We were placed in rooms in the basement without windows. The air was conditioned but hard to regulate. Considering the prices in Amsterdam this is probably ok, but wasn't all that clear from the booking. Do not come by car or estimate parking costs of 65-75 €/day

We were glad we got to check in early and then we paid €15 to check out later at 1300. One annoying thing was that their key card system was down so they had to escort us to our rooms each time to let us in. Not really their fault it failed but nevertheless, annoying for guests to have to wait for each front desk person to return to be able to go into their rooms. I loved that we were able to rent bikes from the hotel but one catch was that you had to have €50 cash for each bike you wanted to rent as a deposit. They weren’t able to put a hold on our credit card so we had to venture off and find the nearest ATM. Overall, the bed was comfortable, the showers had good pressure and hot water!

We really liked staying at this hotel. They have bikes you can rent, which was fun, but make sure to check the bike before you take it, cause some are not in the best shape. The area around the hotel is very quiet and peaceful, and it’s not too far from the museums. There are also some really good coffee shops you can walk to. One more thing we liked, there was no weed smell near the hotel, which was nice. Overall, a good place to stay!

Quaint, modest upper room that had everything we needed. Top floor corner room, quiet in the hotel and quiet in regards to minimal street noise from outside. Had umbrellas to purchase which we needed and were grateful for! And bikes to rent which we didn’t end up using but great to have that option. Very pleasant stay.

Property was good for price, but as an older building we had issues with outlets not working and only one elevator. There is also a luggage room advertised, but it’s just an open shelf/floor space on next to the front desk, which wasn’t ideal.

Would be great to have a gym or a deal with the gym across the street. Also, it only has 2 parking spaces that you must reserve in advance so the description of parking is misleading as it would seem ample parking is available. With that said, we very much enjoyed the location, cleanliness and nice staff.

This is a fairly typical European hotel. The rooms are small, but clean. The shower is a bit of a hassle because it's doorless in a very small bathroom. Beds are reasonably comfortable, although mattresses are likely near replacement time. Staff could be a little more welcoming.

Wonderful experience! Stayed here one night only and it was great. Location was beautiful and convenient, bike rentals were efficient and helpful, and the room was very clean and spacious. The daytime front desk staff was exceedingly helpful and accommodating. Would stay here again!

Beim Check-in gab es direkt Probleme – die Keycard funktionierte zweimal nicht, wobei die Rezeptionistin jedoch freundlich war und schlussendlich das Problem lösen konnte. Das Zimmer wirkte insgesamt stark abgewohnt: alte Substanz, Flecken an den Wänden, alter Teppich und Flecken in den Laken. Auch die Ausstattung machte keinen guten Eindruck: eine schmuddelige Fernbedienung mit offenem Batteriefach und scheinbar defekten Batterien. Das Bad ist zwar modern und grundsätzlich sauber, allerdings klemmte der Wasserhahn in der Dusche und ließ sich kaum abstellen. Auf den Fluren standen zudem dauerhaft Wäschewagen, was den Eindruck weiter trübte. Das Frühstück findet im Keller statt, am Samstag begann es leicht verspätet, was aufgrund eunes Termins sehr ärgerlich sein kann. Es bot nur wenig Auswahl und war von schlechter Qualität – überwiegend Aufbackware. Der Service wirkte zudem wenig freundlich und aufmerksam, die Mitarbeiterin machte einen abweisenden Eindruck und trug währenddessen AirPods. Fazit: gute Lage, aber deutliche Schwächen bei Zimmer, Ausstattung und Service. Der Preis für Frühstück und Zimmer ist absolut nicht angemessen.

Great location- safe, easy access to transit, museums, restaurants, shops and supermarket. Nothing fancy but if you are looking for an economical place to stay, this fits the bill. Pleasant staff. Quadruple room cramped-- bathroom vanity too small; things continually falling off bathroom vanity because it is too; Bed sheets were not changed daily. Unpleasant odour in hallways.

So so hotel. Very beautiful from the outside and in a great location. Unfortunately, the hotel is dated and needs a good clean. Carpets etc are just old. Elevator is slow and seems to have a mind of its own. Staff were fine. Neither rude nor friendly. Bed was not uncomfortable but there was a divot and you could tell was worn from use. Bathroom is poorly laid out with the shower directly spraying water into the toilet area which will inevitably get everything wet. Room isn’t tiny - plenty of space and includes a closet. No usb outlets etc. pretty basic interior.

Albergo in posizione tranquilla e silenziosa, facile muoversi con i mezzi sia per il centro che da/per l’aeroporto (tram e bus a 5-10 min a piedi). Piazza dei musei a 10 min a piedi. La struttura è in buono stato, il personale della manutenzione è estremamente gentile (ho avuto un problema con la tv e sono stati super celeri e carini); il check in /out contactless molto pratico. Le camere hanno bisogno di manutenzione e di una buona pulizia di fino (pareti sporche, pulsanti della luce e phon mooolto sporchi, soffione della doccia con la muffa) e non ho trovato entusiasmante la moquette (macchiata). La qualità della biancheria era buona ed il letto comodo e pulito (un po’ scomodi i cuscini). In camera c’è la macchinetta del caffè con qualche cialda/bustine di the, molto gradite ma non vengono riassortite durante il soggiorno . In sintesi è stato un soggiorno tranquillo, senza infamia e senza lode. Lo consiglio a coppie, famiglie e viaggiatori adulti (>40).

Hotel was well situated and convenient for transport. Staff were lovely. Got what we needed, our only notes were the room (carpet) had an odor/dated. TV was ancient (no use of apps etc) and remote was quite dirty. Had a pleasant time there nonetheless.

Room was underground with no natural light, had incredibly loud noises from the plumbing all day and night. There was an awful smell coming from the room, like sewage for the last 2 days we were there. The towels were not replaced each day meaning we had to keep asking for more. The showe had a steep step to get in and out, and leaked water absolutley everywhere whenever used. Would not stay here again.

Basement rooms are inhuman,, room is very small that it is a hard job to reach the other side of the bed .. zero sound proof .. you can hear clearly the sound of urination of the guests in the upper room and then sound of flushing the toilet.. beside noise in the street as there is a small window at ground level with no sound proof glass .. bed is not bad but not suitable for persons longer than 180 cm .. housekeeping is OK .. and location also is good

The hotel is in a great location - 5 minutes to the museums, 2 minutes to shops and juice bars and 15 minute cycle or tram to the centre. The hotel itself is pretty basic. It is largely self service, albeit it is staffed. Most staff don’t really seem that interested. We asked for a thicker duvet for 2 days and were told it was on its way - it did not arrive. The rooms were tired and worn with evidence of damage that had been poorly repaired. The bathroom was poorly laid out, meaning it largely flooded each time we took a shower. The walls are paper thin, the beds uncomfortable and despite the location, it really is an over priced budget hotel. Probably ok for somewhere to rest off a night on the town, but not great for families or travellers looking for a decent place to stay.

Saw little of the staff. They were helpful when approached. Our double room would have been inadequate for one person alone. The bathroom was minute - you could sit on the loo & have a shower at the same time. They had changed our booking from a twin to a double but without telling us of the limitations of the room they’d given us.

This is the 4th time I’ve stayed at The Alfred and will definitely be back again. The staff are great, the rooms are good sized and modern (also thanks for the free upgrade last time!). Conveniently located in a quiet area but great transport links to the museums/centre and walkable to De Pijp and very close to Vondelpark.

10 out of 10. The Alfred Hotel was absolutely amazing. The staff is super friendly and always happy to help out. The exterior and interior of the building are kept up and maintained brilliantly. The room we stayed in was overlooking biking paths and a street yet we were able to enjoy sleeping at night with the windows wide open due to the quiet neighborhood around us. Very clean. The showers and bathrooms were updated and modern. Walking distance to anywhere you want to go in Amsterdam. Very close to museums and the canals. Everyone one on our trip agreed, we will all be staying at the Alfred Hotel the next time we are back in Amsterdam.

Receptionist on Sunday very helpful, allowed me to check in straight away at 11am and upgraded room free of charge. Room was much higher quality and cheaper than nearby hostels with private room. Will stay again in future.

We booked our stay via expedia which had 2 options a small double room or a standard double room. One showing pictures with a balcony one without, after seeing the pictures we decided to go for the one with the balcony. We paid 15 euro for an hour early check it to arrive back at the hotel for other guests to be checking in for free. Then when we arrived at our room to our disappintment it was a tiny room with no balcony. We went back to the check in desk and asked the receptionist if there had been some mistake, to her response she said everything was as it should be and not all rooms can have a balcony. Advising again this is what we paid for she responsed with "what do you want me to do about it". Not a great customer response after hours of travelling to get to Amsterdam. Nevertheless our towels were changed everyday and is a great location with a tram stop only 4 minutes away.

Great 3 star hotel, well priced in a trendy neighbourhood which is convenient for getting out and about. Highly recommend Tozi a great Italian restaurant within a ten minute walk for something a bit special. Tram, Bus within a 5 minute walk getting you to wherever you want to go. Would definitely book again.

I have stayed here several times now. I really love this hotel. it is a small walk away from a couple of restaurants. also a small walk away from trams and buses. I lovely little walk and you will be able to get to the supermarket, also close enough to the city centre to walk whilst also being far enough away that you don't feel like you're in the middle of everything perfect Hotel.

This hotel is located in a great area that I absolutely love. My only bad points about the hotel would be, when we checked in we were told we got an upgraded room and it was so small we were barely able to walk around to the beds. No place for our suitcases and no lights without a key and no individual switch for the batheoom light ao you jist had to leavd it on until it turnes over. Also when we tried to get a pizza we were told they weren’t available.

Magnifique Séjour à Amsterdam. Hotel situé à 10 minutes à pieds du Rijksmuseum. Plutôt moderne. confortable. il y a quelques détails à améliorer dans la chambre. Ik was samen met mijn zoon van 10 een nachtje naar Amsterdam. We hadden een kamer op de begane grond om de hoek van de receptie. Het personeel praatte vrij luid, zelfs tot een uur of half twaalf 's nachts. We konden de conversaties bijna letterlijk volgen op onze kamer. Rond 5 uur in de morgen was er weer een hoop hard gepraat op de gang. Dit alles kwam onze nachtrust niet bepaald ten goede. Het ontbijt viel ons ook wat tegen. Het zag er vrij "goedkoop" uit. Kant en klare poffertjes, droge roze koeken, goedkope pakken melk. Wij vonden het jammer!
