Check in was quick and easy. The room is a great size, with lots of things literally at your door step. There’s a heated pool, spa, sauna and gym. There’s lots of cafe/restaurants near the precinct that you can charge to your room. Would definitely stay again.

Nice property which is centrally located and within walking distance to shopping, a variety of dining options, transportation and a casino. I appreciated their pool and sauna but was disappointed by their hot tub. It was warm but none of the jets were working.

No one cleaned the room. Also spoke to reception and they sent no one up. We had two kids under 3 and the rubbish can pile up with nappies etc. Staff weren’t friendly either.

I was extrememly disappointed with the housekeeping during my stay.The cleaning team literally pulled the top cover over the crumpled sheets - no proper remaking of the bed. I took a photo as evidence.

The people in the next room were so noisy, and had been drinking heaps. My elderly wife and myself felt very unsafe at night, as our room had a connecting door to the noisy room I could not hear the TV at times due to the behavior of the next room. Won't be coming back as the stay was for a special occasion for us both.

Amazing views, great hosts, prime location. We were offered a free upgrade to the 20th floor with harbour views. It was just amazing. We ended up spending more time in the hotel because of it.

The hotel was fantastic and the staff were wonderful. However, the blinking LED lights on the smoke detector right above the bed were quite disturbing at night and made it hard to sleep. Also, the bathtub faucet didn’t close completely, and the toilet tank started refilling by itself every five minutes, which was a bit annoying.

Although two guests checked in, only one bathrobe was provided in the room. There were also no toothbrushes—while I understand that many hotels in New Zealand may not offer these by default, most five-star hotels do provide them without request. Additionally, the air conditioning was very noisy. Even though we set it to 24°C and on auto mode, the room temperature actually dropped from 21°C (when we entered) to 20.5°C. It didn’t warm up as expected, and there was no clear option to switch it to heating manually. The auto function didn’t seem to work at all.

The attitude from the grand staff has been increasingly disappointing. As a returning customer and a regular, I’m disappointed each time that details of my booking have been declined. Also- my partner was denied entry to my room even though I specifically told them to valet park my car and to have a key ready for him. He had to call me while I was in the middle of a conference and I had to step out and remind the staff that we both had access to the room. We were charged incorrectly for breakfast, and had to have it all removed from the bill. It was… very frustrating to say the least. I’ve complained before and received an apology by the manager but it’s all lip service at this point- I need to see a change in behaviour. I am a regular but I’m not sure I’ll be back to be honest. Service is important to me and the service at the grand is below average.

Staff here are amazing! They let us store our luggage and use the pool area until our room was ready! Also they were great at helping with parking etc. rooms are very nicely appointed. Lots of restaurants and a casino too.

When checking into the hotel at the designated check in time at 3pm, we found it wasn’t ready until 3.30. After waiting in the lobby for half an hour to be told our room was ready, we went and asked how much longer it was going to be & the lady said that the room was ready but we hadn’t been told (this made us late for our reservation at 4pm). When we got to the room, the mini bar was not refilled. Someone came to the room later on to refill the fridge but had forgotten most of the things to top it up, so again we called to get it refilled but by this time we were ready to go to bed.

Hotel was in a great location, and unit was clean and well equipped. My only complaint is that we were misdirected by the concierge as to the location for picking up the airport shuttle. As a result, we missed our scheduled shuttle. I wrote to the hotel about this issue, with no return response.

Front of house were OK. But the checkin was transactional. I've already provided feedback about the breakfast in my previous survey - however I'd not recommend it for what it costs. And for $45 it doesn't even include a flat white - filter coffee and an average buffet (cold bacon, mashed up baked beans.... omelette which I don't think had been seasoned). Checkut was good. Pleasant and took my feedback about breakfast well. My room was apparently an upgrade, but looking directly into other Sky City hotel rooms wasn't appropriate, so it was curtains closed whenever in the room. OK if you don't want natural light. My room was 'cleaned' on my first day, however there were used towels and wet flannels left in the room and an empty soap bottle in the shower. Great location for restaurants and entertainment. Great meal at The Depot (one of their restaurants). Makes me wonder why they can't replicate the same value for their breakfast buffet. I stay at other hotels in the Auckland CBD, and I'd recommend them over The Grand by Sky City if you're watching your budget and are looking for value for money.

Fint værelse på 20. etage. God seng og dejligt brusebad og karbad. Rigtig god morgenmad. Men mangler en glutenfri station med andet end det toastbrød du kan få. Måske en muffin og mere brød at vælge mellem. Men et stort plus at der er skilte ved den varme mad.

The buffet breakfast for the cost and NO included flat white is appalling! The hotel needs to understand that the breakfast is nearly the last impression a guest may leave with. I’d not recommend it.
