The properly was maintained very well and room service was excellent. The buffet breakfast was spacious with lots of various breads, yogurt, freshly cooked omelets to order, pancakes, waffles, pastries, and local hot traditional food. Rooms were a bit small and were not sound proof, but overall nicely decorated with a small fridge and safe. The resort has rooms on the beach and across the street next to a large pool. Nice pools on either side of the property. They even have staff stopping traffic to help guest cross the street. Only a few minutes from town, restaurants nearby and shopping. Overall excellent place to stay.

Overall my day was nice. There was a wedding at 7 AM right outside the room with loud music and people talking early on a Friday morning. There was a marathon on Saturday morning, which had very loud music, fireworks and noise starting at 3 AM. The pools, the restaurants, and the grounds were beautiful. And the breakfast was included and amazing every day! I would check to see if there are events or weddings going on during your stay so that you get sleep and are not woke up early in the morning. It’s hard to pay for vacation and not get to sleep and relax in the mornings.

We had a nice time at the property. For the most part it was a very nice experience. The only drawbacks were there was no wifi/internet for the three days we were there. The front desk staff informed us it was out and they were working on it but it never came back. These things happen however, if you market wifi/internet as one of the reasons to book at this hotel and you can't provide it, the rate should be adjusted to compensate and that was never offered. the only other issues were the at the adult pool was not staffed at all at any time of the day or night, the jacuzzi is not heated so unusable, and the room could be cleaner. those are the negatives but the property is actually quite nice. The service was excellent and the breakfast buffet was really excellent! the sunsets from this hotel were incredible.

Hotel staff were very efficient and helpful, the site has ocean view with 2 pools and across street rooms on hill with 2 beautiful pools , one with fountains and bar and plenty of room for sun bathers as well as shade.

The gym Smith Bar weight machine needed to be fixed. We told the concierge that the left side holding the weights needed to be fixed. Five days later nothing happened. These are new machines. Someone should have looked into this. The night-time concierge was sitting watching his phone in the back corner. When we approached him to ask something, he said, "come here", as opposed to greeting us and moving in our direction. This was quite strange and very different from any concierge I have ever met. On two occasions, the sushi chef with the black elongeted hat, next to El Pelicano was listening/watching music or videos with sound that obstructed the good restaurant choice of music. Is this in need of better management. This needs attention. The parking lot takes more cars in the back. In the back, there should be a second stair entrance with cameras and bracelet entrance. Make it nice. The hotel bracelets should not have size adjustment. The keep coming off. A lot of potential for losing them. Instead, they should be different sizes for different wrists. I write this because this hotel has a lot of potential. It looks great and it's in a great area. Most of the employees are very polite and helpful and I would like to go again.

We liked all the areas of the resort, on both sides of the street with all the pools and the adult quiet pool. We tried most of restaurants, which were reasonably priced and easy pay with the resort bracelets. The beach is nice but not easy for swimming. The beach chairs are not on the beach, they are on the grass in from of the beach and around the pools. The breakfast is wonderful and has lots of options for everyone. The staff was wonderful. We liked our room except for the room control display and the AC light display that impacted the room darkness. We we able to cover to make the room darker but would recommend using sleep mask if you like to sleep in a dark room. Overall, I would certainly return to Tamarindo Diria Beach Resort, which is on the beach compared to other resort we considering.

The property is well maintained and the staff is amazing but one policy was not service friendly. Pool towels are only available at the front desk by trading a ticket with them as a deposit. If you are staying by, or just using the pools away from the front desk, it is very inconvenient and unnecessary. Make the trade for pool towels available at the pools. Both pools have employees there anyway!

The property is very old and the Family section has rooms that smell like sewers. Our family had 3 rooms and all of them smelled bad. The Tropicana rooms are more decent and less noisy but the rooms are smaller and the price is higher. Breakfast areas are nice, food was average. The pool area and the gardens are well maintained and beautiful everywhere.

Property is beautiful. Upon check in, the room they gave us had dirt scattered on one of the beds, so they kindly moved us to a garden view room. Upon entry here I noticed a very strong fumigation odor but assumed whatever insect problem had been addressed. I was wrong. I woke up at 3 am to the sounds of large insects scurrying around the floor. Grandma traveling with me got rid of several as I called the front desk and explained that this was unacceptable as we had a long drive to monteverde ahead of us. The manager for the night shift responded by saying that I better be prapared for more bugs there and struggled to find us another room in the middle of the night with significant urging. We were moved now a third time and so far no more large bugs in the room that we can see.

Our room was as far as you could be from the dining, front desk, available parking, beach etc. it was not made clear we would be across a busy street from the beach so this made it difficult to get back to the room or pop down to the beach. There were no beach chairs rather chairs on a grass area with nearly zero beach view so watching kids in the water was not going to happen. You had to pay pushy locals if you wanted to sit on the beach. The room was dirty and even worse sheet they “cleaned” our room the sheets were the same. The shower nearly gave my cold 3rd degree burns as there was no middle temp. It was freezing cold or scolding hot. Would probably not recommend or return.

I enjoyed the 3 days I stayed here but some of the female staff were a bit rude and passive aggressive.I am specifically talking about the women in the dinning area at breakfast .The property was clean and the breakfast was great.its in a convenient location right in the heart of Tamarindo .My room was a bit dated but overall I think it was great.

My husband and I stayed in an Ocean View Room, 2nd floor, in the building closest to Brisa Mar. We were disappointed this was considered 'ocean view' as we could barely see the ocean through the trees. The room was desperately in need of a remodel: shower drain was slow/clogged and the water overflowed to floor outside the shower; knob on closet door fell off and sat on dresser for 3 days before it was fixed; dresser under TV, left side, had no shelves so very little space to put clothes after unpacking; many areas of room re-painted to hide defects and paint was so thick and very sloppy.

This hotel is the perfect location, right on a beautiful beach. Also I love that it is close to many shops and restaurants. But our room was in the older wing of the hotel. The room was just too cramped for 3 of us. There is not enough room to open all the suitcases. There are 2 double beds so potentially there could be 4 people in the room and we only had 3 but felt we had to crawl over each other to move around. The toilet is so close to the tp roll that it kept falling on the floor. The bathroom itself is tiny. The room had a lovely ocean view but that meant it also got the noise from the bar and nearby restaurant. There is no bedside reading light, no bedside tables on each side of the beds ( there is not much room for that tho it's needed) ; no bottled water for guests; no mini bar in room; The room would be better with only one double bed. Not much in " extra" niceties for guests. We rented a boogie board for $20. But if we rented it through this hotel ( to use a credit card) they charge $5 more plus 13% tax! The corporate greed is disappointing. To keep this a favorite hotel I hope they take some tips from other popular resorts.

Wifi did not work in the rooms and consistently went out. Service was okay but I had called the front desk and asked for our room to be cleaned before leaving mid morning for an excursion and when I came back at the end of the evening they hadn't sent anyone. There was also continuous problems with the tv.

Service was okay but I had called the front desk and asked for our room to be cleaned before leaving mid morning for an excursion and when I came back at the end of the evening they hadn't sent anyone. There was also continuous problems with the tv.

Wonderful location!! Right on the beach and right in the heart of Tamarindo. This resort has great pools, a great restaurant, easy and safe parking and it’s close to shopping and restaurants in Tamarindo. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. We had the ocean view room which has spectacular sunsets! The only negative is the noise from the street. The noise is all day and it does make it difficult to sleep.

We loved our stay at this hotel. The service was incredible! They also prepared a little cake for my daughter's birthday. The cleaning lady took time to decorate the room twice. Pools are also very clean. Location is great!

Overall very pleased with my stay at the hotel. Great location right on the beach. The staff was great especially the folks at the tour desk. Have to give extra praise to Norby who works at the tours desk in the reception area. He was always happy and smiling coming over to say hello. Truly embodies the Pura Vida vibe of Costa Rica. The property is nice and always felt safe. Only minor complaints I have are the gym equipment is a little dated and prior to arriving I contacted the hotel 4 times via Expedia app, through email and called and left a voicemail and did not get a single response. I just had a few questions and was trying to book some excursions. Besides those minor complaints we enjoyed the hotel and would stay again and recommend to others.

Our 4th trip to CR. This is a beautiful country filled with warm, gracious, kind people. And this is the worst hotel experience I have had since that hell hole in Abilene TX. Pros: Undeniably the best location in town. For the $$ it felt a little overpriced, but ok. Con: Only 1 con and it's a doozy: EMPLOYEES. I had 4 different experiences of employees being rude and the only explanation I can grasp is bad company culture cause stuff like this starts at the top. Strike1: We arrived early @1pm, the man firmly repeated to me "CHECK IN IS 3PM" like he was angry with me. Ok. But then I heard his coworker say to him in Spanish 'maybe we could put her in...' he cut her off and said 'we're not doing that she can WAIT' very rudely. He was so mean to her! BTW I speak Spanish. But I don't look like I would. I said nothing. Strike2: At dinner reading the menu in English it said 'CAS dressing' for the salad. Same in Spanish. Asked waitress in Spanish 'what is Cas' she said 'you have to read the English side it means HOUSE' like I'm an idiot. In Spanish I replied 'no ha traducido correctamente' she said 'OH you want to practice your Spanish' condescendingly. I said nothing more. Strike 3 At breakfast buffet sipping my coffee. 9:55am buffet ready to close. I'm staring at waffles I won't eat when waffle lady starts shooing me away. Me: I don't want anything Her: GO. AWAY. The resort is in a great location right on the beach and the pools were definitely a highlight. The rooms were basic kinda small, nothing particularly memorable. Unfortunately, our overall experience was affected by how we were treated by some of the staff. As Latino guests, we couldn’t help but notice that white American and European visitors were often prioritized. At the main restaurant, two young waitresses repeatedly ignored us and seemed visibly annoyed whenever we asked for anything. It left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. The food was also a letdown, bland and lacking any real flavor. But considering who the resort caters to, it sadly makes sense. The town itself feels heavily colonized. Much of the Costa Rican culture, cuisine, and character has been stripped away and replaced with something more generic and geared toward a foreign unflavored palate. It feels like the uniqueness of the place was taken and turned into a bland, mass market vacation spot. That said, we did find incredible food and hospitality in local sodas (small, family run restaurants). They served authentic, flavorful dishes that were a true highlight of our trip. The resort has so much potential thanks to its location and natural beauty, we just hope it works on improving its service and reconnecting with the culture that makes Costa Rica so special, but highly doubt it.

Overall, we had a good experience and really want to give this property 5/5 stars but can’t ignore some of the negative incidents causing us to only give it 4/5 stars! Staff is mostly friendly/helpful. Pros: The location is right on the beach. The beach and sand are lovely and the sunsets are even better! The breakfast was fresh and delicious with open air seating by the beach. Cons:00 Front desk staff during our check-in needs to be retrained in customer service due to how he handled our situation . He misled us to think that our rooms were in a better location only to find out that the entrance to our rooms faced the street and it was very noisy and loud from all of the honking/truck engines. We had to go back to the lobby to request different rooms and they weren’t next to one another (the hotel does not have connecting rooms in the main bldg). Sergio was very condescending and just didn’t seem empathetiabout changing rooms- even seemed Reluctant to do so but eventually did after pressing the issue. As far as cleanliness, one of our rooms had dirty sheets in the bed and the bathroom smelled terrible due to poor air circulation. Lastly, construction took place right next to our room and they left lights on, dirty floors, and open doors all night. On our last day, during the peaceful breakfast area, someone decided to perform cement grinding making a very loud noise for about 20-30 minutes! This could have waited until after the busy breakfast service ends.

Amazing breakfast! Difficult to leave the beach area once you settle into a comfy chair with an Imperial or Pina Colada. Be sure to spend time at the pool area across the road for more drinks and Howler monkeys.

The property is located in the heart of Tamarindo, on one of the best stretches of Tamarindo beach. It has 4-5 restaurants attached to it, including Italian, a steak house, a fish place, a sushi place...and the most amazing ice cream. The rooms are clean, our ac was a bit noisy but otherwise was doing its job. The pools are clean and the breakfast buffet features tasty fruits, freshly made omelets, waffles and what not. The activities desk is open until 10pm and is very accommodating. Their prices are very reasonable, no need to hunt for deals elsewhere. We had a great time!

Overall, I highly recommend this place if you are coming to Tamarindo and want a very comfortable stay right on the beach. This hotel has carefully and thoughtfully implemented various procedures for ease of guests and tidiness of the property. For example, each guest receives a wristband which not only is waterproof, but also serves as a room key. No need to worry about keeping track of a room key when you go to the pool or beach. Secondly, they have a great foot wash station and outdoor shower right at the property entrance to the beach which is convenient to clean up all the sand from the beach when you get back to the hotel. The pools are nice and cleaned daily. There is lots of wildlife even at the pools. We saw some large iguanas at the main pool, as well as an armadillo in the bushes next to the pool. Breakfast buffet was very extensive and delicious. If you need to leave very early morning, they staff will prepare a to-go box of breakfast for you with fruits, a sandwich, muffin and a drink. It was so nice when we had to leave at 4:30am for the airport and we were able to bring the packed breakfast with us. The rooms are very comfortable, the A/C works very well. the sunset ocean view from the balcony is fantastic! If your room faces the main road, you will hear car noises at night.
