away from the bad smell and city) - rooms and hotel amenities are great - decent breakfast (a la carte) - amazing beach bar with music (sometimes dj) where you can enjoy the most incredible sunsets Cons: - The shower in the hotel room was a joke (plus no shampoo was provided) - AC didnt work properly - Hotel service felt like they only wanted tips and were constantly trying to charge you for additional things. For example we asked for a lunchbox instead of our included breakfast and were charged 220 pesos on top. It also happened 2 times that the staff at the beach club just assumed that we didnt want any change back. This was a bit ridiculous and ruined the vibe. More than happy to tip more than average if the service is good but just taking the tip and not asking just doesnt seem right.
I would recommend to stay here in Holbox! If this place would implement a couple of tweaks to its service culture it could easily be a 10/10. Pros: - best location in holbox (best beach, close to punta coco and more quite and far away from the bad smell and city) - rooms and hotel amenities are great - decent breakfast (a la carte) - amazing beach bar with music (sometimes dj) where you can enjoy the most incredible sunsets Cons: - The shower in the hotel room was a joke (plus no shampoo was provided) - AC didnt work properly - Hotel service felt like they only wanted tips and were constantly trying to charge you for additional things. For example we asked for a lunchbox instead of our included breakfast and were charged 220 pesos on top. It also happened 2 times that the staff at the beach club just assumed that we didnt want any change back. This was a bit ridiculous and ruined the vibe. More than happy to tip more than average if the service is good but just taking the tip and not asking just doesnt seem right.

El personal es sensacional, desayunamos y comimos ahi es muy fresco y rico ...solo dos observaciones las almohadas son malisimas y aunque no fuimos a ver la tele en la villa que rente que es una de las amenidades no hubo señal. La regadera le hace falta una buena limpiada para que salga bien el agua !! Me dieron LCO lo cual agradezco...y espero regresar todo lo demas es increíble...soy repetitiva y nos vemos pronto

I normally don’t leave a description of my stays but…. The hotel is good valie for the money. In detail: Location: If you want peaceful beaches and your plan is to disconnect (which was my goal) the hotel location is perfect! Rooms: The room is very clean, nice and confortable, beds are a little too hard (and i like a hard bed) could use a topper or something. Beach area: Is perfect to relax, but the sun beds REALLY NEED a cushion Pool: Dont look inviting at all! The hotel looked a lot better in the photos. The beach area was dilapidated and ugly and the pool was so small. The rooms were not very welcoming with small hard beds. And a bad location with a long golf cart ride to and from. Breakfast was good though.

I like everything about this property and staff. I wish they have a mini refrigerator because it is very much needed for your drinks, and maybe a microwave. Other than that was great. The girls that work at the beach bar and restaurant were very nice.

Juste paradisiaque! Hollbox est à voir et la puerta azul rend cette découverte merveilleuse. Chambre spacieuse propre lumineuse avec une baie vitrée donnant directement sur la piscine , quelques pas plus loin la plage privée de l’hôtel…un accueil souriant et pro , un petit dej savoureux … tout est parfait pour profiter pleinement de ce paradis. Ça a clôturé à merveille les vacances au Mexique. Merci

I want to give this property a higher rating, but I just can't. For the room, staff, breakfast and property condition I'd give it 5 stars! All of that was wonderful. However, to call the hotel 'adults only' is not accurate. There was a family with 3 small children staying at the hotel. Plus the beach restaurant on the hotel property allows children to be at the restaurant meaning there were children running around all over the beach and using beach chairs all day long. If you're going to call the property adults Only- then you need to set policies around the hotel restaurant as well. We left to eat at other places because of how many children there were, when we would have gladly have eaten at the hotel. Another bad point of the hotel is that we chose it for being slightly away from town because we wanted a quiet relaxing experience. However, the hotel next door would loud bass thumping music from 3:30-11ish every day. And then sometimes the La Puerta Azul restaurant would have a DJ and the music would complete making it the least relaxing environment. So overall, I would not recommend this hotel despite some of it's great qualities.

Everything was great, the only thing that I can mention is that there was not TV on the room, it is not something negative, but like sometimes on rainy days or at the end of the day you might want watch a movie. The staff was very nice and the room very spacious.

Albergo direttamente sul mare, raggiungibile a piedi dal porto di Holbox in 25 minuti o, meglio, in 10 minuti prendendo uno dei numerosi taxi quad locali. La camera spaziosa con un piccolo terrazzo è fronte mare. Sulla spiaggia vi sono numerosi lettini a disposizione dei clienti dell'hotel. È presente anche un bar/ristorante sulla spiaggia. This was an awesome place to stay. Relaxing, clean, beach was amazing. Sunsets were absolutely stunning. Unlike anything I’ve seen before. Restaurant and bar on the beach were a bonus. The absolute best thing was by far the staff. After a few days they became like family. They went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. They truly made my vacation special. Huge thank you to all of you. 😊

Fue la peor estancia imaginable. Unas personas empezaron a hacer escándalo con bebidas alcohólicas en la alberca a las 23:30hrs, después unas de esas personas estaban nadando desnudas y teniendo relaciones sexuales en la alberca, después, hubo pelea, incluyendo que aventaron sillas y mesas, estábamos en la habitación 4 y se pelearon Justo afuera de nuestra ventana, temíamos por nuestra seguridad, mandamos whatsapp, llamamos por WhatsApp y por celular al número del hotel para pedir ayuda y nadie contestó. No había algún velador o guardia o nadie que nos auxiliara. La situación descrita con las personas se extendió toda la noche. No dormimos ni un segundo por miedo. En la mañana le comentamos al chico que está en recepción y prácticamente dijo: “pues ya paso”. Es terrible que pasen estas cosas y que ni siquiera nos ofrezcan una disculpa o una solución. Fue un escándalo toda la noche, en un lugar que considerábamos decente y de buen gusto. Ojalá los dueños tomen cartas en el asunto, por lo pronto nosotros que hemos estado ahí en 3 ocasiones, no creo que los volvamos a considerar para hospedarnos.

The location is not bad but the receptionist and some staff was very rude and unfriendly. Restaurant doesn’t open until 9am even when they told us it would be open at 8am. Very inconvenient to have limited access to food or anything to drink before 9am or after 6:30pm. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Great hotel ! Very quiet and relaxing place to stay. Was located on one of the nicest stretches of beach that I saw. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There are a few great options for food very close by. The hotel restaurant on the beach did a great job as well. Delicious margaritas that were 2 for 1 all day :) I would definitely stay here again. It is a bit far from town, about a 20 minute walk or a 200 pesos cab ride. Really difficult to walk the beach into town because some of the hotels are built to the waters edge. I did enjoy being away from the crowds.

It was a beautiful beach but the restaurant service was terrible. The waiter was rude and slow. He was there our entire stay. We did get lucky at lounge chairs and Leonardo the server was amazing.

Wir hatten einen fabelhaften Aufenthalt hier (4 Nächte). Der Strand mit eigenen Liegen war algenfrei und sehr gepflegt (auch Bioluminiszenz sieht man im Dunkeln). Erst haben wir das als normal empfunden, aber als wir nach rechts und links mal spaziert sind, sah das bei den anderen ganz anders aus. Die Lage war für uns perfekt. In ca 20Min zu Fuß ist man in der Innenstadt (inkl. lauten Golfcarts; vielen Touristen; Bars mit lauter Musik, sodass man sein eigenes Wort nicht versteht) - wenn man mal mehr Action haben will. Die Bar an „unserem“ Strand hat uns gut gefallen: die Cocktails waren lecker und das Essen super. Deutlich besser als in den umliegenden Hotels (und preislich auch viel besser). Die Klimaanlage war (endlich mal) sehr leise. Das Frühstück ist a la carte (mal wählt aus ca 10 Gerichten) und alles hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Wir können das Hotel nur empfehlen.

Nous avons adoré le « ceviche imperial » du restaurant. Le restaurant fermait à 20h sur notre période. A savoir pour prévoir votre soirée (d’autres fermaient à 19h). Prévoir de l’anti moustique, car l’ile en est infestée. Merci pour ce beau petit séjour. Je recommande.

We absolutely loved our stay at La Puerta Azul. The property was beautiful and clean. The staff were very kind. The food and atmosphere at the beach club was great. This hotel was on the quieter end of the island but the walk into town was easy. Would definitely recommend- can’t wait to return!

The location is not bad but the receptionist and some staff was very rude and unfriendly. Restaurant doesn’t open until 9am even when they told us it would be open at 8am. Very inconvenient to have limited access to food or anything to drink before 9am or after 6:30pm. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Great hotel ! Very quiet and relaxing place to stay. Was located on one of the nicest stretches of beach that I saw. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There are a few great options for food very close by. The hotel restaurant on the beach did a great job as well. Delicious margaritas that were 2 for 1 all day :) I would definitely stay here again. It is a bit far from town, about a 20 minute walk or a 200 pesos cab ride. Really difficult to walk the beach into town because some of the hotels are built to the waters edge. I did enjoy being away from the crowds.

Wir hatten einen fabelhaften Aufenthalt hier (4 Nächte). Der Strand mit eigenen Liegen war algenfrei und sehr gepflegt (auch Bioluminiszenz sieht man im Dunkeln). Erst haben wir das als normal empfunden, aber als wir nach rechts und links mal spaziert sind, sah das bei den anderen ganz anders aus. Die Lage war für uns perfekt. In ca 20Min zu Fuß ist man in der Innenstadt (inkl. lauten Golfcarts; vielen Touristen; Bars mit lauter Musik, sodass man sein eigenes Wort nicht versteht) - wenn man mal mehr Action haben will. Die Bar an „unserem“ Strand hat uns gut gefallen: die Cocktails waren lecker und das Essen super. Deutlich besser als in den umliegenden Hotels (und preislich auch viel besser). Die Klimaanlage war (endlich mal) sehr leise. Das Frühstück ist a la carte (mal wählt aus ca 10 Gerichten) und alles hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Wir können das Hotel nur empfehlen.

La struttura si trova in una zona tranquilla a pochi minuti di taxi dal "centro" dell'isola; Ha un aspetto molto grazioso e si presenta molto pulita ed ordinata....anche nella zona beach dove si può usufruire di lettino e/o ombrellone. (Ristorante/bar, on demand) Il servizio ristorante/bar in zona spiaggia è molto valido, sia per la qualità delle proposte che per la gentilezza di tutto lo staff : è stata una bellissima esperienza.

It was a beautiful beach but the restaurant service was terrible. The waiter was rude and slow. He was there our entire stay. We did get lucky at lounge chairs and Leonardo the server was amazing.

Everything was great, the only thing that I can mention is that there was not TV on the room, it is not something negative, but like sometimes on rainy days or at the end of the day you might want watch a movie. The staff was very nice and the room very spacious.
