Hotel is under remodel process and didn’t advise in advance. They’re having trouble with air condition and when we ask for help the person on the counter says I’m sorry, but we’re having trouble with air conditioning in the hotel, so temperature is hot. Location is good

We were there 3 notes, almost $400/night and NO AC. Yep, I requested a refund and they give me hard nose and $30 refund for the entire stay!!!

Great location and so convenient for metro, trams, canal boats and sightseeing. We were on 5th floor with no lift access beyond 4th - so if you don’t want steep stairs, be clear when booking.

Very centrally located, but the building is a little tired, though clean. Central location comes with some noise and with the elevator out of service for part of my stay and my room being next to the stairs, it got pretty noisy with everyone using them. Bed was comfortable and staff were very friendly and helpful though.

Very central to everything, within walking distance and a tram right outside. Hotel staff were lovely room was huge (went for the superior) very clean, nice bathroom slightly dated rooms, some usb sockets didn’t work but that’s not the be all and end all. Loved you had a secure locker for your bags if you got there too early or had a late flight but wanted to go off and enjoy the area

The hotel itself was very nice, and the staff were helpful throughout our stay. However, I’m giving a lower rating because our experience was significantly impacted by early morning construction noise. Out of the three days we stayed, two were disrupted by loud construction starting as early as 7:00 AM. I raised the issue with the manager, but was told there was nothing they could do. Even starting at 10:00 AM would have allowed us a few extra hours of much-needed rest. This trip was meant to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, and unfortunately, being woken up so early each morning really took away from the experience. To make matters worse, we had traveled from New York and were already dealing with a six-hour time difference. It just wasn’t the relaxing getaway we had hoped for.

Great staff. Bag drop-off is a very convenient option. Using the lockers to pick up and drop off was easy. Fantastic servers at the restaurant. Room has everything you need including air conditioning and a fridge. Location is great. Right at Dam Square. The canals are close. The café and the restaurants are all down the street.

I arrived at the hotel during New Year's Eve, we checked in and went up to the room, the room is small and terribly decorated, the bathroom door doesn't open all the way because the bed blocks it, the safe didn't work and after I was told by the reception that the technician would arrive in an hour, he didn't arrive until the next day. The cleaning sucks, they don't clean anything except changing towels and making the bed, I had to leave a note for them to change the sheets!!! And the sheets they replaced were stained, not recommended at all.

I was shocked at how small the shower was. It was so small I kept bumping into the shampoo and soup holder. The shower curtain also blows in which gave me the ick. The bathroom and shower could be cleaner, there was some mold in different corners. But overall, the room was fine and bed was comfortable.

The bed had hair in the sheets and the didn’t make the bed any day the just fix the comforter but one you remove it the sheets under were all wrinkled. The location is good but I rather stay further from the center in a clean hotel

The location of the hotel is phenomenal. It's adjacent to Dam square, McDonald's and Albert hijn right next door. Walking proximity to Amsterdam centraal train station and there are trams right outside the front door to take you to almost anyplace you want to go. The room is super clean. The bed is extremely comfortable BUT... The pillows were terrible, hard as rocks. Room is ridiculously small with a king bed, barely any room to move. The shower had no curtain or doors so entire bathroom gets a bit wet when showering. Shout out to Livvy who was fantastic at check-in and Stephanie was great getting us a cab to schipol airport for $60 euros when Uber was 134 euros. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Very centrally located, plenty to see and do within walking distance, plus trams right outside. I had a superior city view room on the third floor - room was a good size, with good facilities, but the bathroom was very small, and there isn't really anywhere to unpack your clothes aside from a very narrow wardrobe. A bit noisy at night, but to be expected from a central location in a city like Amsterdam. Overall, a good hotel, but a little expensive, and could do with a bigger bathroom.

The hotel room is quite good. Very high ceilings, modern-decorated room, really comfy bed. The location is very central. However, the internet is outstandingly poor! When you lie down on the bed, there is just no WiFi signal! Overall, it is barely usable with speeds around 5-7 Mbit. Also, there is no kettle and tea. Just a coffee machine and a few coffee capsules. I had to ask reception to bring it in. Should I also mention there is a lift, however, I waited for 2 minutes and it did not come to my floor. That happened twice and I never used it afterwards (gave up on it). Overall, I am not sure it was worth such a high price tag.

Great location and clean quiet room apart from the shower which is impossible to take a shower without flooding part of the bathroom floor. There’s no ledge to keep the water contained and the shower is small with only a curtain. I didn’t enjoy mopping up. The rest of the room was fine, with handy fridge and coffee maker. Bottled water would be a plus, but there’s a convenience store a couple of doors down. I never got to eat in the restaurant but it looked very nice. You can walk to the train station to get to the airport, no problem!

The hotel and room was lovely, modern “, spacious and clean. The staff were helpful and the location was perfect. We had a superior room with “city view”. To call a view of another building, and rooftops with scaffolding a city view is wrong, so I would suggest the description of some rooms are amended. The photographs of said rooms are misleading as it made me think that I would be at the front of the hotel, with a balcony. We were actually at the side of the hotel, with no balcony. We weren’t at the hotel much, so it didn’t spoil it, but I did feel slightly disappointed as I was excited for a nice view. When I called reception, the lady apologised and said there was nothing she could do as the other rooms were fully booked.

It is okay. The hotel is under renovation and it has impact to the stay. The reception is good. One of the receptionist is nice and show friendliness while the other show us cold face. Elevator is small and slow. The room is okay. They gave us welcome chocolate which is awesome. The coffee they offer is fine.

I must let you know that on our trip out we gorhot ou pasdports in the safe at the hotel. The person at the front desk arranged for a taxi to drive to rotterdam and deliver our passports in such a quick and efficient manner. Thanks to her we were able to board our cruise in time. We are so grateful for her quick thinking and organization skills! The dining was amazing at the hotel as well as the persons making up our rooms. We appreciated being so close to everything at your hotel. Everything was easily accessed!

We are so grateful for her quick thinking and organization skills! The dining was amazing at the hotel as well as the persons making up our rooms. I really appreciated the help with directions I got from front desk person. I did not get here name. She had Blond hair and the morning shift Sat. She was friendly professional and went out of here way help with directions to my tours. Give that woman a raise.

Overall good. We checked in late due to a delayed flight in Schiphol. Got checked in quickly. Remember that there is a surcharge called city tax which is paid at the counter when checking in. The area can be a bit noisy but it wasn't too bad for us. Our baby was given a comfy cot and slept well. However the service team was not well coordinated and hadn't prepared the cot before we arrived. It took a quarter or so before they came in and set up the cot and sheets. Alla in all a good stay for us.

Amazing location. Sheets were not clean when we first checked in but staff was quick to replace all the linen. We were given two twin beds that were pushed together, however they came apart very easily when you accidentally turned into the gap. Staff said they would place a pad on top but that didn’t end up happening. Working AC. Construction is still ongoing but did not bother us. Staff was very approachable. Overall was still a good stay. The location made up for all the inconveniences.

However, I’m giving a lower rating because our experience was significantly impacted by early morning construction noise. Out of the three days we stayed, two were disrupted by loud construction starting as early as 7:00 AM. I raised the issue with the manager, but was told there was nothing they could do. Even starting at 10:00 AM would have allowed us a few extra hours of much-needed rest. This trip was meant to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, and unfortunately, being woken up so early each morning really took away from the experience. To make matters worse, we had traveled from New York and were already dealing with a six-hour time difference. It just wasn’t the relaxing getaway we had hoped for.

I got a comfort room in the 2nd floor, hallway smells a bit funny. Keylock to access the hotel is good. Even comfort room is a bit small, not really room to properly unfold the suitcase. If you're medium tall you won't be able to sit normally on the toilet, your knees will hit the wall. Somewhat easy to hear into the hallway. I was charged the wrong amount on the city tax. Don't know how that happens really. Nothing in the minibar, need to fill it yourself, and the room looks good in terms of decoration. Helpful reception, easy access to Centraal Station.

My third visit to Amsterdam and second stay at Hotel Roode de Leeuw!!! The perfect location for exploring Amsterdam!!! Our room was beautiful and had a charming balcony with city views! The hotel is in an excellent position, next to Dam Square and is central to all the major attractions. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed the a-la-carte breakfast (as we did not wish to pay for the breakfast buffet on booking) in their lovely restaurant downstairs. The only thing that was disappointing is that we were not told of the renovation works that were ongoing. However we would stay here again (but would just check no works were scheduled before booking!)

Great location next to Dam Square. Good sized room, big bed, nespresso machine. Everything you could need is close by, and it's convenient for the main railway station and trams. My second stay here, and would definitely stay again.

Vi bokade 2 standard rum under 3 dagars vistelse och när efter första natten var vi inte nöjda med ena rummet pga sängstorlek så fick vi byta rummet den nästkommande dag utan problem, så service var på toppnivå. Både rummen var fina och sängerna bekväma. Det fanns dock 2 saker som ett 4-stjärning hotel bör vara bättre på och dessa är: 1. Toalettartiklar- det fanns endast tvål, alltså ingen schampo/balsam. 2. Hotellfrukost- den var på bottennivå, väldig enkel och dyr. Inga påfyllningar av produkter, brödet var hård,äggröran verkade ofräsch liksom gulsoten. Sammanfattningsvis var vi nöjda med vistelsen dock så förväntas det mer av ett 4-stjärning hotell.

Great place to stay, the breakfast was lacking compared to the price. There was almost no food to choose from… but the hotel it self was great and greatly located in the city center. Would recommend just have breakfast elsewhere as there are a lot of breakfast places.

Great staff. Bag drop-off is a very convenient option. Using the lockers to pick up and drop off was easy. Fantastic servers at the restaurant. Room has everything you need including air conditioning and a fridge. Location is great. Right at Dam Square. The canals are close. The café and the restaurants are all down the street.

We had a fantastic stay here in the heart of Amsterdam, well located to easily explore the city. The atmosphere of our city street view made us stay in the room a few times, relaxing and drinking coffee by the open window (from the included coffee pod machine). There was also a kettle for tea. The bed was large and comfortable, and the staff friendly and attentive, very quickly sorting out a few minor issues with our TV and AC, and providing a breakfast box for us to take away on our early train. Otherwise the breakfast buffet was excellent and extensive, and well worth springing for. I hope to be back soon!
