Nice hotel with nice views on Fremantle. The pools are really nice and the placement of the hotel in Fremantle is great. The one negative thing would be the 30$ parking cost as the hotel doesn't have its own parking.

Pleasant stay with very helpful staff and in a great location to enjoy Fremantle and the wider area. Breakfast was great and the rooms were quiet, cleaned thoroughly every day and there was a pool to relax at after a busy day. Whilst the hotel is well run, it lets itself down by being generally a bit run down. It’s well past a refurb and the current owners would do well to do that - it’s listed as four stars but I would judge three better. Carpets are frayed at the edges in rooms, walls with scrapes, bathroom floor tiles ingrained with dirt over the years and the breakfast/lounge areas have tables and chairs of the type you might see in a bingo hall, with the Formica edges coming away on some tables. The gym for the size of hotel is very small and poor, with just three machines, all of which are 20+ years old. A refurb would make this well run hotel a super place to stay.

We have stayed at this hotel a few times but we’re not impressed this time the pool area has declined a lot and has no atmosphere this is the second time we have been here and the pool bar is closed. You can order on your phone but it’s very limited selection. Location is very good rooms were comfortable and clean. Main bar in the hotel closed at 10 pm on a Saturday night which we thought was early - overall had a nice stay but did not think it was worth the price.

For such a large prestigious hotel, the gymnasium is on a shoestring cheap budget items. The pools were filthy not cleaned paper dirt leafs in water did not see it cleaned once The bedroom not having a exhaust fan and everything becoming damp from condensation Only exhaust area was above shower spout which was caked in black and brown mouldy Spurs

Whilst the rooms were cleaned regularly, the silicone seal around the bath/shower was quite stained with black mould and we found that the quality of toilet paper to be very cheap, where a mid-range quality would have substantially improved our experience. We found the staff throughout the hotel to be very pleasant and courteous (from the Reception to the Bar and the Cleaners). One of the best meals we had during our stay was the Pork Cutlet. Very tasty.

Our shower was not cleaned It was actually disgusting. We took photos to share. Our concern is that if the shower was not cleaned the spa bath would not have been either. There was also a noise all night - sounded like an airplane

Great area, close to everything, staff were friendy. Shower was leaking and had to mop up floors with towels after every shower.. a lot of mould on shower tile grout.. rooms and corridors in desperate need of painting. The shower leak and mould in shower was reported to reception but nothing was done while we were there.

We had a great time during out 3 night stay at The Esplanade, it is a beautiful building with lots of choice as far as spending time in the bars, restaurants or poolside. The room was stock standard, nothing over the top special, but the bed was very comfortable, it was very roomy. I liked the option to not have the room serviced in exchange for a credit on stay, what a great incentive and makes perfect sense. The bathroom shower floor looked like it needed a good scrub but other than that room was clean. I also liked the Chromecast option on the TV, this gave us the freedom to watch anything that we had access to on our phone, great idea. Location is brilliant and very close to everything.

Friendly staff. Good location. Inadequate cleaning with a Mouldy bathroom. Thin walls (you hear way to much noise). Poorly maintained walls (paint missing everywhere). Rain dripping loudly all night with half the carpet soaked in the morning. Water damaged skirting board indicates that it was not a new issue.

I had high expectations for the area and for the hotel it seemed dated my room had a weird smell in the hallway, smelled like oil paint drying to the point where it sort of gave me a headache. I have to say that when I went to the front desk to say anything, they were very nice about it. I’m not sure they were able to address it and another comment that maybe had nothing to do with the hotel, but just the area at times seemed sketchy, but I don’t know if that’s the hotel’s fault obviously

I love the appearance of the building. It has a grand feel about it. The location is fabulous! Our room was lovely. however our air con didn't seem to work efficiently. our room was always hot no matter what adjusting we did, we tried opening a window but the winder didnt work on either window. we could have complained i suppose but for 2 nightss we tolerated it, everything else was fine. enjoyed our complimentry cold drink :-)

Have stayed several times at the Esplanade, this time was the most expensive and least satisfying. The room was clean and spacious (no balcony or view though), but there was a series of things that just should have been better: noisy people in the corridor, the aircon with almost zero airflow, the door which wouldn't close properly (and the maintenance guy who came to fix it pounding on the door at 8am), the delivery which was not passed on, the coffee supplies not replenished... For the price paid, it was disappointing.

We had a few events in Fremantle over the weekend. To avoid travel and for a treat, we booked a "Superior" room at The Esplanade. We also pre-paid breakfast. Our room was basically in the lobby, it was the nearest room to the main desk. The noise was constant, loud voices and banging etc non-stop until around midnight. It then resumed at 6:00 am. On top of that, the cleaning crew were vacuuming outside of our door at around 2:00 am. So next to no sleep possible in that room. There was no view from the window, it was blocked by a tree. It was a nice tree, so fair enough. However, the windows was so dirty a view would have been wasted. When we came to check out, I mentioned these things to the staff. Their response "Well, did you specifically ask not to have those things". Like we should expect that experience in a "Superior" room in a 4* hotel. On top of that, we were given a bill for having coffee with breakfast. Pre-paid breakfast does not include coffee. Superior price; inferior experience. Very disappointed.

i thought the beds were incredibly uncomfortable,wayyyyy too soft I thought the looooong hallway to reception desk was of very poor condition,needs painting and patching also i would consider some art work or a vibrant paint colour.. the cost of the room ,didnot equate to the quality of motel the only redeeming place was the pool... when i checked out ,i was served by a understanding staff member who offered me a sm discount ..which wasnt necessary also the coffee barista ,who was polite,couldnt make me a coffee past 9 pm..i dont think that is good enuf He also said that room service couldnt offer coffee either,i was very suprised

We stayed in room 479 - avoid this at all costs if you like peace and quiet. Outside the room (& lots of neighbouring rooms), is the hotel’s air-conditioning outlet which makes a constant, relentless loud noise. It was like trying to sleep next to the Niagara Falls. We’ve just checked out and are now enjoying the sound of silence away from the hotel (room 479).

Check in had a very long lane, which is understandable. But at 2.55pm, the reception told me that room is not ready for 3pm check in and asked me to go to their pub to have a drink. So I went to the pub had a juice and went back waited in the queue for another 20 mins to get the room key. Marked a quiet room please, and got put right in front of the lifts which was still loud as at 9pm… my 2 years old couldn’t sleep till almost 10. The reservation is marked as one adult and one child…. Not saying that we need to get special treated but definitely did not feel any hospitality exist in this place.

When I initially arrived I was given one of the worst rooms. Right next to reception and heavy foot traffic, which I knew would have been an issue. I went to reception and advised how I felt, and they went above and beyond to secure me a quiet room which was much needed. Because of this customer service I definitely recommend. Yes it’s a little older, but good customer service is hard to come across. Location is also great.

Nice location - close to lots of restaurants, bars and shops as well as the harbour. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are a bit tired - there was a used bandaid stuck to the bathroom floor from previous guest (was kinda camouflaged from the tiles) and there was no complementary water bottles in the room so we had to walk 10 mins to find a 7-11 to buy water. Beds were comfortable and I liked the streaming function option on the tv.

The stay was fine, the property is nice and clean. My only issue was that I did wait 1hr 20 mins for my room service and whenever I followed up I have a blunt response from staff as though it were an inconvenience. For a 4.5 star rating on the hotel, Don’t offer 24hr room service if you can’t provide.

A lovely old colonial looking hotel in a perfect location for sightseeing in Fremantle. Very close to the harbour, prison, station, market and everything else that you might want to see. Parking opposite the hotel will cost $30 AUD and you need to register your vehicle at reception before you park Staff were friendly and courteous and the rooms were spacious and comfortable The breakfast buffet is very generous with a wide variety of choice

The hotel was lovely but!!!,, on check out the bill for breakfast was not what we were expecting! We were told the breakfast was $29 when checking in and again going in to breakfast, we stayed. For 5 days twice in 6 weeks , was told special guest rates, but on 2nd check out was then found out that it was per person making the breakfast $58 per day! Very sad , a rip off ! Yes it was a lovely breakfast but at that price it should be! Please tell everyone that it’s per person,

Great hotel location for exploring Fremantle. Lots of cafes, bars and restaurants nearby. Easy to walk around and get to local experiences such as the prison, train station, harbour for boats to Rottnest Island and walks along the esplanade. Seen better days. Good location, not the place to stay if you want a quiet relaxing hotel. Everything was a bit shabby. The rooms were noisy, it sounded like you could hear every door open and close. Rooms face the pool and you’re at the mercy of other parents when it comes to how many hours they will let their kids scream around the pool area (and in our case it was many).

We had the best night staying at the Esplanade. The room was spacious and the beds super comfy. A pleasant surprise to receive a bottle of sparkling for my birthday in the room on arrival. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Staff were very accommodating and polite. The night at the bar was super busy due to Dockers playing in the second semifinal, the staff worked very efficiently and politely trying to serve everyone. All areas of the hotel appeared clean. Lovely stay, would come back.

There was a 3 day West Australia Furry Friends convention on during our stay. They were okay but took up the whole hotel due to the number of participants. Due to this we were not able to enjoy the amenities. Hotel was under renevetion as well causing some noise Monday morning during breakfast. We would gave chosen a different hotel if we new the above, we did not get value for money
