Crater Rim Cabin is an amazing and special place to stay. It's a unique cabin, incredibly clean and cozy, and Jim and Barry are the most thoughtful hosts. The grounds are gorgeous and you can't beat the 5-minute drive to Volcanoes National Park. Our every need was anticipated, from fresh drinking water to an extra fan for the bathroom (it's a wood cabin in a rainforest, after all!) and heated blankets on the large, comfortable bed. We loved the array of guidebooks, maps, and the DVD on the last 40 years of Kīlauea's activity.

We have been staying in cabins for close to 30 years and this is one of the best places we've ever stayed at. Everything about the cabin is exceptional. The hosts go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Would definitely recommend staying here when visiting Volcanos National Park.

The hosts were excellent, so friendly and a joy to talk to. The Crater Rim Cabin was secluded and stocked with everything you could possibly need or want. The grounds were beautiful. It was located close to the Volcanos National Park. We stayed three nights and highly recommend this place for staying in the area and exploring.

We cannot speak highly enough about our stay in the cabin. This is clearly a labor of love for Barry and Jim, and it shows in the preparation, comfort, and all the little details that greeted us. Even after we arrived, they made sure all our questions were answered and helped us plan our visit. They sent suggestions for dining and activities, and (most importantly to us!) kept us updated on what Kilauea was doing. We were incredibly lucky on that front, as we were able to watch a fountaining episode start on our second night. The cabin itself is just beautiful ... redwood all around, tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. A lovely garden in the back just added to the experience.

Absolutely lovely, comfortable and cozy cottage. We were made feel as this was our own home. 5 stars only because we couldn't assign 6.
