Upon arrival we’re told that our reservation had been cancelled! I had booked and received a confirmation for our one night stay. I showed the advance paid reservation confirmation to the desk clerk and she called in her manager to consult. The manager brushed aside my confirmation and reiterated that it was cancelled. She then told me that, fortunately, they had a room available for the night but I would have to pay their nightly rate which was considerably higher than my original reservation. I feel that Lord Nelson should have honored the confirmation that I had in hand, but I paid it. The hotel is beautiful and meticulously maintained. Breakfast at the restaurant was excellent. Parking is convenient and worth the extra fee. Located only a couple of blocks from the Citadel and easily walkable to restaurants and the waterfront.
