Norfolk Arms Hotel - Arundel

All, good at the property. Serving staff, were a little slow .. seem to be understaffed. On site parking bays are difficult to get into and out of .

Nice hotel, great location, friendly staff. But restaurant not open on Sunday, could have advised us before we turned up.

Big clean room, lovely reading room, tap room and bar.

The Norfolk Arms is placed in the heart of Arundel and with a warm welcome and lovely sitting-room, bar and dining-room together with everything on your doorstep it's a great place to stay. It's definitely a place you would look forward to visiting again.

the courtyard rooms are comfortable. the bed was very comfortable too. parking £6 a day in their car park. excellent location right in the centre of arundel and opposite restaurants and cafes. few mins walk to the castle and the river. the food was excellent if a bit pricy but we found all the restaurants were about the same price as the hotel. the courtyard could do with resurfacing. you do get noise from people sitting in the courtyard as the bedroom windows open on to the courtyard where people are chatting. we will definitely return.

We requested and received ground floor rooms as there is no elevator on the property. Check in was quick and easy and our room clean and well equipped with coffee/tea, iron, hair drier etc. Dining was not inexpensive but good qualty and plentiful. The location is very central and a very short walk to restaurants and Arundel Castle.

Old hotel so did not expect a lot of modern amenities. However, rooms were clean and comfortable, nice little bar. Unfortunately, restaurant closed at 5:00. No big deal as there were a lot of small restaurants very close by.

Perfect location. Nice lounge and indoor/ outdoor seating areas. Bartendars were very professional and also personable. Will return

Norfolks Arms was clean and we had a large room with view of the town and it was great. Only downside is all the great rooms are on the third floor and no elevator. We're in late 70's and 80's but still managed OK. Breakfast was good, our room was very clean. Looks like they are in the process of replacing carpets in the hallways that are getting worn, so they are keeping up with upkeep. Dont know how their smaller rooms are.

Lovely hotel in the high street. Looked very bright with the christmas lights and decorations. Staff were all nice and brekky was delish. The only thing I'd moan at is having to pay to stay in the hotel car park, ive never had to do that before!

Room clean and warm, good decor and good shower

March 19 - One night stay in Arundel. Room 1 on first floor over looks the main high street. Windows are single glazed but road noise not busy late or too early. Bed very comfy , bathroom good, although grouting and some of the paint work needs a refesh. Car parking not a problem in hotel car park, but we weren't staying high season. 2 mins walk to Castle entrance, shame it wasnt open until 28th ! Impressive cathedral, fortunate to visit whilst the organist was having a practice. Arundel is lovely to stroll around, and count the number of pubs ! Swanbourne Lake and Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust are a short walk up Mill Road.

We had a ground floor room onto a busy a noisy area, with little privacy. Hotel room was a bit tired with mould along the edges of the bath. Overall it was OK but I wouldn’t rush back. The staff were all really nice and helpful.

Having stayed at the Norfolk Arms multiple times, I’m happy to recommend. The location is excellent and rooms comfortable and clean.

Great location. Bedroom quiet and clean although layer of dust on headboard. All staff friendly apart from bar staff, they were a little grumpy. But on the whole a good visit and worth the money.

The bed was comfortable and the bathroom good. Great location. Lovely staff. The issues are, the wifi doesn’t work. It would disconnect constantly. The room & bathroom was dusty. We didn’t eat breakfast there.

The room was very dated. We appreciate that it’s an old building however the bathroom in particular needs updating.

The hotel itself is fine - it’s old and it’s what you would expect from an old property. There’s no soundproofing and if you can hear everything through the walls very easily, creaky floorboards, people snoring, farting, whatever. But the bed is very comfortable and the shower is great. And the room is very clean, so they got that right. The problem with this place is the lack of care and hospitality shown to guests. The check-in and the checkout was really sloppy. On checking in we were pointed to a room which didn’t appear to exist, took us a while to find it which is a bit stupid really. Guy could have just told us exactly where to go avd not just pointed to stairs and said “it’s up there”. On checking out same guy asks for payment for parking. Eh? You didn’t tell us when we checked in there was a charge for parking. He didn’t tell us that there was a code to get out of car park either. We had to call him from our car at the barrier and ask - no apology either, just gave us the code like it was our fault or something? Not the behaviour of someone who has been well trained in hospitality. It was a decent enough stay overall, just wish they’d train the staff to be more considerate to guests.

I stay fairly frequently here and the service was great as always, the staff are super, we had dinner as well which is highly recommended. But, I stayed in a bath only room (27) and the hot tap just didn’t run, I mean it dribbled to a stop and that is not good enough. On checkout I was advised the pump was broken, but that being the case they should have called me and advised this, there are many places to stay in Arundel and I could have altered my stay, assuming they were fully booked. Like I will when I next book, ask the question are the taps for the bath working…..shame as I do like it at this hotel.

We were in town for the evening for a party. Property is full of character. Clean and tidy and slept well in a large and comfortable bed. All the usual amenities with tea making and biscuits etc. Only stayed one night with my partner but service was efficient and friendly enough. Only real complaint is it would have been nice to be able to pre-book parking (the car park is very tight by the way..) and the shower in our room was not great (pressure). I would stay again though..

Hotel is in the town centre, parking available for guests, (small daily fee). Staff were excellent and Receptionists professional, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I chose to change the room I had booked and, without hesitation, this was immediately arranged. I felt very comfortable there, the rooms were clean and well serviced, and have no hesitation in booking again on my next trip to Arundel.

The hotel’s communication before my arrival was excellent—both Expedia and the hotel responded promptly to my parking inquiries with clear details, which made planning a breeze. Check-in was a highlight; I arrived early, but the friendly receptionist stored my bags and encouraged me to explore the festival, letting me know I could return after 3pm. The warm welcome set a great tone. My room had a cozy small double bed that was very comfortable, with thoughtful touches like tea/coffee facilities, a hairdryer, and delicious biscuits. The bathroom suite, though older, was recently refreshed and spotlessly clean. I loved the natural hand wash, shower gel, shampoo, and body cream provided—such a nice touch! I opted for breakfast across the road at the Motte & Bailey, which was fantastic, so I can’t comment on the hotel’s dining. The Norfolk Arms’ central location was perfect for festival events and visiting friends. Overall, the Norfolk Arms offered a welcoming and comfortable stay, ideal for solo travelers or festival-goers. The attentive service and little extras made it memorable. I’d happily return and recommend it to anyone visiting Arundel!

Nice clean room, staff at check in were friendly and helpful also the staff at breakfast.

Although the receptionist told us she had a cold I don’t feel that permitted her to be rude. From check in when the booking was clearly in my name she looked past me & asked my partner for the car reg to greeting me this morning with ‘Oh God’!!! The room was comfortable but the plug didn’t work so my bath wouldn’t run out. Someone was cleaning at 640am. It’s so central & so convenient, might I suggest if staff are not well they stay home so we don’t upset them by existing!

Hotel manager and staff were amazing. We changed room and they were so helpful and accomadating Definately recomend the hotel, worth more than 5 stars for everything. Would certainly stay there again

I loved my room at the very top of the hotel, it was very comfortable and had windows on both sides. I was told it was top floor without lifts, and I was fine with this. I loved all the paintings, antique furniture and knock knacks around the public areas, and there was real character to the place The reception staff were extremely friendly and pleasant. I felt completely safe and comfortable as a solo traveller.

Great location for visiting the castle and the town. Overall, a very pleasant place to stay. (Note that whilst Wi-Fi was available in common areas in the hotel, it was not in our room which was a minor inconvenience).

Lovely old charm hotel in the centre of Arundel. Different bars and snugs. Excellent food both at breakfast and in the restaurant.

This may sound silly but the room we got did not match the picture. I was looking forward to the cute photo room and instead we were in the auxiliary section which was far more utilitarian. The place was clean and tidy and staff helpful for depositing our bags when we arrived early. The roast beef sunday dinner was plentiful and tasty. Not sure about the yorkshire pudding thing, would have preferred a roll.

The property is historic and somewhat quirky but really enjoyable. The staff were great and the Sunday Roast was delicious.

The reception and breakfast room staff were friendly and helpful. I was able to get a gluten free breakfast with gluten free sausages, toast and cereal. The only choice for a gluten free evening meal in the restaurant was a burger (no roll) and salad or soft cheese and salad. The waiter seemed surprised when we said we'd leave it. I ate at one of the local pubs who were able to provide several choices of meals with gluten free chips and a gluten free roll for the burger.
