Novotel Christchurch Airport

The overnight stay was fine. Had an early flight in the morning and location was excellent. Room was great, beds were very comfortable. Had dinner at the Exchange - was nice $30 Parking even though we stayed the night and had dinner there...free if we'd just gone for dinner!!

Room service was delivered by a robot machine carting food. Super unique and very interactive.

The staff were great, the room and services offered were excellent. The only area for improvement is the drinking-water process, other than the bathroom basin there is no drinking water supply. You have to go out to the elevators on your floor to refill water yourself, or call room service and pay $12 per litre (reference: room service menu). The round trip from our room—located at the far end of the building—to the dispenser took nearly five minutes, and the jugs provided only held one litre.

Lack of suitable parking.

No Business Office for using a computer to print documents. The sixth floor dining area was great. Buffet breakfast buffet was outstanding.

Novotel is at the top of its game. Friendly, welcoming staff, great architecture, well appointed rooms, and a great rooftop bar/restaurant overlooking the runway. It’s immediately adjacent to the airport which was perfect after a 12 hr international flight.

Only stayed whilst waiting for our next day flights but was a great hotel. Staff were great, hotel is very modern and clean without much noise from the airport. Gym is pretty good albeit a little small but had no issues with waiting for equipment, equipment is modern and is very clean in there with towels provided. Couldn't fault the place really! Love that the hotel is pretty much 100 metres from the doors to the terminal, definitely would recommend. Stayed here on two occasions over the duration of our holiday and both times were great! Rooms are really clean and showers are pretty good too which is a major point for me. Didn't try the restaurants so can't comment on that but judging by how good the hotel is I would imagine the food would be good too.

Restaurant was excellent. View was excellent. Two minute walk to the terminal.

Our experience with Novotel Christchurch was exceptional from check in until checkout. I travel very frequently and I can honestly say this hotel is first class all the way!

Room was clean, organized. Closest to the airport and there are buses going downtown/the city which you can use your tap credit/debit card if you don't have the metro card (i think $3/ride) The whole hotel is clean and organized. Nice amenities. Helpful staffs and they have a luggage weighing scale which so helpful.

New and very clean

The hotels location is perfect, being only a minute or two walk from the international terminal, so it’s ideal before or after a long flight (or two in our case). The number 29 bus also departs from outside the hotel and takes about 20 minutes to get into the city, costing just $3 using contactless (paywave). The hotel itself is modern, though we did find the surfaces in the room a bit dusty. Considering the distance to the airport, the external soundproofing was incredible, you could hardly hear anything. Unfortunately, the same effort wasn’t made with internal soundproofing and we often heard other room doors closing. The hotel offers a range of waters from a machine on each floor next to the lift (still, sparkling, slightly sparkling etc) and you’re given a jug in the room so this was a nice touch to help you stay hydrated before/after travelling. The breakfast was ok, there was a decent range of cooked buffet food and you can order your eggs to be cooked your way. However the continental cereal options were lacking, there was only a VERY coconutty muesli (I like coconut but this was too much) and a GF Weetabix, some different granolas and cereals would have been nice. You can order barista coffee at a cost but the filter coffee included done the job for us. I booked this hotel for our return flight, having stayed in the city on our first night we actually realised staying at this hotel would remove a massive about of stress the morning of our flight.

Property is fine. Carpets need a clean or upgrade. But ok. Enjoying the stay thanks.

Rooms are excellent! So clean and well presented

Everything was spotless, food fab and staff couldn’t have been more helpful!

Rooms just need to be cleaned properly, there was other peoples rubbish,old sock under beds and furniture.

Clean and modern. The breakfast was excellent and great value for money. Only downside was the bathroom layout in the room was very strange and meant we couldn’t close the toilet door if we wanted to hang up our towel.

I got no sleep at all, which completely destroyed the purpose of paying more for an airport hotel. The hotel is a wonderful and modern, but my room had a loud an air conditioner that is impossible to control from the room. The room does have a control panel, but pushing Off wouldn't shut off the AC and there is no way to indicate preferred fan speed. The pamphlet said that the settings are controlled centrally, and it the in-room control panels just indicate preferences. It was an awful night in a lovely place.

It’s easy to access to the airport. The room is compact, shower room has no door. One night stay is ok.

As always a great place to stay and right next to the airport. Easy check in, well fitted, spacious and comfortable rooms with a decent work area; breakfast was as good as the rest of the hotel - more than sufficient.

Clean room, great view of the airport

Milk cartons in fridge were out of date and had gone off. Room temperature thermostat did not appear to be working.

Large room with comfortable king size bed. Aeroplane noise is a problem. Ear plugs should be supplied. A blanket as well as a duvet would help overcome “overheating” from a combination of the duvet and air-conditioning. Staff were excellent as was the restaurant facility.

Wonderful room, quiet, worked extremely well for us as we had to be at the airport at 3am, so it literally took us 2 mins to get to the terminal! Highly recommended.

Great room, up graded to a room with a view of the runway. What's not to like about watching planes taking off or landing!

Great hotel in a great location - if you’re flying from Christchurch airport of course… Only negative - receptionist was surly and unfriendly. Not only at check in but on departure too. Question for her - why are you in a hospitality role?

All is ok except the staffs are rather unfriendly. We did our own check in and hoping the staffs would at least acknowledge our presence rather then giving unwelcoming look.

Wonderfully convenient location just outside the airport doors. Receptionist Aaron was warm and welcoming on our arrival and unexpectedly gave our girls some toys. Fantastic to just walk out of the airport, into the hotel room to freshen up, then upstairs for dinner. Wonderful meals. Fantastic wait staff at the restaurant. It was so smooth and professional. Will definitely be recommending.

The Staff member who checked us in was very helpful. However, the staff member who checked us out at 6am tried to charge us double for a 2 day stay we had already prepaid!

Excellent service

In all fairness I cannot rate this property. They were overbooked and displaced us at 1am when we arrived. Will not stay here again

Modern, clean, well maintained and extra friendly staff

When you arrive at 1am with a 2-year-old and are told the hotel "overbooked" (aka took airline bookings to bump average joes) it's certainly not an ideal way to start your New Zealand holiday.

The staff were professional but not overly friendly / welcoming at reception. But we had a few interactions with other service staff and they couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. We experienced a problem with the air conditioning and that was sorted well, and room service sourced/put together an ice pack for us after a niggling injury flared. It’s a good option and very convenient to the airport.

Conveniently located a short walk from the terminal. Staff and service was first class and importantly the bed was as good as I have slept in.

We had a morning flight and the hotel is just a minute's walk to airport. It is also within walking distance to international Antarctica centre, supermarket and eateries.

The hotel is located just a one-minute walk from the airport exit, making it perfect for resting after a long flight. It’s also conveniently close to the campervan rental place for the next day, so the location is excellent. Breakfast offered a decent variety of options that we could enjoy, and the reception staff were always friendly and helpful at any time of the day, making the overall service very good. The room was clean and comfortable. While bottled water is not provided in the room, there are water bottles and a water dispenser on each floor next to the elevators, and sparkling water is also available, which was a nice touch. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you need a convenient base to plan your schedule around the airport area.

Close to airport, actual it is next door to the airport, nice breakfast with lots of options

Easy walk from the airport

A real airport hotel with an easy and brief walk to the terminal. In the morning we went to the terminal to check our bag and walked back to the hotel room to shower.

Clean, well kept room as you’d expect from a ‘exec’ style hotel. Convenient for Ubers and taxis, Spitfire restaurant area is a bit of a walk but fine for distance. Could do with a bigger movie selection on the tv. Nice to have breakfast overlooking the airport

My check-in experience was great with a very friendly staff member (Molly). I enjoyed an afternoon drink in the bar and the staff member there was also great. It was the evening bar/food service that was disappointing. They seemed so disorganised and there was really no attentiveness to customers. My room (506) was really noisy. It sounded like they were moving heavy furniture above my head after 10pm at night, so I got very little sleep/rest. I would not stay on that level/at that end again, as it is clearly underneath the operational areas of the restaurant. I had hope for a restful night before a 4.30am checkout, but it was not to be.

Meal at restaurant was not up to what I would expect, ordered burger & chips off lunch menu, The beef pattie was dry & tough and no sauce, everything else was great👍

Our stay was fantastic, staff are great and friendly, rooms are clean and fresh. Breakfast has a great range and taste great. The restaurant for dinner was amazing.

Reception very attentive staff, friendly and helpful. Restaurant for dinner was very busy and a bit more service training could be done. Waiting staff should be allocated tables to look after from ordering to finish, saves orders going missing but overall food and wine were good. Walking distance to airport so much better than catching a shuttle.
