We chose this hotel because of the pool and hot tub, but the hot tub was out of order. The pool was too cold to go n without the hot tub. We were disappointed. This is our usual hotel when we go to Nanaimo. I hope the hotel can post about that in advance.

Super friendly staff, fabulous room and king size bed. The restaurant was decent for club sandwich and burgers. The free continental breakfast left a bit to be desired (margarine no butter?!?!!), juice machine broken, a lot of sugary options. But we got a great night's sleep, room was huge and super clean and quiet. Very close to the ferry. We would stay here again!!!

No elevator, you must take the stairs if you are not on the first level. Also, make sure you ask for a renovated room. I was given an old room, very different from the one shown in the picture I booked. As I cannot do stairs they moved me to main floor renovated room. The desk personnel are very kind, however they are often working alone and there is no one to help you with your bags, or assist you beyond the front desk. Not recommended for seniors with mobility issues or someone who cannot lug their own suitcases.

There were mice running around the front lobby when we checked in. Staff did not seem to care when we pointed out the mice. We asked for no pet room, I think we were put in a pet friendly room, the door looked chewed, it was run down, paint splotches all around the bathroom, pink mold around the bathtub and sink/ and on sink plug. Black mold on ceilings. Hallway smelled like dog pee. Pool looked unclear - water was extremely murky not clear. We did not eat in the restaurant due to mice running around the entrance. Picture on website look nothing like hotel. It was old, run down in desperate need of upgrades. cleaning and repairs. If there was option to add pictures I would to show the state of the room. Advised the front desk of state of room and was just told they would pass on to management. Will not stay here again.

At the check-in I asked for a toddler mattress and they didn’t have one to offer us. We had to adapt the room the best way we could so our son wouldn’t fall from the bed. I was really not surprised about the “free” (included o the cost of the room) continental breakfast to be very dull and not tasty at all. Unfortunately there was mould on our bathroom shower walls (see photo). The carpet was so dirty that my son’s feet became gray after walking barefoot on it for a couple hours. There was something sticky on it, like sap or something worse. The kitchen utensils were dirty too. The kitchenette is a joke! The stove is about 2 feet away from the bed. If you cook anything there the whole place will smell. The mini fridge was very old and couldn’t keep our food at the right temperature. The AC is very noisy and very little efficient. The black out shades were flaking and the sun light passed through it in patches. I had a situation and I offered to pay half stay for a late checkout (later than noon) and it was denied. Seems like “No” is the standard answer for any request. One of the main reasons I booked this hotel was the pool, but we couldn’t use it because it was way too cold. As you might have read in other reviews… the staff at the front desk is very unfriendly. Lesson learned: I will never stay in a Days Inn hotel ever again. What a disaster!

This hotel was very dirty we had a sofa in the room that had stains on it the roof in the bathroom had mold on it and the ac unit was so dirty it was barely functional. The hall way had blood on the wall and stains all over the carpet and the pool looked questionable. I would not recommend this hotel the best part about it was Rickey’s really good food and awesome service.

The hallways reeked of Marijuana, the room was run down and in need of updating. A silverfish bug ran across the bathroom floor as my 3 year old used the restroom. I did not have any encounters with staff so can not comment.

Door wouldn’t close unless lifted to clear the doorframe. Hinge was clearly repaired multiple times, but improperly and ineffectively. Flies in room. A/C unit intake filter dirty and unit was very loud. Cheap, window unit placed permanently through the wall. Mattress and bedframe were low quality. Curtains were worn and wearing through. Generally, things were painted over rather than updated. That said, the appearance was fine and as expected from pictures. Furniture, carpet, bathroom fixtures were decent / updated. Sheets, towels, cabinets/drawers/surfaces were clean.

We enjoyed our stay immensely. It’s a wonderful hotel . I would like to give a shout out to Manny and Rebecca at the front desk that greeted us. They were warm and friendly. It was a nice start to our holiday. The only thing that was of concern was the toilet when flushed it would keep running. We figured out that if we lifted the handle of the toilet up after we flushed it . It would soon stop running. I forgot to mention it to the front staff when we checked out. We were in room 249. Others than that all was great ! Manny set us up with extra coffee k cups. Great hospitality on the part of these two. Thanks again Marriot.

Please make a rule of no running and jumping in the pool or no kids in pool past 9PM. On Saturday night, I was trying to enjoy the pool and was bombarded with constant splashes from 6 rowdy unproperly parented kids multiple at a time running and jumping in the pool over and over and over and multiple at a time. I asked them to keep their splashes to one side, but they were absolutely inconsiderate and their parents did not do a single thing to control their kids. I am quite childlike and silly myself, but they were reckless, unsafe (running and jumping), unruly, and inconsiderate and the parents didn't care one bit for any other patrons and let them run wild. After nearly an hour of putting up with it trying to stay away as far as possible in the pool but still getting constantly splashed over and over, I told a staff member and they said they couldn't do anything about it at all. I was absolutely disappointed and felt extremely frustrated as a result. So I will likely considering other hotels next time and telling others since clearly there is no proper safety regulations in the pool and they are clearly not enforced because nobody cares enough to.

My family had an extremely bad experience during our stay at the hotel due to the following reasons: Ants all over the room after we checked in at night. Notified the front desk and were told to move to another room. After we moved the following day we found a big spider in the washroom, the toilet was leaking all night, and sleeping was very difficult for the family. The following morning, I notified the front desk manager – AJ, about our experience and what we had gone through. AJ was not willing to listen to our concerns and was very abrupt and did not show normal hospitality as a manager, when I asked him to make some concession to our room rates. He was loud, obnoxious and hostile and showed no apathy for our complaint as a customer. We would not recommend anyone to stay in that hotel

Amenities room was nice and clean. The room was also clean upon check in. Front desk staff were also attentive. The only downside to our stay is that our van got broken into and some personal items were taken and some were left outside the parking lot just on the ground. Unfortunately we don't feel secure enough to come back to this specific location due to what happened to our property.

The good, staff were good, room was mostly clean, bed was comfortable. The bad, the couch in the room was very uncomfortable to sit on and the arms were dirty. Note: this area of Nanaimo has people hanging around, felt concerned for vehicle that was parked out of view, near dumpsters that had been gone through with material strewn about. The mill nearby, worked all night, i was able to tune it out though.

We had a two night stay. Our room was spacious, with a large bed, desk and chair and still room for a three seater sofa - it was nice not to have to sit on the bed as in many other hotels. The in room fridge was useful. The helpful staff at reception let us have a kettle as we aren't coffee drinkers (there's a coffee machine). The room was clean and comfortable and quiet, apart from the noise of other guests going early. Everything worked. The complementary breakfast is pretty basic: some cereal, bagels, bread, pancakes, soft cheese, hard boiled eggs, egg patties, juice (watery), tea, coffee, milk, preserves, apples and oranges. Decent sized breakfast area with additional tables in a nearby room - but the padding on some chairs was worn out. Ample parking. Downtown Nanaimo is about a 5 minute drive away (or perhaps a 30-40 minute walk down residential back streets). Most non-chargeable daytime parking is limited to 2 hours unless you park a few streets away from the centre, e.g. Milton Street. After 5pm parking restrictions largely don't apply. The Days Inn provided a good value base for our short stay in Nanaimo.
