Very warm and friendly welcome by all staff with great service and excellent choice of drinks especially there own Plumb Gin. Yummy. Very relaxed about our slightly late arrival. We loved the Innovative and quirky decor throughout. Bed was so comfy and the complimentary port for a night cap,loved it. So nice that there was no TV. In the bedroom too. Complimentary breakfast delicious and plenty food, hot and cold drinks to start your day. Definitely would really recommend staying here. Thank you for making our stay so lovely.

Lovely atmospheric bar and restaurant with open fire. Food and service was excellent. Bathroom in bedroom lacked privacy and no TV.

Great food and choice of drinks. Room was lovely, although it needed a thinner quilt, as it was far too hot. A bit disappointed that breakfast was not served until 9.00 am, although they did offer me a take away hamper. This was a business trip so I could not hang around for breakfast. I would definitely stay again though.

Great place with loads of history and character. Nice host and staff. Lovely room but mind your head on the low beams. Left too early for breakfast - host prepared a nice breakfast hamper for us.

What an amazing pub/hotel, the room was the quirkiest that ive ever stayed in, great drinks, great food, great service, and the best breakfast ever. A perfect one night stopover on a long business trip.

Outstanding staff was the first positive impression followed by the quirky but stylish way the property is presented. The food quality was excellent and the ambiance was excellent. Whoever oversees the delivery has an appreciation of quality with so many small details accumulating to create a positive overall experience.

Very cute place with uniquely designed, quirky rooms. I loved it! I really appreciated all the thoughtful touches (fudge, cold milk, port, selection of teas and coffee). I needed to leave earlier than breakfast was served, so was provided with a breakfast hamper, which was absolutely wonderful! Very, very good service in the restaurant too.

A beautiful property with sparkling clean rooms and very friendly hosts. There are lovely enclosed gardens which were perfect for our wee spaniel.The perfect stop off point en route to Occitaine. We would very happily stay here again.

After a long and hectic day photographing for a Kent-based property developer, it was exactly what I needed to unwind and relax. The atmosphere was peaceful, the surroundings charming and everything was immaculately kept. What really stood out were the thoughtful little touches throughout my stay, which made it feel all the more special, it’s clear that a great deal of care and attention goes into making guests feel genuinely welcome. The breakfast was exceptional — the best I’ve had in a long time. Fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented, it was the ideal start to the day. I’ll definitely be returning and can highly recommend The Five Bells to anyone seeking a calm and comfortable retreat.

Gorgeous room, felt thoroughly spoilt with the extra treats provided with the room refreshments. Really got to relax in style. We also dines at the pub and had a delicious meal, all sourced from local produce. Will definitely return.

The pub itself was lovely, and in a really beautiful area with gorgeous views from our bedroom window. The decor in the room we stayed in was amazing - very unusual and quirky with some really nice features, especially the copper bath! The food we ordered at dinner time was delicious too. The reason I’ve only rated a 3 is because unfortunately the bed was extremely uncomfortable and only a double size. We realised as we were going to bed that the toilet had something wrong with the flush, so it sounded like it was continuously flushing throughout the nigh. This meant that neither my husband or myself slept very well at all. I did mention it to a member of staff as I thought it was important that they were made aware of the flush so that they could rectify it before someone else stayed there, but the lady I spoke to just said that they already knew about it! (I have also seen since that somebody else has left a similar review so it surprises me that both these issues haven’t been addressed.) There was some complimentary port and vodka and tomato juice which was a nice touch. (Although no milk in the room which was a shame as there was plenty of tea and coffee as well as a coffee maker.) One last thing to mention, there is a small door that can be used to go outside onto the balcony without having to go through the pub to go outside, but the door frame is extremely low so as I walked through it I whacked my head, just to be aware that you need to bend down!

Was a wonderful hidden Jem with amazing bar and restaurant. The room was lovely and the only challenge was taking a shower in a bath tub ha but it was big and copper gorgeous. Will be back again.

Beautiful room with a great deep bath. Staff were very welcoming and helpful and check in was extremely quick and easy. Plenty of parking in a quiet area with lovely views from the room. The only negative was the general noise from the bar area which is directly below the room

The Five Bells is a charming Inn in an idyllic setting. It lived up to all expectations and the exceptional facilities and staff made our two night stay very memorable. The breakfast included in the price was absolutely fantastic and so filling we didn’t need to eat anything for lunch! The room was beautifully quirky with an open fire at the foot of the bed and a large bath tub next to it. There were tea and coffee making facilities and also a small decanter of port and some local fudge to welcome us, on arrival. I would suggest, for longer stays, taking a few hangers for your clothes as there were only two available to use (although I’m sure if we’d asked, they would have provided us with some extras). The staff were wonderful and went above and beyond to make our stay special, especially Sonia who checked us in and gave us lots of ideas about how to plan our day. The room we had was over the bar area and so there was a little bit of noise but nothing excessive. If you wanted them, there were ear plugs provided but I found it added to the charm and made it feel very cosy. Altogether, a wonderful historic place to stay and I would not hesitate recommending The Five Bells Inn to family and friends.

We loved our stay at the Five Bells Inn. Beautiful rooms, great breakfast, cosy pub and lovely surrounding village & countyside. We will definitely stay again.

My wife and I spent the night with our dog and had an amazing time. Staff, pub, food and breakfast all amazing. Great walks near by and some great local wine. It was first class. Our only “small” observation was the bed in the Goulding was a little small and a bit squeaky. Beds are always a personal thing. All in all, well worth a stay…it’s lovely. (If it doesn t rain in July!)

Great hospitality and lovely decorated room. The food also was really good. The only thing that was a bummer was the check-in information. On Expedia and other booking sites it states: Sunday till 9pm. After booking we got a mail from the property that it’s 6pm. Rechecked on their website and it stated 7pm. Really unclear and no response to mails. After a call the helpful lady made arrangements to help us which was great. Could be a five star review if this gets sorted.

Only stayed one night before getting the early eurotunnel. We arrived quite late but all of the staff were so accommodating and friendly and we managed to get some lovely food despite the time. The room was beautiful and rustic only downside is that because we were leaving early we felt we had to be so so quiet as the rooms felt so intimate.s

Absolutely stunning place to stay - the rooms are gorgeous as is the inn, pub and restaurant. Staff are warm and welcoming, and the area is divinely quiet. Highly recommended, one of my favourite stays in a long long time.

Would have like a cooked breakfast served at 7.30am, but the hamper was beautiful and thoroughly enjoyed the contents. Staff were excellent
