Excellent location right across the train station and great restaurants. If you're getting the panorama room, I think they also call it the penthouse on the 6th floor, keep in mind that the elevator only goes up to the 5th floor in case you heavy luggage like I did.

Like the hotel and the staff. Very clean and good breakfast. The downside is that there is no parking and the neighborhood isn’t the best to say the least. If you travel by train, it’s very convenient because the station is right there.

Direkt neben Hbf. Mainz. Zimmer geräumig, mit Minibar und Kaffeemaschine, für Dreisternhotel eher aussergewöhnlich. Sehr freundlicher Empfang und Service. "Penthouse" Zimmer in der 6. Etage gebucht, es gab vom 5. in den 6. Stock keinen Aufzug. Um 05.45 schaltete sich das Klimagerät selbstständig ein, es wurde laut, kalt und zugig. Ich fand keinen Schalter, um die Klimaanlage auszuschalten. Reklamation an der Rezeption. Sofort bot die Rezeptionistin mir ein anderes Zimmer an, kam dann mit aufs Zimmer, wo sie das Klimagerät mit der Fernbedienung ausschaltete. Der Fehler wurde nicht gefunden, auch nach der 2. Nacht schaltete sich das Gerät um 05.45 Uhr ein, das ich aber dank Fernbedienung gleich wieder ausschalten konnte. Frühstücksbüffet klein aber fein. Es wurde immer wieder frisch aufgefüllt, sehr aufmerksame und freundliche Bedienung. Lärmbelästigung: bei geöffnetem Fenster erträglich, bei geschlossenem Fenster war es ruhig im Zimmer trotz Blick Richtung Bahnhofplatz.

Hammer is right across from the train station and and easy walk to the Rhein and Alt town. The breakfast is excellent but expensive. We loved the sauna. Dining options are everywhere nearby. The staff was really lovely and nice. Rooms are clean, well accommodated, just wish they had smart TVs. We'd stay again.

Das Frühstück ist nicht 18 € / Person wert, wenig Angebot, nur in Kleinstmengen, Wurst z.T. "optisch auffällig". Hotel Hammer-Main Hbf is located next to the train station. The hotel is very clean, conveniently located and offers all of the necessary amenities. We arrived on a particularly warm day. The Hotel has air conditioning in each room. Our room faced the sun and was very warm. Our room AC unit did not work. The windows did not open. It was several degrees hotter in our room than in the hallway. We reported this to the manager on duty. He offered us a one 25 cm fan and said that the hotel was fully booked. The fan did not help. We did not sleep well. When we checked out at 6:00 am, the new manager on duty seemed very surprised when we said our stay had not been good. He said no one had alerted him of the situation. This should have been "5 star stay" if staff communicated and properly maintained the room.

On plus side: location excellent for quick access to main railway station, and front desk guy was very friendly and helpful. On minus side, area is rough, room badly needed updating and it was not particularly clean. Good to have a small fridge (mini-bar type) and iron/ironing board was available on request. But overall, a disappointment and not recommended unless just for overnight to catch early train.

The front desk staff were nice and the check in went well. The room however did not seem very clean. We had 4 flies in the room and there was a strange smell. The bathroom floor was sticky with who knows what but we made sure not to walk in there with bare feet. The location was right across the street from the train station so there was a lot of people everywhere and some unsavory ones at that. I was surprised by the rating the hotel had after staying there. The breakfast was fair but they did not keep up with stocking the items.

Unsauberes Zimmer mit fremden Haaren im Bett, alte Artikel in der Minibar dafür aber nicht ein Trinkglas auf dem Zimmer, sondern nur ein Zahnputzbecher im Bad. Schade, bei meinem letzten Aufenthalt war es zumindest ok, wenn auch keine Empfehlung. Jetzt kann ich nur abraten.

The staff was extremely accommodating and kind. We loved that the hotel was centrally located. However, it was definitely loud at night with the windows open. You had to keep the windows open since the A/C units would never properly cool down the room. They would shut off after several hours only for the room to get warm again. It may not be a big deal to non Americans. For Americans, this may be an issue. Otherwise, the rooms were extremely nice.

The hotel is located across the street from the train station and there are busses, street cars and taxis all around. People are bustling about and the adjacent streets are very interesting for people watchers. One can walk in various directions and feel a part of the city, including the Gutenberg Museum and the very nice plaza near it with music and good food. The entrance to the hotel is so low key you could miss it. Inside is very nicely decorated - our room on the 6th floor was really nice - note that it faced the train station and the sounds of people outside were pretty loud but enjoyable for us. We liked looking down at the scene. Anyone wanting real quiet should request a room that did not face in that direction. The staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Very central hotel, friendly staff, very quiet room even though it was overlooking a main road. Room was slightly dated but functional. Although we booked a double room it was 2 single beds pushed together, which wasn't the most comfortable sleeping experience. Only discovered the minibar on the 2nd night as it was well hidden. No kettle or tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast would have been an extra €18 pp per day so we didn't bother with that.

We've stayed at Hotel Hammer several times... and we will keep going back! An easy train ride from Frankfurt Airport and the hotel is directly across the street from the train station. We get greeted warmly every visit and much of the staff now feels like family. The rooms are comfortable and very quiet with special windows to reduce the noise. Breakfast is very nice with a coffee machine so you can make your own latte or cappuccino!

A very convenient hotel near the transport hub and allowed us to walk to the river and see some of the sights. Allowed us then to go into the old part of the city the next day and visit a museum. Staff were very helpful and nice. Room was comfortable and v clean

Cold!! 11 degrees outside 11 degrees in the room! The heater were on maximum but not heating at all! We have a queen bed but two single blanket( not even duvet ) minibar had charge even water!! Evening receptionist was fine but next morning receptionist behaving rude! We had to show the room key for her to believe we are staying there!

We were stationed in Mainz with military in 1980's. This was a first trip back. Great to stay just across from main train station. Lots of memories. Good location to stay, highly recommended. Staff were friendly and went out of their was to help us get to where we wanted to go.

Great location. Very nice hotel. Some of the staff need a hospitality class as not very welcoming. One staff refused to give us some ice for our room and when we insisted he asked us how many cubes. He was not shy to show his exasperation with us and it made us feel very uncomfortable.

Nur beim checkin wurde gesagt ich habe ohne Frühstück gebucht was zu einer kleinen Diskussion führte. Aber in der Buchungsapp steht mit Frühstk.

Perfect location, just right across the plaza from the train station and yet we never heard any noise from the nearness. So handy as a perfect starting point no matter what direction our plans were taking us, easy walk to the Old Town area and the river front just beyond, maybe 15 & 20 min respectfully at a leisurely pace. Wouldn't even consider anywhere else, the staff was beyond kind and gracious, loved our stay.
