It wasn't a bad stay. Fairly easy to find, and close to other facilities to eat and shop. I wish them well with the renovations.

Just your basic motel room, they’re currently remodeling the property to upgrade

Terrible experience and sis not even stay. False amenities listed. Direct tv is not clear enough to watch and there is no wifi. Two by fours and tarps hanging above the walkways so the leaky roof won’t drip on patrons. Peeling paint in the rooms, trash in the corner of the bathroom. All started with a 35 minute check-in because of computer issues. Wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Hotel was clean, but very dated. They are remodeling some of the rooms. Beds were very comfortable. Front desk was exceptional. No frills, but very inexpensive. Have stayed here multiple times.

Mike informed water issues and Expedia helped me find an alternative hotel else I would be stranded

The room was clean but the hotel is under renovation so there was no Wi-Fi & no breakfast. Don't know if breakfast was ever offered but the Wi-Fi was in the online ad as well as the Altoona guide book.

My room was functional and clean. Property undergoing some room renovations. Overall, it gets the job done for the price you are paying. No complaints.

Door card didn't work, twice. Ice machine broken. Sign said, "See front office for ice". Went to front office, no ice there either.Had to make another trip for ice. Tried to log on to two servers labeled HCL.(Horse Shoe Lodge?). No good. Called front office, they said log on to Econolodge. Could have told me that at check in. Little things. But simple things that should be standard. After a long day of travel and work, I just want to check in, log on, and enjoy an ice cold beverage without issue.

Great place to stay when looking for an overnight stay after a Penn State football game. 30 minutes from State College, and an easy drive. The best thing about this place is the price. As most hotels from Altoona to State College inflate their prices for home games, the ‘Curve’ maintains their low prices. As described by other reviews, the place is a bit dated including the bathrooms, but they are in process of renovating them. So this should improve.

All and all for the age of the property, our stay was pleasant. I travel through this area several times a year but I did not know this motel was here. The owners are working on remodeling, assumedly it was recently reopened following being another chain's location. The staff at check-in was well prepared and friendly. The shower had good water pressure and was hot. The climate control worked well. Beds were new and exactly as they should be. The property is older and needing updating but our room as fine. A good value for the area -- and close to many restaurants and shopping. The Horseshoe Curve is about 15 minutes away. If we need a place to stay in the future, we will return.

Very clean and quiet and nice places to stay

Stayed for an extended weekend, I was in one of the renovated rooms, was clean and the bed was comfortable, very quiet. Worth it for the money

Nice quiet place!! Wonderful staff, clean rooms. We even locked ourselves out an had to wake up the worker an have him let us in!! Amazing place

The front desk staff was extremely accommodating around our unique schedule due to a wedding venue. The facility is in need of updating, but the bathroom was clean, water pressure excellent. Room did have a slight odor to it, carpet had some stains. Overall it suited our needs for just a quick overnight stay.

They are currently renovating and it does need a lot of work but they had cleaned the room well, the shower was hot and the bed was very comfortable. I had an excellent night’s sleep and felt clean and refreshed in the morning. For less than $70 what more can you ask for? It’s not the Ritz but either was the price.

I was told there were no king bed rooms available. I reserved my king room weeks prior to my scheduled stay. I was given a 2 bed Full/Queen room instead. The customer that was immediately behind me checking in was given a king bed room. I made my reservation before that customer did. I know this to be true as I'm then one that directed that customer to where we re staying and what room to get after my reservations were already made. The room I did have smelled bad, had no smoke detector, and there was long black hairs all over the walls of the shower and in the drain.

Our stay was so, so at best. Essentially, we had a bed & shower for comfort. The wifi was supposedly down, though that may hae Ve had more to do with non payment. The tv was nearly unwatchable with streaks on the screen from bad connection. Needless to say, we won't be staying there anytime soon.

Bathtub wouldn't drain so couldn't shower and TV was fuzzy.

It's fine for the price. Very no frills, and don't trust to get much on the TV, but if all you need is a place to crash for a day or two, it works.

I went in January of 2025. It was very cold and apparently the doors and keys were not working as they were frozen due to the coldness. They gave me a key to one room and it did not work. They said maintenance changed door locks so they programmed the key again from a different room for original room I was given and it still did not work. Finally, after saying I wanted my money back and I did not want to stay there they told me 7-10 business days to get a refund and gave me a different room that did work but it took me 2 times to push the door open. Afterwards it worked well. I was only there 1 night as it was just a stop for me. I did not use the shower or tub so I can’t comment on that. The sink was good with warm running water. The tv was analog so it was very fuzzy. I had to use my phone for movies. The microwave worked fine. The refrigerator felt too warm and I did not know which way to put the dial so I just used the freezer. Then defrosted my food in the microwave. The bed was ok. I slept but not overly great of course I have been to other hotels and some are equal and some are more comfortable. That’s hit or miss. The room was comfortable it had heat but it was automatic so when it went low it got cold quickly and the heat kept going on and off as it adjusted. I personally would only stay there again unless you want a cheap overnight stay. Take an extra blanket if you go in the winter months.

The TV reception sucked.

The room was okay. Under construction though. The curtains on the windows didn’t close well and the shower curtains were too high so water went on the floor. Once the construction is complete it will be very nice. Wi-Fi wouldn’t work either. Tommy at the front desk was great. He had a great attitude and willing to help with anything.

Fraudulent Motel! Do not book this accommodation if you don’t want to risk to be charged twice. After having paid for a room at this Motel already during the online booking, I was charged more or less the same amount when I arrived at the property. I was asked for my credit card for purely formal reasons and didn't realize the scam until the next day. Unfortunately this website didn't really help me with this obvious fraud. To make it short: Avoid this place! You will find – even for little money – a better and above all more honest accommodation than this.

Reserved 1 room, 2 beds, 2 people. Paid with paypal through expedia. Atrived to be told no double bed room available. Now i have to figure out how to get my money back.

the front desk worker was on point great attitude and very nice.

There was no one available at the front desk and no one was answering the phone calls so we couldn’t check-in and we had to leave the property without even checking-in in the middle of the night. It was a terrible experience. We never saw a hotel without a front desk person. I would advise no one should book this hotel for their trips.

I paid for my room on Expedia and they had changed the credit card info on me when I wanted to check-in (Weird as this never happened before with Expedia). Staff asked for my credit card for information purpose only then he charged me the second time. I was furious obviously but the manager came around and helped. She cancelled the transaction and actually paid for the room after 1 hour wait since Expedia never sent them the money I paid initially. Next day, Expedia sorted it and paid her back. Overall, the staff were friendly, room was ok but smellsd of smoke.

They did not have my king bed. TV was terrible. WiFi sucked and they lied saying pet friendly and the receptionist kept my 50 that I had to put down. Spend the extra5 and go elsewhere

The staff was very nice. The front desk manager, Tommy, was very accomodating. We arrived late after the Penn State vs Oregon football game and he waited for our arrival which was after checking in time. Joanna, our housekeeper, was friendly. Our room was not renovated at this time. The tv was very good and we appreciated the refrigerator with freezer for our perishable food. One negative that we experienced was that our toilet did not efficiently flush. We only stayed one night, so this was not a major issued with us. We reported the deficiency so that it can be addressed appropriately. We slept comfortably. we felt that this property was a great value for the price. We will stay in this property in the future. The owner is in the process of renovating the property and will improve the antiquated look of the rooms. We thought that the room was very clean and was smoke free which were important features for us.

When I showed up at 10:15 pm, the Horseshoe Curve Lodge was closed. I rang the buzzer and knocked on the glass door with no answer. They should be taken off hotels.com.

Booked at 10:30 at night and showes up and lobby doors were locked and when told the next day the booking was cancelled they refused a transfer date or refund management ignored requests from hotels.com

This was a fine place. Cheap, and old but as a midpoint in our trip it was a clean bed at an inexpensive price. The bathroom was particularly dated, but it worked. In sum, it was everything I needed for the price. Would stay here again.

Close to highway, clean, convenient.

First, this property is undergoing a renaissance from a corporate property to private ownership so there are some rough edges. That said, my room was clean, no odors, well stocked, the beds were awesome and each had 3 pillows. The property is along a main road yet it's quiet. I had a slight snag at check-in because Expedia cancelled my reservation but the young lady at the front desk took it in stride and had everything sorted out in minutes. As i stated earlier, the property is under renovation but it was clean, comfortable and had an excellent flat screen TV on the wall. Lots of linens which were spotless and fresh. Water had good pressure and the hot water was hot. If you're looking for the Ritz-Carlton, this isn't it but what it is is an excellent value for the price. I used to stay down the road at another motel but they've taken advantage of the COVID situation and doubled their rates for a room that was already stretching its value. I hope the same does not occur here.

Well the room was ok. But the carpet was dirty. The bathtub was very sliprey when I took a shower.They didnt have breakfast in the morning. There was a lot of place's to eat all around the area. We do like the area out there and it was a very good location.
