This hotel has a bar which serves small plates but no restaurant. Breakfast is a buffet which is ok. The staff are helpful & very friendly. The room is modern & well equipped. All in all a convenient hotel with nice view over the canal. Would be improved by providing a restaurant & room service.

In all the stay was very good and I couldn’t fault the hotel, would definitely stay here again. Great location surrounded by shops and restaurants and only 5-10 minute walk from the Bullring. Only issues I had were parking was a bit limited due to the hotel not having its own parking so had to park in the mailbox car park. This was quite expensive even with a discount from the hotel. It also isn’t very clear where the entrance to the car park is located. The other issue was the fire alarm went off at 8am for 10-20 seconds. Not the way you want to be woken up in the morning.

The hotel is in a great position, but there is lack of information from the hotel. We had been out to a play and thought we will get room service when we get back. Asked the receptionist, did they have a menu and got the red pony it’s on your TV. Ok went up to the room, took a good 10mins to find it due to the controls not working well and the cleaners knocking the lead out. Then to find they don’t do room service, they use Deliveroo which stopped at 11pm. Why the lady didn’t tell me on reception at the time, so we could have gone out for dinner. The whole time I have been travelling I have never known a hotel not to have orange juice at breakfast. I know this is a first world problem, but they are charging for the service.

Reception just seemed a bit offish. Gym pretty limited the safe didn’t work though that got put right on day 2 and I was offered to change rooms but I had already unpacked. The TV only had terrestrial stations so the signal wasn’t great and not many to choose from. Breakfast was ok but the coffee was probably the worst I’ve tasted! I did actually manage to enjoy my stay and most of the staff were great, but I come up to Birmingham once a year and I won’t be staying here again.

Room on the 5th floor with a canal view. Room was spotless and air conditioning was perfect as we had very warm weather this weekend. Staff were friendly and polite and we had a very warm welcome on arrival. Breakfast was lovely ….even better when we realised we could ask for fresh fried eggs. Small gym room but enough equipment to have an hour session. Security is fab as you can’t access the rooms unless you have a key card. Plenty of restaurants close by and a beautiful short walk along the canal to the Utilita arena.

Fabulous hotel. Location and canal view from bedroom wonderful. The receptionists were super friendly and the room spotlessly clean from Rumi hosekeeping . Fluffy white towels abd hot powerful showers. Most importantly a very comfy matress and crisp white bed linen.

We only stayed one night. All amazing. Great customer service and location to sightseeing. The room was spacious and bed very comfortable. The sink in the bathroom was cracked and it took time to drain. Cleaners started working around our room before 9 am and woke us up.

Found 3 hairs in the bed of the first room I was given. So gross then the room they moved us to had a dredge that didn’t work and a broken thermostat as well so the room was sweltering. Difficult to access entrance, you have to drag bags up a large exterior staircase. Very very average at best. Uncomfortable bed too. Sorry Marriott but I would never stay there again.

in room wall socket on desk was faulty, Mini fridge was extremely noisy and kept me awake. Eventually got annoyed enough to pull the power socket out! Breakfast was mediocre at best and coffee was almost on par with the brown water you get from Greggs.

Hotel was in a good location. I reserved a king bed for my wife and I. This was two twins pushed together. Not exactly a comfortable bed. Property was clean and staff was helpful.

I normally stay in this hotel in Birmingham city Centre. Unfortunately, my stay wasn't as pleasant on this occasion. During the night I discovered the air-conditioning was centrally managed and I wasn't able to cool the room. I was also unable to open any window or door, which I have been able to do in other rooms at previous days. This unfortunately made it a very unpleasant day for me.

Stayed at this hotel for one night. Location was fine with lots of a bars and restaurants close by. On arrival we were told we had been upgraded to a superior room which was nice. On entering the room the disappointment was instant! The bed legs were broken and the bed creaked and moved. The mattress was worn out and it felt like you were rolling into the middle. The terrible looking pvc leather sofa was worn out and looked like a cat had been scratching at the arms! The bed base looked dirty and the room was dull and very beige! Breakfast was poor, greasy and luke warm. Not what I would expect from a Marriott and having stayed in a premier inn two weeks prior for three nights it is nowhere near the quality of its cheaper alternatives. Save yourself some money and stay elsewhere!

Business trip stay over four nights. First time at this hotel. In general good, clean and comfortable in a vibrant part of Birmingham. Rooms on the roadside can be noisy with road noise etc. No carpets so can hear people above walking around if in shoes. Also rooms not as well soundproofed as other hotels I have stayed at. Breakfast is okay (not great) - plenty of options nearby if you don’t want to stop in. Bar service could have been better in terms of numbers of staff serving.

Fantastic hotel in a fantastic location. Just make sure that you don't make a mistake on your booking as you won't get any help. I accidently booked the wrong dates and was offered no help whatsoever to change it back. I've stayed here several times and love the hotel. I was therefore, thoroughly disappointed that I was offered no options to make the changes I required. I offered to pay the difference to cover any losses that the hotel would incur, but this made no difference. It was ultimately my mistake and therefore my problem, but customer service is often measured when things don't go to plan. The company policy around such incidents is poor, in my opinion. It is a great shame as I really like the hotel. The staff on reception during the nights we did stay, were great.

The hotel was in a great location, was clean and staff were helpful but they had to be helpful to resolve regular mistakes of their colleagues. This made the hotel seem less professional. We arrived at our room but someone was in there so due to their mistake we got upgraded to a room with a view. Then the staff member only booked us in the room for one night so our room cards didnt let us access the room so we had to go back downstairs where another member of staff booked us correctly in the room. They said this had happened to a few people that night. Didn't get car park discount as the link didn't work in the email so didn't know the discount code. Hotel said they couldn't give me the discount as I had already paid the full price - fair enough but if I had been given the discount code when booking then I wouldn't have paid the full price. A lovely hotel, just need to train staff better so they make less mistakes.

Really disgusted with the hotels impersonal approach. With the current situations in many major cities, my wife, (a pwerson of colour) was too worried to visit Birmingham as planned. We spoke to the hotel, who were extremely cold, unhelpful and had no care of our situation. We requested a refund and was flatly declined. Quoting policy, with no human sense or reasonning is something that I find awful. I will not be using this chain in thecfuture

Lee ,has been absolutely five star treatment: Did not appreciate the newcomer Adam was in his infancy as he came across as an individual who has worked within the hospitality sector for many years . Unfortunately the room we were originally placed in didn’t have a working tv but the night manager Lee was extremely polite and apologetic and sorted the issue promptly. He compensated us for the inconvenience. and promptly managed to move us to another room which has a working tv. He was so kind and made sure to do all he could to enable we had a good stay, which we did. The hotel was clean and all the staff were lovely. Definitely somewhere I would stay again.

This is a convenient location with comfortable rooms and facilities. I did not eat there in the evening. I was surprised on arrival at 19.15h to be told that my room was not ready. After another staff member was consulted, the room was provided. I did not use the cited car park, but noticed that the traffic in surrounding streets was gridlocked for much of the day. This was particularly bad at 7-9pm on Friday night.

Well located close to the canals and The Mailbox mall. A good 10 minute walk to the bullring. Plenty of restaurants on the doorstep. Not far from Broad Street. Comfortable overall, what you see is what you get. Modern style but a little bit corporate as expected. Room was a touch warm despite air con, which turns off half way through the night. Would stay again.

Stayed just the one night , but the hotel is in the perfect location for going to concerts , bars and restaurants, the staff were so friendly and helpful, out twin room was excellent,next time visiting Birmingham will definitely stay here again.

Staff were great however I felt the images on the site were misleading- I booked a room with a queen bed, the bed was a normal double, the leather sofa was really scratched up and damaged looking, the tv remote had battery salt coming out of it (they did replace the remote), just was a bit shabby and disappointing considering I paid £261 for a night there. Additionally the images made it look like a massive breakfast buffet but there was not much choice at all and the quality wasn’t great. So the service was friendly and great and can’t fault it but the room and general hotel was not to the standard I expected for the price I paid unfortunately. It had a nice bathroom and wasn’t the worst but I would not pay that price for that room again.

in room wall socket on desk was faulty, Mini fridge was extremely noisy and kept me awake. Eventually got annoyed enough to pull the power socket out! Breakfast was mediocre at best and coffee was almost on par with the brown water you get from Greggs.

Our stay at the hotel was generally pleasant, thanks to the excellent reception staff and the cleanliness and comfort of our room. However, we encountered some issues during breakfast. The restaurant was understaffed, with only one person managing all the service. We faced difficulties such as a malfunctioning coffee machine, and essentials like sugar and butter running out without being refilled. It was challenging to place our order as we had to actively seek the waitress’s attention. Additionally, the dish we received did not match its description, and we were advised to modify it ourselves using buffet items, which was impractical. When I expressed these concerns to the waitress, her response lacked an apology and focused on the challenges of managing the service single-handedly during a busy period. I believe these areas could greatly benefit from attention and improvement.

Really great stay! The staff were all helpful and professional and the breakfast team were especially good accommodating one of the party who is celiac with a great breakfast of bacon and eggs cooked separately and served directly to the table. The buffet breakfast was also brilliant and with lots of choice! Really would recommend staying here.

The hotel is ideally located not too far from Broad street and has a wide variety of pubs and restaurants in the vicinity. The Hotel has a pleasant reception and bar area, although it does lack some natural light. This doesn't cause an issue just an observation. The hotel rooms are very comfortable and include a fridge for personal use, which is great. The hotel bar is open until late which is very convenient if you fancy a night cap. You can park within the Mailbox building with a reduced fee with a code from the hotel. However be careful on the post code they send you for directions as it's wrong and you end up in the back of some hotel! Look up Q Parks in the mailbox on google and use that post code.
