This property is attached to a bar/casino with a “cabaret”. It is loud. The pictures are very different than reality. The bathroom was rusty with dirt/mold on window sills and on edges. The staff were very nice though

We enjoyed our stay at Magnums and found our room to be very spacious and comfortable. It was particularly convenient that we could store our luggage for free at Magnums while we sailed the Whitsundays before returning for another night at Magnums.

I loved Magnums. We had a triple room with an en-suite and the space was great. The large double commercial kitchen downstairs was always busy but always with enough space to cook. It felt like a tropical resort with lush green trees everywhere.

Great customer service - I forgot an item in my room and they offered to mail it back. Good location right in the middle of the neon street. The rooms are quite basic and the shared bathroom facilities were not the cleanest but I imagine the private rooms would be much better. There is a bar attached to that hostel so depending on where your room is, it could be a bit loud at night

Was a little apprehensive of this property when booking. A "hostel" at a relatively low price point was a bit concerning. At 45 years old we were certainly the elder statesmen, but it was cool. Natural, jungly, clean, a little hippy/crunchy, and right next to a grocery and bottle shop. The bar out front was great. Turns out we were at a hostel named Magnums during prise week. Nightly drag shows and "toad races". Super wierd, but super fun. We went out on a catamaran for a couple days, and they had convenient luggage storage on site.

This property was well equipped and clean, we stayed in one of the en suite twin cabins which was fine for 3 people sharing. The only real downside was that the accommodation was joined with a bar/club hosting live music every night which was quite loud from the room and unfortunately this wasn't noted on the listing. If you are looking for more of a party vibe it would be perfect for you.

This hostel needs a lot of TLC. The room was very dark, dingy and smelt badly of damp, you could see the mould on the walls and the ceiling fan. It was clean except for the plates, cutlery and glasses which had not been washed. The shared bathrooms were clean, but very old and tattered. I'm not sure how anyone taller than 5 ft 5 would cope in the shower as they are so low down. Also wildlife (birds, lizards, insects) were frequently in the bathrooms as there was no main door to them. The resort itself could be great, the kitchens are large and there's a few places to sit and socialise. The location is perfect, in close walking distance to Woolies, maccas, shops, restaurants, beach and lagoon. Overall, if you're looking for a budget base this place is fine. But don't expect a lot as it is in dire need of a renovation.

Magnums is in a great location, right in the heart of Airlie Beach. It has a large bar and nightclub attached to it too. The shared shower and toilet facilities are also pleasant. However, we woke up on our first morning with our bed covered in hundreds of ants, as well as a number of woodlice and small cockroaches in the room. Unfortunately, all of the rooms were fully booked so we could not change to a different room - reception did provide some bug spray, which killed most of the insects but there will still a few crawling around the following morning. 3 stars as the location and price were very good, but of course let down by the insects!

It was pretty barebones and worn-down rooms. It’s in a busy noisy street, luckily the dorms are a bit in the lee and clean inside. Shared bathrooms outside were dirty. Matrasses felt worn down and not comfy. Very affordable but I absolutely dreaded that location. For a short stay it’s doable, but I didn’t really get a good night of sleep.

The room smelt weird. The bed and sheets were clean but everything else looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. I found stuff left from the previous occupants under the furniture. After the first night I woke up with multiple bites. I thought these were mosquitos but upon checking out it has become clear I’m suffering from bed bug bites. I’ve messaged the property to inform them but I haven’t received anything back. I’m now having to either wash or throw away all my items. Not fun!! I’ve given two stars because the hotel has good entertainment and I was allowed to check in early.

Wow I was only there for one night and arrived around 7:30pm and left by 7am however I have to say the room was absolutely spotless. Like every square inch of the triple room and bathroom was immaculate and was the cleanest hotel room I’ve ever stayed at. Very impressed. Will stay again in future

We had a queen cabin with en-suite which was really big! The amenities were great, kettle, fridge, hairdryer, toiletries etc and the bed was pretty comfortable. We loved the setting, in the forest, and the convenience of the location with everything nearby. The staff were really friendly too. We had a lovely stay here.

Was fine to rest your head. We had the small cabins with shared bathrooms and they really are just wooden boxes with a bed inside not much room for anything else. There was only 2 showers for all of the cabins on that block which wasn’t enough. Very outdated rooms and bathrooms.

I’ve liked the green area and lots of trees all around the property and everything is close like Coles or any café. Only cons: the room was a tiny bed with no space at all. And I slept with my head next to the fridge: AWFUL!

Location is great as you are in the middle of everything- however the rooms are loud at night with music and such. Not a big deal for me, but it was for the other people I was traveling with. Very basic- but again this room is for location and price. If you want more of a hotel with comfort- don’t stay here. But if you are ok with the basics it is perfect place to stay.

Our stay at Magnums was great! So convenient and actually super quiet for somewhere that’s actually attached to a club. Only feedback would be better details regarding where to go when you get there for check in, this was literally the only feedback! We will be back, thanks Magnums!

Had a great time here! Stayed just one night, arrived after hours, so phoned ahead to let reception know. They advised they would pop a key in a safe box for us and text us the pin number, which they did. Super smooth check in. The room was fine, and the overall layout and feel of the place was great! Excellent location, right across the street from the lagoon. The friendly reception staff were happy to mind our bags for a few hours after we checked out. Highly recommend this place 😊

Practical room with basic amenities, perfect for solo or travelling friends. Setting of the hostel is unique and a great experience. Everything clean. Reception staff very helpful and they had the cheapest day trip to Hamilton of all the travel agents and hostels.

Had a lovely comfortable stay at Magnums on our way to Cairns. The cabin was cosy, clean and very comfortable. Had a really restful night's sleep in the very comfy bed. Reception staff were lovely and a big shout-out to Nicole. I had injured my foot and was struggling to walk. She accompanied me to and helped me get to my cabin. Thank you for your care and kindness Nicole. Made a huge difference. Loved staying here and definitely on the radar to stay for future trips.

I really enjoyed this hostel for the location, and the staff were super friendly. I was able to leave my luggage while I went off to the islands which was helpful and I generally felt safe there too. The layout is pretty unique for a hostel and the added extras like having a fridge in the room was amazing. I would for sure stay here again whenever I’m back in Airlie.

Beautiful setting, very close to the Main Street which has everything you need from groceries to pub’s and restaurants. The tour companies have pick up locations very close also. You can walk to just about everything and the pool is also very close.

Loved our stay at the cottages. It’s quiet and pretty, easy access to Woolworths. Right in the middle of Airlie shopping centre, minutes from all the shops, cafes,transport and the lagoon.
