Wotton House

Wonderfull hotel, in a gorgeous setting, withs bags of character. Very friendly reception staff and tasty, fresh food in the restaurant. The room could haven a bit modernised, but i keeping with the overall experiense and setting, that was not an issue. Only thing which really let it down somewhat was some of the inexperienced / unhelpfull staff in the bar and restaurant.

OK, this is a lovely hotel in a lovely setting. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were generally friendly and helpful. Three minor niggles: 1) While the staff were friendly and helpful, there weren't enough of them. Service in the bar and restaurant varied from slow to non-existent. 2) The car park is too small for the number of guests. 3) On the day I was there, there fire alarm must have gone off at least five times. As the hotel was still standing the next morning I assume this was a fault. So, not perfect, but would I stay there again? Definitely.

Really lovely hotel , staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our 3 nights stay and we are hoping to come back again soon. I loved everything about Wotton Hotel, worth going for a walk around Wotton Estate it’s like breath of fresh air. Last but not least the food!! It was so delicious ,roasted cauliflower soup, the bread 😋 and the pork shoulder and tender loin was superb. So as the steak.

The building and estate make a strong first impression. The grounds look impressive and well maintained. The setting also suits weddings, conferences, and private events. With the right investment in staff training and stronger service standards, the property holds strong potential as a venue for larger functions. During the first evening of my three night stay, I ordered fish and chips at the bar. The fish arrived raw in the middle. I informed the staff and they prepared another portion. The replacement meal arrived properly cooked, yet the service style differed. The first plate arrived with knife and fork only, with no napkin. The second arrived with utensils wrapped in a linen napkin and staff offered extra condiments. This difference in presentation created an inconsistent service experience. The room was clean and met a standard layout. It included a desk, television, and ironing facilities. The steam iron showed wear and the water canister cover was missing. This raised concerns about routine checks of in room equipment and overall maintenance. The bathroom was functional but basic. A shaving or swing arm mirror would improve usability. Breakfast included a typical English breakfast along with granola, cereals, and bread options. The selection remained the same each morning. For a three night stay, a small rotation or variation would improve the experience.

Loved my one-night Sunday stay here with my sister. Our twin room was very comfy. Enjoyed the pool, the restaurant and the gorgeous gardens. They obviously had more guests than they were staffed for in the restaurant. We really enjoyed our relaxed evening meal, but a lot of other guests were moaning and breakfast the next morning was shambolic. I must mention quite how wonderful the maintenance staff were when I realised that my electric car battery had drained completely overnight. They don't have a charger and mobile reception is poor. The staff helped me to start charging the battery, which involved googling how to gain access to the boot, charging cable and charging port by activating the secret sequence of button presses to unlock the car when it did not respond to the key.
