Fitzroy Private Rooms - 132 Nicholson Homestay

Great budget stay in a brilliant location. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable enough, and the service was friendly. I didn’t find the noise an issue and the other guests were respectful. Simple, welcoming and with more soul than a standard hotel. I also had an interesting chat with another guest about the history of the place.

It was ok but by no means the quality I would have expected. The room was cold and I had to ask for a heater. The first 2 were broken so they gave me their personal heater. That worked well. It was loud there. The piano they played was extra loud, the divide between the rooms was thin so I could hear everything from the room next to me and the people outside my window were loud. The bed rolled around easily so I had to be careful not to bump it much when getting into it. The bed itself was mostly comfortable. It only had a blanket with only a fitted sheet. I had to ask for a second blanket because it was so cold. The staff initially took us to the wrong room which meant they were invading someone else's privacy when they finally got their door open to let us in. The bathrooms were shared but well maintained. There was also a shared kitchen and main room that were ok. It's not really a place I felt comfortable in but it worked out ok for the night.

The location is great and the place is friendly and clean. Of course no 5-star hotel, but pleasant.

Friendly atmosphere, clean rooms and helpful staff. Needless to say - it is no luxury place.
