Ample parking greeted me and did not fill up too much as the afternoon progressed and I soon found out why. I had booked an apparent "Superior" room which leaves me to wonder what the standard is like. The bed was comfortable and provided a decent night's rest and the shower worked well. The bathroom's finish was very sub-standard though with a nasty plug hole that was caked in hair and grime which I ended up cleaning out myself to ensure the water went down. The flooring seemed hastily laid with parts left unfinished and a very disconcerting dip in the middle of the floor which was not their by design. I decided not to dine their on the evening and my breakfast confirmed what an astute decision that was. I am used to good Best Western buffets and can safely say this was not one of them. A very limited supply of cooked food with anemic sausages, eggs left out far too long and apple juice which was very diluted. The bacon was the only redeeming factor as it was cooked nice and crispy. Overall I maybe expected too much from a hotel in this franchise but think that Best Western need to do more quality inspection work going forward.

There was a rowdy wedding going on and staff were overstretched. Shouting and banging of doors all night. Comfortable bed, but hair in the shower. Behaviour of other guests is of course out of the staff’s control, but more staff should have been on duty in anticipation.

Hotel really nice for the price paid bar and restaurant original not over modern which was nice the room was adequate but slightly basic although comfortable. Limited dining after 9pm but that seems the norm now. Room lacked a chair but this was quickly resolved by the hotel team

Mediocre Western at best! A bathtub that wouldn’t drain, the tape holding the panel onto the tub, the picture without glass, the blood stained mattress protector, the cracked and dirty China ware - just some of the negative elements found at this hotel during my stay. The reception staff were all exceptionally polite and courteous. The issue with the non-draining tub needed reporting twice. Public areas and my room were all very clean, the rooms; the very reason people use a hotel could desperately do with some of the magic already provided to the bar & restaurant area. Excellent parking offered at no charge. Would I stay again? Possibly.

Firstly i have to say the staff were all very helpful and fiendly. We stayed there due to it being close to an event we were attending. Good points are it was easy to find and good free parking. The hotel itself however is sorely in need of a refurb of the rooms and the public areas. Everything is clearly old, tatty and well past its best. Our bathroom had a drainy smell but this smell was present in many parts of the hotel including the bar area and the corridors. Cooked breakfast was ok but the continental choice was a bit lacking. My wifes big bug bear is rooms that dont have mirrors on dressing tables so she can do her hair and makeup so dragging a chair over to the wardrobe to use the only mirror which was actually inside the wardrobe whilst trying to make the hairdryer reach certainly didnt get her vote. My summary, ok for a night but dont set your expectations high. It is what it is, an oldish, unloved, unmodernised, outdated, in places grubby and in need of a oaint job, but if all you want is a bed for the night then thix will do. By the way, bed was comfy.

The first time we arrived our neighbours were playing loud music, we asked to move and we got told by the staff they'd give them a sound warning, which they did and fortunately they turned the music down. Our room wasn't the cleanest, there was hairs in the shower and bed and where our towels were in the wardrobe were very dusty. My partner had a bath and the water flooded out of the bottom of the bath. Whilst we was out, someone had come into our room and changed our bed and towels, even though we hadn't put a sign on our door to say we had needed it and we had only been there for one night. The duvet cover was dirty, and had a poo stain on it (i do have a photo if needed) we asked for another one and the receptionist said he was new and didn't know where anything was and would have to wait until another member of staff came in..

The hotel is a little old and could do with a refurb BUT the staff were friendly, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable and it was very quiet which for me are the four most important things in a hotel stay!

All I needed was a cheap but acceptable room. The room was tired, poorly maintained. Plumbing sqeeked & oscillated, sink blocked, everything in the room worn out. View was of a room with cables everywhere. The hotel was characterised for me in the not providing any shower gel or soaps etc. Amusingly, they had left the metal holders for the bottles screwed to the wall. Presumably from the more generous previous owners. FELT WELL BELOW BEST WESTERN standard.

Room was nice, free water and snacks. Pillows and bed both good. Only bad things were the bathroom floor has fallen through so was sunk badly and the shower head desperately needs replacing.

There was a shortage of staff with the receptionist attending the bar as well Cleaning equipment was left in corridor. Bed was terrible. So lumpy! Another guest arrived after 1am and walls were paper thin so could hear conversation. We didn’t have breakfast so cannot comment on this.

Staff were friendly and check in was quick. Good location, right on the main road in and out of Reading. On a bus route too with frequent busses. Not much around in terms of bars / restaurants. Our room needed updating. Grubby carpet and basic facilities in room. Very warm room too. Fan provided. Hairdryers in rooms too, don't make the mistake we made and buy a hairdryer as there is one in room (hotel doesn't promote this on their website.

We were visiting our son who lived a 5 min drive away. It was really only somewhere for us to sleep wash and have breakfast. The hotel was ideal for us. People were very friendly and breakfast was lovely.

Our bathroom had a drainy smell but this smell was present in many parts of the hotel including the bar area and the corridors. Cooked breakfast was ok but the continental choice was a bit lacking. My wifes big bug bear is rooms that dont have mirrors on dressing tables so she can do her hair and makeup so dragging a chair over to the wardrobe to use the only mirror which was actually inside the wardrobe whilst trying to make the hairdryer reach certainly didnt get her vote. My summary, ok for a night but dont set your expectations high. It is what it is, an oldish, unloved, unmodernised, outdated, in places grubby and in need of a oaint job, but if all you want is a bed for the night then thix will do. By the way, bed was comfy.

Firstly i have to say the staff were all very helpful and fiendly. We stayed there due to it being close to an event we were attending. Good points are it was easy to find and good free parking. Staff were friendly and check in was quick. Good location, right on the main road in and out of Reading. On a bus route too with frequent busses. Not much around in terms of bars / restaurants. Our room needed updating. Grubby carpet and basic facilities in room. Very warm room too. Fan provided. Ample parking greeted me and did not fill up too much as the afternoon progressed and I soon found out why. I had booked an apparent "Superior" room which leaves me to wonder what the standard is like. The bed was comfortable and provided a decent night's rest and the shower worked well. The bathroom's finish was very sub-standard though with a nasty plug hole that was caked in hair and grime which I ended up cleaning out myself to ensure the water went down. The flooring seemed hastily laid with parts left unfinished and a very disconcerting dip in the middle of the floor which was not their by design. I decided not to dine their on the evening and my breakfast confirmed what an astute decision that was. I am used to good Best Western buffets and can safely say this was not one of them. A very limited supply of cooked food with anemic sausages, eggs left out far too long and apple juice which was very diluted. The bacon was the only redeeming factor as it was cooked nice and crispy. Overall I maybe expected too much from a hotel in this franchise but think that Best Western need to do more quality inspection work going forward.

Pleasantly surprised. For the price we paid we were expecting something dismal but were just happy to have a bed for the night. Actually very good value for money. Tired but comfortable. Would definitely stay there again. One small point. We were absolutely delighted to find the room had a bath. Not so pleased when we went to run it and found no plug. 😥 Breakfast was exceptional value for money

Hotel really nice for the price paid bar and restaurant original not over modern which was nice the room was adequate but slightly basic although comfortable. Limited dining after 9pm but that seems the norm now. Room lacked a chair but this was quickly resolved by the hotel team

We arrived at 6pm and were surprised to see all the changed bedding still outside all the bedrooms. Ordered some food which was very disappointing. However, breakfast the next morning was lovely. Staff were really friendly but hotel is looking tired unfortunately.
