Great location. Clean hotel. Very friendly staff. The restaurant inside the hotel also serves up a tasty menu. Cons: overnight parking is expensive, and the pool stays packed like sardines because of the size.

If you are looking for a great hotel in the heart of 6th street look no further. This hotel has it all. Start your day with a great cup up coffee in the coffee bar. Then get a workout in with their awesome gym. Later on sit by the pool and enjoy a cocktail. The lobby bar is fantastic. The restaurant has great food. This is as close to a resort style Hotel you will get in Austin.

The best of the Thompson experience at a fraction of the cost! Our stay at the Tommie was fun and highlighted by access to all the Amenities available for the Thompson, the sister hotel on property. Most notably the excellent service and attention to detail by the pool staff and servers! Y’all made our little stay a truly memorable experience! We’ll be back!

The entire staff were absolutely amazing! Very nice, very accommodating, just super friendly. The only downgrade of this property (for me), was that they didn’t have a server walking around the pool area. So we had to continually put our clothes back on, go into the bar, order to go, then wait and go back after 10-15min to pick our food/drinks up.

Small but efficient room, had everything we needed for our stay. Perfect spot to come back to after full days in Austin. Room was comfortable, and despite being near busy streets, noise wasn’t an issue. Pool was small (and crowded on weekend days), so we did not get to enjoy it. You also had to walk through a restaurant to get out to the pool, which seems uncomfortable to do in swimsuits.

Room was clean, staff was outstanding. The mexican restaurant and diner were fantastic. Only issue I had was the arrangement of the room wasn't great, specifically the bathroom/sink/mirror area was very strange, the shower leaked onto the floor, and the refrigerator didnt seem to function.

My shower had a leak so when I got out, the floor was flooded. The bed was hard and the pillows were too soft. Not the most comfortable 3 nights I've spent in a hotel. The location is phenomenal though

The location, hotel and amenities are great. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The coffee shop downstairs is tasty! The only negative thing is the size of the rooms. We travelled as a couple but the room is for a single person really. One side of the bed is against the wall- not even a nighstand. If you have large bags, or staying for a longer period, I wouldn’t recommend staying in Tommie rooms.

The staff were great! The parking situation was both confusing with no signage indicating the valet parking was for hotel and the price was insane. The room was tiny and not at all good for two people. No desk (other than edge of sink) and the mirror and lighting set up was not useful for grooming (e.g., shaving). Lack of usable storage, toilet, and Shower setup not good for two people in a room, and the two towels were like sandpaper.

the room is super super tiny. there is really no space for anything. there is no parking garage and valet only. valet is very pricey. i parked my rental car for 2 days and it almost the same amount as the security deposit. the room does not have a mini fridge. the mini bar thing is designed to store cold things but not to store anything that needs refrigeration. the fact you have to go down to the front desk to checkout is very annoying. i don’t remember the last time i did that until today. the overall experience is below average. i will not stay here again

The Tommie Austin is a cute hotel located in downtown Austin near 6th Street. I was excited about my stay based on the online pictures. My excited ended quickly. Cute online photos are not enough for me to stay again! The hotel rooms are very small and the bathroom arrangement is awful! The toilet is located in the shower! Yes… in the shower! Just terrible! Your feet get wet every time you use the restroom after someone finishes showering. The lighting in the room is not functional/ practical. Only one switch for the one light in the room. So if you need to use the toilet during the night and need light, you light up the entire room. The entire room design is simply not practical making your stay uncomfortable. Austin is not New York City! Why the cramped room? I will not be back!

Nice, well equipped and decorated hotel, right in the middle of Austin night life. Great rooftop. We enjoyed our stay, but if you are looking for quiet night's sleep, keep looking. They do provide white noise machine.

The actual hotel is very nice and clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The gym was also nice and accomodating. However the actual hotel room was quite dissapointing. There was no mini fridge, instead there was a beverage "cooler" which required ice to cool drinks. There was no ice machine, so you had to order ice from the front desk. The shower and toilet being in the same "room" was also very inconvenient. The shower door was outside the doorframe, so water would leak out when you showered. Overall the bathroom was disappointing for a hotel thats supposed to be high-end.

There isn’t enough space to share how happy I was with my stay at this hotel. I was in Austin for a work trip and stayed the weekend for pleasure. And Tommie gave me that and more. As soon as I walked thru the doors; I knew I made a good choice in booking. The front desk staff were fantastic. Smooth checking process and was greeted every time I walked thru the lobby - even if they were busy checking in or out other guests. No; let me start from the beginning - the valet were attentive. Helpful. Carried my bags, opened the door EVERY time I entered the building. My room was on the smaller side (but they definitely are letting you know this when booking) but super comfortable for just me. The hotel itself is gorgeous with multiple spaces to chill, eat or drink. The pool was always bumping! I do wish they had a DJ there during my stay as that really would have kicked it up a notch but the music they played was great none-the-less. Judgement free zone with plenty of staff to help with whatever you need. Housekeeping, room service, lunch at the pool and drinks by the pool - all great! Location and hotel amenities are amazing. The in house dining and the pool are top notch and so worth the stay. But, you should now that the rooms are TINY. And I suggest that they talk to housekeeping about the tapping on doors in the morning. I could sleep through 6th street noise easily but the housekeeper incessantly tapping on doors in the morning with her key card was next level and really unpleasant.

The whole experience here was ruined by a hostile security guard. On the main level they have a coffee shop off of the lobby area. The lights were on and the fireplaces running, along with lots of fun card and board games to play! We thought it would be the perfect way to spend date night. I went upstairs to the bar to redeem our complementary drinks to accompany our time spent playing cards. When I returned downstairs my fiance was more upset than I've ever seen him before. While I was away, a security guard came up to him to "ask him if he was ok" because "they don't like people relaxing in the lobby." My fiance replied "do I not look OK, do I look like I need an ambulance?" And the security guard replied back "do you need me to call 9/11 for you? I'll call 9/11 right now" getting increasingly aggressive and getting in my fiances face. Clearly seeking to escalate a situation for no reason. When we brought it up to the front desk, they said the room was closed. Hmm, when the lights are on and fireplaces are running, door is wide open, not sure that indicates that it's closed. And if that was the case, security can inidicate so respectfully. The only reason I could think that this security guard would treat him this way was because of his tattoos. This hotel needs to get a reality check and treat its guests with kindness and respect, not arrogance. The front desk offered to "talk to the security" but I really can't see there being any resolution from that. What a joke.

Worst experience with a hotel in our lives. The valet lost all our keys and now they are non responsive to our communication and the hotel manager isn't helping us either. They got us out of the hotel on a horrible note, and it's continued because we still don't have our house or car keys. So we can only use one car. Horrible customer service. A highway motel would've been better!

The staff was very nice and attentive to my needs. An upgrade option was available due to a room that I booked being unavailable. There was even a drink token given to use at the rooftop restaurant. The hotel and restaurant staff were all very nice and made my stay relaxing.

The only major drawback came when I arrived at the hotel in the evening (around 9:30 PM) finding the street leading to the hotel blocked off by police for pedestrians in the area to walk about downtown for partying purposes. Impromptu honeymoon when I flight was diverted to Austin from Dallas then delayed 5 hours. Staff was so friendly and helpful with recommendations. The property was overall nice, however we had a hard time getting the towels we needed. We asked for extra wash cloths and didn’t receive them the first night. The next day we asked again and instead of giving us the wash cloths, they took all of the wash cloths leaving us with none. We then asked for the third time before finally receiving them. My room was very clean and comfortable. The area was convenient, walking distance to 6th Street, or restaurants in the area. The sound at night from 6th Street isn’t bad, plus they provide you with earplugs to get a good night’s sleep. The pool is a bit small, but the lounging area was nice and the drinks were 10/10. The staff was super helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here while attending a convention at the convention center. It was very walkable, one block down a couple blocks over. So many fun spots nearby. Darwin’s piano bar on the corner of 6th, Antones across the street, a lot of spots on 6th street right behind the hotel. So much to do near hotel. The front desk was very friendly and helpful and housekeeping was always spot on. The gray market downstairs had great breakfast options to grab on your way out or take back to your room. I would definitely recommend and can’t wait to return.

this is a great spot. loved the pool and pool food/drink service. The martini bar was just lovely. Great food, drinks and music. The best Cesar salad I have ever had was in the Mexican food restaurant, Arriba Abajo, and their food was exceptional. You need to be really good friends to stay in the room together because of the open bathroom situation.

This hotel is one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed at. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Coffee bar was good. Arriba Abajo had a cool atmosphere and drinks were good. Plenty of places to walk to, scooters to rent to go further.

Room was clean, staff was outstanding. The mexican restaurant and diner were fantastic. Only issue I had was the arrangement of the room wasn't great, specifically the bathroom/sink/mirror area was very strange, the shower leaked onto the floor, and the refrigerator didnt seem to function.

The entire staff were absolutely amazing! Very nice, very accommodating, just super friendly. The only downgrade of this property (for me), was that they didn’t have a server walking around the pool area. So we had to continually put our clothes back on, go into the bar, order to go, then wait and go back after 10-15min to pick our food/drinks up.

The Tommie Coffee Bar was my favorite! Ellie made the absolute best coffee we had the entire trip and she was so sweet and kind! A treasure. I would go back just for one of her excellent coffees’! All staff was extremely helpful and informative. Gym amenities were excellent. I wish the pool had later hours, we never got back in time to make use of that feature.

Loved the facilities. Be prepared for a very small room. Barely a place to open your luggage. If not traveling with a spouse etc know that there is nowhere to change or even shower without being in full view. Doors are frosted and you can see each other at all times! Other than that, location was convenient, bar and restaurants were great and you cant beat tbe rate!

This was a great location. We enjoyed all of the friendly staff anf wonderful amenities. The breakfast was devine and the oool was always inviting and the perfect temperature with enough room for all guests to enjoy without being overcrowded. We will stay again. The only downfall was very small rooms and no balcony.
