Great property in a good location in Christchurch. 10 minute walk to the riverside market. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Only downside was the parking at the property was a bit expensive. I would park in the lot across the street. Otherwise a great hotel and I would stay again!

All round good stay and handy location for town hall. Only downside was the $25 additional fee for parking on arrival. In my experience with Hotels parking for guests is usually included with the room

Easy and helpful check in with a lovely lady at the front desk. We were lucky enough to get a room upgrade since the room we booked wasn’t clean or available. Lovely quiet, clean, warm room with a beautiful outlook. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful with lovely staff. Great to have parking option available, though we were lucky to get one due to limited availability and it was at extra cost. All in all a lovely overnight get away with great access to the city centre a very short walk away.

Easy access to town - gym facilities. Bar nice. Comfortable and convenient for my 84yr old Mum and a wheelchair was available for her to use so we could take her into town easily and she could shop and go to restaurants easily. Hotel restaurant convenient and the bar good

We spent 3 nights. Very central to Christchurch CBD. Room very clean and modern. We had views out towards the 'Square'. Handy to 'New Regent Street', where you can find cafes and other food places. A short walk up New Regent street brings you to the ticket box and tram ride - very handy. This accommodation is walkable distance to places like 'Riverside' and other shopping areas. Walkable to Hagley park and the botanic gardens. Parking is next to the building - $25 per night. You pay via online, not Hotel. Margret Mahy playground close by as with Victoria park. The cons would be the lobby in the room vicinity is very noisy, and you can hear outside noise. Not noisey enough that I would not recommend or stay again myself. Buffet breakfast selection was good. Quite pricey at $35 pp, but then that is likely similar to other hotel accommodation chains. We would stay here again and recommend to family and friends.

Nice modern hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful at check-in. King standard room was a decent size and clean. The bed was comfortable and there was a pillow in case you didn’t like the rooms supplied ones. The bathroom was large with good lighting. There was a bar and restaurant on site looked good and was busy. Hotel is just a short walk to the New Regent Street precinct where there are lots of great eateries. Outdoor Parking (if available) next to the hotel at $30/night.

Fantastic hotel in a great location. Easily in walking distance to the gardens and shopping. Parking is available onsite for a price.

Handily located hotel with on- site dining. Car parking is an extra cost.

Excellent lounge

The hotel is located very close to the downtown with restaurants and cafe. Every staff I met was very friendly. Only thing was that the parking area was limited.

Clean tidy and comfortable hotel with good beds and soft bedding. All amenities you need hairdryer, good toiletries, ironing board as well as coffee making facilities. Very central in Christchurch.

Not worth the price. Cleanliness is not on the level you would expect. First room smelled moldy and in the second heating didn‘t work (as in some other rooms).

Hotel has a nice foyer area and most of the staff were friendly enough. The rooms, however, were disappointing for a Crowne Plaza hotel. Our room was dark and in need of a deep clean - dust around the edges of the carpet, mould and dirt in the shower, hairs on the bathroom floor and in the shower when we arrived. Cleaning definitely lacks attention to detail. We liked the fitness room, it was well set out with everything we needed and attached to a nice bathroom. Not sure I would spend the money to stay here again given the issues outlined. It has the potential to be so much better than it is.

Property is right across the Victoria Square and for about one mile walk you can get to the Christchurch botanical gardens and Hagley Park and the busy shopping food district. The Te Pae convention center is also next door. The hotel staff is very friendly. The condition of the hotel is pretty new. However, when we get into our room, we found long strains of hair under our pillow and in the towels. Parking is limited and we had to park far next to the seagull pit. Definitely throwing some dampness to our enthusiasm to this hotel chain.

Unfortunately when I jumped into Bed late at night, blood was on the sheets and pillow. Certainly not up to standard and probably won’t stay at this hotel again. Problem’s do occur, it’s how the staff react that make a difference.

Excellent front desk staff.  Very helpful and accommodating. Hotel housekeeping extremely poor.  We stayed seven night and out of that time, only the last day our room and bathroom was cleaned properly.

I realise that there is a staff shortage in Hospo in NZ but a few things stood out. Had arranged for an earlier check in than 3pm. Were quite happy to store our luggage, came back at the time were were told, room not ready but were room moved. Got to the room, no towels. No conditioner in bottle, not replaced over the three days we were there.Coffee was not replaced on the Satureday service. On Sunday room had not been serviced by 4pm, wanting to have showers so rang housekeeping, reverted to reception. Receptionist said she would send some towels straight up. Didn't happen room attendant finally came to clean room at 4.45pm! Shower could do with a really good scrub, pink build up of soap in grouting walls and glass surrounds. Its tough in Housekeeping, I know having been an Executive housekeeper for 30 years in various hotels before retirement, but if know one tells you whats wrong you cannot fix it!

Great rooms and bathrooms, good size. Rooms need to be vacuumed more often. Was disappointed in the breakfast buffet, for the standard of the hotel this was a let down.

The rooms were lovely - well-appointed and modern. The only downsides were the bed, which was hard, and it was quite noisy. Despite being on the 6th floor, there was a lot of street noise and noise from the bar across the road

Coffee machine and mineral water were missing. Door to connecting room was left unlocked. We opened the door and saw another couple (whom we do not know) in the other room.

Hi, the room was very good / excellent apart from one major distraction. Sadly, for me, the bed was too soft. As I suffer with back problems this can cause major problems.

Tv and internet down for almost 24 hours April. 1 and 2. Unacceptable for international hotel in 21st century

Lovely room, really nice bathroom with space to put my toiletries, very well equipped with iron, good numbers or coat hangers, safe etc. Nice bar and restaurant space. My room was too cold and I couldn’t get it warm enough either evening. Not good when I’d come in chilled from outside. Other members of my family had the same experience. I’d have liked the temp at abo . The control would not stay on heat mode, it kept flipping to heat standby. It warmed up overnight the first night so was ok in the morning and I didn’t complain.

The bed had broken springs and the topper added did not adequately mitigate so was exceedingly uncomfortable, the worst hotel sleep ever - also pillows were unusually very long and round, so also uncomfortable

Best hotel in Christchurch - loved it all. Great rooms and design , fitout !

The hotel is in good shape and the rooms have been kept in a good shape and have the modern amenities that people enjoy. One downside is that the room air conditioning is not individually controlled in your room, it is controlled by the hotel. The restaurant is horrible and needs attention by the hotel senior management.

The inability of staff being able to efficiently check in 2 customers on Sunday afternoon was very annoying. It took over 20 minutes for 2 staff to check in 2 guests while I waited simply to collect my luggage - something which only required a minute of attention. When there is a backlog of people waiting it's probably not a good idea to be trying to sell guests on the hotel's loyalty programme.

Unfortunately we felt quite let down by Crown Plaza Christchurch. Our disappointments related to their failure to alert us to major road closures that precluded our access to the hotel, their initial refusal to provide us a car park despite their being one available(which we eventually secured) and a general initial unfriendliness by front desk staff. We also had some maintenance problems.

We had terrible experiences, we arrived around 8pm only to be told that they had no room for us and they transferred us to another property which a 3rd fared motel while we booed 4/5 stared hotel. They made zero effort to contact us prior to our arrival and offered no refund. it has ruined the start of our holiday. Totally would not recommend

We had an amazing stay here. The staff were lovely. We would definitely stay again.

I rang to say we will be arriving after midnight plus hotel.com sent a message for me. Yes they gave my room away so at 1.30am they had to tranfer me to another hotel. They lied and said they had an IT issue but the next day the story changes only offered a drink voucher as compensation for the severe stress they caused me. I insisted they they comp my breakfasts and needed quite a few times to insist they compensate me. They gave me me breakfasts and one evening meal after a lot of persistence they compensate me for the stress and anxiety caused. I found the staff to not care about the distress they caused. My booking was made over 2 months before arrival with full payment- just very unhappy with the lack of care and want to remediate the situation.

Friendly & helpful staff, great welcome. Clean and tidy. Issue with fridge in room was sorted promptly and without intrusion. Stayed with breakfast included, was really good selection at breakfast. Location was really great, walk into the centre with wase, also near local transport. Stay in the Plaza was quiet. Overall had a great stay and highly recommend this hotel.

Was in Christchurch for a conference, the Hotel was close to the conference centre, great food, great atmosphere and a really comfortable quiet room.

Hotel location, room size, and cleanliness -- all excellent. Food quality (at breakfast) a bit average. Given location (next to the Convention Center) and size, hotel is a destination for large bus groups... but location makes it attractive for central city cultural offerings and museums.

Excellent hotel in great location. Close to New Regent St, the gardens, tram and river. Very central and easy walk to everything. Rooms are well appointed, clean and spacious. Decor is on point and modern. Loved the bathroom and amenities supplied.

Great stay! Central to everything and lots of choice of restaurants. Breakfast as generous and lots to choose from.

The room is spacious and comfortable. The location is convenient, with many food options and the hotel is short walk to Cathedral Square.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was not so great as I found 2 pieces of mouldy bread the first day and the waiter took them with no apology, the next few days the 2 so called clean juice cups were loaded with orange juice pulp. The food was simple and the eggs took over 20 minutes to arrive. Overall they did not seem to care or have pride in the restaurant.

Breakfast was awesome, especially the fresh fruit juice, and hot pancakes and eggs.

The hotel property is fabulous - the rooms were impeccable. What was absolutely abysmal was the Christmas buffet (for which they intensely solicited our attendance) and room service. For the Xmas day buffet: We were shown to a table with no utensils on the table. The buffet itself: outrageously priced, we were served dry lamb (even after I asked for a cut off the bone) and dry salty ham. I had to ask for utensils to cut the cheese selections. The accompaniments were blah (in contrast my family in Toronto sent me their Christmas morning selections of rare filet, eggs Benedict, etc, at a fraction of the cost). We had to walk to the bar for a drink (including soda); we cleared our own dishes because NOT ONCE did we see a server. After soliciting our business we were not seated in the main area; we were off in a conference room where we could not hear the organist. Desserts: mediocore. Room service: we ordered the first night. Sandwich arrived with burned toast. The second time: Sandwich arrived with no cheese and three layers of bread with dry fatty ham. Such incredible inconsistency. The other order was acceptable. First buffet breakfast - Christmas Day - service ended early but although the front desk gave us a letter they did not highlight this fact. We arrived 15 minutes before the end of the buffet (which ended 30 minutes early). Could not get cream/order at breakfast bar. Fresh fruit/cheese not replenished. Bad attitudes at coffee bar. Lousy.

Our only issue was we arrived 8.15pm (train was late) & hotel’s restaurant was already closed. We asked two reception staff where we could get something to eat & neither was able to offer useful suggestions/ directions.

Food is terrible using cheap ingredients Bar had no staff for 1 hour and 6 cans of red bull in a locked fridge with no key Prawn pizza with one prawn on each slice

The breakfast was amazing with many options. I enjoyed a pizza and beer for dinner, such good options for hungry out of town people wanting to be looked after.

Amazing breakfast buffet. Worth coming just for that. The rooms are very good. The only down side is the air is dry - but that’s probably a Christchurch thing.
