Stayed 2 nights

The hotel is very beautiful, nestled in the jungle overlooking Playa Mermejita, with beautiful sunset views. We stayed in an ocean-view room and waking up in the morning with the sound of the Pacific Ocean is one of the best experiences I have ever had. Unfortunately, the food from Cacao restaurant, one of the two restaurants on the premises, was a bit underwhelming - given the eco-luxury style of the hotel, we would have expected a more lasting impression from our dinner there and the price-quality ratio was not great. We stayed at Cocolia at the same time as a large group of people who had pre-booked the rooftop terrace of the Cacao restaurant for all their meals, from breakfast to dinner, every day. Given how beautiful the view is from the rooftop terrace, it would have been great to enjoy at least one breakfast on the terrace. Instead we were told that the terrace was off-limits to all the other hotel guests. A shame! I had a very unpleasant accident on Playa Mermejita - something unrelated to Cocolia and its staff - and, upon my request, the front desk team called the doctor to come and visit me. While the doctor promptly arrived to the hotel, I would have appreciated receiving a bit more attention by the front desk team - one of my legs was bleeding and the emergency aid kit was only provided upon my request. Other than this, the rest was great and I highly recommend Mazunte!

From the moment I arrived, this property completely exceeded my expectations. The entire place is absolutely stunning — every detail, from the layout of the land to the location itself, feels intentional and beautifully thought out. The aesthetic is next-level, with architecture, furniture, and design touches that create a space that’s both luxurious and deeply calming. The food was another standout. Every meal was genuinely delicious, and I really appreciated how the menu honoured local Mexican cuisine. It didn’t feel generic or watered down — it felt authentic, elevated, and full of flavour. The pools were perfect — clean, well-designed, and incredibly relaxing. On top of that, the poolside amenities were top notch, making it easy to spend entire days just enjoying that space without needing anything else. What truly set this place apart, though, was the service. The staff went above and beyond at every turn. It never felt forced or overly formal — just genuine, attentive, and thoughtful in a way that made the whole experience feel effortless. Overall, this is the kind of place you don’t just stay at — you experience. I’d come back in a heartbeat.
