The staff was incredibly nice. Especially in the restaurant. However, the pool is very small and very crowded. The hotel has a contract with Virgin Airlines so all the crew goes down to the pool and basically takes all the chairs. There is nowhere to layout or enjoy the pool. They also sell pool memberships to the public, which seems strange to me since their pool is so small. The room itself is small and there were stains on the wall and the room was just overall tired. The location is great, and the staff was very friendly.

I liked the room as all marriot hotels. We stayed in a double queen bed. The problem was the elevators. They have 3 but only 1 was working. Actually my husband got stock in one of them and after some minutes the elevator went to level B ( second floor down on the parking lot) and there was no stairs to get to the lobby. So, he had to walk through the garbage spot to get out to the st and come back tolobby. Since it’s is located behind the Convention center a lot of big groups participating in American got talent stayed there which made the wait for elevator too long. We were on second floor so, we stopped using the elevator and going by the stairs, which by the way were very nasty.

The rooms were adequate, the pool was small, but warm and clean, the bar is tiny, but the cocktails and wine were good, parking costs $30 per day, and I don't think I ever saw anyone in the restaurant. It doesn't give that upscale "Bonvoy" feeling that most Marriots have, but it was a nice stay and it worked out great for our family.

Stylish hotel with nice artsy touches. Excellent bar with very good Mexican food and an experienced and friendly bartender. Hotel staff were eager to help and friendly. Excellent location close to Old. Pasadena and freeway entrances. Lovely neighborhood. Clean and interesting lobby showing old silent films. The hotel definitely appeals to a hip artsy but not snooty clientele. Very fun place to be on a weekend night. The hotel has been refurbished in a sleek, modern style, but sometimes the room seemed dark with only a couple of lighting fixtures. At the time of our visit, the television system was unusable much of the time due to loss of signal clarity. Much like the way DIRECTV behaves in a windstorm. Also, at the time of our visit, the elevators were not working properly much of the time. Two of the three elevators Were either shut down or having problems. We opened the doors for one of the elevators and a couple came out, who had been trapped in it for over an hour. When we talked to Staff about this, they said the elevators had problems all the time. So take the stairs. So that’s the good and the bad of it.

I was there overnight; the hotel is close to family. It's very comfortable. The room was large and well-equipped. Everything seemed reasonably new or recently refurbished. The gym is very well equipped. The music at the pool is a bit annoying if you're close to it, but it's not the end of the world (and does not play late at night, at least). The wifi works well enough. The parking is a bit pricey, but is quite convenient. It's walkable to a number of nearby restaurants and stores. All in all, I think it's a reasonable option in Pasadena.

This was our first time staying in Pasadena and we appreciated the proximity to everything from the hotel. The main areas are fun and full of cool design elements. The pool was very nice as well as the 24/7 fitness area. Our room was immaculate, quiet, with a nice expansive view of the mountains. The exorbitant $30 a day parking charge and no breakfast included though are very surprising for a hotel of this quality. It drove up the overall cost of our short 3 day stay significantly, which leaves me not loving our experience here.

Check in was fast and it is a convenient location if you need to be at the Pasadena Convention Center as it is next door, literally a sliding door away. The Hotel needs to focus more in cleanliness. Carpet needs cleaning, perhaps deep shampoo cleaning. Upon check in, pillow cases have make up stains on and q-tips left over in the shower. We also discovered a cockroach. I book this hotel for convenience, but there is definitely needs more improvement.

Overpriced - not a 4 star property Room reeked of mildew, bathtub dirty, peeling wallpaper, broken sliding door latch, and dingy carpet. The “premium” room faced a cement wall below the pool—dark and creepy. Tiny pool, not enough lounges. Charged nearly $700/night. My husband coughed all night from the mildew smell. We checked out early.

While the front desk staff was super kind and helpful, please BEWARE OF BLACK MOLD in the rooms! The hotel is run down and while they have put new decor in the lobby, there is black mold behind the wallpaper in the rooms, especially near windows. I would expect better from a Marriott property. Please invest money into actually remediating this hotel to safe levels.

Great overall stay. Walls are thin though and you can hear every hallway conversation and toilets being flushed from the room above. But the room and bathroom were all very clean and I appreciate it so much. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Sofa bed in suite was an absolutely uncomfortable to sleep on and needs a pillow top insert. Carpet was dirty and old. Coffee stains all over the coffee table. Curtains were musty. Had to call guest services three times and when someone finally answered, I asked politely for 2 extra pillows, a couple towels and a blanket and got a response of, "Got it." For $540; will definitely go somewhere else next time.

We loved our stay at Hotel Dena. The hotel is just beautiful - so well-designed, comfortable, sleek, and sophisticated - and they obviously run a tight ship: our room was cleaned and re-stocked daily and the grounds are maintained perfectly. The location is super convenient to everything Pasadena has to offer and it’s close to the area freeways for when you have to travel outside of the area. Truly, our stay was better than we could have hoped for and this will definitely be our go-to hotel for future LA visits!

Arrived to pubic hair on the door frame of the bathroom. Cobwebs over the bed. Stains in the carpet and sofa. “Balcony” room purchased turned out to be ground level room with a window bolted shut. Outdoor area on the other side of wi Dow houses ladders and other equipment. Curtains very difficult to maneuver and did not close all the way. Housekeeping service once during our 4 night stay. Dirty dishes and service items littering hallway outside of our room for days at a time. Overall, a real miss.

Hotel Dena is perfectly located to explore old Pasadena. A terrific spot. Our room seemed to have very thin walls as we could hear conversations, arguments, etc. during the evening/night as we tried to sleep. I'd still stay there again....

Property and the room were clean, comfortable bed, spacious room. Bathroom door opened awkwardly into the bedroom or blocking the walkway (instead of opening toward the front door to the room), so it was dangerous trying to walk over at night in the dark. Also no fan in the bathrooms so humidity and odors hung around. But these are minor. Everything else was fantastic. Location was great, right next to the convention center, plenty of parking and easy access. Didn't eat breakfast.

Good location however the dining staff is limited and service is both lengthy and spotty. If you sit outside you may never have your order taken or receive your food. Breakfast package is odd as it includes juice or coffee but there is free coffee just outside the dining room which is not always filled. Bathrooms are very small and cramped for 2 people. Not really what I expected! The hotel is basically connected to the Pasadena convention center and that’s how it feels. Staying in the middle of a convention center. I booked a Loft Kong Size room with a Patio. When I arrive to check in, they’re overbooked in this category and say they’d upgrade me. The room I got was overlooking the roof of the parking lot and I did not sleep all night because of the sound of the HVAC system that is in front of the window. Next morning I switch to the original room I booked which now apparently is available. The patio is ok , but feels cold as they’re no plants and again the room facing now the back of the ice Stadium. I great chain, could make this hotel amazing but as managed right now, I would not stay here again.

The downside, would be customer service, the lobby is not kept clean, the wifi went out for almost 12 hrs without any automated notification on the room phones and obscene early checkin charge of $50 if you arrive 3 hrs early for the 4pm checkin.

I was not happy with the value of this property. The price is high and the hotel bills itself as a 4 star property, but the attention to detail lacks. The room was mediocre; there was no space to place anything, such as toiletries, in the bathroom; there isn't appropriate furniture for luggage; the first room we had was accessible and thus had massive space in the bathroom but had holes on the wall where a shelf had been removed and not patched and nowhere to set down anything, as even the blow dryer took up the toilet tank spot. The lobby felt like a mid grade bar; the bar was small, loud, and underwhelming; the check-in process was painful because there was an entire group that was checking in before us, but they were not all present until they were individually ready to come to the counter, at which point they walked around us and met up with the teammate who was already at the counter. In other words, it looked like we were 3rd in line, when in effect we were about 15th. The 1 employee at the counter never looked up at us or addressed the need to check in this entire group first. Furthermore, she chatted up each person in the group asking what they did for a living and also trying to upsell them on Marriot membership which took more time and even more if they accepted and she processed the new membership. Finally, I paid for the breakfast to be included but nowhere did this mention that it was only for eggs and potatoes - no substitutions.

I have no review of this property because we didn’t stay here. I called the day before check-in to ask about early check-in as we were going to AC/DC. The person I spoke to told me that they weren’t sure if I could check-in early but that I would have no issue checking in after the concert as long as I arrived before 1am. I got a call during the concert from the front desk manager advising that the hotel had been oversold and there were no rooms left. We booked this room in December. He told me that we were being sent to another property that was about 5 miles away. It was not. We booked hotel Dena because it was 2.5 miles from the venue. The property we were sent to was in Silverlakes, 12 miles away, and a near 30 minute drive. Not a good experience

At check in, 3 staffers were chatting it up about personal plans while I waited for them to be done with the convo to check in. Hotel Dena has a $30/night parking garage that costs $15 if you don't stay at the hotel and the parking garage doesn't check. So why does the hotel charge $30? We didn't have a trash can in our room so I had to throw my bathroom trash on the floor in a corner. It was quiet on the 4th floor. I would likely not stay there again.

I had a mostly great stay at the Hotel Dena - the front desk staff was amazing and very helpful. One young man helped me get a room with a better view, which I truly appreciated. They were prompt and polite when we had a need. The breakfast/lunch dining area needs a host. I was ignored for about 5 minutes & actually went to the front desk to see if I had missed breakfast. The older gentleman waiter argued with me that I had not been waiting that long, so my first morning there was not a positive experience. The next morning was better and I was not waiting as long. It just seemed understaffed. Housekeeping was great, the bar staff was great. Overall very positive besides the one morning/breakfast issue. Clean and great location.

I asked someone who was born and raised in Pasadena, it felt so good staying in this hotel. After years of being away, I loved how convenient this hotel was placed. Walkable to restaurants and shopping. And the on-site amenities were absolutely amazing! Not to mention the staff from the check-in staff to the housekeepers, everyone was absolutely amazing!!

We were staying in Pasadena for the weekend to attend the Oasis gig at the Rose Bowl. Hotel is very modern and clean and in an excellent location to explore Old Padadena and to get to the Rose bowl shuttle. Nice pool and bar area. Staff were helpful and friendly. Would stay here again for sure.

We enjoyed our stay at the boutique Hotel Dena, just 10-minute walk to Old Pasadena. The rooms are comfortable, Internet good, and there is a fitness center and small but nice hotel pool with comfortable lounge chairs. Restaurants and a fun bar area are on-site although you may want to try the many good local restaurants within walking distance. The friendly front desk staff are very helpful with ideas to better enjoy your stay.
