The ED Amsterdam

Everything was great except that the entrance has steep stairs and it’s hard carrying your luggage up the stairs.

Nice hotel just outside what used to be the outer canal of the city, 400 yrs ago. Easily walkable to the Rijksmuseum. And everywhere, really. Tram 17 is a block away (behind the property) and there are others that stop at Leidse Sq., just across the canal, including the express from the airport. Breakfast is good, although I only went twice out of the 5 days. The coffeemaker in the room is good, and there's a little fridge so you can keep milk and snacks. There are 5-6 steep steps from the street, so it's not really handicapped accessible. My room was comfortable and quiet. The only odd thing is there's a window in the wall right next to the toilet; it's frosted, but still, if you're there with a companion, you're a little bit on display, it feels like. Weird design choice.

Excellent breakfast buffet. I suggest you pay the extra charge to include breakfast during your stay. I wish there’s a ramp at the front of the hotel to wheel our luggages in. There’s only stairs at the front. Staff are friendly and the hotel is always clean. I will definitely stay here again when I come back for another Europe vacation.

Check in and out were simple and the room was small but clean and nice. The seethrough door next to the toilet is a bit odd but otherwise the room was perfect for our needs. I wouldn’t say the rooms are sound proof but most places are not. And the stairs to enter may be difficult for those with accessibility needs, but that applies to a lot of places in the area. The coffee and kettle in the room were great and the small convenience store downstairs was helpful after a late night. Would stay again.

Da værelset lå ud til en trafikeret vej kunne vi ikke sove med vinduet åbent, så der blev ulideligt varmt om natten. Vi var afsted i foråret, så jeg vil virkelig ikke anbefale at booke hotellet om sommeren.

Overall it was good. Perfect location? But rooms are super small, and the hotel needs better maintenance. Elevator is super slow and the stairs are not the safest, specially the main entrance.

Stayed overnight at this hotel in a budget room. Whilst the room was the tiniest it was very clean and fresh and had all the facilities, ie toilet and shower, fresh towels shower gels etc. Also had a safe, mini fridge etc. The bed was so comfortable. They have a screen in the reception to check-in and out where your room cards are authorised and where you return them when you check out. There is also help with the process if technology is not for you. They have a room to store your luggage should you wish to collect it later following check-out which is secure. Reception is brightly decorated with a small bar but clean and well maintained with comfortable seating areas. Walking distance to city shops bars restaurants, leisure trips on the canal is a 20 minute walk. Would stay here again.

Many hotels are closer to “downtown” - about a 20 minute walk away from Anne Frank house. Found old candy spilled under edge of the bed - so minimal vacuuming had been done in a while. First time in Amsterdam- so hard to compare what one “should” get for $225 per night - but we were a bit disappointed.

Excelent location. Everything was good except that the air conditioner, which was incredibly loud and thus unusable. Luckily for us it was spring time and fine without it. Breakfast is fairly basic but can be handy if you want the convinience.

A very central location with lots of transport options. The Vondelpark is very close, and it is easy to talk to the Jordaan, Damrak, and the 9 Streets. The room was quiet and well appointed. We were able to check in right away even though we arrived very early in the morning. The lobby has a fountain to fill up water bottles on your way out the door.

The location of this hotel was great & the customer service was excellent. However, the rooms were a bit small (couldn’t open two suitcases at the same time) and we requested our room be cleaned and it wasn’t (so we had to change our sheets, dispose of garbage, and get new towels ourselves).

Big hairs in the bed. Strange smell all around the hotel. Stay away

Position is excellent, facilities and room are quite nice overall - but we had an issue that the staff has been unable to help with. The hotel runs a eco-friendly campaign for rooms cleaning every third night, and during our 4 days stay it was raining everyday, so the room floor and carpet became quite dirty with leaves, water and whatever we were bringing from outside - even if we were getting our shoes off as soon as entering the room. I have asked the staff to clean the room 4 times - once during the early online check-in, twice via their web app accessible via a QR code in the room, and a last time to the front staff. We have been reassured it would have been cleaned, but it hasn't been, and there was no light cleaning equipment available.

Hotel limpo, moderno, bem localizado, com ar condicionado. café da manhã excelente , que eu paguei a parte mas por um preço justo. O ponto negativo é o serviço de limpeza ser somente a cada três noites. O banheiro era apertado, como quase todos da Europa mas muito limpo!

There were bed bugs (got buiten on eyelid). The staff is not friendly, welcoming

Bra rymligt dubbelrum, dock så upptäckte vi silverfiskar i hallen efter andra dagen. Fick byta rum, dock till ett mindre. De städade upp rummet och vi fick flytta tillbaka då det andra rummet ju inte var det vi bokade, på vår begäran. Problemet med silverfiskarna försvann efter grundligt städ. Bra frukost, inte jättestor men allt du behöver. Bra läge på hotellet, lugnt rum utan störningsmoment. Bra säng och kuddar!

Only thing I’ll complain about is the glass bathroom door. I know it’s a trend right now but a curtain would be appreciated. Also glass doors are noisy and if you need to go in the middle of the night turning the light on will wake anyone in the room.

Definitely not soundproof rooms. You can hear everyone. People upstairs walking and knocking on doors, people down the hall in other rooms having conversations, the people directly next to us having sexual relations, and the street noise made it pretty close to impossible to sleep. Cute room and interesting decor, but if you’re looking for a hotel to sleep at, look elsewhere. Close to lots.

The property was very well-maintained and in a convenient location for walking around or taking the tram. The cost per night was outrageous given that the room was literally not big enough for my suitcase (which was not abnormally large) to be open—in order to open the suitcase, I had to put it on top of the bed because the width of the space between the bed and floor was not enough to have the suitcase on the ground. Shockingly small room for the price.

Sehr gute Lage. Die Dame an der Rezeption beim Check In war nicht besonders freundlich. Das Personal beim Frühstück war hingegen sehr nett. Die Auswahl beim Frühstück war ausreichend, aber hat uns nicht umgehauen (Obstsalat o. Ä. wäre schön). Das Zimmer war in Ordnung, aber sauber. Leider fehlte uns ein Kleiderschrank oder Möglichkeiten, um Kleidung aufzuhängen.

Very clean, nice decor, good location, bed comfortable (firm but not too firm). The room was compact but had everything we needed at a reasonable price for an expensive city. The only thing I didn’t like was that there was a frosted glass wall on one side of the bathroom facing the bed, giving little privacy into the bathroom when you needed to have a light on in there. Otherwise, a great stay and would highly recommend

Our room was very small but clean and we basically just slept there so it was okay. The location and very helpful and welcoming staff were great. If you’re going to keep yourself out touring the city all day then it is a great place at a reasonable price.

Front desk staff was very unfriendly and gave the impression we were inconveniencing them. Rooms are incredibly small with limited amenities for the price. Poor communication about fees and charges.

Hotel was conveniently located near many restaurants - The Pantry restaurant just a 5 min walk. Walking all through Amsterdam was easy, about a 30 min walk to central station. Hotel staff were excellent - even let us check in at 7:00 am after a long flight

I stayed here for 3 nights on a solo trip to Amsterdam and cannot fault the hotel in any way. The greeting on arrival was friendly and n helped me how to use the digital check in. I was in a single room which was small but perfectly formed. Good choice in the bar on the ground floor which was a comfortable place to sit and have a nightcap. There was a good choice at breakfast and both the bedroom and public rooms were clean and comfortable. If I return to Amsterdam I will almost certainly stay at the Ed again. It is on the edge of the city centre but is a two minute walk from the tram stop at Leidseplein and from there it is only 10 minutes to the city centre. I cannot recommend highly enough

Disappointing Experience with ED Amsterdam I had high hopes for my stay at the ED Amsterdam, but unfortunately, I was unable to take my trip due to the sudden passing of my father. I had booked a non-refundable room, and while I fully understood the policy, I hoped for some flexibility given the circumstances. I requested to swap my dates to a future time and was open to paying the difference in price, as I understand rates can vary depending on the season. However, I was deeply disappointed by the hotel’s approach. The additional charge they quoted for the new dates was nearly the same as my initial payment, effectively doubling the cost. To make matters worse, I found that I could book the same dates directly through other websites for less than my original price. It felt as though the hotel was taking advantage of the situation rather than offering reasonable support or understanding. This experience left a sour taste, and I would be hesitant to book with them again in the future. Compassion and fairness go a long way in building customer trust, and unfortunately, I didn’t feel either in this case.

Front desk not available during check in time, there’s self check in machine but missing key cards, have to wait 10-15 mins for front desk show up to finish my check in process.

The staff were extremally helpful and friendly. Hotel was in a good location close to the busy leidseplein area and also to the museum's. There were also plenty of amenities close to the hotel, but it is the staff that make this hotel. The room was quiet and clean.

Very good hotel with great location. Tram and bus stops near and a lots of restaurants and super markets. The room size was convenient, not so spacious, but works fine. Breakfast was not expensive, but not many hot dishes. Service was good and loved that they had a self check-out market with all the essentials. Only thing i didn't like was the glass wall in the bathroom, located just beside the toilet, in front of the bed, which leaves no privacy at all. But overall, good hotel, would recommend.

Clean rooms with good facilities and only a short walk to public transport and tour services.

Very cozy and warm, rooms may be a bit smaller than usual but the location of the hotel is amazing, walking distance from all trending spots, also lovely and helpful staff.

A quirky looking hotel but we had an amazing stay in a very comfortable room. It was a bargain considering its locations to shops, restaurants, the museum quarter and transport links.

Great location. Close to museums, cafes, bars, coffee shops and transport links including the AirPort Express bus #397 (bus stop Leidesplein). Hotel is really easy to find and get back to, but is far enough away from craziness to be super quiet at night. If you want to party you can get on tram and go 4-5 stops and everything you want is there. The standard room we stayed in was incredibly small. Bigger people or those that was a bit of elbow room would really struggle. My wife and I managed fine. Room was modern and clean with plenty of electrical sockets, plus tea and coffee making facilities (no milk though). Breakfast was very nice, though there was not a great deal of choice - for instance the only items available hot were scramble eggs and Poffertjes (mini, puffy pancakes), there was not an option to put bread through toaster or warm croissants, but again, we made do and had a lovely breakfast. Orange juice was very good and there was a good choice of teas. On arrival they asked us if we wanted the room cleaning or clean towels to just request it - which I think is excellent, who does that at home daily anyway? So much better for environment. There also a water fountain in lobby for refilling bottles. Overall, I think the price we paid for bed & breakfast was very good value for money and we would happily stay there again and recommend to others, especially those who want to be slightly away from the partying and closer to the more cultural sights.

Nous avons passés un séjour superbe ! L’hôtel et le personnel sont tout bonnement super ! D’une patience et gentillesse. L’hôtel est très beau et propre. Petit déjeuner extra :) Déjà hâte de revenir !

Nice hotel, well located for the bus to & from the airport. Walking distance to all the attractions. Rooms are compact, bed is very comfortable, shower is excellent. Continental breakfast not really worth additional charge.

Great hotel and location. Staff are friendly and multilingual. Very small rooms. Breakfast selection is the same every day so I would pass on it if staying multiple days. No hot food.

Great location. Not too far from the canals and museum. The staff were super helpful and friendly. Updated room with air condition, tho room was on the small side (to be expected). Loved the nespresso machine in the room. Pleasant surprise that breakfast was included. Great selection of meat, cheese, fruit, bread & bakery selection, yogurt and hard boiled eggs. Awesome coffee machine!!! Would definitely return!

This property is convenient to museums, which is why we chose it. We took the bus from the airport and walked about 3 minutes to the hotel. The place is spotless and modern. The room was slightly small. Breakfast was fairly basic, only hot option was pancakes (they were good!). Staff at the front desk were super helpful and friendly, giving us a map and restaurant suggestions. We’d stay here again.

Really cosy well decored hotel in a great location. Friendly helpful staff on hand at check-in, water point in lobby was a nice touch. All attractions within walking distance too!
