Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel

Breakfast was amazing and the staff are lovely. We had a few issues, the bed was 2 pushed together which is pretty normal and usually fine but these ones were 2 different heights and there was a growing wet patch in the bathroom from (presumably) the room above. We used the pool and hot tub facilities which were good but the changing area was dirty and had no private changing rooms

The staff were really friendly. Had a welcome pack for my young daughters. Late check out of 11am. Breakfast really well stocked. Additional £10 for 4 of us to have breakfast when we booked through Expedia. Pool was good and we could still use this after check out. Very quiet pool, has it to ourselves most the time. Fire alarm dis go off 5 times in 30 mins during the night, clearly a fault as it was switched off as soon as it went off. Not really something that can be helped so I don't have an issue with it. Room was really spacious, bed was comfy, bathroom very dated but this didn't bother us for the price we paid. I gave it 4 stars because it is a dated hotel however everything else was good. Friendly staff is always important and they were lovely and welcoming.

We were locked out of our room for 3 hours and the pool was very dirty. The cleaner was a very bad cleaner. When they say clean they really don't mean clean. I'm never going back again!!! From Aoife aged 7.

Work away all over the country every week always stay in hotels with a spa as this is what I spend my evenings doing , To my disappointment the steam room was closed and jacuzzi not even warm I should of booked the village hotel as similar price £115 a night and not even a email the day before telling me spa not in use would of cancelled and got a refund ! Not even offered a free drink or meal Next visit in a few weeks I will be booking the village Positive thou Staff friendly !

Staff coped well with problems of understaffing in the restaurant and wifi outage.No compensation was offered for lack of advertised wifi.

Great hotel, stayed here many times due to work. Only complaint is the soup served in the restaurant was the same kind for four days running, I personally would have liked other options, but apart from that very happy with my stay and the gym was also great.

Staff were great, hotel easy to find, good parking and facilities.

Stay was ok, beds were very uncomfortable and being single beds were tiny. The pool area was very dated which was a shame as I had specifically booked for the spa experience, the breakfast buffett was luke warm which was disappointing as we had a long trip home

Very poor experience. Stayed for 2 nights: The room smelt of mould and sewage; Hairs in the bed and toothpaste in sink; Paper thin walls, we could hear other guests snoring all night; Condensation on the windows, these windows were very old and needed replacing asap; Our key card stopped working when we arrived back to the hotel at midnight, it was a struggle to find someone to help us back into our room; The shower was but a trickle, a very unpleasant experience. In conclusion, this was one of the worst hotels we’ve stayed in in the UK

Really helpful, friendly staff. Clean rooms though rooms are a little dated.

Sadly my room was rather grim. Dark & gloomy, very basic. Naff 1980’s curtains, horrible bathroom, cracked washbasin & ghastly shower door, rusty, grubby … ugh

Good sized spacious room which was lovely and clean

Room was awful: dirty, cold, windows running in condensation & flaking paint, hairs on tiles in bathroom, very basic didn't have a wardrobe or armchair & looked like hadn't been decorated for 10 years, really shabby.

On the first night, we had a fire alarm at 3 a.m. It took the night auditor 30 minutes to turn it off. No complimentary gesture or apology was offered. The hotel is outdated for a 4-star property. The bathroom silicone is moldy, the carpet is stained and needs a deep clean, and the room was very dusty. The reception staff were not helpful, the phone was not working in a room so hard to get the reception.. and when the shower temperature kept going from very hot to very cold. Coffee and tea were not refilled, which is disappointing for a 4-star hotel where better service and cleanliness are expected.

Very clean helpful cheerful staff

We arrived at 10:30 at night after a long journey. We checked in quickly and went to the room which was the furthest from reception. Neither keys worked and so I had to go back to the reception to get new keys. Once we got in our “privilege” room which we paid extra for there was an overwhelming smell of mould, we had to open the windows to air the room however the smell outside was even worse - it smelt like a dump!! The duvet was too small for the bed but it was late and we were tired. We got up to get a shower - the shower gel was empty so had to use the shampoo. I complained to the reception about the smell and lack of shower gel and I was assured the room would be deep cleaned. I returned to the room and also reminded the maid that we had no shower gel and the room smelt bad and she acknowledged it would get sorted. After a day out with our family we got back to our room and it had not been serviced and the smell was worse than ever. We had no towels which we had let outside the room - they had gone but nothing to replace them and the shower gel was still empty. We were unable to get a shower the next morning despite telling the reception we had no towels - no effort was made to bring us replacements. This is a mercure and I would not recommend it to anyone. We had a slip outside our window and a half demolished wall the other side I hate to think what a regular room is like if this is a superior room. Very disappointed despite several complaints nothing was done.

I went to check in and I was asked to pay, and even though I explained that I had paid via Expedia, I was told it wasn’t showing as paid on their system. So paid with my credit card. I went up to the room, checked my online account and sure enough, charged twice. Although I will say it was significantly cheaper to book direct with the hotel than via Expedia. So I won’t be using Expedia any more! Give the hotel credit, it was refunded when I checked out. Now the hotel room… Hottest day of the year and the hotel doesn’t have aircon. The “opening windows” was a 1 inch gap, stifling heat, but the hotel did provide a fan. Carpets dirty and stained, walls similar. Bathroom had a broken towel rail, broken toilet flush, and the inside of the toilet looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. Open electrical socket in the bathroom, filthy ceiling lights, dirty walls, door handles and mouldy windows… list goes on. I then laid on the top of the bed and then was bitten three times by something! All in all, a tired, dated hotel that certainly should not have that fourth star! Two star plus at best.

Good sized spacious room which was lovely and clean

Comfortable rooms and pleasant public areas. Excellent breakfast. Room let down by the dated bathroom and poor shower. All the staff we dealt with were very professional and had time for you.

Heating pipes were banging all night long room 213 seriously needs attention otherwise a nice place to stay its a shame the main reason for staying was a poor night sleep

Space, room was spacious. Meals were good, staff efficient.

Beautiful grounds and good service. Desperately need to update the rooms, specifically the bathrooms. For a higher end hotel this stops it getting into a 4 or 5 rating.

There was music until 1am and did not get much sleep would of been nice to of been told that music could disturb our sleep

Wifi was terrible in the room as a solo traveller this was not very good unable to watch Netflix or anything similar ive stayed here before and this was a issue then rooms and gym could all do with a little revamp

My partner and I were so excited to spend a night away, our first from our 5 month old son. Everything was great to start. There was an event on and our room was by the event space, music was loud but we knew it would stop eventually. The issue came after the event ended when a couple returned to their room next to ours with multiple people. They had their own party which kept both of us up, I was about to complain to reception when there was a knock on their door and they were asked to leave so it quitened down but they returned shortly after and continued to make noise until 4:30. Neither of us slept which was what we were most excited for, we complained the next morning about the noise. Management told us their had been multiple complaints put in as a result of the noise and that was it. We spent upwards of £200 whilst there on food and drink and they couldn't even offer us discount on our next stay or free breakfast as a goodwill gesture. I would not recommend going as they won't remove inconsiderate guests and don't compensate you for having to put up with them.

The check in was good, looked after by Spencer who is a good ambassador for the compny.

Check-in was fabulous ..... young lady (very long hair) was extra friendly but professional and had good conversational skills. She followed protocol by not saying my room number out loud even though there was no-one else in the area. Extremely happy with the service. Room was very clean and comfortable - everything worked. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.

We went away for our 1st wedding anniversary and the staff went above and beyond to make it special for us.

I found the hotel easily and there was plenty of parking. The reception member of staff was fantastic. Once she realised I was with my father- who was on a separate booking- she moved him next to me. She was also conscious of potential noise from an event and placed us accordingly. The breakfast staff were very helpful and explained clearly how to work the coffee machine. When it went off, we were offered coffee from the kitchen. The staff made us feel important and cared for.

Room was double booked on arrival so not room i had initially booked, however after a complaint they managed to find me a privilege room i had booked. Swimming and facilities in desperate need of refurb. Restaurant staff running round like headless chickens 3 people tsking my room service order then tried to sit me down. Asked for room service but wasnt booked at room service no fsult of my own so had to wait in hotel area for myself to take it to room. One positive the hotel manager was a very pleasant lady and apologised for my inconvenience. Sorry but will not be returning.

Young girl on reception took a phone call for 5 minutes whilst I stood at check in. Lift out order. Waiting staff at dinner good but food bad. Asked at the bar for a G&T after and told they had no glasses, did I want something else. Said no, please can you find one. He said they only have 6 and they were in use but if I could wait, he’d go to another locked bar. Came back with a lipstick marked gin glass which I wiped myself. Room walls paper thin, hear the American man next door on the phone for an hour. Next morning, rang own at 6:45 an ordered a soya decaf latte and veggie sausage bap to the room, along with a little jug of soya milk for tea in the room as milk intolerant which was advised on check in. The man at reception said he’d never made a latte before and would go and check if they did vegi sausages which were on the menu. 20 minutes later, 2 male night staff knocked on my door, one carrying the sausage bap and spilled coffee, the other carrying a jug of soy milk. I said awkwardly didn’t they have a tray and they said they never thought. After they left, opening the bap, it was bone dry. I had to walk 15 minutes to reception (no lift) to ask for ketchup. The man on service, who delivered the bap, is not capable of the roll and I do not mean that as a negative against him, it’d wrong of management to have left him alone on a night shift where he could not manage. That’s why I walked as against rang down, it was not fair on that member of staff. Sausages raw, uncooked

Staff are excellent and can't do enough for you. A good choice at breakfast. Car parking is simple with plenty of space. The refresh of the waiting area is a vast improvement - it now looks warm and welcoming.

This was a short 4-night break for my wife's birthday and whilst the hotel was excellent it is obviously more suited for short stay business people rather than longer stays. No wardrobes and limited hanging space for clothes and no drawer space for small items, underwear etc. It is situated in extensive grounds and very quiet but still nearby has restaurants plus Waitrose, Aldi and Lidl within walking distance. Bus stop for Hull is 5 minutes walk.

The hotel is in a great location for access into Hull, there is plenty of space to park too. The hotel looks like it used to be a former country manor house and retains some of those lovely features but with more recent additions many of which a a little tired. The staff were great and the restaurant had a good selection for both breakfast and evening meals.

Good access from A63 and A164 with ample parking. Lovely large clean double room and very friendly staff. We returned after an event late and the bar was closed, but as we were residents, the night reception staff kindly still served us a ‘night cap’. Overall very good hotel experience and we shall stay again. Thank you.

The front desk staff are very helpful and friendly. The rooms are very clean and spacious. If you are planning to stay and relax at the property then the hotel is perfect for that, if you are planning to go places it’s difficult to find transportation.

Decor and furnishings a little tired / dated in places, but a very pleasant stay. Clean. Very comfortable beds and a great nights sleep. Kids loved the pool. Great breakfast. Very helpful staff. Good location.

Checked in fine only to find out they allocated me the wrong room so only after I realised (not the hotel), I had to repack my stuff and move to another room. Ordered food in the restaurant which took nearly an hour to come and when it did, it was inedible. Give a wide berth would be my humble advice

We stayed at the hotel to attend an evening wedding reception. The hotel is a little tired. The room was comfortable enough, but everything felt a little outdated and didn't feel fresh and clean. The public areas were well presented and the hotel was quite cozy. The breakfast was disappointing. The bacon was very undercooked and covered with white residue and very fatty. It looked unappetising and tastes even worse than it looked. It was quite busy at breakfast and there wasn't adequate supplies of things like hash browns, eggs and beans. This meant that people were standing around waiting for the dishes to be re-stocked, which blocked other areas were food could be accessed. My wife, who has a gluten intolerance wasn't able to eat much, due the sausages containing wheat. Most good quality sausages don't contain wheat, but the cheaper ones do and again, these were undercooked. This was my second stay at this hotel, the first was more than 20 years ago when it was still fresh. It could be a great hotel, but it needs managing well. It seemed understaffed and waiting times at the bar were unacceptable. This was due to understaffing.

It was a pleasant overnight stay. The amenities were good. The restaurant food and service was good.
