Colonial Palms Motor Inn

The "curb appeal" is low but hides a little nugget of a hotel. The other side of the hotel has two beautiful and clean pools that are the perfect temperature. The staff was consistently kind and friendly. We were thrilled with our stay here.

Quiet, clean plenty of space in the rooms. Restaurant for breakfast had plenty of options and definitely recommend the eggs benny. Only draw back is not having designated parking for the rooms, and had to park on the street.

Great view and clean/tidy room. Great laundry but only one washer available.

Was told well everyone else seems to have it so can't help. No offer to check it out. Sliding door sticks and noisy. Grounds and pool were nice. Has potential

An older motel but still with some water views. Situated just a short 5min walk from town and not uphill. 2 pools which both looked nice although too cold to try at the time. Include breakfast is only very basic continental however other option available to purchase. Did not dine in the restaurant but menu looked okay. Room was spacious and bed was comfortable. The blinds are the Venetian type and do not give any darkness once the sun is up. The shower did need a good clean with mould / scum build up around base. Overall not a bad spot to stay.

The major problem with the facility is that they appear to run the pool filter or pump throughout most of the night. The noise is quite loud and extremely annoying, so much so I doubt I will ever look to stay there again. Really polluting noise in the dead of night leading to a restless night with little sleep.

We were lucky to get a room last minute, but found for the price, it was very basic and reasonably unclean. The shower screans were filthy and the floors pretty dirty. It was quite noisy on the balcony. Given it was the only option we had at short notice, I was glad to get a room, but wouldn’t plan to stay there.

Bathroom was dirty the water pressure in shower was dripping no pressure at all In main bedroom could only get 3 channels For What we paid I was very unhappy I would like a nights refund as it was very uncomfortable to stay in

Room was ready early and very clean. Beautiful and easy access to the pool. Loved our stay

This is a Motor Inn and priced as such. About a 10 to 25 minute pretty flat walk into town. Staff are super friendly, beds were comfortable and pillows good. If you qre looking for q no fills nor fancy place this could be worth looking at.

Very basic property. AC took a long time to cool room. Operation was not explained even though we asked about it. Continental breakfast was decent. Not recommended unless you don’t want spend much money.

Everything was ‘ok’, a few issues - air on not working in bedroom, light out in bathroom. Room was clean. Staff was friendly.

All staff was friendly and helpful. I had my own deck which I could walk out to the pool. Not too close to the centre where it’s busy but you could walk. The only bad thing I could say is that whoever is above you you could hear every time they move the chair.

We stayed on 1st floor. Everything is good except shower, water coming very slow.

No front desk after 7pm I couldn’t get the key with no phone number available onsite

We were greeted by Georgie at reception, who is amazing, our check in took seconds, our room was great and the bed was so comfortable, we had a delicious meal in the restaurant served to us by Maéve. Breakfast was delicious. Summer was on reception when we checked out. The Colonial Palms is a great little place with fantastic staff who are there to help you at the drop of a hat! We will be returning to this charming property.

Was told on chat that after hours check in info would be sent to me. It wasn’t, then when I arrived, I got voicemail 3 times at the after hours number. Someone did come and give us the key - thank goodness someone was there. He said they tried to call me, but I had no missed calls. Not great. Hotel was 1/2 mile to port and further to town, location is just adequate for walkers, especially with luggage to manage. Room was clean. Instant coffee with the continental breakfast was a first for us. Wouldn’t stay there again for the price. On par with a motel 6 or Super 8 in the US. Okay for a sleep.

This property was by far the worst stay I have had in a hotel .. I paid 400 for a room for one night which is not the issue .. the issue is is that you would expect some comforts for this price .. the air con in the room was not working and on asking reception about this I was told they already knew but the electrician was not able to make it until another day .. so instead of telling me about this and offering a discount or another room they let me pay full price and after being told I would be co t acted by the owner to discuss the issue I still haven’t heard .. the property is so dated and the beds felt like you were sleeping on springs only .. horrible .. we went to the restaurant for dinner which was an even worse experience .. the food was severely overpriced for what we received .. to pay 36.00 dollars for battered fish and chips you would expect some of the best fish and chips in town and a decent serve .. far from It .. the pasta dish said pan grilled chicken which clearly it wasn’t as it was poached and had zero seasoning and it was inedible .. so bland .. the teriyaki salmon was not teriyaki and the salad and soba noodles had no dressing at all and the dish was tasteless .. after mentioning this to the waitress who I might add was one of the rudest people I have ever been served by she did not care .. I then gave her the four vouchers I was given on arrival for a welcome drink when at dinner and it’s then she mentions it should have only been beer wine or softdrin

Close to the Marina do you can catch a ferry to the islands. Only a short walk from town.

Great motel with a fantastic restaurant. Just across road from ferry terminal for trips to Hamilton Island, and just a 10 minute walk to downtown area.

Staff extremely friendly, restaurant very good, very nice hotel Only thing we did not like was a big street beneath with some noise. Otherwise absolutely to be recommended!

Great location, very nice pool and the breakfast that is included was plentiful and sufficient. I liked that there were croissants on offer, always makes me feel special.

The Inn is of an older style, open, airy and designed well to take advantage of the tropical sun and cool sea breeze. It is situated an easy walking distance from the busy area of town so a nice quiet place to retreat. Right on the public transport bus route from Shute Harbour to Proserpine, well priced rooms with views and friendly relaxed staff, I would recommend it to anyone planning a visit to Airlie Beach.

Fantastic motel, clean and beds were comfy. Free breakfast was simple yet pretty good considering! Easy 10min walk to the shops. Would definitely stay there again.

Loved the verandah with stollen view of the gardens. Easy walk into town and to the ferry to Hamilton island. Great staff.

Only 10 minute walk from the main high street. Friendly staff. Rooms were clean and spacious. Great value compared to other comparable hotels. Would book again.

Excellent value for money and very kind service from both the hotel and restaurant staff. One of the best dinner options in town.

I ordered in room dining and the lamb shank and the wings I ordered was just trash Braised lamb tasted like steamed lamb with the fresh meat smell to it and the none of the food was seasoned properly. I paid for it but I just didn’t eat them and left it in the fridge

Food was great in the restaurant, room was clean and plenty of space for our requirements, walking distance to main strip, owners were really nice people.

We had a great time staff were lovely great room pool was lovely. Only slight complaint was the restaurant and bar closing early. I asked for a dessert menu at about 8.30 but got told the kitchen closed at 8 but wasn’t told it was closing or asked if we would like anything else before it closed.

Meals in restaurant are sensational clean rooms, friendly staff

The hotel and room are very good. All the staff are very friendly and kind. The only small problem is that we received a voucher each for a free drink at dinner, but when we went to order food at 8:05 the girls said that the kitchen had closed at 8pm, but the room information says that dinner is until 9pm, so we were left without dinner and without using the vouchers, as we would only be entitled to drinks if we were having dinner. The hotel is a 15-minute walk from the center of Airlie Beach, where there is everything.
