The staff at this hotel were so lovely and helpful. I really appreciated them. The hotel itself is in a great location and the views of Lake Lucerne from my balcony were fantastic. I did find the breakfast which I paid for very strange--they charged for everything, even taking a piece of fruit with you. Also, be aware that it's not accessible. You have to climb stairs with your luggage. But once you're on the ground floor, there is an elevator. It's a bit expensive for what you get, in my opinion, especially when it's not in the center of the old town or near the train station.

Extremely disappointing and unsafe experience — DO NOT RECOMMEND I have stayed at many hotels, but this was by far one of the worst experiences I have ever had. What happened at Grand Hotel Europe in Lucerne was not just poor customer service — it became a serious safety issue. At approximately 2:00 AM, the electronic door lock to our room suddenly began beeping extremely loudly. We could not sleep. I immediately called reception, and a hotel employee came to the room and removed the wiring from the lock to stop the noise. We were told that someone would come at 7:00 AM to properly repair the lock. Nobody came at 7:00 AM. Someone finally arrived around 9:00 AM, but he was unable to fix the problem. Then the situation became frightening. We were inside our room when the hotel employee closed the door, and suddenly we were locked inside. Our key would not work, and the door could not be opened from either the outside or the inside. The hotel employee tried repeatedly but could not get us out. We were essentially trapped inside our hotel room. The employee eventually tried to access the room through the roof, but even that did not immediately solve the problem. At that point, we were extremely concerned about our safety, so I called the police and reported the situation. The police contacted the hotel front desk regarding what had happened. Ultimately, the hotel staff had to move our luggage and get us out through the roof. We had to leave our room through the roof becau

I had a wonderful stay at the Grand Hotel Europe in Lucerne (May 29-June 1, 2026) . The hotel was very clean and well maintained, and my room offered a beautiful view that made it a pleasure to return after a day of walking the Old Towne (about 15 minute walk from hotel). The bed was comfortable, and I especially appreciated the plentiful electrical outlets, which made it easy to keep all of my devices charged. What really stood out, however, was the staff. Everyone was friendly, patient, and extremely helpful. They provided clear directions (bus information / coffee shop info), postage stamps, non-dairy oatmilk with the complimentary breakfast, and even duct tape when my suitcase liner got a rip in it (my own fault). Their assistance helped make my visit smooth and enjoyable. Overall, I found the Grand Hotel Europe to be comfortable, welcoming, and conveniently located. The walk from the hotel along the water was lovely and very flat and comfortable to stroll along. I would gladly stay here again and would recommend it to anyone visiting Lucerne as an excellent location.

The hotel was beautiful. The location was great, right by a bus stop that took you easily into Lucerne and runs frequently. The breakfast was great- combination of European and American. Beautiful view of Lake Lucerne and the mountains. Cons: our room was hot, the ac system did little to cool the room, we had to sleep with the windows open and the hotel provided a fan on request. It might be better to have a room facing the lake in a lower level if this is an hard stop for you. Also, the shower made no sense. I am not even 5 feet tall and could not stand to shower unless my head was in the window box. The fifth floor is a new addition. Not sure who designed the bathroom - but it was terrible.
