Dikker & Thijs Hotel

Staff were nice and helpful. The hotel is a convenient location but currently it’s surrounding is undergoing renovations so finding it was not easy, especially at night. The hotel is an old edification, with partial elevators (there are steps up or down all over) therefore not appropriate for older folks or people with physical disabilities. Furthermore, the nicest suite offered is only accessed through a narrow and dangerous spiral stairs!!! Recommend it for the younger crowd when not physically tired.

Small gym that had everything I needed. The hotel lounge had coffee and tea always available, and cooked to order eggs were perfect for the mornings. Excellent location, walking distance to many of Amsterdam’s attractions. The staff was extremely helpful with dinner suggestions and overall info about the city.

Coffee room and free coffee all day or night was an extra bonus. Great hotel in an excellent location.

The staff were very courteous and friendly. The included breakfast and always available coffee were great. Only things missing were a bar and air conditioning in the public areas. Fortunately they did have it in the room. Overall a great hotel. It just happened we arrived during a very hot spell and the ac was missed. I would definitely recommend though.

Super location in the canal rings. Be aware you will need to handle stairs if your room is on the top floors.

Fabulous location, very friendly staff, spacious room, comfortable beds. Loved the complimentary coffee lounge and Rituals brand toiletries in the bathroom. All in all this exceeded our expectations and we will definitely stay here again.

The property is very well situated in the city, with everything close by. However, the door locking mechanism is very strange (having to return the key every time I leave), and the gym is very cramped for what it is. However, all of the staff are very professional and hospitable, and everything is clean.

The property was lovely. It was an old, historic, building but well maintained. I would caution anyone with accessibility issues that, though there is an elevator, the floor I was on had stairs to get to and from my room.

Everything about our stay was wonderful - the staff, the room, the location, the housekeeping service, the breakfast, the free coffee 24/7 including cappuccino, espresso, and latte macchiato. Oh, and fresh-squeezed orange juice made on the spot with this very cool machine. We were able to store our luggage on the last day before our evening departure from Amsterdam. Can't wait to come back.

Clean room, lovely staff and great location.

This hotel is well-located. I had a long, bad stay. The first room I was put in was filthy and smelled very, very bad. (I also later realised that the comforter did not even have a cover on it, it was just the interior lining--gross). There was a used towel in the bathroom. The hotel was totally full, so I wasn't able to make changes same day. I went out and had to buy disinfectant and room spray to somewhat combat the order. I asked to be moved the next day and was assisted by a kind evening man who told me I could simply switch rooms in the morning. In the morning, a woman called and started screaming at me to check out early from the room if I wanted to change. I have never been screamed at by a hotel person in my life. I explained what the man the night prior said (that I could stay in the room until a new room was ready) and she proceeded to yell at me about staff needing to get into the room to clean it (shocking to hear that cleaning was a priority for them). The issue was that I had a work mtg and needed privacy. I was appalled by her attitude & tone. The next room was much better. It had no smell and the sheets were clean. However, 1 of the towels was very stained, there was a huge hairball wrapped around the plug for the drain, the trash was still full from the guest prior, the counter wasn't cleaned. Also, when I checked in the first time, my room was not ready even at 3pm, which is the check in time. Some rooms are not accessible (stairs) and they do not say this.

Hotel was exactly as pictured on website. Area is under construction but location is perfect. Lovely staff; safe; clean; room was big.

While we only stayed one night, it was amazing and I wish we stayed longer. The room was lovely, super clean and spacious. The staff was also helpful with any questions we had. Will definitely be booking this hotel whenever I get the chance to go back to Amsterdam.

Excellent location close to the city center, close to museums. Host were very friendly. Rooms were not modern but for a building this old, the rooms were very good. Good size, clean, comfortable.

Oda temizliği çalışanlar güler yüzlüydü, kahvaltı hakkında yorum yapamayacağım çünkü kahvaltı tercih etmedik. Odada kettle buzdolabı Ütü çoğu ihtiyaç duyduğunuz her şey vardı. Kahve makinesi bile mevcuttu. Her gün oda temizlendi. Böcek çıkmasından çok korkuyorduk ama o da çok temizdi. Üç gece kaldık gayet güzeldi dam meydanına 15 -20 dk.müzeler meydanına 15dk yürüyerek.merkez tren istasyonuna 45 dk yürüyerek.genel olarak şehrin tam ortasında kalıyor.kanal kenarında çok güzel bir otel sadece centraal stationa biraz uzak:) oda ısısı gayet sıcaktı.

Room #107. Liked the coffee station. Hotel needs seating outside the front doors. Our room was very small for 2 people. Only 1 chair, no table, not much bathroom counter space & no room to walk next to bed. Upon check in, we found a contact lens on the bathroom floor (was it cleaned?). Next night I found a dry rolled up contact lens in our bed (were the sheets really changed?). Found out after waiting Uber drivers do not like to pick up there due to the construction. Disgusted. I will not recommend this hotel.

El lugar es muy incómodo, con poca iluminación en la habitación, súper sucio, tuve que limpiar el roperito donde colgué mi ropa pues tenía polvo de meses, la tina es angosta e incómoda para bañarse con la regadera, lo único excelente fue el desayuno y la atención de Karla en el restaurante, por lo demás no regresaría

Tres bel emplacement mais fortement perturbé par le bruit, et les tremblements !!! incessant du tramway. Par ailleurs, si le quartier est très animé, il en est donc très bruyant jusque à une heure très avancée de la nuit. Fuyez les chambres donnant sur la rue et exigez en une qui donne uniquement sur le canal. Mais vous subirez toujours le tramway. La salle de bain était décevante pour un hôtel de ce standing et cette gamme de prix. Seul point vraiment positif, le personnel : Très aimable et serviable. Mais je n'y reviendrait pas.

This property is at the intersection of the Prinzengracht, which is very beautiful, and the Leidsestraat, which is a main artery connecting to Leidseplein, which is a major tourist and party venue, so it can be noisy well into the small hours. Great if you want to party until the wee hours; less so if you want to sleep. (I may not help that we stayed there during the university orientation week.) The hotel facilities were all good except the plumbing appears old, so the water temperature coming out of the shower is irregular, unpredicatable and difficult to regulate.

Tres central Ce que je n'ai aps aime. Chambre non-insonorisee, systeme de douche horrible. Eau chaude se change en douche froide.

Lovely decorated room, and hotel. Great location, a little loud, on the canal front. Comfortable bed, nice staff, excellent location close to vondelpark.

The front desk staff was very helpful with explaining how to use the tram and train. One note about the tub - the floor of the tub was higher than the bathroom floor. This made stepping out feel a bit unsafe, as if one might slip.

Excellent property in a great location. Convenient to everything we wanted to see. Desk attendant, Bruno, was really helpful in recommending what and where we could go.

We had a lovely stay at Dikker & Thijs Hotel in Amsterdam. With a room on the first floor and third floor we had some nice canal views and being on the corner there was always action to watch: bikes, pedestrians, transit and canal boats. The morning breakfast was delicious with a few hot options and plenty of baked treats and continental breakfast buffet options. The servers were always very friendly and accommodating. When we arrived the first evening, our first floor room was too warm and the third floor room had a light not working in the bathroom and the sheets on the sofa bed were questionably clean?? The front desk was notified and the bathroom light fixed and bedding changed. Unfortunately there was not much of change to the temperature of our first floor room but turning the temps down on the radiators and thermostat helped a little. Windows on this floor also didn’t open as they were covered with something we assumed helped with noise control. The third floor room windows opened, which was lovely, but also a little more street noise came in. Being an old building we also had issues with hot & cold in the showers but it was manageable. The third floor room’s bathroom could use some TLC. The location is nice as many restaurants and shops are within walkable distance. It is very close to Leidseplein, which is a very busy area Friday & Saturday evenings. Sadly the streets are a mess Saturday & Sunday mornings from the nightlife just throwing their garbage wherever.

Hard to sleep. The bed was way to soft and the noise from the tram and late night rowdiness made it difficult to sleep. The room was excellent. It was annoying that you had to leave your key at the front desk when you left for the day. Wouldn't have been an issue if there was always someone at reception,. Unfortunately, far to often we had to ring the bell to get someone's attention.

Great location, clean room, and amazing staff

The location of this hotel is excellent...with the tram stop (2, 12, 17) just outside the door to make trips to museums, central station, airport, etc., super easy. Great options for restaurants abound in the area. Our room was on the small side, but comfortable and clean with a great view of the canal. The only complaint we would have would be the evening desk attendant...he could use some personality work; otherwise, all others were simply delightful. Breakfast is also pricey with limited options, but there is an excellent bakery just across the street. We would definitely stay here again.

Staff were very excellent. Check in was very easy; they allowed us an early checkin unlike any other hotels. Location is simply outstanding bang on the channel; close to transit systems; all restaurants around and walkable to Museums, Central station and shopping areas.

Quero fazer as minhas considerações a toda equipe do hotel. Sou brasileiro, e fui a uma viagem pela primeira vez em Amsterdam. Fui recepcionado de madrugada pelo o atendente Olaf. Muito atencioso e prestativo. Não sou muito bom do inglês, e me ajudou de diversas formas, recomendo lugares e restaurantes. Também não posso deixar de considerar o atendente Bruno. Ele é português e me ajudou na comunicação, já que sou Brasileiro. O Hotel é impecável, desde os quartos, ao saguão, cozinha e café da manhã. Localização perfeito, de frente dos canais e próximo das lojas para compras e passeios. Estou muito feliz e agradecido por toda recepção. Em breve retornarei a cidade e com toda certeza, ficarei no hotel. Saudações de um brasileiro. Obrigado!!

Great hotel- super good location for walking the city center. Road construction on the bridge right outside the hotel- so our cab couldn’t even get close- had to drag our bags. The bridge should be redone in a few weeks I would guess. 7-24

Location is perfect!

Breakfast is very nice with good food and service. I enjoyed the large size bathtub in a room. Due to construction renovating the street and the canal bridge in front of the hotel, they not only look ugly but the street is blocked for cars and pedestrians, taxi driver forced me to get off a block away.

Great hotel. We were 3 in a room, very spacious and comfortable. Great location, near restaurants and tram. Owner, Martin, is very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back and recommend highly.

The property is in the centre of everything which makes it so easy to visit museums & all the tourist attractions. However, the noise at night is unbelievable. It never stops!

This hotel was great! Super friendly staff. The area is also perfect with a tram stop right at the hotel and all the food options you could want within a 5 minute walk. Museum quarter, Anne Frank house, and lots more an easy walk as well.

Wonderful staff, everyone was kind, thoughtful and full of life!! Breakfast was absolutely wonderful!!

Convenient location in the center of Amsterdam. About 30-40min walk from Amsterdam Central. Trams stop right in front of the hotel. Walkable to main tourist attractions. Stayed in a nice and spacious top floor with attic ceiling. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Direct us to a place that helped book our last-minute tour to Keukenhof garden during the flower parade weekend frenzy!

Wonderful hotel near the museums and right on a canal with the tram just outside the door. Staff at the hotel were the best part of my stay. So kind. Breakfast room is lovely and I had the best poached eggs! Highly recommended staying here.

Absolutely perfect choice! People were so friendly and helpful….we loved the lounge area to meet at end of day and have a cocktail or a coffee. Breakfast excellent with amazing service!! Front desk staff incredibly helpful. My only suggestion would be to put a shelf in bathroom for toiletries and a handrail to step out of shower. Housekeeping did a nice job, but didn’t pick up dirty glasses left on desk for a few days, that confused us! Minor complaint! We all agree we would stay there without question.

Property is a little dated, shower could be better. Breakfast was excellent plenty of choices, great Cappuccino. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, location was great for getting to most places. Good choices around for eating out as hotel only serves breakfast. Highly recommend.
