The hotel is in a good central location beside the cathedral. Parking in minimal only space for about 10 cars. We had to park in the high street but arrived late on a Saturday evening so it was free. There is a public car park nearby. Our welcome was great even though we had to check in late. Everything was explained well we were able to book breakfast on our arrival. We stayed in one of the stable block rooms. It was smart clean comfortable and warm. We were a bit concerned about security as the room opens out onto the public accessible courtyard, but there was a good solid lock on the door. Breakfast was well worth the £7.99 each … a full cooked breakfast and continental buffet. Quality of food excellent and the staff friendly and attentive. We had a very pleasant ant relaxing stay.

Idea location but limited parking. Very old building in need of outside repairs. No lift and being on the second floor was difficult with luggage. But very clean and tidy, staff very helpful. Could not fault the service.

We had a small double on the 2nd floor. Nb no lift. Room was newly decorated, newly carpeted and the bathroom suite had new tiling. Linen was of a good quality. Bar/restaurant was very busy but rooms were quiet and warm. At this price point and in the centre of Ely it was unbeatable. Nb the hotel car park was tiny but public parking in Ely is, free so we used a nearby car park.

Absolutely loved our overnight stay here. So central. The most dog friendly place we've ever stayed. Staff were great, huge room, lovely bar and restaurant areas. Food and drink was excellent and really good value.

Our room was great, and the restaurant at the hotel was excellent. Ely Cathedral was mere steps away. Our biggest challenge was the small, tight parking lot at the hotel.

Breakfast was lovely, parking seemed ok, nothing to worry about there. could have done milk and biscuits in the room for the morning cuppa. Didn't know there was no lift! being 70 I did hot like the stairs. Other than that it was lovely and would return for another stay....Oh and the evening meal was wonderful.

Stayed for 2 nights and booked a double room, though I got a king size bed with a seating area. Most important the bathroom was clean! Bed was comfy and room was reasonably quiet. Also had tv, tea & coffee, fan, iron…a lovely room. Managed to get a space in the free car park at the back of the hotel. Paid for breakfast - the full English was delicious and well worth the money. Also ate in the pub & restaurant - pub style menu, but the food was good. Noticed there are a few other places to eat nearby too. Location is great. Ely Cathedral is just down the street, Oliver Cromwell’s house a short distance and the lovely riverside a 15 minute walk away. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and service was excellent. I’d stay here again.

Staff were very welcoming and polite. My room was clean and comfortable. Good range of food available at breakfast. There are areas of the hotel that are looking a little tired, and my poached eggs were overdone at breakfast, but on the whole I’m happy with the venue.

The room was clean and everything worked. Hotel located near cathedral and shops. Staff were friendly and professional. Breakfast was very nice with quality ingredients and good choice. Small parking area which was full but there is a car park nearby which is free for 2 hours. Would stay again

Pros: location, history of building, comfort of bed. Impressive water pressure for 2nd floor. Nice tea setup with biscuits. Great blackout curtains: I didn’t even realize there were streetlights outside my window until I opened the curtains at night. Neutral: Has a physical key, not a keycard, which makes no difference to me. Window opens a little and you can request a fan. Cons: not very clean-looking. Carpet clearly needs to be deep cleaned or replaced. Bathroom looks like it was renovated in the last 5 years, but they ran out of money before they could finish the floor. (Found a couple stray hairs that suggested they also could do a better job cleaning in general…) For me, the location and the charm of the building outweighed the cons. The location really can’t be beat. It’s right in the center of the city so you can walk anywhere. It’s on the high street so it is practically next door to several coffee shops and eateries. One building away from the cathedral, one street away from the Ely Museum, a 5-minute walk from Oliver Cromwell’s house, which is both a museum and the visitor’s center. Staff very good especially the young girl on reception who did my check-in / out. But unfortunately my room was roasting hot on 10/9/23 which meant I didn't get any sleep at all hardly....A fan was provided but it was just circulating the hot air around the room..the window would only open a few inches which also very poor . The room was also very dated decor wise especially the bathroom very poor. Parking at hotel very good although limited.

The staff, location and food were great. Unfortunately the room (19) was too hot and windows are not allowed to be opened. This caused an uncomfortable nights rest. There was a fan but it was too noisy to leave on during the night. The double bed was small more a three quarter size so sleeping was not good. If visiting Ely Cathedral this hotel is a perfect location. Before booking I would try to get a ground floor room for access to fresh air and also to check re the bed size. It would have been a perfect stay if the rooms were more comfortable to rest in

The stay was comfortable, my only comment being that it would have been good to be able to open the window a fraction for a fresh draught of air as it was so swelteringly hot at night at the top of the building. Thank you for the fan which made it bearable.

The Lamb Hotel has been there for donkey's years and it shows. The downstairs bar, dinning area is quite smart, pleasant to be in and has obviously had a few quid spent on it. The rooms or at least the room we had was pretty average. Plumbing, shower, bathroom must have been installed in the 70s. Out shower did not work at all and there is no maintenance on at the weekend. The staff did offer us a change of room but we couldn't be doing the disruption. The staff on the other hand were excellent. Checkin was easy, bar staff very good and cleaning staff, never seemed to stop working. All in all a good stay and I wouldn't want to put anyone off this hotel because it's ok but the Savoy it is not. It would need a very large investment to bring the rooms up to a good standard, a lick of paint won't cut it but all in all it does the job.

My son and I stayed at The Lamb for two nights while visiting Ely. What a great spot. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we could have a laugh with them. The food in the pub is second to no one. We sampled many of the offerings and it was all exceptional. I can't say enough good things about The Lamb.

Trying to be fair with this review but it wasnt without hiccups. The hotel manager was very professional and friendly. The facilities probably need a bit of a refresh but overall cleanliness seemed good. Location was perfect but there isnt enough on site parking which is a shame. We were dissapointed the restaurant/bar wasn't more accommodating. We wanted a quick drink after checking in, there wasnt any room in the bar and we were told we weren't able to sit in the (half empty) restaurant without ordering food. Worst thing about the night was being woken up at 2am in the morning by an extremely drunk guest who was lost and tried to get into our room. There was no obvious way to get in touch with the night porter, so we had at least 30 minutes of distuption before he was led away. I assume this was a one off, and would probably stay again.
Trying to be fair with this review but it wasnt without hiccups. The hotel manager was very professional and friendly. The facilities probably need a bit of a refresh but overall cleanliness seemed good. Location was perfect but there isnt enough on site parking which is a shame. We were dissapointed the restaurant/bar wasn't more accommodating. We wanted a quick drink after checking in, there wasnt any room in the bar and we were told we weren't able to sit in the (half empty) restaurant without ordering food. Stayed for 2 nights and booked a double room, though I got a king size bed with a seating area. Most important the bathroom was clean! Bed was comfy and room was reasonably quiet. Also had tv, tea & coffee, fan, iron…a lovely room. Managed to get a space in the free car park at the back of the hotel. Paid for breakfast - the full English was delicious and well worth the money. Also ate in the pub & restaurant - pub style menu, but the food was good. Noticed there are a few other places to eat nearby too. Location is great. Ely Cathedral is just down the street, Oliver Cromwell’s house a short distance and the lovely riverside a 15 minute walk away. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and service was excellent. I’d stay here again.

This was a short break mainly to reacquaint ourselves with the cathedral which is only yards away from the Lamb. However we had time to spend seeing more of Ely but also to visit Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge which are easily reached by rail from Ely.

The Lamb is literally about 20-30 seconds walk from Ely Cathedral! It's a heritage building which has some unique character. Very nice rooms (I stayed in Room 1, good size for solo travellers or a couple). Good facilities and room amenities: kettle/tea/coffee, iron/board/hangers/shelves, telly, desk, toiletries, towels, etc. I did have a bit of an issue with the toilet as it was not flushing too well first day, but that was fixed by staff. Very convenient location: cathedral is literally next door; but also Ely train station, a coach/bus stop and a large Tesco are all about 10-12mins walk away! There is a high street area in front of the hotel, so there is some street noise during certain times of the day and evening, but I did not find it too loud or busy.

The Lamb is a fine hotel in the heart of Ely. The staff were reliably helpful, polite, and skilled. The room was clean, comfortable and big enough for me and my wife. Breakfast was well done, we had the "Full English" a couple of times and "Continental" (Cereal, fruit, yogurt) other times. Coffee was good. The dinners were ample, prepared properly and served promptly. The beer variety was good and the bartenders helpful and quick. The location of the Lamb was perfect for me. The deservedly famous Ely Cathedral (includes a Stained Glass museum) was a block away and the Ely Museum was a block in the other directions. Many shops and places to eat were nearby. The town itself is quite charming. My only concern re: the Lamb was the bathtub/shower. The tub itself seems too narrow and slippery - it felt a little unsafe for this 'in-shape' 71 year old (I'm guessing the tub is an old one that's been "redone". A much smaller issue = the instructions on how to operate the shower were incomplete.

Breakfast was the best thing about our stay. The rooms are basic but clean and fairly comfortable. No air conditioning and they have locks on the window allowing you to open it about 5 inches. Parking is very tight and limited (about 10 parking spaces). Staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. I would stay there again but not in the summer. Amazing breakfast, part continental with fresh pastries and fruit. Cooked to order hot food was great. The bar has good beer selection and mixed drinks. Dinner was very good.

The breakfast was 1st class but the choice of real ale (even Greene King) in the bar was very poor. As Greene King is supposed to be one the country's best brewers, to only have one beer (Abbott) on was not good enough. As a result, We dined elsewhere.

Hotel is right next to the cathedral, parking on a one way street that you have to go round the block to get to. The room was nice. The pub was full of beer flies and the risotto I was served was raw (picture attached). They didn't charge me for it, but I would rather have had a cooked meal! Breakfast was nice.

Great position but not the most attractive place, hot rooms but the fan supplied was great, although the windows barely open, the corridor during the day was cooler and fluid dynamics worked well by opening and closing the door 8 times greatly cooled the room A real bonus was the bed was extremely comfortable.
