Great location and friendly/amazing staff. No elevator in the exterior building where out room was so if you have a lot of gear or have acccessibility requirements, note this barrier. The rooms right across from the main street can hear all the rowdy sounds from the bars and restaurant patios across the street. But during the low season, the noise died down early enough. Note for light sleepers. Otherwise, had excellent sleep.

The hotel itself is great. Room cleanliness misses on key points. Shower fan vent extremely dirty, caked with dust. Hairdryer filter/screen extremely caked with dust; hairdryer running much too hot with little air coming out. Room heater vents caked with dust. As you walk down the hallway you can see these heaters in each room and they are all dirty/dusty. All rooms are on the second floor, but there is no elevator. The hotel claims to offer parking, but it is shared with a busy store, so you may have to park on the street.

Nice location right off the main beach walkway and very close to the main downtown block. Very basic furnishings but clean bathroom and comfy bed. We left some items in the room and they kindly shipped them for us for a small fee. Wifi wasn't very good despite our room being close to the lobby.

We had room 112, outside the window were what I think are Air Con motors, the noise was unbearable, this meant a totally sleepless night for myself and my wife.These rooms should be booked out last, especially when the hotel wasnt full.We booked weeks ago and should have been advised of the noise.

Absolute beachfront is very accurate. Our level 3 room looked straight out to the ocean. Really large modern room. King bed, three comfortable lounge chairs. Couldn't have asked for anything better. Across the road in the other direction is a large NW supermarket, liquor store and all the restaurants Hokitika has to offer. We looked at a couple of other properties that rated 10 out of 10 but the ratings weren't accurate and they were little more than your average small rooms and they were located a few blocks out of town so maybe consider your own due diligence when looking for somewhere to stay in Hokitika.

On arrival we had an issue with our room and it was dealt with immediately moving us to a much nicer room. Staff were pleasant to deal with and we had a very comfortable stay. Would happily stay again.

Beachfront Hotel is absolute beachfront. Walking distance to all amenities - cafes, restaurants, supermarket, beach walks. Terrific to have an on site laundry when you are travelling around New Zealand. Highy recommend this hotel.

Great location, right on the beach, walkable to town. Everything was straightforward, clean, quiet. No air conditioning, but I didn't need it, and there was a fan if the ocean breeze was insufficient. The king-sized mattress had a seam down the middle, like 2 twins put together, but was stil pretty comfortable.

The staff at this hotel were amazing, friendly and professional. We stayed in the driftwood rooms which are cheaper. There was easy parking in the hotel car park. The rooms were clean, tidy and functional. We dined in the Ocean View restaurant and the food and drink were exceptional, one of the best meals I have had whilst in New Zealand. The staff were very attentive. In the evening you can see nice sunset views from the hotel, from the restaurant and the beach and shops are only a short walk from the hotel.

This is a good hotel albeit expensive. I have rated the service poor as we had a bad experience when trying to book in the hotel for dinner ie a normal thing you would do all over the world? We were advised that they only take bookings for 6+ people but we would be ok for just the 2 of us. On arrival at the restaurant for 8pm we were told they were full but we could come back in an hour but couldn’t guarantee us a table! It’s basic hotel hospitality to look after the guests 1st? I fully accept that the business wants to maximise its profitability but the management policy here is just wrong! I felt that the 2 ladies on reception were embarrassed by this but there was nothing they could do - an apology would have been a start. A South African Management company seems to be taking over the town so expect the customer last (not 1st) policy to spread throughout this quaint town! Caveat Emptor!
