We loved our stay at this gorgeous boutique hotel. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. We especially enjoyed the social hour in the library. The location made it easy to leave our vehicle and walk around. The room was clean, spacious, and relaxing. We appreciated all the amenities the hotel had to offer. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

This hotel was well maintained, staff very accommodating. The only thing you need to be aware of is being historical buildings, there is no elevator so be prepared to climb the stairs which are fairly narrow and steep. The staff are more than willing to assist with luggage. The happy hour is a nice touch. Location is great. Near to the wharf and many dining options nearby.

This is a beautiful property in a convenient location in downtown Halifax. It is a historical property that feels very cozy and upscale. Tastefully and meticulously decorated and clean as a whistle. There is a beautiful shady garden out back where you can sit and enjoy a coffee or a happy hour drink. Parking on-site is free but a bit cramped, but their overflow lot (also free) is just a block away and I actually preferred it. The breakfast selection is a great value! $15 per person, and you can choose up to 5 items: different types of bagels, yogurt parfaits, banana bread, hard boiled egg, juice ... we couldn't finish it! If we're back in Halifax I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

This property has 3 buildings, beautifully restored historical sites. We were in the one farthest from the main site. We booked the last room, in the basement with some trepidation. There are (non-opening) windows, so there is light. The room was spacious, but had a double bed. The first night there was an overpowering musty odour. There was no visible mold. There was a dehumidifier in the hallway. It did a good job in clearing out the musty odour in the hallway & our room on the 2nd day. The hotel management would be well served to run the dehumidifier in the basement rooms before guests arrive, as the door is very off-putting.

We stayed in a floor level/basement room. Smelled horribly of must/mildew. A dehumidifier in the hallway could have helped. I realize it’s a very old property… still. Service at front desk was fantastic. Would stay again and this time would ask for a room on a higher floor to see if it’s better overall.

There was a mouse in my room the first night. I was immediately moved to another room on the lower level which was unbearably hot (in February). Nothing could be done to control the heat as it was central heating. I canceled my 2nd night and was only charged for half the night.

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times. Whenever I stay here, I feel like I am staying at a friends house. The rooms just feel so homey and cozy. A little bit outdated but I think it lends to the charm of the inn. When you walk in to the main building (there are 3 buildings in total), there is a super cozy library room with a fire place and you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine or a cup of coffee. The hotel and rooms are very clean. I have always received great customer service. I really love the location of this hotel as it is within walking distance to the waterfront. This hotel feels like it is a 10 minute walk from almost everything - Spring Garden Road, restaurants, and the VG Hospital. It's in a great location. The only downfall for some people might be that there is not an elevator in any of the 3 buildings.

The hotel was exactly what we were looking for as it is a beautiful old building and not your typical hotel. The only downside is that there are no black out shades so it is very bright in the morning. Beds are comfortable and everything is clean. Location is perfect to walk down to the waterfront and tons of great restaurants near by.

Our bedroom was stuffed with an excess of furniture: 5 chairs and a 3-person sofa. Where these to place the excess of pillows and cushions on? Then the bed was crammed under a low ceiling with 2 giant bedside tables to injure oneself on during the night. Make the room more practical (more power points!) with less emphasis on decoration.

Rooms are pleasant and clean but small (we stayed in a standard queen). No electrical outlets bedside to charge your phone which was annoying. On Saturday night, noise from the music venue nearby kept us awake.

Booked multiple rooms. Had to cancel one room upon arrival as an elderly patron had to be taken to the hospital. Asked for understanding with regards to the last mini cancellation. Manager stated “That’s your problem, not mine.” Refused to cancel and refund. We realize this is a business but there are time’s unfortunate circumstances happen. Front desk lady ended up selling our room to someone else which was appreciated and we ended up not being charged.

Staff was ready to let me sleep outdoors in snow storm because i didn’t have credit card as i come from country where credit cards do not exist and my stay was paid online then they asked me for 400$ deposit , for 2 star hotel. Unreal and inhuman, if i didn’t have emergency funds I would have spent the night outside in the storm even after I paid my stay

This is place is so very quaint and comfortable, it put a smile on my face from the moment I walked in. The staff are super helpful. There are lovely seating areas to meet friends or eat my own lunch. The rooms are well-appointed and beautifully decorated. It's close to everything a tourist would want to see in downtown Halifax. The Halliburton was perfect for my needs. I highly recommend it. Only drawback would be for those who are mobility-challenged, since there are several flights of stairs to walk up and down, no elevator.

After parking behind the hotel I went to the lobby and was able to check in early … staff were great and even helped me take my luggage upstairs to my room. Room was excellent … large, clean, comfy and quiet. Area around the hotel was very walkable … staff gave me recommendations for bars and restaurants to visit.

A little gem close to so many of Halifax’s tourist stops. Loved the quiet patio in the back… a lovely place to pause from all of the walking we did. We took advantage of the pre-ordered $15 breakfast option and it was more than enough food for two each morning. Highly recommend this boutique hotel.

Everything was lovely and the staff were very kind and accommodating. The only drawback (and it’s not the worst thing, just unexpected) is that there was a charge for breakfast. I had been under the impression that the continental breakfast was included in our Expedia price package.

The hotel is very charming, beautifully appointed. Room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, the "fireplace" heater a wonderful touch in the sitting room. The location is great, walking distance to the boardwalk, Neptune theater, as well as lots of great restaurants and shopping. Staff was very friendly and wonderfully accommodating. We had a wonderful relaxing long weekend there. We lucked out with parking for the whole weekend, but there are very limited spots at the building itself. One drawback is no elevator (our room was on second floor), so if that is a concern, make sure to ask for a room on the first floor. The only big negative was the restaurant/bar was closed. When we booked, we were not made aware of this. We have friends in Halifax, and we'll definitely be staying here again.
